We've been ordering from this Chinese since around 2012 when we moved to BSE. We have never had a bad Chinese. It's our favourite and even though we have now moved to Thetford I regularly drive here to collect a takeaway. We have eaten in once but normally get takeaway. The staff are always really friendly and accommodating and will make me what I like even though it's not on the menu. 🥰

Had delivery the worst chow mein ever had claggy soggy greasy and hardly any meat all ended up chucking it tasted like left from yesterday added oil and microwaved. Ordered satay beef and got beef black bean never will order again.

After waiting 45 minuites for delivery the food was awful !! Deep fried shredded beef soggy , beef curry Luke warm , did not receive bbq sauce but 2 sweet and sour sauces , chips soggy and reheated inedible , sent a message and was ignored , would not use or recommend

Came here as a group and had a nice evening. The food was good - I’ve had better takeaways but for the price you can’t complain at all. We felt we were getting our money’s worth! The selection was a little limited (no prawn toast, or salt pepper chicken, for example), but we still had a fair amount to choose from. We would highly recommend the bbq pork with mushrooms, mixed chow mein, beef in black bean sauce, and salt pepper spare ribs. We also had special fried rice and chicken balls with sweet & sour which were nice, and crispy chilli beef, which was fine. The service could have been faster, but to be honest it wasn’t a problem since we were in no rush! Value for money at £19 a head, you can’t get a cheaper takeaway here for sure. Everything was hot and fresh and we did enjoy ourselves. We’ll be back for sure, and it might even replace our regular takeaway nights since it would save us money!

Really overpriced for what you get. They staff did not care about allergies or intolerances, which made me feel very concerned about ordering. The food that did arrive was not a good quality and the staff seemed irritated by our custom.

Been a few times to the Golden City with friends making use of the all you can eat menu. The food is excellent and as it’s cooked to order, comes out fresh and hot. Portions are plentiful. £19 a head isn’t bad at all if you intend to have a good feed. Not restaurant itself is basic, but the staff are busy and efficient.

I have been wanting to try here for ages but never got round to it!! Unbeknownst to me, my Husband and a very close friend had arranged to come here for my surprise 40th & our eldest 18th birthday meal. I was last to arrive and got met with balloons and table confetti. Not long after I had arrived I was being asked if I wanted a drink, which was brought straight over. Shortly after we placed our food orders. There wasn’t much of a wait and the food that piping hot, fresh and delicious. A few things got forgotten 1st time we ordered then we asked for a few other dishes and those that we missed 1st time and everything came out. Absolutely no complaints for any of us. Then the Birthday cake came out. The whole restaurant sang happy birthday to myself and my son who turned 18 the day after. We had such a lovely evening followed by lush food. We will definitely be returning as a family of 4. Thank you for making mine and our sons birthday extra special!!

Been here many times as a big family it is ideal as everyone can order what the want and comes out buffet style. Have had take aways from here as well cannot fault them

Have been to the buffet style menu in restaurant and had deliveries from here. Never had any issues and always enjoyed my food.

Visited Golden city few times now, never seem to disappoint the food is really good, staff are very friendly overall the restaurant is very clean. Parking few minutes walk. It is a go to place if you have a friends and family gathering you will be very well looked after :)

They must be having a bad day, or maybe got a new chef. Ordered 2 of their #180 Golden City House Special Fried Noodles, which has always been a good choice. But not today. The noodles were all broken up into 1.5/2 inch pieces instead of whole noodles, and had very little flavour. The whole dish was underwhelming in taste. Very disappointing. If this is how they plan to serve their noodles going forward, I'm afraid they've just lost a customer

Couldn't fault the food. Didn't have to wait too long either. Staff friendly and polite. Prices £18-20 depending if you want duck or sea food. Will be back soon.

Love this place, food is fantastic and there's no fuss.

Ordered a take away and picked it up. It was ready when I picked it up. Taste and hot. Seems very similar or even the same auses used in a number of dishes and I suspect all bought in and added in house. These restaurants can be very samie. I suggest double checking price when you order as our menu had gone out of date.

Chicken balls was chewy. I asked for chips and didn't receive them when I called to ask why I didn't get them. I got the phone ended on me.

Not a pleasant experience. Indifferent staff who just pile mediocre food onto the table without care and attention. The chicken Thai curry was truly the worst thing I've eaten ( or didnt) . Translucent ghastly chicken, thick gravy like super sweet sauce. Just awful. Some dishes were OK particularly those that had been deep fried . The duck was OK again hardly open to error. Crispy fried beef and chicken were a mass of batter with hardly any actual meat content. You get what you pay for here and for £19 and a belly the size of a space hopper you'll be happy. As for me ? Never again duggie , never again.

Don’t waste your money here,take away was 2 hours.Portion sizes might be large but this slop is an insult to serve as Chinese food.If your a customer only worrying about how much you get for your money then this place is for you.Seriously guys change your day job.

We were supposed to have our works xmas party here in 3 weeks time. Got a call today telling me they have no room for us,still in shock over the way we have been treated,will never use this place again,so if u book a large table dont be to surprised if they let u down.

