Mr Eddy's Tea Rooms in New Forest

We have had a lovely picnic while some had teas and cold drinks which were served very quickly. They had many tray bakes to offer. And a large variety of food for anyone. Including dog ice cream , would come again

What a find, the restaurant has a great choice of food, the best chicken pie I've tasted, wonderful home made cakes & a lovely team of staff. Went for a birthday lunch with my husband and loved it so much have been back again with friends.

We had a lovely day out at Exbury and stopped for lunch at Mr Eddys. Greeted by Alan who provided friendly and efficient service . Lovely lunch in a beautiful setting.

Service was nice and quick. Food was lovely, we both had jacket potatoes which were cooked to perfection. All staff were really friendly.

Painfully slow service and 75p to switch to milk substitute, which is a rip-off when businesses should be trying to refuce carbon footprints . Very dissapointing. The coffee was good, but what a wait!

Group of us decided after dog class at Exbury to go for coffee, cake or lunch. The coffee is great. The cakes fresh and look home baked? We all chose fruit scones. The lunch time meals are perfect for quick meal. The cafe is canteen style. We do always sit outside rain or shine now as umbrella makes that possible. Quiche was very good. Jacket potatoes with various fillings fab. All food looks worth trying. We intend to return soon. As Correct amount as possible they do take cash again.

The food and especially the coffee at Mr Eddy’s is really nice but the service is painfully slow and the queues are often quite long for no good reason. It is nice that the coffee is made by hand rather than the click of a button and the breakfast rolls are really good but they need to be managed so that customer orders are taken and processed more quickly. The outside Pizza Hut and ice cream hut are really good but opening times are a bit random

Painfully slow service today at Mr Eddy’s with facilities under staffed. Huge queue of people waiting to be served and after waiting 20 minutes to be served it took 20 minutes to get two bacon baps. Similar experience at the ice cream shack later in the day when one server was overwhelmed! Sunny bank holiday Saturday in May is always going to be busy surely? That said the bacon bap when it arrived was delicious!

There was a good atmosphere at the restaurant. The Staff were excellent and friendly, and my Sunday Roast of Chicken etc was absolutely delicious. The coffee was really good too😀. Definitely want to go back sometime.

We had a delightful time at Exbury, taking a leisurely stroll through the picturesque gardens. The highlight of our visit, however, was the delectable lunch and the scrumptious coffee and cakes we enjoyed at the charming Old Smithy Tearooms. The establishment was spotlessly clean, and the staff were exceptionally helpful. The young lady who served us our lunch even graciously carried it to our table. Impressed by the impeccable service and the mouthwatering cuisine, we have decided to obtain a membership to the gardens, which will allow us to regularly indulge in their delightful lunches.

Lovely food. Good social distancing. Very safe feeling. Plenty of tables and chairs. Friendly staff.

Absolutely terrible experience here - an utter disgrace. Firstly the hand gel provided seems to have been watered down (like the rest of Exbury Gardens provisions). No indoor seating although plenty of room - they force people to use the bench seats outside (which are not being cleaned). A clear example of "not our problem". Staff behind the counter (no partition) were not wearing face masks which is a legal requirement. Food - well the selection at 12.45 on a Wednesday was:Mexican Bean SandwichCornish PastySausage RollA few bags of crisps...that was it!To put the pricing into context £1.90 for a can of Cola. Not a big can, a 330ml one. That is the same prices as a 2L bottle in the supermarket.Don't bother with this place at all.

Enjoyable lunch, with great food and service. Good covid safety measures throughout. Tables nicely spread apart.

There was a menu outside the restaurant with nothing to say when they stopped serving food. Queued for quite a while as only one member of staff serving and very slow. Eventually got to the front of the queue to be told they weren't serving hot food. I appreciate it was gone 3pm but would have been helpful if they had a sign saying rather than waste our time.

We visited post-lockdown. Decent measures in place - hand sanitiser at the entrance, distancing measures, outdoor seating encouraged. We visited mid-lunch time (12.50pm) and they had basically ran out of food - there were some very odd sounding vegetarian pasties (the only hot food available), a couple of mexican bean and avocado sandwiches, chicken and lentil salad and slightly odd fancy cold sausage rolls, but that was it for savoury food. So we bought crisps and cake (had to eat something). The cake was very good - if I had been coming for tea and cake later in the day, I might well have given a better review (but saying that, I suspect that it will have also run out by teatime!).A real shame. Hopefully it's just covid-19 issues...

Cake was good: pre-packed for covid, but pricey. Decent range of items available. Pleasant-enough. Available from the car park so open to people not visiting the Gardens

Popped in with a few friends but the service was slow and the prices a bit on the steep side. Only one person serving food and drinks. Not the chaps fault as cafe was small but could have been dealt with better to save waiting in the queue for well over 30 minutes. Cakes weren’t that great either.

