M&S Cafe in Canterbury

Breakfast was cold - only the beans were hot. Didn’t have time to ask them to heat it up. Not happy at all

M&S scones are THE best! Not liking the change of coffee machine, the temperature is only JUST hot not good enough. Bring back the old proper machines.

Eggs Benedict. The plate was COLD. The sauce was COLD. The ham was COLD. The muffin was COLD. Even the eggs were only warm. And when I specifically asked for extra hot coffee, it's no different to normal temperature. A rethink please.

No vegan option pastry, cake or biscuits. Service quite fast. Friendly. Wouldn't come again as vegan options on all meals and snacks incredibly limited

A quick stop for coffee whilst visiting Canterbury. Tables needed clearing prior to sitting we ended up doing it ourselves as not sure if they had staff doing it. Staff behind counter serving drink and food were lovely and polite and clearly enjoyed their job. M&S drinks are standard so not much more to say there.

I had to get a bunch of serviettes to clean the filthy table and chairs before I could sit down to eat. The new thing is no saucers with tea so there is nowhere to put the tea bag when removed from the tea pot (would be too strong if tea bag left in pot to stew). No where to put the wet teaspoon either as there isn't a saucer. The floor was littered with rubbish and spilt food. Only once was the tables cleared whilst I was there (following my comment to staff) but the tables were not wiped. On the window there is a hygiene rating of 5! Must have been inspected out of hours. When I go out to eat it costs me more than eating at home but I wouldn't eat with such conditions at home.

Really very disappointing visit to M&S cafe upstairs. Very short staffed, the same as the previous visit. Tables not cleared and when they were, they were left dirty. The staff were doing their best but are run off their feet. No one taking charge and getting tables ready, it used to be so much better in there. On a positive note, staff were friendly, free fruit for children is a nice touch which they all enjoyed. And currently children eat free with an adult paying £5.

So disappointed today in the cafe , only one guy doing teas & coffee, one older lady doing hot food she looked shattered, my tea pot had a broken lid which obviously had been washed & should gave been put in the bin , the fruit scone I had was soo dry it crumbled as I cut it , dirty tables, only one little girl clearing , not in any hurry to go back there again ..

Visited the cafe for tea and scones. Waited in queue for ages as the guy serving was alone and overworked. There were three women preparing food but not helping the guy out. He had to wash teapots as well as making drinks. A women behind me just left her tray of food and walked out saying she had only a parking ticket for an hour. There was also a shortage of trays. Then top it off the toilets were closed.

Useful cafe, although everything seemed rather once paced and short staffed. Bacon rolls and green teas took a while to come, but were much enjoyed. It is nothing particularly special but gave us a break from travel and shopping.

Returned to the Canterbury cafe after lockdown. Surprise to find a new menu , no sandwich’s only a poor selection of toasted sandwiches. I tried the tuna and cheese which was horrible under toasted mess. It just surprised me they have changed a perfectly good menu to this terrible new one.

Handy spot, nice staff, but the M&S coffee blend was foul and left a horrible taste in my mouth. I recommend you try the more expensive Brazilian coffee instead. My daughter liked the hot chocolate.

Called in for coffee and tea cakes whilst in Canterbury thinking it would be of a high standard during these Covid times. Creamy coffee and hot tea cakes with lashings of butter. Gorgeous. Staff polite but in a fluster re track and trace. Social distancing easy as tables well laid out but I did notice that although tables wiped down when ladies cleared the tables, the chairs and tables were not sanitised. This is important to kill the virus and stop it spreading. We used cafe upstairs as downstairs cafe too busy.

Got told off for eating a sandwich with my coffee in the Canterbury M&S cafe - a sandwich that I’d just purchased in the adjoining M&S food hall because there were no vegetarian options in the cafe, and I was hungry. I’m a middle aged woman not prone to acts of social terrorism so next time I find myself hungry in M&S I’ll remember to stuff the sandwich in my face while hovering in the interface between M&S food hall and M&S cafe before proceeding to purchase my coffee. Wouldn’t want to inconvenience anyone in the M&S management who get easily disturbed by maverick customers. On second thoughts, I’ll go to Costa. P.S. the sandwich was sh.. horrid, but the cakes looked nice, mind ...

Love eating at M&S - the food is always nice to eat and the staff friendly and helpful. I would recommend the sandwiches and/or cheese scone with coffee or one of their cakes. It lives up to the standard of the M&S food.

