I complained about the beef cheek as it was not good, I was told if there’s nothing wrong with it they will not do anything to rectify it,I reaponded and said it’s my first time trying it, so I’m not sure how the dish should taste but this is terrible. so I was offered a portion of chips as an alternative to my meal I refused and left after paying the full bill once I could finnally get the bill, from the staff who like to stand behind the desk chatting.

The staff were friendly but the service was very slow, it wasn’t busy but we had to wait about 30 minutes to get a drink and about 90 minutes to get our starter’s, the food was ok but overpriced, we did get 10% off for the slow service but it spoiled our experience. I doubt we will return.

My wife and I went to the Mulberry Restaurant in the Oatlands Park Hotel for the first time to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We thought it was excellent. The restaurant has tall ceilings and several huge bay windows with views of the hotel's extensive gardens and lake. We arrived at half past one, and the restaurant was already buzzing with many tables of large groups of people. There was a happy vibe in the room. The Jazz band provided live background music for about half the time, with the other half filled with appropriate recorded music for a Sunday afternoon. The waiters were good and managed to be very attentive without being overbearing. Starters and desserts are on buffet tables, and the main course is available at the attended carvery. The quality of the starters was very high. From recollection, there was a nice selection of pate, smoked salmon, cooked salmon, king prawns, bread rolls, Italian hams and salamis. All tasted very good and were clearly sourced from good suppliers. The carvery was equally excellent. I had the beef, and I thought it was perhaps the best roast beef I have ever had. There were plenty of trimmings. I thought the roast potatoes were a little underwhelming (not the crisp type). Their take on Yorkshire puddings was a bit flat but really nice. I tried a bit of my wife's lamb, and that was nice too. They kindly brought us a little treat to recognise our anniversary - the chocolate mousses on the bought were incredible. On the dessert buffet, our favourite was the Panna cotta, closely followed by a lovely lemon curd tartlet. It's not cheap, but I feel it's worth it for a celebration because of the ambience, the selection of high-quality food, the music, and the good service. And you can finish it off with a stroll around the gardens if the weather permits. Excellent.

Had a very pleasant lunch here very recently. Palatial dining room but empty except for one other table. Food was good, main courses in particular with sufficient choices for our group. Service was polite if extremely leisurely. However, this worked well for us though, a group of friends getting together after a long absence. Was initially a bit concerned as all communication with restaurant kept stressing we could only have the table for 90 minutes but in the end we lingered at the table chatting into the afternoon without any fuss from the staff, crossing over well into the hotel's afternoon tea service! (Mind you there were only three tables occupied but the afternoon tea spread looked very impressive). Food is quite expensive and the portions are not particularly generous, the bread and butter pudding, quite tasty but no bigger than a small cheese cracker at £10 a pop is questionable.

My experience was not good at all. The service was appalling - not only the waiting staff was unhelpful to begin with, but when queried why the food was taking so long, they were rude and pointed to a “full” restaurant. Which couldn’t be further from the truth. It was half full at best! When the food did eventually arrive, almost an hour and half later, it was lukewarm and was bland. No flavour whatsoever. Very disappointing. Would definitely not recommend.

The vegan and vegetarian options are limited yet we gave it a go as after a long day we didn't fancy going out for dinner. The restaurant wasn't full but the food took approximately 80 minutes to arrive! When querying a rough eta the waiter gave attitude in his response and was far from helpful. The risotto was very disappointing and the food served in a prison is probably better! At approximately £25 a head you would expect service and quality to be better

Stayed overnight so we experienced dinner and breakfast at the Mulberry. Prices are higher than equivalent dishes in most restaurants, though the view and surroundings are lovely. Onto the food...Tempura would be better described as battered and drowning in oil. Olives were overpowered by vinegar. Seafood linguine was extremely bland, as in it was essentially pasta in water with a few pieces of seafood. Duck breast was the saving grace and was cooked well though accompanying veg was plain boiled broccoli and carrots like you get in school. £100 for olives, shared starter, 2 mains and a bottle of wine and we didn't even have dessert. The couple next to us weren't impressed with their food either. And to top it off, the waiting staff neglected to deliver something the hotel reception staff had arranged for our anniversary. Breakfast was much better. All cooked well and standard English and continental options available

