TERRIBLE my daughter works here and she is under 16 as a strict LAW she is not allowed to work over 8 hour shifts yet they ignore that and put her on over 8 hour shifts when she has college to deal with as well also very rude manager doesn't communicate so my daughter is always stressed what to do. and when I went in the shop the floor was very dirty and workers get paid very low and over the legal hours for the age this is not okay they hire children to over work them and underpay them. my daughter has mentioned how other workers are not keen on how rude the boss acts to them and the work commands.

Ordered a tea here today and it was the worse cup I have ever had! I asked for the tea bag to be left in, it wasn't, so weak and there was so much milk in it that I went back inside to complain. The young girl just put another tea bad in to make it stronger. I sat back outside but so awful I just left it on the table and certainly won't return!

Slightly odd experience, ordered coffee, went to take my little girl to the toilet, waited in line, staff member pushed in front of me and banged on the toilet door and left. Lady came out looking at me, I apologised and explained it wasn't me. Took my little girl into the toilet, after approx 2 mins there was a loud banging on the toilet door! I opened the door and asked what the issue was, the staff member waved a toilet roll in my face, there was plenty of toilet roll, not sure what the urgency was? Really odd! When I confronted the staff member she didn't apologise just went into the toilet shrugging her shoulders.... Weird! Left feedback on the website and heard nothing back.

Used to come here on the weekends and enjoy some coffee and a light breakfast while I read a book. Staff are friendly and always made my cappuccinos the way I liked.

The best muffins ever, baked fresh every day and coffee is excellent. Staff friendly and helpful. Toilets are very clean.

Floor was dirty. Had a roast dinner yorkshire; it was awful. Some raw carrot, undercooked potato, and some weird mix of "mayonnaise gravy". Tasted awful. Yorkshire itself tasted like flour. Cake was burnt on the bottom, dry and unedible. Would not return. Milkshakes were nice

Online order. Had it delivered to us. There was hardly any filling except loads of sauce and some salad, had to throw it all away, not acceptable.

My tuna wrap was slopped all over my plate and was badly presented, no attention to detail. No flavour to it either. On a positive note, the young girls serving were very professional. My reply...Definitely was a tuna wrap.

Something feels good about this place. Is it the way they take your order (friendly and calm) or the way they then process it (you get one of these standards with a number so you don't have to stand there and wait for your order to be prepared, ie you can sit down and they will bring it to your table)? Apart from that, what they serve is good as well. It was our first visit and an eye opener.

Unfortunately the food looks a lot nicer than it is. We each had our own cake and hot sandwich but it didn’t have any flavour. The staff were friendly, but the tables were so dirty. Worst thing about the experience, we ate in and have come out STINKING like we have been in a greasy cafe not a fresh shop for a quick bite. Have had to come home to wash and change.

Ordered by uber eats 2 bacon and egg rolls and come without egg both of them . Expensive for bread and bacon I believe 😡

Ordered a bacon roll to be delivered. Was more than £8 as a small order. Horrible. Would never order again. Very disappointed

Sat for 15mins waiting for 2 coffees whilst 3 staff stood talking. There was only one other person in the cafe and they were also waiting. Tables dirty and rubbish on the floor

Great place for a quick bite and coffee.

My bagel was cold as been refrigerated, didn't enjoy as it was hard too. Young servers were trying hard but not very organised. Also cold in the seating area.

Very good coffee. Friendly staff. Well run establishment. Gentleman that runs the coffee shop has been very supportive over the past months since I told him about losing my wife to cancer last year. Married nearly 53 years and together for 58 since we first met.

Have been in this coffee shop since it first opened and the coffee and staff are brilliant and the new coffee machine is so much better

We went today to get lunch. The food section was full of flies all on the uncovered food. The staff either didn’t care or failed to notice. There must of been over 6 flies all landing on the cookies and other cakes. Really not ok. We left without getting food. It doesn’t take much to stop them getting to the food. Disappointing as it looked nice but I won’t be eating food that’s had flies all on it.

Very lovely helpful friendly staff. Nice selection of cakes, muffins, sandwiches etc including gluten free and dairy free. All brought to the table after ordering. Cool inside too which was an added bonus as hot outside. Also they have a customer toilet which is handy.

We had lunch here and the food was fine; service was quick and efficient though disorganised in that tables were left uncleaned for ages. Really good coffee.

Great place to try " Probably the best Muffins in the world " lol but they do have a great range for all tastes. Staff are great and very helpful, prices are fair and the food is good. The Coffee is very good, tables inside and out, nice place to chill when in town centre.

Good customer service, polite. Clean tables and work space, great looking, freshly baked on the day, sandwiches, cakes, scones and muffins. Ordered a fruit scone which was served warm with butter and jam, blueberry muffin was fresh, soft, delicious and not to sweet. Great quality. Coffee was good quality and tasted great, they could have been hotter but I didn't specify. Overall a fantastic place to have a coffee n treat.