We had a snack lunch at the café in the precinct today, I was impressed to find that not only did they have on offer gluten free sandwiches, but a choice of 2. Thank you m & sIf only every coffee shop and café would take a leaf out of their book!

We were in Canterbury for the day. Decided to to get something to eat so popped in here. The 4 of us decided to have afternoon tea. It was great really fresh and would recommend to anyone to have it.

Been visiting this cafe almost every day for several years but never again. A brief encounter with the cafe manager who explained that I could not sit outside and consume a product the cafe sell but had no stock, so was purchased in the connecting food hall - due to not paying enough VAT! Can see why M&S are in trouble if this is how their management deal with loyal customers!

I would like to point out in this review my comments refer to the Cafe on the lower floor at your Canerbury premises.It's my favourite place for a flat white coffee and the selection of Sandwiches,Cakes etc is very good.However sitting in there today (May Day) was shocking, the Cafe was pretty quiet yet there were tables with dirty pts left on them, two of which weren't cleared the whole time we were in there. We saw one staff member attempting to clear a couple of tables in what seemed like slow motion but didn't wipe any clean.There was food and paper under and around most tables and the floor was dirty. Despite all this there were four members of staff all stood behind the counter chating despite there being no customers in need of being served.Is this really the image M&S wish to portray. Tho we did have a chuckle as I'm sure many other people have when reading the very large sign on the back wail saying We're not just a Cafe we're a M&S Cafe. Come on M&S surely you can do better.

Je connais ce restaurant depuis 25 ans, mais nous avons étés très déçus de notre petit déjeuner ce 9 Avril...trop cher pour ce que c'est! Pas de proposition enfant...Il nous a fallu payer le prix adulte en ayant fait retirer la saucisse, les champignons, les tomates...et payer un supplément pour avoir des baked beans !!!Service très long , alors qu'il n'y avait pas grand monde.Dommage.

My favourite place for a cup of tea.You can get fresh pastry or scones right from the fresh bakery in the shop.friendly staff and spacious ,they even offer outdoor sitting during nice weather.Convieniently in the shopping center.i had a wonderful experience.

Very disappointed, ordered a cheese jacket potato and was cold, and potato had that 'old' cooked taste. Sent back, no problem, but when the second one came, no better. returned and had my money back.

Visited for a coffee and spot of lunch. Good selection of sandwiches and light bites for lunch, although had obviously been a busy day as there were lots of tables needing cleaning and the floor needed sweeping. Service was fine, and food came out very quickly. Sounds great, but I had only just sat down and poured me tea and my disabled Mum had to use the toilet. Sadly these were on the third floor of the whole shop, so the food arrived just after she left and was cold by the time she came back, I asked the kitchen to keep it warm but they said they had no facilities. I would expect a cafe of this size to at least have a disabled/family toilet, what would a Mum or Dad do if they were on their own with a couple of children! So sadly because of this the overall experience was disappointing and we won't be going back.

Really enjoyed our first visit to M & S Cafe as part of a Coach Trip to Canterbury - staff really friendly, cheerful and helpful - enjoyed capuccinos in the morning, and white hot chocolate in the afternoon and bought our Turkey Feast sandwiches for the trip home.

Oh dear scrambled egg served cold and no tomato sauce for sausage sandwich! You are a food retailer this is not good enough! Your customer focus has really gone down hill since Stuart Rose left! At least the food quality was good!?

Best to pick an alternate for a lunch or mid-afternoon meal. Absolutely nothing special and service was APPALLING.

This is a lovely little cafe: good range of cakes, snacks and coffee/tea. However it is spoilt by amateur service and very little concept of good customer approach.

Great snacks and drinks in centre of the city. Reasonably priced and a link to the main shop when finished to lead you into the food court. Gets busy so wait around is something we are used too. However it’s only a few minutes.

Asked for a side of beans with my scrambled egg on toast and disinterested waitress tells me " naaah, you can't it interferes with stock" bad bad service

Well it all looks good and trendy, but this place of great potential is no better than an average cafe. So you walk into the ground floor eatery and see the communal tables and low shelves of perhaps tempting food. But the service is slow to non existent. The tables could really do with a good wipe. The staff mostly lack enthusiasm and willingness. Kind of like the staff at the other M&S cafe on the Sturry Road. This could be a great eatery, looking out onto a busy square and fitting in with the bustle of Canterbury. It's hard for me to say so, (I like M&S) but this so called eatery is just average with a long way to go before it becomes any good.

