M&S Cafe in Cheltenham

Friendly staff, lovely food. My only issue was finding a seat. Lots of people coming in but seating was getting busy. If ordering and there were others coming in behind you then 1 or a couple of their party would head past to grab a table, which then made it difficult for a few of us on our own to find seating and having queued for a while seems unfair. Good food, plenty to please. Cake’s delicious. Little room though for a tray/plate while you try lifting the lid off the cake plate to put a cake on a plate. If items ran out ie teaspoon, the person serving would go get more, which held up the queue a bit .

Lovely staff. Some tables a tad close to each other. It gets very busy (which is good). Lovely drinks and food. Service can be slow and many people in the queue commented on this. The annoying thing was while myself and others were queuing for drinks/food (and had been queuing a while) other new queue joiners were pushing past us to get a table, and there weren’t many free, which meant those queuing infront couldn’t find a table . I do not think this is right and has happened many times before when I’ve been. Maybe a sign would be helpful on entry and exit as some use the exit to sneak in before others, to state no queue jumping or seating before purchase is made, to make it fair on the people already queuing. I was alone and it was difficult even to find a seat for myself due to this. I even had to ask the lady behind me to back up as she was so close to me in the queue, she stated that if she kept moving she hoped the queen would ! Patience is a virtue! Many of the tables had crockery still on them so am assuming short staff . When it’s busy it’s hard to get through with prams, trays etc . Let a lot a trolley to clear tables. Also the table for those in a wheelchair is very rarely used by them but by those who are able to move without the aid of sticks/wheelchair . Needs a bigger sign !

Went for lunch on Saturday. Ordered two cheese and mushroom toasties and chips. They are normally really nice. But on this occasion they were served on what I can only describe as some sort of garlick bread. It was hard and the garlick was very overpowering. The chips were OK. Very disorganised no cutlery brought to the table could not find a glass and the condiments were whisked away. On the plus side there was a lovely dark haired lady clearing tables who was very friendly and made conversation with us.

Ordered smashed avocado on toasted sourdough bread. What arrived was a slice of cheap white sliced bread which had been toasted on one side only - this also happened at Cribbs Causeway cafeteria. Terrible mis-advertising and at a cost of £5.00. Coffee was good but no saucers, so just uou just have to put your mucky spoon on the tray. M&S your standards have become v sloppy.

One of the worst scones I have had, rock hard, dry and crumbly. The coffee was OK. The staff were friendly. Don’t think I will go there again for coffee.

I have reviewed this cafe before. The two ladies serving in the coffee shop were working extremely hard BUT the queues were 12/14 deep . I observed 11 people give up and walk away , WHY don’t the managers actually look at what’s going on and get more staff. Maybe use some of those where they have reduced customer interface at check out payment desks with automated systems

Just wanted a cuppa and a cake but whole experience marred by an officious staff member who would be better suited as a sergent major. Ordered to go back as we dared to go over the invissible line to order our tea. She also spoke in the same rude manor to the lady behind us. I did point out to her she was speaking to us like naughty children. I do not expect or deserve to be spoken too by anybody particualy when I am spending money.She could do with a lesson in manners.

Reviewing again as my experiences have been more positive than many others on this site. Takeaways only and I didn't expect M&S to be open, (my local isn't and the stairs are blocked off), but fortunately it was. Quiet upstairs and I enjoyed a nice chat with the lady in charge. I was busy grabbing bits and pieces to go with our coffees when she told me about the offer on pastries and so instead of the one Danish, it was Danish and Croissants all round. They were a cut above too. Coffees and pastries on a bench, in the sunshine....result!

Out shopping in Cheltenham town centre and not having checked out Tripadvisor, decided to go safe with M&S and later on John Lewis. Feared the worst with a few in the queue but it was well organised. Waited for the drinks on the other side of the checkout and then sat down to wait for the food. Toasties came shortly afterwards. I had the Emmental and Mushroom, delicious. Experience compared favourably with John Lewis.

A pleasant cafe but with a very limited menu. Only hot food was "hot sandwiches." Adequate however for a quick stop on a shopping trip round the excellent Food store. My visit was spoilt by the rudeness and arrogance of the young man called Jake who was making the coffees. Patronisiing, entitled, and downright offensive to us. A waitress called Mina was very friendly and polite, which compensated for Jake's offensive attitude to customers.

I made a quick visit to the cafe before shopping at the store. Had a Latte. Sat by the window overlooking the High Street, pleasant and clean cafe. Plenty of staff there. Short but enjoyable visit.

We would recommend their Cumberland sausage buns if you are in need of a top up, the tea and coffee were excelent too. Everything very clean, you know you can trust M&S to get it right.

Regular inexcusable queuing whilst two of the staff chat .... absolutely no air of urgency when the situation demands. No such problem at John Lewis (50 metres away), M&S just "don't seem to get it".