I came in for a quick drink and snack with my boyfriend and the place was a state! I know Saturdays can be busy but tables were left dirty until we had to ask for a table to be cleared as otherwise staff left rubbish on tables, the floor looked like it hadn’t be swept in a very long time… And when food was delivered, I asked if they would take the tray back with them to which they responded “oh it’s easier for us if we leave trays for when we clear the table”… Food was overpriced but average tasting. Just due to cleanliness I doubt I’ll return, but maybe it was an off day.

We Popped in for a drink and cake , I had red velvet cake that was dry and my hot chocolate was not even hot , the wife had a coffee that she said wasn’t hot , she had mud cake with ice cream, she said that was nice , over priced at £16, we wouldn’t return

Why oh why do they have to start sweeping up the store at about 3pm every day, they start at the back, sweep, create dust etc; they started doing this a while back but why do this so early ????????

I called in this morning with my two grandsons and was very pleased we found this delightful cafe which is so much better than the chains that are to be found in Bury St Edmunds. The boys had a double chocolate muffin each and declared them delicious - 10/10. They know their muffins!. I had an Americano (black). I am fussy when it comes to coffee and can say that this was the best I have had in England for a very long time. The service was friendly, and warm from a very professional young woman. I'll be back on my next visit to BSE.

Nothing special to be honest. Good quality food and coffee but nothing special. We sat outside and when the table next left, it was not cleaned at all even when someone sat there. Nothing to do with Covid-scare here just removing the debris from previous cakes. Service for us was not friendly.

First shopping experience after lockdown. Stopped here for morning break sat outside in the sunshine, ordered inside drinks and cake brought to our table. Good pleasant atmosphere and service. The fruit and cheese scones were nice and light with a crunchy exterior or serviced with tea. Cost not that expensive worth a visit.

If like me, you drink your coffee black you will understand that there are few places that get it right. It is an art to be consistant and at Muffin break they have it nailed. Great coffee and yes rather good muffins.

Much prefer this to the usual Starbucks and Costa. good Coffe and food plus loyalty card too.

A few steps away from the main centre for tourists is a big, modern shopping area with books, clothes, and most importantly, muffins. There's a good selection here to please every palate. My daughter had a double-chocolate cookie that was a predictably big hit, and I took a little risk to try the cinnamon-apple muffin. Mine was large and surprisingly good: the cinnamon was not too subtle, as I feared, and the apple chunks added some moisture. Would certainly like to go again!

Good coffee. Good atmosphere. My toffee muffin was quite dry, but overall a good experience.

Excellent Coffee and Hot Snacks. The Panini are all home made and exceptional taste .. nice staff all hard working .. much more preferred on the chain coffee shops

I regularly visit Muffin Break to get my "coffee fix" and a break from shopping. Each visit never disappoints, a perfectly made skinny Latte every time (by far the best coffee in town as far as I am concerned) and always a friendly smile. This week I visited, scanned by loyalty card and was advised by the young lady serving me that my coffee was free as it was my Birthday month and I could choose any free Birthday muffin from the counter! I have to confess to not being a huge fan of muffins, however (as it is my birthday!) on this occasion, I enjoyed a wonderful Apple and Cinnamon Muffin with my coffee (totally recommended). Not a penny was removed from my purse! Now that's what I call a 5 star service - well done Muffin Break, see you next week!

Very bland egg sandwich and prawn wrap. No spoons with coffee, no napkins with food. Ok but nothing special. Wouldn't return.

My wife and I use Muffin Break when in Bury St Edmunds because we have always found that the food and cake is fresh with good taste, if you like coffee the Americano is strong and full of flavour.

Had a nice tea and cake here out of the rain. Service was OK, tea was ok and the ambiance was ok. So it does what it says on the tin!

I often visit when in Bury St Edmunds. Their muffins are great with a good choice. Coffee is good but it would be nice if they served a better choice of cold drinks such as Orange juice.

We visited today and it’s the second visit and not disappointed!The coffee selection and taste is amazing. The food is homemade healthy and rustic. The selection is outstanding and you won’t find these items anywhere else. The portions are generous and worth the money it’s no more expensive than Starbucks or costa but doesn’t taste mass produced or artificial. The staff are accommodating to dietary needs and added extras you may want. They are friendly and welcoming and the atmosphere is calm and welcoming.If you smoke there are chairs and tables outside to accommodate this. Well worth a Sunday morning trip or lunchtime treat!

So stood 10 minutes waiting to be served after deciding what we wanted was a busy Sunday the young lad served the two girls in front of us we were next girl joins behind counter to help serve long queue behind us lad nods to the customer behind as for her to serve he then starts getting his customers tray ready on which myself and my husband decided we were invisible well not the service as the Norwich store as great service there we decided to go elsewhere won’t be back !