Treated ourselves to lunch, fish and chips. Chips were under cooked, mushy peas were cold and the fish just about acceptable. Not exactly a cheap meal either. Would never have expected this from Marks and Spencer, and certainly will not be eating there again.

We sat 25 minutes on a dirty unclean and full of used utensils table without a waiter or waitress cleaning it. We asked twice a waitress moving around us but were greeted with a lipid and transparent grimace.We were unable to move to anothe table and we tried to clear the table ourselves but were asked not to do that...so we just left.We bought from inside the supermarket some truly nice pastries and ate them outside in the cobblestone road with a coffee from a nearby coffee shop. By all means buy pastry from there or sandwiches and salad. By no means get trapped in an unfriendly atmosphere served by waiters with a grudge .....are they well treated by the company? Do they really care for the company image?Marks and spencer job is not catering or restaurateur. I buy my clothing there. But food? No....

Was so busy we didn't wait to get served,so just shows how popular this place is,can't fault M&S FOOD.

What can I say ? Just what you would expect nice tea and selection of cakes as you would expect from marks. Reasonable price and very popular

we popped into this café whilst visiting Canterbury for afternoon tea, the service was very slow, as it was not very crowded, we ordered a Latte coffee and pot of tea and 2 slices of Carrot cake, but unfortunately I found a very long hair in the middle of my cake, I took it back to the lady that served me and she did offer me another slice of cake but I didn't take up her offer and we decided to leave.

Staff serving were not aware of what was available and suggested buying food in the food hall and bring it through to eat in the cafe. Tables not being cleared and a long queue.

Out Christmas shopping today and we both decided to stop here for a much needed coffee. I had an Americano and my friend a cappuccino. We also had a lovely cheese scone with butter to accompany our drinks. Very tasty. The place was very busy,as were the Staff. We enjoyed our nice coffee break and felt able to continue our shopping after a while.

Come here quite regularly, it's normally busy with older people saving tables before they have food which is difficult when you're alone and walking round with a tray trying to find a seat.Had the macaroni cheese (very expensive at £6 for some pasta, cheese sauce and salad)When I paid I handed the guy behind the till my bottle of coke, he took it but looked at me like I was an idiot asking why I had handed it to him. Didn't realise M&S expected everyone to carry bottle top openers on them!

Being a frequent visitor to both outlets at this store and never had any room for complaint. Saturday was a different kettle of fish. I ordered a coffee mocha, when it was presented to me it was nothing short of a wishy, washy hot chocolate. When I questioned the 'state' of the drink I was told that was how it was made - and all I was getting was a hot chocolate with a dash of coffee. That is not the definition of mocha, as far as I am concerned mocha is a cup of coffee, with milk, foam and a dash of chocolate. I asked if I could have some foam at least but I wish I hadn't of bothered: in all it was the worse mocha I have ever had.

Use this cafe frequently, the staff are always polite and service is good. Cakes are nice and fresh. Varied menu offering pre packed toasted sandwiches. Coffee is always nice and hot. Good place to sit and people watch!

It isn't the cosiest of Cafe's and it doesn't have the plushest surroundings .... but it conveniently situated (with It's own outside entrance) in the centre of city centre shopping .... and you can rely on M&S quality and attention to cleanliness (with reasonable sensible prices) to be there for youWe often find ourselves gravitating in this Cafe's direction for essential rest and refreshment .... rather than the more expensive adjacent brandsThis time it was for an excellent Butter Croissant!

We did not notice this place until our second day at Canterbury lodge. We shopped our fruits, vegetables and food then we had our tea time for a break at this place. The price was good and we had soup of the day which was very good when I was hungry and needed a place to sit and have a cup of tea. Nice spot to have a cup of tea.

As I now live in Canterbury I use the cafe so that I can sit outside and people watch. The cafe is as good as any in the area. Like most of the cafes device could be faster. Also you normally have to ask for a glass and ice for a soft drink.