First visit post lock-down. Overall good food and good service, although limited choices. There were far fewer tables and people than before lock-down, which did make for a far more relaxed atmosphere although the previous 'buzz' was missing. The Sunday Lunch buffet/carvery is not available for the time being due to Covid restrictions, which is a great shame as there was a superb selection of starters and desserts plus you could have cheese as well as dessert - I do hope this comes back soon! At present there is sadly no live music. Essential to book, again a shame. Ample free parking.

My husband and I returned to the Oatlands last night to celebrate our anniversary. The staff were charming and we had a wonderful time. Although the food was delicious and we appreciate you need to offer a reduced menu (this should be clearer on the website), the menu could still be more affordably (for you and the customer) sophisticated. Most of the main options on the Lounge & Bar menu are burgers, fish and chips and curries. Risotto disappointingly again seems to be the only main meal option for vegetarians. I had mentioned this back in 2015 and this year we were offered a delicious vegetable and halloumi stack for Valentine's Day but it would be good if such interesting vegetarian dishes could be offered throughout the year. We would also come to the Oatlands if on a Sunday lunchtime, mushroom wellington or nut roast with vegetarian gravy were on the menu. A hotel meal should be a different experience to the more everyday.

The atmosphere was romantic - beautifully lit and set up for the evening and it was good to see the restaurant was full. In addition, we were both happy to be offered a more imaginative vegetarian dish rather than the usual pasta and risotto options.....Could such dishes now be extended to your Sunday lunch option along with ideas like veggie wellingtons or pies? Thank you for a special evening and we hope to see you again soon.

Excellent value Sunday carvery, the beef was beautifully cooked and there was plenty of choice for meat. Also vegetarian is available if required. Wonderful selection of accompanying vegetables. Spoilt for choice for starters, desserts and cheese. I booked in advance and specified dietary restrictions at time of booking and was impressed that these were observed ( we avoid pork and I noticed all pork items were kept on separate dishes - how considerate). The bill came to around £270 for the lunch carvery for 6 with soft drinks, plus two beers and two coffees . Parking is fine, loos clean and good standard. I saw staff were considerate of those with impaired mobility , no awkward stairs inside but you may need to check if wheelchair access required from outside. On a nice day it's worth allowing time for a stroll around the grounds pre or post lunch!

The food was outstanding, a lovely display of starters and desserts. The carvery was excellent, potatoes cooked in Goose fat, delicious. There was a trio of musicians playing subtly, so as not to disturb and several people had birthdays and they played Happy Birthday to you and the waiters brought in a small cake with a candle. Each person had their own tune and cake. Truly a lovely touch. We cannot thank the Hotel enough for making our lunch truly memorable.

We have just returned from Sunday lunch at the hotel and it was an excellent experience all round. We live near, so know the hotel and it used to offer Jazz lunches once a month - the food used to be poor quality and the atmosphere was lacking NOW the food is much better - the beef my husband and I enjoyed was perfectly cooked- pink in the middle but not too much; the place was buzzing and the choice at the carvery was outstanding. The service was friendly and nothing was too much trouble. However, all this was topped off with some absolutely first rate jazz playing from a trio calling themselves 'Sounds Easy Jazz'. Go for them alone but enjoy the delicious food on top of it. The price obviously does not include any drinks and it is not something I could contemplate every Sunday (unfortunately) but it is not out-priced either so makes it affordable for special occasions . At the time of writing you can kiss goodbye to £35pp for the food alone- however, I'd have paid that to hear this lot of old timers play. If you are a young musician and want to hear perfect execution of lounge jazz - you will learn a thing or two. As a professional musician myself (not an instrumentalist) I have just had a very satisfying experience and would highly recommend this to anybody who likes their jazz cool and their food hot

How much you have spent here? You cannot stay here for whole day just paying for a glass of water. Me and my husband are so shocked as for so many times been in this hotel we are never asked to leave because we stayed there more than two hours. And what make us feel unpleasant is how can they judge customer by how much money they spend? The ceiling in the Mulberry Restaurant is high, there are soft furnishings, and the tables are well spaced - which means that you don't find your event being spoilt by background noise, but there is a nice buzz. I can particularly recommend their Christmas afternoon teas (on the menu from December). But our last tea there was last week, and we have our December visit to look forward to still.

