Service was slow, breakfast arrived cold and we had to send it back. Although staff were pleasant, service was really slow. No spoon or serviette offered. Waited so long we had to order another drink. M & S has certainly gone down hill👎🏻

We found ourselves at M&S cafe on a Saturday lunchtime. We ordered 2 x jacket potatoes and were told there was a 15 minute wait for hot food. Fine we thought! Half an hour later we chased up our food with one young girl who told us she would chase it up - nothing no food and no communication! After a further 10 minutes we caught hold of Ben (he is the one who earned the stars) … we told him we had now been waiting 40 minutes versus the 15 mins at the till. He apologised profusely and went off to the kitchen to find out what was happening. He came back and told us we should have been told it was actually a 30 minute wait but our food was being prepared but would be another 10-15 minutes … WHAT … nearly an hour for two jacket potatoes? When I said it was a joke he offered to hop into the kitchen and do them himself … which he did! Albeit manky burnt potatoes but he was the sole employee that seemed concerned, faced customers and tried to sort things out. M&S get a grip … get a manager or supervisor who can manage of supervise this cafe … and employ more BENS!!!!

What on earth is M&S doing? Surely they can organise a café by now? Several staff hovering around the service till, but unbelievably slow, disorganised and appear reluctant to engage with customers. I witnessed a number of confused orders, despite customers best efforts. The queue building to a ridiculous extent, outside into the nightwear department!forcing people to abandon hope and walk away! The tables not cleared, which really adds to the miserable experience. Don't bother, go elsewhere.

My wife ordered a coffee, till girl said is that all, no replied my wife and i ordered tea, is that all asked the till girl, no replied my wife i would like a jacket potato with chilli and avocado, are you sure, its a 20 minute wait for food was the reply, yes I'm sure replied my wife, is that all asked the till girl, no i said, i will have a jacket potato with cheese and beans, you do know its a 20 minute wait for these, yes i said. We then waited for 30 minutes, some of which was taken up by clearing a space and clearing up as the restaurant was quiet and the 70% of tables that were not occupied all had piles of empty plates from many other people who had cleared a space. Food arrived, one jacket potato with chili, avocado, beans and cheese. How, when we ordered separately ? No apologies just another 15 minute wait. If anybody cared they did a good job hiding it.

Called in with my wife for lunch and spent 5 minutes trying to find a clean table but had to settle for a dirty table that had been cleared but not sprayed and wiped despite it not being busy. The whole place looked like it needed a good clean and on looking through the kitchen open door we got the same impression. The food was very average but the whole experience was dreadful. What has happened to the Marks and Spencers of old when the staff cared.

On the last two occasions visited they ran out of food!!!!On the first they ran out of potatoes and on the second no baked beans. The fish served was not very nice!First why on Earth with a shop downstairs stocked to the brim full of high quality food why doesn’t the cafe go downstairs solving the issue of no food and avoid the issue of sub standard fish!!!!!!

Ate here with a friend for lunch and did not enjoy it at all. I had the all day breakfast, I found the quality poor and not what I would expect considering the quality of their food hall. My friend had a sandwich that she said tasted stale with chips but left a majority of it. On the good side tea and coffee were good!

I am currently sat in the M&S cafe as there doesn’t seem to be much choice of places to eat in the shopping centre. I purchased the turkey and bacon sandwich which is not only a rip off at £5.50, it was disgusting. Too much bacon, not enough turkey. I wasn’t given a plate to eat it off or even a napkin. When I asked if I could have a glass for my £1.95 can of M&S fizzy orange I was told to take one from over there. A nice plastic cup!!! The place is dreary and depressing. So please don’t waste any of your hard earned cash on eating in here.

If you want to come to a cafe with exceptionally large lamp shades (one might even say humungous) then this is the place for you. And that's by no mean a euphemism. 4 stars only as the cappuccino is more like a latte.

My husband and I visited M&S cafe for lunch. We had a bowl of soup each (spicy lentil) which was very good and two fresh small rolls each. I also had a cup of tea. The cafe was quite busy but clean. Usually you get a little biscuit with your hot drink but this was not on offer today for some reason

Been here a few times. Never any staff around. Tables always messy. Baring in mind this was towards the end of the day this particular visit and there was one other table other than ours. 3 staff members walked past the dirty tables seen in pictures attached. Nothing was cleared. Staff are very rude and always seem to chatter behind a door they think you can’t see through but you can. Staff are always in huddles chatting to each other and not attentive to customers in any way whatsoever. On a positive the food is always quite good however the service is disgusting!

Visited at 13:40 Empty display table with a few bits of cake is what greeted us at this newly refurbished cafe. Untrained staff operating the till lacking the skills to welcome the paying customer and smile. We were told there would be a delay if we wanted hot food. The sales advisor stated they were very busy. Not exactly a positive welcome. The place was pretty empty. Lots of empty tables....

Clean but soul-less. Perhaps I needed to have been with someone else rather than just by myself! Very light. Lots of people eating and drinking there... but rather lacking in atmosphere... The coffee and cake were fine. The service was okay but lacked human interest.

