Muker Village Stores & Teashop in Richmondshire

We were delighted to find the Tea Rooms open on a Monday. We had lunch here and it was fabulous. Nothing was too much trouble and the staff were charming. Wholly recommend a visit here. The scones were to die for. Well done.

A perfect English tea shop in every way! Perfectly prepared tea, delicious cakes, lovely decor. A welcome respite after a long hike in Swaledale.

If you think of a typical English tea room… this’d be it. A perfect cosy setting with the cakes on the sideboard tempting you… Scones, jam and lashings of clotted cream… Delightful service… Lots of piping hot tea. (A pity it wasn’t leaves, but hey ho…) Would go back time and time again if we lived nearby.

Great service and good choice of sandwiches and lunch foods. Enormous sandwich on really nice granary bread. Some lovely looking cakes too! We thought prices were reasonable and would recommend a stop.

Stopped here for lunch on a day trip driving around the Dales. Fantastic variety of options on the menu, great use of local ingredients, quality of food was really good, very friendly staff, clean and a beautiful picturesque location. I would definitely recommend it and we will be back!

The lady serving us was just lovely. Customer service as it should be with a big smile. The good old fashioned way.The carrot cake must be the best in the world and really great hot milky lattes. The rest of the menu looks delicious .Worth the drive from Skipton over Buttertubs. Muker is a delight.

Stopped by after a hike with my uncle & the dog. The waiter was amazing and tended to everyone’s need even when busy. Food was great for a small kitchen. All fresh :)

Called in twice in two days. Great staff and selection of meals and snacks. Best ever fruit cake with cheese! If it looks to be full with all outside seating taken- check inside as there are several tables indoors.

Before a nostalgic walk amongst the hay meadows we called in for a light lunch. I had the Yorkshire Welsh Rarebit (with added ham and a poached egg) ,my wife had the original version . We both had a pot of tea. A great quick lunch

Was nearby and saw that this place has lots of good reviews. As we arrived we could see that all the outside tables were full so decided to go for a walk first. On the way past I could see some of the food people had and it did look really nice. Walked for an hour and then came back and manager to get a table outside. Very nice woman gave us menus and warned us there was a ten minute wait on food (always nice to be told and we were more than happy relaxing in the sun outside) I got the Welsh rarebit with poached egg on top and it was really really good. Amazing flavour and so cheesy! Came with a nice side salad. We also got scones with cream and jam which were nice. Not the biggest scones we've ever seen but cooked nicely with a good crunchy outside and soft inside. My latte was good and my wife enjoyed her hot chocolate with marshmallows. Overall very nice food, great friendly service and we will definitely come back here again when walking in the area.

Visited Sept 27 for a snack whilst exploring. Quaint, authentic Dales village. Absolutely delicious sausage sandwiches. Good coffee and friendly service too so no hesitation in recommending. Thank you R & G 2022

Lovely little shop with seats outside in a beautiful garden courtyard at the front on Muker’s Main Street . There is an art gallery a woollens shop and a pub in this village on the Pennine way.

So many visits to this tea room but it never fails to impress. Everything on offer is superb; the tea, the sandwiches, the cakes and the welcome are second to none. Thank you one again for our very welcome cuppa.

If you can time your walk to end at this delightful teashop in Muker you will have done well! Sunny outside all day and with great substantial sandwiches, snacks and cakes. There is the store next door too is you need anything (sells wine!)

This is a very welcoming tea shop serving a good variety of quality teas. We tried Lady Grey and Lapsang. You get a large pot and extra hot water for a reasonable price.

Run by a lovely couple and no place nicer to sit outside enjoying a hot drink on a dry day after a walk around this rural idyll. Don't miss the toasted Muker teacake! Tip: ask for butter 'on the side' if you prefer to spread your own.

A delicious hearty food stop, great scones and yummy toasties with strong tea and a cosy atmosphere It ain't posh but the food and the people made us smile. Also for those who love their cycling there are some classic little bits and bobs of cycling memorabilia dotted about the tea room. It was a welcome haven on a wet and wild day.

Excellent cafe in beautiful Muker. Swift service with a wonderful smile and the home roasted ham toastie was a delight. The views on our cycle journey were to amazing and the cafe was a highlight before the next hill! Super happy stop

We were lucky to get a table in this busy tea shop which attracts a steady flow of diners. The very pleasant and friendly member of staff confirmed that the cakes, scones and teacakes all contained eggs and/or milk so unfortunately there were no vegan options. However, when we were enjoying our espresso (which came with a glass of water, always welcome) and Americano she let us know they had vegan rocky road bars available so we were able to enjoy something sweet with our coffees, which were excellent and supplied by Grumpy Mule of Holmfirth.

Well, perhaps not a surprise to us who have been coming here for nigh on 20 years before Nick and Allison - the present owners - took over. Obviously have got to know them both over the years, and we always receive a warm welcome. I think the fact that all the reviews are very good or good says it all. I nearly always have whatever soup is on the menu, as it's always excellent. hoping to be back before they close for the season.

Called into the shop earlier today en route in need for a snack. The owners quickly made the most delicious home cooked ham sandwiches with local seeded bread and local butter. (£3:75).

We visit the dales often but decided to try Muker for a change on this trip. A lovely small village with a shop selling woollen goods a gallery which was closed on the day we went a pub and the village shop and tea rooms. We sat outside as it was a lovely sunny day and chatted to nice people from Newcastle who were walking. W e had toasted sandwiches and tea both came with salad and were very tasty and reasonable in price. IF you ever find yourself in this part of the dales it is well worth a visit to this tea room!

