Poor food, didn't feel I was valued as a customer. I asked to have a mixture of turkey and pork for my 'fresh' roast of the day. Told that couldn't be done. When the food arrived, I had to keep my disappointment hidden. A big plate with hardly any food on it. The potatoes were clearly not fresh, the tiny flat yorkshire puddings were not tasty at all and hard. Carrots for veg as I don't have peas. Hard and no flavour. The turkey wasn't great and I couldn't understand why they couldn't put pork on either. No customer service, put the food down and just turned away. Clearly knew the standard was low. Definitely won't be eating there again, a meal deal would have been better.

Always use gavins. Never disappoints

We had a lovely Chinese meal for my dad’s 70th birthday from gavin’s Wok and grill on Saturday night. It is our first time to use them,Been told by friends they are so busy, so we went in to order our meal for deliver later at the night, they was busy at the time, people was waiting in the takeaway, that is a good sign, a lovely Chinese lady served us, the deliver was on time, actually it was 5 min early, the driver was polite, The meal was so tasty, nice and hot, all our family enjoyed it so much, kids love their Chicken balls. Will definitely use them again, try them yourself, you will not disappoint . Thank you so much for your lovely food and service.

Breakfasts are good in general and makes a change from the other cafes in town. I didn't like the sausages tho when last visiting.

There are quite a few bad take away's in this town, but Gavin's is certainly up the top. The food we received from there was totally inedible, in fact the chicken curry and rice went straight into the bin.The chicken was slimy and tasted of fish.So strong was the taste we believed we may have ordered prawn by mistake. A pancake roll, the size and shape of a small football ,quickly followed. When opened, the roll inside was burnt black, we did not even attempt to taste it. The rest of the order was equally as bad. When a Chinese take away cannot even get the basics right, you know you are in trouble.

Well not sure where to start !! They say delivery will be 1 hour and 15 min so not true.Driver turns up at the house my husband said your really late. The driver who says he is the owner starts shouting at my husband being really aggressive and threatening. Then pushed into our house then dropped the food on the floor. I am so disgusted in the service and will be reporting him to the police. Absolute thug, then wanted us to keep the food after throwing it on the floor. Be careful if u open the door to himWe will never order from here again and I hope other customers are aware and careful if they open the door to him as he can’t accept the truth that he is delivering food late and does not care about customers !!!!

Just had the most outrageours delivery driver ever little guy in a hat supposedly the owner of Gavins Wok & Grill in Haverhill. First we waited over an hour as stated on the phone ordered at 6:30 delivered at 8:10 . I said to the driver I am only going to pay £20 (£23.50) was the amount he snatched the food out of my hands which dropped on the floor and then started shouting saying if your only going to pay £20 you cant have it and then decided we can have the stuff on the floor. I have never seen a delivery driver that aggressive and he was incredibly rude. All he had to do was have a conversation not snatch and shout and swear. GAVINS WOK AND GRILL have lost a customer for life If I was an elderly person or vulnerable it would of been a frightening experience . Anyone who orders from them dont try to short change them they get nasty very quickly. #GAVINSGRILL

I never give one star and always try and look for the good in a place and never mention the bad . Food was above average but the lady serving me has no concept of the word customer service . While waiting for our food we can hear her screaming at the staff in the kitchen . Wasn't a good experience ,this is going to to the first and last time I will ever be there

Order a Chinese on Xmas eve, appreciate it’s going to be busy but we wait an hour when they say it’s going to be 30-40 minutes. Ring them up to chase and the women that answers the phone says nothing more and nothing less other than ‘if you get off the phone I’m trying to pack it’. Don’t bother ordering from here if you want decent customer service, rude people that can’t quite deal with customers.

Decided to call in 'out of the rain' at Gavin's in Haverhill for brunch. Enjoyed meal, good service and splendid extensive menu.

Terrible service they don't even deserve 1 star. First time using gavins was told a 2hr wait but we were in no rush. Over 3hrs later still no food. Had to order somewhere else which was difficult as it was half ten. Wont be ordering again.

Easily the best Chinese food in town.

Después cambiaron a Haverhill hace unos meses, hemos probado unos cuantos para llevar chino, pero para el servicio y la calidad de la comida, puedo decir honestamente que este es el mejor. Dulce y agria era gruesa y precioso, patatas fritas y como ya han dicho otros, precioso chow mein. Una gran opción para cualquiera que realmente viven en Haverhill o alrededores. Probar una vez, verás lo que quiero decir.

The chow mein was scrumptious and the chips are excellent. It's easy to miss at the top of some stairs.

