Stopped here on Saturday for a well deserved cream tea after the long walk along the cliffs. Long queue but went quite quickly. Staff were lovely & friendly. Reasonable prices. Cream tea was delicious & loved having the tea out the teapot & proper cup & saucer. We sat in the grounds of the lighthouse but theres lot of seating all around the lighthouse. Definitely set us up for the long walk back haha.

We stopped here in our white cliffs walk to St Margaret's Bay. A lovely 1940s style tea room that offers shelter from the elements. We had dogs with us and were able to bring them across to the hut where we enjoyed our tea and cake whilst waiting for the rain to pass. A lovely setting, very friendly staff. Highly recommend a visit.

Excellent cake, scones and tea in a classic 1940’s environment. You can sit inside or take your tray into the open space with picnic seats by the lighthouse. A pity the tea room doesn’t serve sandwiches as well

My wife and I stopped here after doing the Fan Bay Deep Shelter tour, which we’d recommend. The tea room had a nice atmosphere and staff were friendly. We both had a cream tea which was good. The scones were tasty enough with a good choice of jam. Definitely recommend a stop here if doing the walk from the National Trust visitor centre, it’s worth the extra distance for the views and the cream tea.

Really cute tea room but disappointing food. Both the cheese and the fruit scones were dry and tasteless, the chocolate cake over processed and sickly. The tea was good but £4.75 for a hot chocolate made with instant powder and hot water felt like a complete rip off! Pleasant enough staff but not particularly forthcoming, tables left dirty etc. Highly recommend the lighthouse tour but I’d pass on popping in for anything more than a cuppa!

A really lovely setting. After a windy walk it was lovely to reach mrs Knotts. We had to sit outside as we had our dog with us. Which is shame because the inside looked lovely. The staff were friendly and helpful. We had a scone and coffee. Which was lovely. We did want a sandwich too but they are already made, and we had a fussy eater with us. Which was a shame. Would recommend, but would like to see somewhere to sit inside with a dog.

We were almost out off by the latest review but our experience couldn’t have been more different- delicious scone, jam, cream and a pot of freshly made loose-leaf tea in cosy, vintage surroundings with delightful photographs of the ancestors of current volunteers. Clean environment and charming staff - just as it was when we last visited many years ago! We didn’t have sandwiches or soup but both looked lovely.

Pre covid I used to visit often, two lovely big scones and all the trimmings. Went in May and was a little miffed, price increase, but now only one small scone and not of previous quality. Last visit which was queens jubilee I took a picnic didn’t go into cafe at all. I think retailers, restaurants tea rooms etc need to understand that if they can’t reduce quality and quantity as is a downward spiral. Maintain quality and offer a decent sized scone for the money, don’t offer one puny below average size and quality because the people who regularly frequent will soon not bother.

Charming tea rooms at the foot of the lighthouse with a choice of tables inside or out, where there is a fabulous view across the Channel to France. There are picnic tables and a few deck chairs to relax in on a fine day. The music inside is nostalgic, wartime music; the cups and teapots are pretty, old china; and there is a decent selection of sandwiches and cakes. Good pot of tea and a willing top up of hot water. Nice service. Highly recommended.

Stopped here for refreshment on Saturday July 16 around 2 p.m., the 2 young men working at the counter that afternoon were welcoming and friendly. Mrs Knotts Tea-Room has a quaint and charming ambience. The tea room is VERY CLEAN and quiet but they do permit you to take your order out to eat at picnic tables on the grounds if you please. The Earl Grey tea is my go-to tea and despite it being a hot day the tea was delightfully refreshing. The variety of sweets were well rounded and my small party of 3 found just the right combination of beverage and snack and all were delicious!