Compared to our last visit we felt that the quality of the food had dropped. Equally, the service was poor this time. They have a very strange system for paying the bill at the end of the meal - They expect you to queue up at the till! I was not prepared to do this and asked a waiter to bring the bill. After a very long wait (10+ minutes) I asked again and was told the till was very busy! After a further 10 minutes the bill had still not arrived even though there had been nobody paying at the till for some time and there was a group of several waiters stood around it chatting. This is not the sort of system that befits a quality restaurant within what they wish to present as a luxury hotel and does tend to spoil people's overall experience. I STRONGLY SUGGEST THEY THINK AGAIN AND COME UP WITH A BETTER SOLUTION.

I booked this 4 weeks in advance and they never called or let me know so I had the chance to go elsewhere as I would never had accepted this had I known!!! After seating we waited over 40 mins to get a drink and were given the menu to pick the tea but I had already picked this on my booking...I did complain and was offered a glass of prossecco, I was driving and my mum and her friend don't drink!! Then offered a discount on my next visit...there won't be one. The food was not great although the scones were lovely and fresh just very disappointed...even more by the fact they charged 12.5% for service and the fact I emailed them that evening stating how disappointed I was and embarrassed as this was meant to be special and they haven't even acknowledged the email... very disappointing!!!

Good buffet lunch with choice of roasts and other dishes in elegant surroundings. Also good choices on the cold table, particularly fish options, and desserts

Had a lovely afternoon tea part of an anniversary celebration. Beautiful restaurant with live music int the background (violins etc) absolutely enchanting! On the website Cream tea was advised but wasn't on the menu at the restaurant even though I asked about it, it was less than the standard tea per person but I was told it was the same price of the standard tea

I had dinner with a friend. The hotel is impressive - large well presented rooms in an interesting old building. Lovely grounds. Service was faultless and the food was good - not mind blowing but very nice. I'm vegetarian so the options were limited but I would go again.

We went on a groupon deal and had the set meal included but it wasn't all that but thankfully the hotel was happy for us to upgrade and pay the difference of the price of the set meal and the al la carte meal. We choose from the al la carte meal and I had the rack of lamb and hubby the steak. We got our starters at the same time as the next table who ordered at the same time as us from the set menu. Then we got their mains (set menu lamb chop x 2) hubby started eating and I raked around at mine saying this looks like a lamb chop not a rack of lamb. I then looked at hubbys and said you ordered steak but you've also got lamb. I then realised this was not our mains. We had to wait a bit to attract someones attention. They took the 2 meals to the bar, had a group discussion and then served them to the other table. Hubby said I so wouldn't want that now if I were them but the other table hadn't seen it being served to us first!!!! We waited and waited and then finally found someone to ask if ours was coming and then there seemed to be some confusion and eventually ours came out when the next table were on their dessert. Once again nobody around to ask us if everything was ok and nobody around to tell them the steak ordered medium rare was cooked medium well. We would have sent it back if there was anyone around before it was completely eaten. We told the waitress when she cleared the table as that was the first person we saw. She didn't care. We told the waiter when he took our dessert orer. He comped us a drink. I rather pay for my drinks and have an expensive steak cooked to my liking. Would never go back after seeing food served and reserved, yuk!!!!! Breakfast was very nice although lots of people were in search of the plates and some food ran out of the hot buffet.