Where do I start. Terrible layout, not easy access for pushchairs. Waited approx 30 minutes to order food and hot drinks however by the time we paid (you pick your food and then go to another counter to pay) the food and drinks were lukewarm and cold by the time we all ate. Paid £12.95 for a very small pie and chips, value for money is appalling! Overall we paid £52.60 for 3 adults to have a small bite to eat and 3 hot drinks. This was the first time visit Exbury Gardens, we will return however will be bringing our own food next time! Avoid at all costs!

Nice breakfast and great selection of cakes, as a tea room should be. Plenty of tables, dogs allowed in certain areas.

Pleasant enough, a bit slow but some staff had called in sick. Seems very popular. Loads of plates full of Sunday lunch being sent out by the kitchen. Looked good. Good quality tea and excellent fruit scones

Whilst visiting Exbury it is the perfect place to stop, enjoy refreshments whilst recharging your batteries for more walking and exploring. Gets quite busy but worth it.

We only ordered 2 teas today so we could check the place out for potential future visits. 2 teas were £4.50 and consisted of one normal sized pot of tea to share and a jug of milk. Most places will give you a pot of hot water when the teapot is shared, but not so here. Not a big problem but it would have been nice to have extra water included in the price, like most other places provide. We took the teas outside to enjoy in the sunshine, and here lies my real bug bear. For a place that charges decent money for their food and drink it would be nice if their outside tables weren't half falling apart! It has kind of funny the way our table actually seemed to shimmy at the slightest touch, yes shimmy, if it were set to music it would be an overnight internet sensation! Touching one side seemed to set off a mexican wave across all the joints in the table. You couldn't lean on the table at all, and we had to put our drinks in the middle of the table to stop the cups getting sea sick. On a serious note however, this could become dangerous as it's only a matter of time before someone gets a scalding hot drink (sorry, i meant to say a scalding tepid drink) all over them as the table finally collapses. It's things like this, that to me, shows a lack of respect towards their customers. Happy to take your money but if you go outside they don't care that you have a safe unrotten table for you to sit at. I won't bother going back.

Stopped in before we entered the gardens. Pasha and Beluga had a portion of doggie ice creams. We had a good bowl of food, and I was most impressed by a traditional ploughman’s lunch. Clean and tidy inside and out. The Sunday lunch looked immense.

We used the tea rooms in the old tennis courts, which is tucked away in the gardens. It was a lovely little hideaway.

Quite reasonable quality but not a lot of choice although some alternatives for the children’s meals. The hot meal we had was good. Not the cheapest.

We visted the gardens earlier this month with our dog.We decided we'd have sunday lunch here as it smelt so nice. What a great decision we made,we had the mixed meat roast and it was to die for,the best roast dinner ive had in a long time. The meat was succulent,gravy delicious,roasties and parsnips superb,good selection of veg including cauliflower cheese.The service was quick and very friendly.Our dog was made a huge fuss of and brought a bowl of water,we were allowed to sit in the restaurant as it was hot outside.Cant recommend this place highly enough,much better than most roasts weve eaten out.

Clean and cool.Good selection of cakes but although the Victoria Sponge tasted lovely it was rather heavy and dry.

After a tour of the beautiful Gardens we stopped at Eddys and had a delicious Sunday roast. Huge portions & then had yummy scones.

Ordinary coffee/tea rooms. We sat outside as it was nice weather. Limited food choice but it’s only a cafe.

Visited at the beginning of our trip to the Gardens to buy water and the one member of staff running the coffee machine ,taking orders and running the till was very good but run off his feet. Thought we’d pop back later after the visit for something to eat. Got back at three and all that was left were the crumbs with the kitchens closed. Why stay open till four if you can’t offer the food you advertise, just shut at three. The same member of staff was still the only guy working front office and he did a couple of teas for us. I’ll take a packed lunch the next time.

Visiting Exbury gardens we stopped for a coffee beforehand. Lovely coffee and open before the gardens if you’re early.

Quirky cafe, lay out a bit odd, we weren’t sure whereabouts to go to order or get food, no toilets in building had to go back outside by the main entrance, food quite basic but reasonable.

After a lovely walk of Exbury gardens we enjoyed cake, scone and tea at Mr Eddys. A lovely end to a super day.

Standard prices for a visitor centre tea rooms, but has a great range of food. I had the homemade quiche and salad for lunch which was delicious, husband had a sandwich.

Me and my wife came here after our visit walking around Exbury Gardens.