Popped in browse etc and enjoyed a great coffee (try the new Brazilian blend) and cake - large restaurant with well spaced tables and nicely cool in the summer heat.

Nicely situated just off the High Street. Located on the first floor. Friendly staff. Tried the new Brazilian coffee which was spot on. Would recommend as good value for money as well. £6 for 3 drinks.

Fui a tomar café y almorzar un día. El café era encantador y el servicio fue rápido (tenían 4 personas sirviendo). El mismo día que fui a almorzar y el servicio fue muy lento, solo había dos personas detrás del mostrador y una les decía a los clientes que había una espera de 30 minutos para comida caliente.Las mesas se despejaron lentamente a la hora del almuerzo también. Así que no hagas el almuerzo si tienes prisa!

Shopping with grandson ask can we have a drink OK.. Nearest was M&S the cafe is up stairs and a walk though all sorts of clothes.. Had a milk and coffee, price's about same as any where.. All clean and tidy, did all we asked ..

Llamado aquí para tomar un aperitivo en una primera visita a Cheltenham. Con Marks y Spencer sabes lo que vas a obtener. Los sándwiches tostados y los sándwiches de tocino o salchicha son muy buenos y el café excelente. Probé el café peruano de especialidades esta vez y valió la pena el extra.El personal no podría ser más útil.

The food here was nice, a good choice of sandwiches and cakes.. the cakes where lovely, the service was very slow.. dont go if your in a rush

Have had cause in the past to critique this cafe with poor service and tables requiring clearing etc. However on this visit there was a huge improvement. Service was quick and efficient. Food- baked potatoes were great and came within 5 minutes of ordering, the waitress made sure we had everything we wanted. We observed the tables were cleared quickly. Well done. However the loos left a lot to be desired, diasabled loo not available - yet again, one cubicle in ladies out of action - yet again and one in the gents . Just what is the problem with sanitation in this establishment .

Went into M&S; Café mid-morning on Wednesday 24th October. Café moderately busy, but there was a long queue at the serving desk and only one till open. The staff seemed to be doing their best to cope but the service was painfully slow.

Good location, nice to have sunlight and views. Cake fine,coffee good

After several hours shopping and sight seeing it was a relief to sit and enjoy hot drinks and a well prepared tea cake. Service was above average with helpful assistants to us as strangers in Cheletenham

Seating is cramped for a start. How difficult is it to make scrambled egg on toast!!! Eggs were so dry they split on the plate. Three pieces of cool toast with crusts like cement. Awful! And extremely over-priced. On a positive girl on checkout was pleasant. Wouldn't return, far better places in town.

The food and drinks were up to the standard everyone expects from M&S.; The place was pleasant to be in. There were plenty of staff around, but they were not getting the tables cleared and there seemed to be an amount of chatting and doing jobs they liked going on. By the time we left, the tables near where we sat were still full of used crockery and some were like that when we arrived.

Poorly organised, sulky staff serve good coffee and wildly overpriced snacks. There are better places for coffee.

Called in for coffee and cheese scones. Flat whites were very good and the cheese scones up to M+ S high standards. Very friendly, helpful staff.

M&S;相較於其他超市總是選擇最為熱鬧的區域，最棒的是他們總是提供旅客最需要的─廁所！雖然每次進去的初始目的是為了廁所，但接著就會在裏頭消費，真是雙贏~

The service is good and friendly. The teas are just right and the sandwich selection is good. The seating is very comfortable. Well worth a visit.

Great place for a quick brew and a bite to eat. Fast service, friendly staff and not at all pricey. It's a busy place but i've always been able to get a table.

Visited this cafe for breakfast. The environment of the cafe is pleasant and well decorated, although the roof is relatively low.

We popped in here recently for afternoon tea and were pleased we did. The tea, coffee, sandwiches and gluten free cake were good. There was a good atmosphere and comfort.

Easy to find Cafe...situated within the M and S store... All the usual offerings from sandwiches to lite bites and coffee...

Called in today and requested a skinny latte .The young assistant ask the older one if they had any skimmed milk ,she informed her ,no !This was relayed to me ,surely there is plenty in the shop below?Just to lazy to get some.I won't be back.

Whilst shopping with my mum, popped in to M&S; for a cappuccino. Always nice coffee and the staff were nice. Would pop in there again.

I used to be a big fan of M&S; cafe revive but hardly go there these days now that there is so much more competition from coffee houses on the high street which tend to be more atmospheric. I go here if it's convenient .. Would like a more interesting menu - really bored with same tired old sandwich routine. Although I know some people like them, I strongly dislike the great big soup bowls of coffee and massive layer cakes - gross! No wonder we are all getting so fat. Perhaps M&S; could do more to promote healthier eating and drinking options?

We use this café quite often and it is always good quality and very relaxing. We enjoyed the sandwich selection and the fruit scone with fine tea. Well worth a visit.