Thes sat us at a table with very little access to get to dining area as there were large round table with chairs back to back, surrounding uswe had taken an elderly aunt there for Sunday lunch. We either had to wait for people to move or push our way through. We ordered our drinks and the waiter bought the wrong ones twice!!!! We th n went for our starters and it was almost empty no seafood asked waiter and they said it was finished for lunch, so we were left other very little selection. The main course was good and I will say the roast potatoes are probably the best we have ever had. The desert table when we got there again was very limited a few small desert were left and sticky toffee pudding

Ambience pleasant enough but food was far too salty and overcooked to our taste. All four of us found the meals salty. My husband remarked that his steak was overcooked and I would not have recognised my meal as monkfish, again overcooked.

For my birthday my mother and I when we were in the same country go out to lunch. We decided as it was a big birthday to go somewhere nice. It was a lovely day and we thought we would get to sit outside. Not only were we refused permission to even have a drink outside we were plonked in the middle of a huge empty restaurant the waiters made us feel very unwelcome as if we had ruined the chance of them getting off early. Our order was wrong and the food was terrible the service diabolical. No offer of bread or toast with mothers trout mousse and what was supposed to be a beautiful lobster main course was the worst I have ever had. We have spent our whole lives in the catering industry and this was so bad, so unbelievably bad it actually made us laugh.

We had a family lunch here on a Saturday in February (we weren't staying at the hotel). The food was delicious, with good portion sizes and something for everyone; and the service was very friendly and attentive, but professional. The room is impressive (big windows with great views) and the tables are set out in classic hotel style with white table cloths, making for a lovely setting. There weren't many tables occupied for lunch - it seems that afternoon tea is their bigger event on a Saturday - but we will definitely be back again for lunch and would thoroughly recommend it.

Went with friends for a nice lunch off the a la carte menu. All had starters with a plate full of the finest smoked salmon as one of them. The main courses were all excellent but the lamb racks could have done with less fat. The service was excellent and we will be back.

We booked a table for my grandfathers birthday for 6 of us one Sunday. There was a very quaint jazz band playing as we entered the spectacular dinning room. The tables are laid out like a work of art and the waiters and waitresses were on top of their game with the service and smiles all round. The crab starter was amazing and the carvery itself was top notch. The big windows and natural light pouring In just added to the experience. I wish I ate like this at least once a week... but then I probably wouldn't enjoy it as much as I did. Nah I probably would!

This is a slightly late review as our family have been awaiting a response from the management of the Oatlands Park Hotel regarding complaints we had about our Christmas Lunch. To date despite recorded delivered letter sent in January, at least 5 phone calls to thier Manager Ross Lomanto who promised call back from thier Heathery Dogherty. No response has been made. This speaks volumes from a organisation that has no idea of customer relations.

Good selection of food for starters, mains, cheese and pudding. Good service, lovely restaurant and ambiance. At £29.95 perhaps £5 over-priced especially as the wine prices are extortionate.

Booked in September for 6 people for afternoon tea with live music. In the mulberry resturant. Turned up was seated in the terrace... which turned out to be an added building. It was very very cold. Had 2 blow heaters, which were rather useless... Manager came to speak to us . Showed him the email and he said. Oh yes the website was updated in October and there was no live music either. We said how cold it was and he replied with its 20 degrees in here. Would you like free presseco!!!!! That was it. I sat there with my coat on the whole time as did my mum whos 80th birthday it was...

Went here for lunch with a friend at 13.00. Beginning of the week so it was dead. Just the way I like it because I’m no good with crowds. I wasn’t aware of this of course but it worked out well. Much later there were two other tables for afternoon tea. Our lunch was really good. What was impeccable was the service from the gentlemen working the restaurant. I didn’t get his name but he was absolutely awesome. Courteous. Polite. Friendly. Attentive when needed to be. Proper 5 star service. The meal was made all the more enjoyable because of him. I really should’ve got his name so management can be informed that he is their star employee during our experience there. Ok the hotel and grounds itself. The grounds need a bit more love. Even in winter. The entrance… trees lit aren’t symmetrical. The left side was unlit. So it’s not pleasing to look at. But that’s just aesthetic. It was lovely over all though with a bit more tender loving care. Inside, it’s fine enough. It’s not pretentious let’s. Would I come back? Absolutely! Food and service were top notch.