Didn’t enjoy the gardens but loved this little gem!! The cakes were beautiful and the coffee was great. Although we didn’t eat anything else from the menu it looked divine! I’ll definitely be visiting here again!

We visited Mr Eddy's Tea Rooms during a visit to the beautiful Exbury Gardens. Breakfast finishes at 11.00, fair enough. Lunch begins at 12.00, we sat down at 11.30, poor timing on our part, so we had a coffee whilst we waited until lunch time. The self service area does not flow naturally along the food areas to the till, very poor layout. At 5 minutes to 12 we tried to place our lunch order from the very limited and pretentious menu, we were refused at the till and told to come back at 12.00, which we did as we are obedient customers. Of course there was absolute chaos at the till then as everyone who had waited descended on the till at the same time. How mad was that. Next time we visit the Gardens we will take our own food and just purchase a coffee, which was very nice and reasonably priced.

Big queue just to get a drink on a hot day. Toilets are another walk, so make sure you finish your drink first.

My wife and I returned to Exbury Gardens last weekend and thoroughly enjoyed our walk in the gardens and our snack meal afterwards. My wife had the toasted sourdough bread with smashed avocado, poached egg and extra side order of smoked salmon which for £7.50 we felt was excellent value compared to other venues. I had two home made fruit scones and butter washed down with a pot of tea for two - delicious and we were then very refreshed to walk around the second half of the grounds. We stopped in the Sundial Gardens and had a Jude Ice Cream each which were excellent - salted caramel and strawberry flavours. There are lots of tables and chairs in the Sundial Gardens with a choice of ones in the shade or out in the sun; it is a real sun trap of a gardens and a great place to relax and recharge the batteries for the rest of your walk. One point to mention is that the small snack bar in the Sundial Gardens closes around 4pm so make sure you visit earlier to avoid disappointment. Mr Eddy's Tea Rooms can be accessed without having to pay to enter Exbury Gardens and although the layout is a little strange inside, we had no problems with queues during our visit and there are plenty of tables and chairs inside and out. Highly recommended.

If you want a good selection of sandwiches, rolls, salads, fruit this didn't work for us. Good coffee and pleasant people but not imaginative

Visited during our time at the beautiful Exbury Gardens. Small cafe with outside tables and seating. Small but adequate menu served with a smile by friendly staff. Well worth a visit after a long walk around the gardens.

We love Exbury gardens, love them. And as wheelchair users the park has got most things dead right.... except Mr Eddy’s,!,!

Stopped in here before heading out into the gardens. Nice cup of Cappachino and a fruit scone - bit pricey but isn't everywhere these days.

Mr Eddy’s Tea Rooms at Exbury Gardens is a delightful place for a snack, or even a full meal.

Having enjoyed a beautiful morning strolling through the gardens we broke off at mid day for some lunch in Mr Eddy's Tea Rooms.

Visited yesterday for lunch.. A tiny ploughman’s, small piece of cheese, 4 grapes and a quarter of an apple £8.50 . A cheese and ham toastie with nothing else .. £5.95. This is daylight robbery! They have a captive audience that they exploit which is disgraceful and reflected by the reviews on Trip Advisor ( majority average- terrible) I wish I’d read them before we went.

We had heard that the gardens had opened this weekend again and the sun shine was out so we thought we would try the restaurant for lunch and I am so glad we did. It was a perfect lunch on a perfect afternoon... lunch served 12:00 to 14:30 so we will be back

Stopped here for some cake and a coffee to escape the rain and was not disappointed. A brilliant selection of cakes, all of which were well received by our party! Would definitely return.

Our first visit was disappointing as the food , both hot and sandwiches, we felt were overpriced. We did buy two sandwiches as we were hungry but they cost us just under £10 !!!! Not happy.

Overcharge for mediocre food! £1.80 for a tin of drink, £4.50 for a sandwich (No extras, just two pieces of bread with filling!) and £10.50 for toad in the hole. They really are taking the ‘P’!

Service to get hot drinks was painfully slow. Limited sandwiches for £3.95. Although the tuna one tasted ok. Several cake choices,but these were uncovered and where everyone walked past.

We had lunch here. The lentil soup was awful, never had such awful soup. And it wasn't particularly cheap. Will avoid in future.

Came on a quiet September day and was hoping for a warm meal but not much on offer - I can understand this though as it was quiet. Had sandwich, crisps and a cake instead - and it was lovely although a bit on the expensive side for what it was. Staff were helpful and gave me boiling water for baby's bottle, so thanks!

You can visit the cafe without visiting Exbury gardens. The coffee is fine, although more expensive than central London. The cakes are very good. The lunch food is limited.

