It would be one star but the staff were pleasant and the place is spotless so for that and that alone they get an extra star. Today I was served the worst Eggs Benedict I’ve ever eaten. The whole dish was drowning in thin and sickly hollandaise sauce. It was like two poached eggs with some kind of greasy soup poured over it. I left most of the sauce and it just looked like an oil slick covering the plate. The taste was sickly- way too buttery with a strange aftertaste of vinegar. I know M&S can make this dish to perfection because I’ve sampled it elsewhere but today all I can say I’m afraid is yuck!!!!

Waited over 20 mins for 1 toasted tea cake. How hard can that be to do quickly? Finished my coffee by the time they were ‘ just sorting it’ .. Had to leave so asked for my money back. The place wasn’t even half full so they weren’t that busy.

There was no system monitoring how many people was in the store I genially felt so unsafe I left without completing my shopping, it was absolulty rammed with no one following or attempting to follow social distancing because the store was so busy. Also totally not needed to have to walk through the clothing to get to food hall complete scam and more focused on the business then the safety of there customers. Will not be returning

So, going to bank to close your relatives account not always easy, so needed a decent coffee and good old M&S came to the rescue. Great coffee service a little slow as only one member of staff serving and making the coffee fresh, so no real complaints. Sandwiches were nice and just right for a little sustenance.

Decided to eat here one Saturday lunchtime. It was already getting busy when we arrived, however we were served quickly and only had a short wait before our order of jacket potatoes arrived. The food was hot and tasty and we really enjoyed our meal. I had the chilli filling in my baked potato, this was really nice but didn’t come close to my ultimate favourite Coronation Chicken ,which has been taken off the menu( please note M&S, and bring this firm favourite back)!

Called in for lunch whilst shopping only to find a very long queue of people waiting to order. After ten minutes I had reached no.3 in the queue when someone appeared form out of the back, took a section of the back of the queue ( i.e those who had yet to wait as long as I had) and led them to another order point from which she proceeded to serve them ahead of those who were still in the original queue.I left in disgust and won't be going back.

Helpful staff, pleasant surroundings but food very poor. In particular the Risotto with wild mushrooms and spinach. It was tasteless and no attempt made to present it well or garnish it. Just a heap of soggy rice. Embarrassing as friend was paying. Pie and chips reasonable. Lion of pork very tough stuffing. Talked up big but better food in market cafe at half the price

Not the place it used to be. Gone dirty and the gents toilet was disgusting as it looked like it hadn't been properly and hygienically bathroom cleaned for weeks. Service was slow and staff run off their feet because there wasn't enough of them. The once glorious soughdough bread has gone and there are no tea cakes (at Easter!!!). Such a shame as I used to enjoy going here....but not anymore. For the prices you pay, it is poor value for money. The owners have run the place down and should be ashamed. It used to be great