Made another visit for coffees and a break, is so much better these days, brighter and cleaner and the staff are lovely.

Has been so much better but Oh dear - crumbs every where and just a feeling of no interest in running this place, was once brilliant with Darren and again with Paddy.

Stopped in for a quick drink. Whilst they were not too busy, the service was very slow. I tried one of the muffin shakes and was very disappointed. After the long wait, the drink was average. The tables are packed on top of each other so it makes for an uncomfortable atmosphere. The door opens inwards between two tables on the outside and between some tables on the inside, so navigating it with a pushchair is very tricky. It also means "parking" the pushchair is difficult without getting in the way. I'm not sure I'd return...

Our first visit to this cafe. Great selection of wraps, sandwiches etc. Cakes/muffins were amazing, good value. Will certainly visit this cafe again. Young staff were very friendly.

I know that this is just one of a large chain but whilst the menu's and offering are the same across the outlets and they are all somewhat overpriced the service here was provided by cheerful and attentive staff and that makes them stand out. The Manager was particularly good with a cheery welcome. The food came quickly and tables were cleared and cleaned quickly. These places can become busy and a little cramped but this one again was more comfortable than most. Good gluten free options from this chain is a real bonus.

Just been to this place and to say that their milkshakes are well priced is utter folly. Nearly £4 for something that I could knock up in my kitchen with a pot of Nesquick and some milk, simples. At the price quoted you would imagine ice cream, maybe a fresh banana, bit of cream on top, but you will be disappointed

We stopped before we dropped in the Arc shopping centre and what a great place to have a reviving cuppa. Service with a smile and great tasting tea. It is possible to sit outside and catch the late afternoon sun and yet not feel too exposed on the "street". Very good value for money too!

Very helpful staff. My grandson couldn't decide which cake to have (he's 2) so the lady behind the counter was very patient with him and showed him different choices until we discovered what he was trying to point at. Would go here again

Stopped here for a quick bite to eat, we both had a panini, and shared a soft drink, at £11.50 I think it is overpriced for not very tasty food, this is the first and last time I will use it.

This gets four stars simply for being the only place in town where you can get a decent sized flat white coffee. The muffins are pretty good too. The decor is a little tired but the staff are great - better than the more famous competitors around the corner and in the centre of town.

Have always gone here for my coffee when in Bury St Edmunds. Friendly service and fantastic coffee. The cakes are also to die for. The staff know me already and serve up my decaf latte exactly how I like it, very hot, just a little froth. Even when they're really busy they'll always apologise for the wait, something which is very rare anywhere these days. Would definitely recommend over any of the other big coffee chains.

This was our first visit to the Muffin Break,at the end of the day visit to Bury St Edmunds we stopped by for a drink,staff were cheerful and polite,cappuccino was very good.

Toda la comida en las ventanas parecía delicioso, me decidí a Nueva York la envoltura deli. Le pregunté a la chica detrás del mostrador exactamente lo que se en la envoltura no decir y no sabia. Dijo el chef no estaba, así que ella no podía pedir. Aunque no me incomodó mucho ya que tenía hambre y quería sentarse y alimentar a mi bebé de cuatro meses, podría ser malo para aquellos con alergias, etc. El restaurante estaba bastante limpia, etc. planta típica migas Sin embargo me pareció muy caro para lo que es. Mi envoltura era casi 5 libras, mi hijo tenía un muffin, que costaba £2. 20 y mi zumo de naranja también era de £2. 20. Para mí, para lo que era caro y cuando pagar pensado en todas las otros sitios que ofrecen más por su dinero podría de hecho en la zona. No es un lugar que elegiría para ir de nuevo por este motivo.

De no ser local, pero viendo la variedad de sándwiches, magdalenas, etc., decidimos comer aquí. Tuve la envoltura de gambas y mi marido el tocino y Panini brie, hemos tenido mejor, no había mucho de rellenar el panini y mi envoltura de gambas no era tan sabroso como esperaba, pero tenía un montón de gambas. Las magdalenas, bollos, etc., con buena pinta, pero como no tienen uno, no puedo opinar sobre el gusto. Ambos tuvimos bebidas suaves, debido a que tener un café antes, así que no puedo comentar sobre el café. El servicio fue rápido, las mesas son pequeñas, así que no había demasiado espacio a la izquierda con dos placas y bebidas y están cerca una de la otra. Haven't been for a while because last time was so dirty thought we'd give it another try. On the positive our hot chocolate and coffee was very nice the red velvet cake was very dry. It was very busy and there were lots of dirty tables, a gentleman next to me asked to have the table cleared, when the girl cleared the table she dropped some rubbish on the floor and couldn't be bothered to pick it up. The was filthy, I wiped my own table because that was dirty too. Sorry I wouldn't recommend it and won't be going back either.