On our first visit we 'dared' to enquire if we could have 'Skimmed Milk'... and after being audibly berated in front of the other staff and Customers we vowed never to return!...but you know 'How it is'!(a-i) So, (in April) we returned...(a-ii) We had some valid vouchers for a certain dish...(a-iii) ...but it was... unavailable!(a-iv) ... ... The staff (in April), admirably and enthusiastically, said they'd ask "upstairs" if the particular dish we wanted was available...(a-v) We waited.... and eventually it turned out that what we wanted, succulently promoted from the flyer accompanying our previously received e-menu, and from the physical menu at the end of the serving area remained... "unavailable"(a-vi) So we left.......AND...(b-i) So, (in May) we returned...(b-11) We (still) had some (in date) valid vouchers for a certain dish...(b-iii) ...but it was, again, unavailable!(b-iv) ... ... The staff (now in May), admirably and enthusiastically, said they'd ask "upstairs" if the particular dish we wanted was available...(b-v) We waited.... and eventually it turned out that what we wanted, from the flyer accompanying our seemingly still-valid e-menu, and again, also, from the physical menu at the end of the serving area remained... "unavailable"(b-vi) So we left....Once again...My friend has shut-down her long-standing monthly payment (aka "Direct Debit") to M&S's 'food club', or whatever it was called, because it's no longer worth the expenditure.Sadly... The poor(ly) (non-existent(ce) of?) promoted foodstuffs at the Canterbury restaurants have let this once 'Stalwart Brand' down... We will more than likely no longer stop off at this site.

We went here with my family for a quick lunch when we came to visit my sister. The food is really good and fresh! The sandwiches are simple and tasty! The hot meals are also delicious!

I had several lunches here in February, using their upstair cafe, not the one at the street level. The servings were a bit small for the price, but the place was clean and I was always able to find a table.

We stopped here for a warm up and a nice cup of tea which you can always get at an M & S cafe. The cafe was full but we found a space and spent a relaxing 45 mins

Lovely staff who go out of their way to help you.As I was in a wheelchair, I gave the nice food restaurant girl my money and she got me my baked products which I wanted to take home for tea!No problem , no questions asked! Fab service. Reasonable prices, good access for disabled !Well worth a visit!

We had a tea cake and tea which was nice however we had to stand around before someone was able to clean the table. It would seem one member of staff was managing all of the tables on her own? The rest of the food was very over priced for what it is! Table and chairs uncomfortable and nasty atmosphere!

A wonderful Cafe with great choice of food and drink located within marks and Spencer and right in the heary of the City.

My husband, daughter and I had a lovely afternoon tea in the second floor cafe in store. Scrumptious scones and closed cream. Tasty sandwiches and unusual cakes. Value for money.

I was so disappointed. Usually I always think of M and S as a really nice store with really nice quality food. How wrong I was. We experienced a really poor breakfast. A slice of toast with egg bacon and Tomato it cost over £3.00 was really dry and total waste of money. Never again

Came here for a light lunch and rest from shopping, the coffee was nice, but the food was pretty average at best. The cod and chips was more of a kids-size meal but the jacket potato was a little better (though cost almost half the price of the cod and chips). Also no sauces available as they'd run out, which I didn't really understand as they advertise all the food has come from the store next door - clearly not the sauces! A little disappointing going by M&S usual standard.

The staff are always helpful And if the sun is out lovely to sit outside and people watch 🌞 Even better if you have M&S vouchers from their credit card!

As with all M&S cafes fair trade tea and coffee and good standard and range of food. Cappuccino coffee is my favourite.

Basically as you'd expect. Good quality, everything nice and tasty, normally have a toasted cheese and ham sandwich which is nice but last time had a pulled pork pie, it was really very good indeed. I mean, it's still a cafe but it's an M&S cafe.

Visited late morning for a cup of tea and snack. This used to be one of the best cafes for breakfast, brunch or afternoon tea. Waited an age to be served while the staff stood by as they each did part of the meal. I ordered a bacon egg and tomato roll and asked that the bacon be well cooked. I was told as it was made in a factory and put in an oven it could not be adjusted. All the freshly prepared food had disappeared. My companion ordered chips that were burnt. Truly dreadful and cost nearly ten pounds for nothing worth eating. 2teas a biscuit a cake and a few chips. Avoid

Popped in for a coffee whilst shopping in Canterbury. Place was busy and yet the staff didn't seem to care about the dirty tables and crockery that needed clearing away. Ordered 2 flat white coffees that were in my opinion overpriced!When I took the first mouthful of mine it actually made me shudder! It was awful!! I knew I couldn't drink mine and my hubby (who never leaves anything as he hates waste) felt the same about his. I am not sure if it was the skill (or lack of) of the staff making the drink, or the rubbish coffee bean used, but I can say it was probably the worst coffee I have ever had. Don't waste your hard earned money in this place!!!

Have been here in the past for very nice sandwiches and snacks, but last time I visited, I sat at a dirty table, and perused the menu. When I saw the ridiculous price of a sandwich, I left! Won't be back!!