We stopped on our round trip walk from Keld over Crackpott Hall. Toasted teacake and coffee sitting outside in the sun (yes it was April) was perfect. Very tasty good quality Yorkshire coffee and a nice fruity toasted teacake with butter just the tonic before our next lunch stop. If you are doing one of the local walks it is worth the ten minute detour to head into Muker for. One of my favourite villages.

We were lucky with the weather so sat outside and enjoyed friendly service, great food and excellent Grumpy Mule coffee - the Yorkshire Rarebit was very tasty, as was the sausage toastie with local relish, thank you!

We've been coming here for a good few years now and have never been disappointed. Really had to pop in during a 3 day autumn break. Excellent menu and quality of food and service as usual. Nick and Allison really look after their customers. Only had coffee and cake this visit (fruit cake made with Old Peculier ale) Very nice!

walking the Herriot way this was a bit of a detour, as we had to go back to the same bridge we came from as the alternative bridge had been flushed away (our kart was apparently not up to date). The tea and cakes were perfect, a place you can only find in the UK

We've just spent two weeks staying near Muker, so had to try this tea shop a couple of times. It has a traditional atmosphere and friendly service. The tea was good, and the home made cakes and scones were delicious. On my first visit I had cherry and almond cake with cream, which was moist but crumbly, just as I like it. For the latest visit I tried the Chocolate mousse cake, also with cream. It was moist, light and richly chocolaty. The flavour lingered nicely for some time afterwards. My friends decided to be cheeky and share a cream tea which has 2 scones, jam and cream, and order an extra drink. The waiter guessed what they were doing and automatically brought an extra plate. We noticed he offered the same to another table too. I'd definitely like to go back next time I'm in the area.

Just stopped for tea and a scone. Had a great chat with the gentleman serving us (possibly the owner). He gave us recommendations on where we might want to go and since we were on a genealogy quest, he gave us some local history and books available on Swaledale. A really great stop.

Went for afternoon tea - still as great as ever. Perfect tea and unbelievably good cake - recommend the ginger cake. All situated in a sun trap so when sitting outside it is really warm. Best tea shop in Yorkshire. Well done Nick and Alison!

We visited Muker Tea Shop on our last visits and will continue to do so. It is wonderful, quaint, delicious food and cakes and a cracking cup of tea served in porcelain cups and saucer. Only thing is and this is the majority of places, those dreaded stainless steel teapots which burn your fingers when lifting the lid and spill your tea everywhere when you try to pour it. A proper teapot would be lots better. Nevertheless, just gorgeous. Thank you.

We were walking the C2C from Keld and it was recommended we take the extra time to visit Muker. We stopped at the Tea Room and had the best scones of our 3 weeks in England. The service was great and we were warmly welcomed.

Our first stop on the Coast to Coast leg from Keld to Reeth. Delightful to sit outside in the sun and eat fabulous fruit scones, washed down with tea - and with an extra pot of hot water brought without our even asking. We visited this wonderful little tea shop with relatives having heard such good comments regarding the food. Everything about the experience was fabulous. The food served was home made and exceptional quality. The service from the owners was very friendly and welcoming and the ambience of being able to sit outside in a small quaint setting was just wonderful. This tea shop is truly a little gem and not to be passed by if visiting Muker.

After a walk in the meadows a great lunch at the Muker Teashop. We had tea and fantastic sandwiches followed by delicious cake with cream. Very friendly staff. On our way out we bought some Wensleydale cheese in the shop.

Year on year we return and this Café has always excelled. Can I say more? Well according to Trip Advisor I have to! The best café with table service in Muker. All the food is excellent and my yardstick - an espresso was also excellent.

Second visit to Muker and this delightful tearoom. We try to make this the mid point of a days walking so we can stop and relax by the river. What better than a pot of tea and home made cake?

Been here several times and it is my lunch stop on the bus. It’s so good that I now won’t drive on Tuesdays as the tea shop are not open then. Coffee is great, sandwiches amazing and very filling. Nice cosy coal fire in the main room, when it’s cold and damp outside, which it quite often is up here!

Very surprised with such a varied menu for a small tea shop. Unusual bread and a whole mix of sandwiches, soup and other lovely things. We sat oustide and watched walkers and cyclists arrive. Dogs welcome too. The service was excellent and everyone in the family enjoyed the food. The teenagers moaned about lack of wifi but I was rather pleased they had to talk to me!!!

From Kirkby Stephen drive through the spectacular Yorkshire dales via the smallest roads to see the best scenery. The lighting was perfect. We spotted cyclists, sheep of course, ducks crossing, ancient farm houses, and scenery. We accomplished our goal of seeing the best of the dales. Perfect for cycling if it's not raining. Purples, yellows, greens and grays. So many stone walls! Very cute town of Muker. Spotted a mansion with a helicopter. Heading down from Reeth to Leyburn on the B6270. Our long drive was luckily rewarded with the impressive 14th century Bolton castle. Headed to hotel through Hawes. Absolutely crazy drivers, speeding without caring what's coming from the other direction. Very blessed with safety, except with ones own mistakes. I suppose a road trip isn't complete without a flat tire. We were in the process of changing it without too much trouble until we came across a security bolt. When the AA came he easily took an adaptor out of our glove box which we never came across.