Vastly over priced snobbery. Sandwichs are bland and stale, drinks are snobby 'can't have normal soft drinks as they are not in keeping, you can get them across the way though' £2.40 for a HOT can of drink from the fridge No ice Drinks warm Food stale Service slow Considering this along a walking path it lacks the basics and accessibility to the 'normal' folk

It’s a welcome relief to see the Lighthouse after walking for so long. We went inside Mrs Knotts Tea Room to ordered Cream Tea. It came to £11 for two people. The scones, jam and the cream were nice. Shame about the tea, It was weak. The people behind the till could have been more friendly, they just plonked the cups and saucers and the cutleries carelessly on the tray. We sat inside in one of their old fashion room. The floor could do with a sweep, crumbs were everywhere.

Not what we expected after the hour walk along the cliffs. Limited selection, prepackaged sandwiches, very limited indoor seating (on a windy and cold day!), lack of bins outside meant people’s rubbish was flying away. Outdoor toilets only. Whole lighthouse covered in scaffolding when we arrived, which can’t be helped but we wouldn’t have made the walk if we’d known. Scones and tea were nice, but the rest of the experience detracted from that. Take in the views at the other end of the cliffs, then get lunch someplace else. This is a clear tourist trap.

This is a lovely spot to stop when the weather is good, there are plenty of picnic tables and deck chairs to sit at with great views of the channel and France on a clear day. We had a pot of tea for two and a cheese scone each, which came to £8, tea and scones were very good. This place is really popular with foreign tourists as it is very close to the port. We sat outside, the inside which was very busy is decorated in classic old English tea Room style. The tea room is on the site of the South Foreland Lighthouse which you can also pay to go inside, the light house is usually a great photo opportunity, but cuttingly (29/09/18) is covered in scaffolding. My daughter and I were walking along the White Cliffs on a lovely summer day, and had packed food and drink, but when we got to the lighthouse at the tip of the cliffs we were both hungry and thirsty. We went in to the tea room and got ourselves a cream tea each with the most enormous scones you've ever seen! Given their monopoly position I thought that the prices were actually quite reasonable. You can choose to eat outside or you can, like we did, go in to one of the old fashioned rooms to get out of the sun. The whole atmosphere is a very genteel throwback to the days gone by when the male clientele would have been wearing trilbies rather than baseball caps. There is 1940s music on in the background, unobtrusively so for those people who don't like that style of music. If this tea shop were in Dover itself I wouldn't have given it another glance, but as a reward at the halfway point of the cliff walk it really can't be beaten.

On my visit the café far outstripped the lighthouse in business, but there is no charge to call in after a walk along the cliff tops from Dover. Various north Europeans were signing the visitors book and handling trays heavily laden with pots of tea and cakes, I settled for an affordable flakey sausage roll, cheese scone with butter and an apple juice. There is soup and sandwiches are listed although not observed. Less upmarket Sprite and coke is obtainable from the reception hut. Customers can sit outside, and this visit was just as full week opening begins in the school holidays for the lighthouse. The tea room has a life of its own and the nicest toilets. You cannot drive right up to this site and the walk from St Margaret's bus stop is 25 minutes. There is a café there too (Shellys) to revive those who miss the hourly bus. Your mobile may roam to France but I understand the EU have evened out the charges, as tradesmen suddenly found their bills soared! It may be that this café is where many from abroad first here Vera Lynn singing.

What a little gem - but be prepared for the walk along the cliffs to enjoy its delights. A truly old-fashioned tea rooms, with leaf tea in china teapots, china cups and homemade cakes. The cafe is furnished with memorabilia. The staff were really friendly and helpful. No problem getting hot water to top up the pot or extra milk. A haven for real tea drinkers.

Fresh home made cakes and pastries and a superb cup of proper leaf tea with a tea strainer. It really is worth the walk to the lighthouse for a lunch here and if you sit outside the view is simply spectacular.

Seems beautiful from the outside, but it's very much a hostel in a cramped old building. It does the job, as the beds were good, but the shared bathroom was not a good experience. Pretty sure the person that checked us in was drunk/high af.

A nice, cheap hotel just as expected. Great location. Room was clean and tidy. I was in a room with shared bathroom which are pretty tired. Nice breakfast. Nice staff
