M&S Cafe in Cornwall, Isles of Scilly

Lack of staff - machines now rule Somewhat disappointing to see the tills and staff have all been removed from the upper men’s and children’s department, no assistance available, the changing room is now unstaffed. Downstairs in the clothing department just two members of staff, it’s a do-it- yourself now, not sure why M&S have decided to remove its sales staff, no assistance, in my opinion it’s a significant backward step. Might as well shop online and have delivered as the experience of shopping in store has gone. Personally don’t wish to scan myself,

Wanted a toastie at 3.15pm. All still available to pick but told at till that can’t do hot food after 3pm. Ridiculous! No notice anywhere to inform the customer & all food that needed heating up was still available on the shelf. Loads of staff but none seem to know what they’re doing. Prime afternoon tea time.

Going for lunch we picked the fish finger sandwich and a side order of chips, poached eggs on toast and a tea and a coffee. The fish finger sandwich and chips was ok, the poached eggs were on a cold side plate with a slice of toast alongside them, nothing else and to add to the problem the coffee was brown water with a hint of coffee. Avoid!

One staff member behind the counter. She was serving AND making all the drinks. I waited 15 minutes in the queue and I was still behind four other people. A potential wait of another 10 minutes. Other staff were clearing tables and washing up. Unacceptable wait for two coffees. More staff needed or management to better prioritize waiting customers.

Visited the Hayle Branch Cafe around midday and although there were plenty of tables available virtually every single one had used cups, plates, discarded food etc on it. The napkin dispenser was empty, no small plates were available for scones, the Americana coffee was quite weak. Disappointing.

Cafe - although long wait for coffee the service was very friendly Toilets - were a complete disgrace good job I carry my own anti bac tissues as I felt that I couldn't even use the taps to wash my hands no staff around to let them know but this should be dealt with anyway!!! No hand sanitiser on entry again no one around to let them know

We visited the cafe at M&S in Hayle for brunch recently. We both chose frittatas. We were expecting the usual M&S standard of product, but unfortunately, they were a bit bland and not very exciting. I'm not sure whether these were M&S products or brought in from another supplier? I think we'll stick to coffee and cake in future. Sorry guys, we eaten here before but I felt this time it fell short of our expectations. Hopefully my comments will help improve the frittatas for the future for someone else maybe.

Useful location and good quality food for any occasion. Close by to where we were staying and M&S is always good!

Needed a suit in a pinch, didn't have my size in stock for the blazer but was able to order on the spot and collect the very next day. Very helpful and professional staff.

Very busy when we visited. Covid restrictions in place. Food was quick staff very friendly. Every where was extremely clean and well-kept

The only thing I’m not keen on is the parking at this place. Spaces seem tight, very busy area with the other businesses located here. Nice staff and clean place.

This restaurant is situated upstairs and was busy with Christmas shoppers enjoying a well-earned break. The staff were friendly and helpful even though there was a long queue. We had Americano coffee and toasted sandwiches (emmental and mushroom, turkey and bacon). Both were well-filled. The mince pies were delicious.

We vist this cafe regularly for a coffee and a light meal when shopping in the shopping park. We find that this cafe offers a reasonble choice and the staff are pleaseant

Three of us called in for a light lunch - the vegetable soup was lovely and hot. Another had a selection of sandwiches. Would recommend.

A lovely busy upstair resurant with plenty of room to move about after a shopping spree in the store. The chicken, bacon (crispy) and a good amount of Parmigiano-Reggiano included with a wonder salad and completed with fresh bottle lemon lemonade (Delightful). My friend and myself enjoyed the light lunch before continuing our shopping. The resturant was spotlessly clean and service was great. It did not take many minutes for our meal to be served at our table. Thanks to all the friendly staff.

Came with a friend today for lunch and am very disappointed. Had to ask for a cloth for the table to be wiped. Ordered the chicken burger which was really tasty and added chips for £2.50. A tiny bowl of around 10 chips appeared and I couldn’t finish them as they were so dry I couldn’t swallow them after a few. I noticed a male in a green t shirt was eating behind the counter while stocking up on display food.. surely this is not allowed? He later decided to take his phone out behind the counter and ignore the older lady trying to get his attention... this could probably be viewed on the cctv.. the ice cream sundae however was delicious, although my chocolate one came out very confused as I had toffee sauce and fudge instead of choc sauce and choc button!!service was extremely slow, although the staff were lovely and pleasant, nobody was in a rush to do anything and I would not recommend this cafe at all.

The lady serving was pleasent but so terribly slow at serving.To be fair she was operating the till and making drinks but there was no speed in either and took 10 mintues to serve 3 customers. After being served had another wait for cutlery which had run out and had to remind staff a second time we were waiting as none appeared. After all this the clotted cream for our scones had melted and tea cold. The tables were being cleared but not cleaned. Not what you'd expect from this brand. Very disappointed.

Stopped in there for a quick cup of tea and a toasted tea cake mid afternoon. Busy but usual service. Free WiFi! Large store.

A nice hot chocolate and a toasted tea cake on a wet November day...just the ticket.Really great service...grab the tea cake, hand it over and it is delivered to your table hot and with plenty of butter. Excellent hot chocolate to go with it. Nice atmosphere and if you can grab a window seat you can do some people watching.

Thought we would try M&S's scones, tried both the cheese and fruit scones, absolutely delicious, yummy 😋

We like to take part in the M&S; meal deal and took the opportunity to call in to this branch whilst we were not far away with our touring caravan in Penzance.

We went to the cafe for tea as part of our wedding anniversary The chicken patata was £7.95 and was about the size of a starter and the cloudy lemonade was an artificial and bitter £2.75 - served in a plastic cup. Their cream tea wasn't up to much either - one small scone, tiny amount of jam and cream. Service was abysmal too. For £14.20, I expected better.

Popped into M&S; Cafe in Hayle while out shopping with the mother-in-law.

I had the unfortunate experience of ordering breakfast here on the 05/05/2018.

Absolutely filthy. Dirty tables and floor. It’s getting worse by the week. Where is manager??? Very slow service at tills. Needs totally reorganising ASAP

We enjoy M and S for coffee wherever we are but we are very sad to see our local branch slipping more and more into decline each time we go.

This 1st Floor Café has been open a few years now and this was not our first visit, but sadly since our last visit a few years ago nothing has improved. The floor covering is now in urgent need of replacement, hazard tape in being used to hold down the broken and cracked floor areas. This is an old style counter layout originally with a hot food service point at the start of the counter, long since abandoned, on the day of our visit once again only one staff member was serving and also dispensing the hot drinks and taking the money. Most of the tables were full with discarded wrappers and dirty crockery, simply no staff working the Café. Eventually found a table and waited for our hot food to arrive, the toasted sandwich whilst hot was not presented in a very appealing manner, our drinks whilst being actually hot for a change, we got little more than one cup of tea from the teapot. Whilst eating some effort was made to clear some of the tables, yes it was around 1pm but was far from busy when we entered. The Café has a very drab feel to it and always has been the same, the views sadly are of the Car Park below. Room for much improvement on many levels but much in need of refurbishment.