Called in during a shopping trip in Bury, very pleasant staff and nice and cosyon a really cold day. Not too many people there as it was a Monday so was verypleasant to be able to have our drinks without feeling the need to rush away.Nice and clean, good choice of snacks, a very good all round rest break venue.

Muffin Break is a firm favourite of mine, and it still is, with excellent 'proper' muffins (unlike rubbish supermarket ones) with other goodies as well - they even do breakfast muffins as well but did not have any of them on this occasion as had lunch at the Weatherspoons. Best chocolate muffins in Suffolk by far and possibly UK!

Went in to buy a take away tea. Saw some nice muffins and so I ordered one to go with my tea. Whilst waiting for my tea I saw lots of flys flying around all the muffins. Although they are in a chiller cabinet they are still open to the air. They should be covered so flys and other insects cant get to them as this is very off putting. Then when I got my tea and was walking back to work the cup was so hot I almost dropped it a number of times. Either the cups are too thin or the beverage was far too hot. I also came out smelling of baking/cooking after only being in there about 10 minutes max.

Best coffee I have had in my three week trip to Europe. I was ecstatic to finally find a place that made decent coffee.

Visited for the second time with my sister who is amazed by the gluten free options which are tasty, moist and have great flavour combinations.This visit she had banana & coconut.I chose the dairy free of friut,nuts & seeds.Both were divine and we were lucky to get a table outside and enjoy our drinks & muffins in the sunshine.The other food of pannis,wraps etc all looked very enticing perhaps on next visit we will try these.A definite stop for a day visiting Bury St Edmund.

Have the warm cheese scones! Also drink your coffee all up as there is a smiley face on the bottom of the cup. Paninis are lovely too. Great staff

A nice and quiet atmosphere, great for coffee and snacks. Living up to its name they offer a range of muffins and other deli dishes for lunch, tasty and welcoming. I tried a muffin milkshake and it was great, in flavor and texture, worth your money.

We had to visit Muffin Break again as we were visiting Bury for a shopping trip - came here last year for the first time and it was FAB, this visit today was also FAB!Large tempting muffins (much nicer looking than a lot of the Supermarket versions) with plenty of filling/topping (unlike the Supermarket ones) and with a 'crispy top' (unlike the Supermarket ones) and they taste truly heavenly - the best muffins I have had in a long while (since last visit). Best muffins in Bury and certainly the best in Suffolk or even East Anglia in fact in the places I have visited! Will be here again soon!

Just discovered this incredible muffin shop - loads of different types something for everyone - serves great tea and coffee too.

We called in to this Muffin Break just for coffee and a hot chocolate, which were both good. We have been to other Muffin Breaks, and can recommend the apple & cinnamon muffins and cheese scones. It's also worth getting a loyalty card, for free drinks and muffins from time to time.

Hot chocolate was divine but gluten free savoury muffin was just ok. It was a little cold in there and there was not much of an atmosphere. Having said that, I would go back again for the hot chocolate.

Friendly staff and good food. As it is a chain you can rely on good standard of food and drinks. Cakes are fantastic. There is a loyalty card where you can get a free drink after each 5 you purchase which is great. Ample comfortable seating.

Was always a fav stopping off place at a weekend,friendly well drilled staff and efficient service however there seems to been a change of ownership and staff.I too noticed the dirty entrance mat and general untidiness with tables uncleared even though when i visited it wasn't that busy,The young staff seemed unfamiliar with serving protocol and we were left standing at the counter for what seemed an age..add to that a luke warm coffee and that was enough for me to write this review.I really hope things improve and they can get back to previous standards.

we often pop in for a coffee, we like the ambience and the coffe is good, but I felt I had to write a review to day first I had to ask for our table to be cleaned then noticed the floor in our seating are was disgusting, it wasn't busy so there is no excuse for this, plus 3 behind the counter! As I left I noticed how dirty the entrance mat was, the staff could really do from some training in keeping this coffee shop up to a satisfactory standard

Went in for a coffee and muffin but only had a drink as there was flies on the open muffins. Despite four members of staff standing round chatting there was dirty tables but certainly wasn't busy, quickly finished drink and left, will not be coming back.

Just had coffees and blueberry muffin. Very good service and coffee and muffin. The surroundings were nice, clean and not noisy. If it had been full the seats would have felt a bit crammed in but as it was only half full, it was fine.

I love coming here for muffins and tea! The chocolate muffin is probably my favorite, but all the ones I've tried are good! My husband and I also really enjoy the pepperoni and jalapeño panini!

A wide choice in flavours of muffins and caters to a wide selection of dietary issues such as gluten free. If you didn't fancy a muffin there was a selection of other cakes such as banana cake, rocky road or even something savoury. I had a white chocolate and raspberry muffin and a hot chocolate and both were very nice.The place itself was very clean and well kept, I would happily go back here again.
