Been here numerous times and always been satisfied. A friend I popped for a drink and teacake. There was one table available which was two tables placed together. After being seated for around 10 minutes we were told that the tables would be spilt as others were waiting to be seated. We thought this a little strange as other couples were seated at tables for 4. My friend looked at the counter and no one was waiting. We left a minute later feeling very uncomfortable.

Steak bake is amazing, with a cozy atmosphere, it is really like the village bakery.

Food is high quality and displayed well. I ordered a hot sausage sandwich and an espresso. All very tasty. Unfortunately the girl server was not friendly & clearly smiling was hard work. Espresso was served in a large cup, which was daft, but worst of all: the plastic lid. I didn't want it. I hadn't even taken a sip of coffee, so handed it back. She put it straight in the bin. Insane.

I love the foodies from here and although a bit dear they are always fresh The young man who serves you is very polite but some one needs to just advise on his sandwich making and wrapping all the filling falls out and the paper is not completely on them

Worst experience ever. Rude staff calling us names. The guy handling our food wasn’t wearing gloves and asked him politely if he could, told us he didn’t have any. So was handling all the food with no gloves after touching money and cupboards. One of the staff called us ‘fags’. Had no manners when she told us to leave saying we’d be ‘fined’- when my friend had just bought food from their place. Not recommending it to anyone in congleton. Very disappointed. On the other hand the staff in cafe next door were lovely.

Chatwins are based in Nantwich, and have been in Congleton since 1982. My wife worked there for ten years, leaving in 2003. The food today is as good as ever, in fact, the meat and potato pies are even better! Since the refurbishment (2015?) they have a slightly smaller choice of cakes, but you can now get hot food to take out, for example a bacon bap or a hot beef sandwich. You can also get coffee and sit outside the shop in the main street (pedestrianised) and enjoy your food. I attend every Saturday and alway buy three gingerbread men for my grandchildren, and mother-in-Law has a white loaf saved. The quality of the food is first class, and the staff are very helpful.

Chatwins has long been established in Congleton, selling quality pies, bread, cakes etc. 2016 saw a shop re-fit and they now also serve hot food to take away and coffee, or you can sit outside, weather permitting.

Having been here before, it wasn't to bad. So we went again today Wednesday 28th June. There were only two young men, serving and cooking.and it was out of their control. Service was so slow. And the wait for food was disgusting and when we eventually got our food it was terrible. At least 3 others couples complained and walked out before they were servied thier food. 37 Pepper Street Nantwich really needs some help before it closes down

Good menu choice, food was very nice, we were surprised at the portion size which was big at such a very cheap cost.. it was well presented. Coffees were lovely.. the only negative comment I would give is that the inside could do with a fresh lick of paint & possibly a tidy up inside..

I first saw someone post about staying here on Instagram, and booked it for a romantic break with my Husband. We only live 30 mins away, but why not, eh?! We decided to push the boat out and stayed in the most expensive room - Picpoul. It had a separate seating area, along with a bathroom with roll top bath and separate shower up a short flight of stairs. The room was quirky and the bath was just devine! The only gripe was with the toilet which wasn’t very private - the way that the door is means that you can hear everything - perhaps not for new couples on their first break! It’d also have been good to have a mini fridge with milk for coffee and to store our drinks in. Nothing too much trouble and you can order stuff from the pub downstairs, which can just be added to your bill. The stay also includes a cooked breakfast, which was amazing! We ate in the pub too - absolutely loved it, very quirky and atmospheric. The ‘special’ lamb in a wild garlic veloute with potato rosti was honestly one of the best things I’ve ever eaten. Sticky toffee pudding crème brûlée also fab! Friendly waitress who made some recommendations on the wine and we had a giggle with. Popped over the road for a couple of drinks at the Bulls Head, which was a lovely pub too. Can’t wait to come back!

What a disappointment! We loved going to Pecks so decided to try the new venue. The service was slow, our party of 4 had 3 starters come out and whilst waiting for the 4th there food went cold! We ordered drinks that never came so we cancelled and the cauliflower cheese was awful , hard Cauliflower in a very watery sauce. Very overpriced to say the least! Sorry Pecks we won't be back , such a shame!