After trying other restaurants on Just Eat and being unimpressed we thought we would try Golden City direct. We were not disappointed, it arrived on time and the food was delicious and the portions excellent ! This will certainly be the chinese restaurant we go to for home delivery in the future. No need to look any further.

Sent the wrong food out after waiting nearly 2 hours then when I phone to complain they said the right food would take another hour had to argue to get a refund what a joke .

Excellent food. One of the best Chinese restaurants I have been to. Eat as much as you like for £16-£18 all freshly cooked to order.

Could not believe the large amount of tasty food per portion

Fantastic all you can eat, order off the menu whatever you wish. Dishes will be prepared and brought to table piping hot and really tasty. Very enjoyable and waiter didn’t hassle constantly for drinks to be purchased.

Ordered a delivery and two and half hour latter no food. When I rang they really couldn’t care less. Plenty other Chinese restaurants out there

Picked this Chinese on the spur of the moment. Covid regulations were in place. After picking from the menu all the food was brought to the table. Honey ribs were quite dry, chicken curry good, sweet & sour pork good, chilli fried beef good - Chicken Ball had too much fat dripping out of it for me. Service polite and unassuming £16 per head which I thought was quite expensive.

The food is brilliant. They do crispy seaweed, not many other's do! 👍

Great little spot! Nice staff, good food, and really fair prices! The honey beef dish we had was the only thing I'd complain about. The beef was a bit dry and discolored. Also, Be careful the chili's can be VERY hot! Another dessert item or two would be nice but that's just nit picking.

My partner ans I are regular visitors to the Golden City and it never disappoints. The food is all freshly cooked unlike many Chinese buffets and the quality is spot on. We are particular fans of the chicken noodles and beef and green pepper in black bean sauce. Always get a friendly welcome and would thoroughly recommend.

The staff seemed a bit tired, and confused, there were delivery men hanging around which I didn't like, lots of people kept coming in and out and to have a child's portion they asked to measure you at a certain height, not every child is 1 meter tall.

Take out or Dine in, the food is excellent and service attentive.

Go hear quite regularly when we fancy a treat. We normally choose the sit down buffet and pay a couple of pounds more for a wider choice , such as duck and king prawn dishes. Service is always quick, never had to complain about anything, food served piping hot.Have used the take away option and again never disappointed. I happily recommend this restaurant

First time visit here with the family & what an exceptional Chinese it is. All you can eat for £15/p, food is excellent, quick service, fresh food, nothing was a problem. The best Chinese food we have eaten in a long time. Definitely will be coming back.....

Ordered sweet and sour chicken balls, plain chow main beef in a honey sauce and prawn toast. sweet and sour chicken balls where okay but didn't taste right prawn toast just tasted of the sesame seeds, the beef in the honey sause sause was very runny like water didn't taste of honey, beef was over cooked, the plain chow main was just noodles not an achually chow main chow main consists of noodles onion and bean sprouts if I wanted plain noodles I would have ordered plain noodles one star food was awful and terrible will not be getting food from here again.. Would put no stars if I could

Firstly the food arrived late after 1hour and a half waiting. My favourite food is Chinese and this takeaway was one of the worst I’ve had. The food had a strange taste, even the egg fried rice. Won’t be visiting again.

Myself and 3 friends came in to dine on the 4th of February. We chose to eat the buffet and ordered a lot of food for everyone to share. Our server was rather rude and impatient and took orders for food that were never brought to the table. Towards the end of our meal we asked for another round of appetisers, to which our server responded “are you sure? You still have food left on your plates that you didn’t eat”. I was under the impression that the buffet was all you could eat. I’m rather disappointed with the service as I am in fact a server myself and so can easily recognise poor service. Sadly won’t be dining here in the future.

Ordered a meal for 21 on a Saturday night. Meal arrived dead on time with everything ordered. Was delicious. Everyone had a great time. Thank you very much. Superb food and service.

Useless customer service. Waited 30 minutes for food. Two people got theirs in front of me. One came back with my order. They charged me for the wrong food and wanted me to pay more to correct their mistake. Not apologetic and reluctantly gave me a refund when I didn't want to wait any longer.

Went with my wife for the evening buffet. The buffet comes in two options of either £13 or £15 a head. You are given a buffet menu to choose your food from. There is a good choice of starters, main courses and then either banana fritters or lychees to finish with. The £15 a head buffet gives you a few more dishes to choose from. For the extra £2 we thought it was well worth it as we are seafood fans. Service was good and food quality good enough for the price. Overall, quite happy with our meal, we recommend it and we will return again

I was able to book a table for 8 no problem. The food was cooked to order so everything w as piping hot. If you want more you could order more. Great Value polite helpful staff. I will be definitely be returning.

We had the buffet which really meant you ordered what you wanted and it was cooked to order. However, everything was covered in batter so it was impossible to tell the difference between the pork and the chicken, for example. The sauces only differed slightly. We didn't bother ordering anything else.

Okay prices but the buffet you have to order out the dishes and all of them seem to be the exact same thing noodles are okay but everything else is it some form of battered meat