It took ages for someone to show us to our seats, so we decided to seat ourselves. Eventually when someone did ask us what we wanted to eat then it came out in stages. As a matter of manners and principal three out of four of us waited until the forth plate came out, during that time the food went cold. When we did remind the staff they had no record of the forth plate and took ages to bring out a simple order. The restaurant wasn't even half full so no pressure on the staff. Really terrible atmosphere was then created when we had to pay a full price for cold food. Wouldn't recommend that anyone goes there even for a simple coffee as your probably receive tea 20 minutes later after reminding the rude, ignorant staff!!

M&S Kitchen was particularly quiet at the time of our visit but after waiting longer than necessary to be seated in a cafe that was less then a third full with what appeared to be many available staff, we decided to seat ourselves! The tables were dirty with crumbs left by the previous occupants but nevertheless, when a young member of staff approached to take our order we proceeded to choose four hot meals from the breakfast menu and four hot drinks. The drinks turned up within a few minutes, the food however, was a different story! During our 25 minute wait we witnessed two couples leave due to not being seated and another couple walk out having not received their drinks yet. When three of our four meals eventually did turn up we assumed the remaining one was on its way.......but after a further 10 minutes it was safe to say it had been forgotten! After reminding the member of staff at the counter, the first member of staff came back to the table to apologise....and remind himself what was missing from our order in the process! Having been promised the missing breakfast in '2 secs' we anticipated yet another long wait. Needless to say, when it eventually turned up a full 40 minutes after we made our original order, the other meals had gotten cold through waiting out of politeness! We pride ourselves on being a family with manners and believe its rude to start until everyone has a meal in front of them. We requested to have everything warmed up so we could attempt to enjoy it but by this point it was too late. After making a complaint to the manager we were refunded one of our four breakfasts and given a voucher for a free hot drink, but we won't be returning. The only saving grace was the lady behind the counter!

My and I called in for a "quick" decaf coffee mocha, one tea and a croissant. We were shown to a table straight away and we ordered there and then as otherwise the staff member gives you a menu and then you have to wait until they return! We had to wait over 20 minutes for 3 simple items and that was after reminding them. Also the cafe was two thirds empty so there was no pressure on the staffThey do not give you a bill when they serve so you have to go the counter to pay and tell them the table numberUnfortunately the service has become very sluggish in recent monthsThis contrasts with the cafe In M&S Westwood where upon arrival you queue at one of two counters. They then prepare the drinks immediately and at the same time you payThis is far more convenient for the customer plus there is a faster turn around on the tables thereby increasing turnover for M&S

I don't think M&S really know how to run a café. I went in expecting a cut above the other coffee shop chains, but was underwhelmed. All was just...OK. There's so much choice in Canterbury that you really have to stand out - M&S didn't.

I have just recently come back from Canterbury an idillic place in Kent with lots of lovely buildings and culture. I was with my wife and grandaughter for the day in which we popped into M&S Kitchen for a quick lunch. Obviously that was the wrong wording they really do need to take a note from their main stores if your going to open a sort of restaurant where you wait to be seated etc and have waitress service then do it properly. The reason I say this was there seemed a lot of staff doing nothing or running around but not busy, There was one girl on the drinks machine who seemed a bit busy it took 18 minutes from sit down to 3 drinks and 2 lots of scones to arrive but they sat on the counter for about 3 mins I had to get up and let them know it was for us and of course we were catching a trian back up North. On the plus side Ruth did very well considering but I felt that the ederley lady who seemed to have paid was getting a lot of grief about not paying that they wanted to review cctv footage for a 1.80 cup of coffee with her, Seems a shame for such a nice place with a M&S reputation never mind nice but must try harder would be the best score I could give. For £15.85 for 3 HOT drinks some scones and a cake I'm sure there are other chains that would be better and more value. I did give a tip but that was more for Ruth than the team as a whole.

It is my 1st time patronising M&S Kitchen. It serves breakfast, lunch, tea and dinner. The place is spacious with many seats.

I have been many times to eat here and it seems progressively to deteriorate. I think that the changes implemented has meant a lowering of standards. I found the waiters greeting of hi guys to people 3 or 4 times his age inappropriate this being coupled with an half hour wait for puddings and enquiring about them after an earlier 20 minute wait. The final nail in the coffin was being overcharged quite substantially.The only redeeming person was the meet and greet waiter who was courteous and pleasant.

Situated close to one of large car parks in Canterbury this is a great stop off on route. I was really pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food (though the plates are incredibly large making the portions look small). The staff were great making space for my little girl and talking to her animatedly (she's 1 years old so was much appreciated). Will definitely go back.