Where is the cafe in M&S; Tunbridge Wells? On the upper floor, through the ladies wear and then right through the greeting cards. Once you find it, there are plenty of tables and the usual totally reliable M&S; fare.

Capuchinos y Flat White, este tiempo promedio y podría haber sido un toque más fuerte y más caliente . Buena amable servicio así que en general muy bueno

Marks, and Spencer shop, and supermarket is located within the Royal Victoria place in Tunbridge Wells.I found it very hard to find the café which is located in the second floor on the extreme left, and hidden by the part of the store where they sell greeting cards. How odd!once inside it wasn't that bad as it looked, with plenty of helpful staff in hand, and a good selection of snacks and drinks. But it is not for me.

Not having ever read a Tripadvisor review of an M&S Café, I always thought that I was probably the only dissatisfied customer.Let me begin by stating the staff in this café are polite, friendly and willing to please. But . . . We Visited earlier in the month and observed the lady manager of the day being advised by a visiting M&S 'catering expert' on what he obviously felt needed improving. It all appeared to be about presentation and maximising sales. Not unreasonable you may think. But they never moved away from the food display and the rest of the café was ignored. I was somewhat amused at the 'public performance', but my long suffering wife would not allow me to but- in and inform them of what I consider to be their key failings (common to all M&S cafes) which I suspect never get addressed. So yesterday, as the choice of cafes in the retail park is so limited, we were forced to visit again. Yes, the shelves were full on this occasion, whereas on the previous visit there were indeed many missing items, but that was the only noticeable 'improvement'.Our visit began with my wife joining the queue while I went in search of a table. Having cleared our chosen table I settled down to observe the other customers on arrival going through the same process. By half way through our tea and cake I noted that we were, for a short while, the only occupied table left out of the ten in our section. Of the nine empty tables, six still had crockery etc on them. None of the three empty tables had been wiped! As Customers continued to negotiate the queues at the server, they were then faced with either wandered around looking for a clean table or moving rubbish to another table. Only one lady was clearing tables. She would load up a tray and disappear into the kitchen and not reappearing until sometime later to take the next one. The three members of staff behind the counter spent ages operating the coffee machines which slowed everything almost to a standstill (no uncommon these days in establishments where these dreaded machines operate).I suspect that M&S think that customers should not have to move their own trays full of crockery to an unsightly rack, but sadly the current alternative is much less acceptable. I hate sitting amidst uncleared and dirty tables. The answer is for the duty manager to ensure that there are sufficient staff to clear and clean tables. And before M&S assume that this was a busy period let me assure them that it certainly was not.But my pet hate is reserved for the minute milk thimbles. My wife does not have milk but we have two and I still have to face the embarrassment of going back to ask for more and having to either push in or hover around in the hope that eventually someone will acknowledge my presence. Again this is standard in all M&S cafes and no doubt M&S will assure everyone that virtually every customer they have ever surveyed assures them that they have more than enough milk for their needs in their thimble. Do M&S decision makers ever go to a normal tearoom? The menu is very limited and nothing ever seems to change, but no doubt some may argue that this is a good thing! However, you cannot argue about the proximity of tables or the uninviting decore as mentioned by other reviewers. Utilitarian is probably the best that you can say about it. Certainly not comfortable, cosy or inviting!M&S do lots of things very well but in my view their class and style does not extend to their cafes. Sadly I will undoubtedly continue to suffer many more miserable experience as M&S have a captive audience in many locations, but this one is worse than most!

Do not mix this café with its town centre counterpart. The M & S store on industrial estate is roomy, airy, friendly and most of the time ... empty! Except of course diring busy periods like Xmas and Easter. It's well hidden from public view at back of the food hall & homeware store. It's usually v quiet, bot because of the quality of service or that of its food offerings or beverages. It is the hidden gem of an otherwise soulless industrial estate, blighted by road works and a over development of housing. Go and enjoy their tea with a scone. Even the simplest of food will taste trn times more delicious than in neighbouring Costa due to the relaxed atmosphere and the very laid back but impeccanly trained staff. A breath of fresh air and delectable food in the midst of urban chaos! Well worth a visit.

This cafe could be a whole lot better and doesn't particularly promote M and S. The acoustics are poor and people often look very serious in there, there's no sense of pleasure, just somewhere to get a drink and a snack. It's one of those cafes where the knives run out in the tray and you have to ask for them to be replenished. A lot of people sitting around the edges looking fed up. There are very few sandwiches that are appropriate for vegetarians. The fruit scones are nice but it always costs much more than I expect. The only positive thing is the little shortbread biscuit you get with the tea.

Visiting the area and was recommended by our B&B host. Rang in advance to book a table and we did ask if there were veggie options as one of us is vegetarian. We were told there were but not as many as the meat and fish options. When we arrived there was only one vegetarian main course of Arranchini I asked if there was anything else and was told there wasn’t much call for veggie food there. Food was okay, expensive for the portion size and served without the option for extra vegetables, salads or breads. Decidedly average