I have tried majority of the chinese takeaways in haverhill and this one by far is the best... the food is always fresh, taste good, and is never a disappointment, this is our new regular as cant bare to eat from other chinese takeaways as the standard is no where near this one, i never feel like i have wasted money when i buy food here as nothing goes to waste! The service is amazing always on time when they say (well mostly earlier), the staff are always polite. Overall this is defo the place for chinese in haverhill.

El restaurante aquí ha mejorado en los últimos años y tiene una agradable sleection de platos británicos, los antiguos tradiitionals como hamburguesas y patatas fritas, strougnof de carne y un asado diaria. El servicio está bien, y la mayoría de parece ser cocinados a la orden, que es una verdadera ventaja y creo que una buena comida británica básica, no te puedes equivocar.

good value large portions and friendly service from clean establishment. the main dishes were mostly ok if rather bland (black bean sauce and ginger dishes were tasty) but fried rice fatty tasting and predominant flavour of the meal was fatty taste

The perfect place for lunch when shopping in Haverhill. Good old English breakfast and lunch menus from sausage, eggs + bacon to steak + kidney pie. With chicken tikka as an alternative. Plus a lovely cup of tea.

This is a nice little cafe , food is cooked fresh and served to you by friendly waitress. Nothing outstanding but a good value freshly cooked meal.

Myself and my Boyfriend have tried the Chinese in the restaurant and we thought it was lovely and have also have tried the delivery service. All excellent and very tasty. Would highly recommend. We go there as often as we can.

I have to say it was very good food and delivered on time. the only thing I found a little different was after having more than one dish on my plate I found some of it to be a little bit spicy hot more than other takeaways in the town. This was a bonus for my husband but something I would check on before putting on my plate. I still ate it and enjoyed it and am about to use them again.

Had Christmas dinner here for 7.75 was good and a massive plate with all the trimmings well worth a visit and bang in the centre of town

Not much to dislike. Good service, good value and consistently good food. It was a family run place now changed to Chinese and English food and now has a lot of competition in a town full of eateries , Coffe shops and Charity shop ever on the increase.

The food here is on the up again. I hadn't been in for a couple of months but I knew they do Chinese on some days at lunchtimes. I must admit I have a food allergy to msg and the staff there were fantastic and did me sweet and sour chicken and vegetable rice without this and it was absolutely lovely, it was pipping hot and very enjoyable and very nice to have needs catered for like they did today.

Don’t let the name “Gavin wok” put you off as it did my wife!! We had a delivery to Helions Bumpstead, they told her it was going to be 40 minutes, and 40 minutes later almost to the second it arrived.As said, my wife was not looking forward to this, but she was going to give it a go, and my what a great meal, and the sweet and sour chicken balls are massive and very tasty, the egg fried rice is top stuff one of the best I’ve had.Great takeaway, thank you.

This place use to be very good for food but today the broccoli was barely cooked and the toilet light in the gents isn't working and lights on the stairs haven't worked for weeks. This place is ok for food as I've said but maybe you can do better elsewhere.

This place is a cafe by day and a Chinese takeaway by night-this review is about the takeaway) I was recommended this Chinese takeaway by a friend, who said it was the best in town! Sorry but judging by the meal I started and sadly binned, I cannot agree. The egg fried rice was tasteless with big lumps of egg in it, the chicken balls were massive but pink in the middle so couldn't eat. The duck was solid and could barely get any meat off. The crispy chilli beef was nice though! The takeaway was busy, but not sure I would venture back in a hurry!

This place recently went under a major refurbishment and to be honest the seating area has shrunk. The Victoria sponge cake was very nice, the cream filling was really nice and generally a good cake but the cappuccino lacked a bit of froth. Also the seats aren't as comfortable as they use to be.Also, please be aware this place does offer English and Chinese food, if you have an allergy to MSG please warn the staff when you order to try and keep the English food away from Chinese in the kitchen. Also there's no disabled access, and the stairs may not be suitable to everyone so please be thoughtful as it is on the 1st floor with no lift access.

disappointing. I had passed this cafe several times and thought I would try it for lunch with a friend. The premises are extremely clean and light and airy - no problems there. The tea was like dishwater, the coffee was poor quality. We both had the fish and chips - dry, tasteless, cold chips. Really disappointing. The best thing about the lunch was the white bread and butter (they don't do granary or wholemeal apparently).

Good place to visit for good food in pleasant surroundings at lunch time. Variety of meals from liver and bacon, to burgers, to just a bowl of soup. Very reasonably priced