We entered here somewhat grudgingly. We were tired, famished and too fed up to hunt further. I was surprised to find that this was not a cafeteria, but a place with restaurant type food. So there were no baked potatoes (as I'd been planning on having). We settled for lasagne. It turned out to be nice large portions, and to my utter surprise, the best lasagne I have ever eaten! The meat was chopped rather than mushed mince, and the flavour was wonderful. It tasted authentic, worthy of being served in Italy! have no idea if the other dishes are as good, but I would certainly go back for that lasagne. Sometimes the nicest things turn up in the most unexpected places.

I usually enjoy a snack in here but lately have found the overwhelming smell of bleach from the cleaning processes unpleasant enough to drive me out. I know cleaning has to be done but it seems excessive compared to a lot of other cafes I visit and I would prefer the smell of food to dominate.

My friends and I come here all the time - it's GREAT. Fantastic value for delicious food, with normally great service. The menu is very varied, with calorie information too and at very reasonable prices. They have takeaway too,Which is great and they serve breakfast till 12 which is really fantastic!Only criticism would be that they don't stay open quite late enough. But for the price you're paying, the food is normally excellent. I'm yet to find something on the menu I don't like (Eggs Benedict is my favourite so far....)

Took advantage of their £10 lunch offer which consists of a main course, pudding and a (smallish) glass of quite decent wine. We chose the fish pie which was not the biggest meal I have ever had but was very enjoyable. Pud consisted of an apple flan served with ice cream and custard and could not be faulted. Service was quick, efficient and friendly. My only complaint was the bench seating which was too low for the table but other than that I was impressed. Excellent vallue.

All we wanted today was a quick sandwich so we called in to the M&S Kitchen, but after 30mins we still hadn't got any food so we paid for our drinks and left. Found a lovely new place in the High Street called Brunch and would definitely recommend it.

Only tried this establishment for lunch and the like, but good quality and freshly cooked food with a fair choice.

Visited this yesterday afternoon and was utterly disgusted.One Girl making drinks with four customers waiting.The Guy on the till then decides to go for his teabreak leaving her to do the drinks and the till.Half the tables full of dirty crockery and uneaten food, food all over the floor with no one clearing tables or floor.Boardering on a health hazard.Consider the store generally has gone downhill since the departure of Stuart Rose.

It always surprises me why so many customers patronise the M&S Kitchen when there are so many other cafes in Canterbury offering better tasting coffee, better quality food and a greater selection in a more pleasant setting. The tables are generally cramped and the wait at the self-service counter is quite irritatingly tedious. If thequality of the resulting food or beverage matched the quantity of the price there may be a reason to tolerate the inconvenience but it doesn't. Too many times I have been thoroughly disappointed and uninspired. M&S Kitchen? Can do better.

This was our second visit to the kitchen, this time for lunch. The food was very good and the staff was helpful. Would recommend it to people for good value and very good food with a good selection of food but only 3 desserts on the menu. By the way if you are calorie counting it does have how many calories each meal contains.

Standard M & S kitchen/diner fare, all served up in an open plan, diner layout, brightly lit. We were quickly placed at 12.30, given menus, and encouraged to order promptly from a brunch/diner menu of some variety with a couple of carvery options (beef or pork in a chunky bread sandwich). Also a £10 quick menu: main (inc. carvery sandwich) + dessert + glass of wine: which appears pretty reasonable.Drinks arrived promptly.But then ...a Very Long Wait for mains; repeated for the dessert.All done with a friendly smile - and a plausible-seeming explanation from the Supervisor.However: not a hint of an apology - or recognition of potential for customer inconvenience.This was a tad surprising.£10-12 per person.

I had a bacon sandwich and medium latte. But the cakes looked good as well. Nice to find well trained staff.

I visited with my sister and brother in law, we had to wait about 10 minutes for a table as it was a rainy day and it was lunchtime. Staff were excellent, gave usa menus to choose form whilst we were waiting. i had the tomato and basil soup.One of the best soups ever pieces of tomato made in a typical italian way. My sister and brother in law had the smoked salmon and prawn sandwich, it was huge, they had to cut it into 4 pieces to eat it, and it was well worth the 4.95 it costs. I would deinately go there again and probably havbe a carvery sandwich which looked delicious.

Good food as you would expect from M&S but the service is shambolic but I suppose that's expected in a cafeteria situation.

Great for breakfast and a light lunch, excellent surroundings friendly staff