After much walking around the beautiful Exbury Gardens, enjoy a drink and something to eat in this very clean, well appointed Tea Room. From crisis to a hot meal are available plus a wide range of drinks

The homemade sandwiches are fine though there is no option to have them toasted despite the restaurant having had a refit! That aside it is much improved with a better layout.

We only had a light snack. Good choice of sandwiches. Lovely cup of tea and proper coffee. Plenty of places to sit outside. Dogs not allied inside, but water bowls provided

As it name says this is primarily a tea room though they do light lunches. Don't expect anything fancy but enough to keep you going.

The building has been refurbed and extended by removing the gift shop.

This is an ideal place to finish your visit with a cup of tea plenty of seating and good choice of cakes etc

Would not necessarily recommend for a meal but fine for a refreshing drink. Modern and comfortable but quite pricy.

After having a nice walk around Exbury gardens we were disappointed with the restaurant on site- Mr Eddy's tea rooms. We wanted a light lunch and the choice of sandwiches was either cheese or tuna. I chose cheese but the bread and cheese was at least a couple of days old. Wife had soup which wasn't very hot and no wholemeal bread as advertised. This on a busy Sunday in June. Had to attract attention to get served the soup as no one around. Expensive for what we had. Didn't try the cakes which did look nice and there were gluten free cakes as well.

We arrived at 10.00am, being the opening time for the Gardens. Unfortunately, the Tea Room wasn't open and we had to wait outside until the doors were opened, about 5 minutes late. We couldn't see the opening times displayed anywhere The coffee and cakes were very enjoyable, although rather overpriced in our opinion..

Although not a huge choice the food was delicious, using local produce. Very clean and good service.

We loved the setting, the staff and the coffee and cakes. All fresh and well served by charming staff who could not have been more helpful.

They make a good cup of tea!. Nice food, fast service, clean and reasonably priced. A very nice on-site cafe.

My friend and I visited Exbury Gardens yesterday and on arrival at 10.45am decided on a cup of tea and a bite to eat before we set off. There was no hot food on offer so we opted for a pot of tea and scones with jam and cream, the scones looked lovely and there was a huge pile of them - unfortunately they tasted like they had been sitting there for a week! They were so stale they just broke into crumbs. The queue was out of the door and there was no one to approach as the staff were all busy so we just drank our tea and left. I will say that the cafe was very clean and tidy, just a shame about the scones and with a price of over £12.00 for a pot of tea and 2 scones not at all acceptable.

Very disappointed, very poor selection of food on offer, only 2 varieties of sandwiches and these were stale. Despite the advert above the ice cream cabinet, there was only vanilla ice cream available

Very busy, but soon got served, lovely cheese scones, and plenty of seats indoors and outdoors. Very clean .

We went into Mr Eddy's to have a simple lunch. Three sandwiches and a cup of tea. The bill came to £16.05. The sandwiches each cost £3.95 and were about the worst we had ever tasted. I use the word 'tasted' which insinuates that they had some taste. They did not. Made with bread that wasn't very soft, crusts that were so tough, we had to remove them and non-existent filling. What a shocker!

I fail to understand why that at opening this place has no food to serve, staff that can't use the coffee machine. Complete ineptitude.

Firstly, the staff were very helpful and provided a good service. It was the food that was beyond belief. It was disgusting and equally disgusting were the prices. TAKE YOUR WON FOOD AND WATER...

We finished off our tour of the gardens with refreshments at Mr Eddy's - all the food was freshly made and was excellent quality. The queue was long but soon processed. Highly recommended.

Lack of choice, very little food variety, expensive, no white sugar available on day of visit staff not interested I was told that I would have to make do with brown or sweeter.

This place was very busy when we had finished our gardens visit, packed with people who had obviously come to eat Sunday lunch from the extensive buffet.

The cakes looked delicious, but we only really wanted a sandwich or something before heading off around the gardens. We were too early for any hot food which is served from noon, but there are sandwiches, which were lovely, but there didn't seem to be much of a range on offer.. perhaps I missed a bit, or again was too early.. but what we had was lovely and the staff are great. (I would have liked a salad) There is indoor and outdoor seating, ideal as we had the dog with us.

My wife and I had a very enjoyable visit to Exbury Gardens which was greatly enhanced by a visit to Mr Eddy's Tea Rooms located just outside the entrance. You can therefore visit these splendid tea rooms and buy some plants & shrubs from the garden centre without having to pay an entrance fee to the gardens.

A nice place at the entrance to Exbury gardens. Sells cakes, refreshments and quick snacks but enough to get over the hunger pangs. A nice clean place but shame the toilets are a hundred metres away.

Popped in for tea and cake before visiting the gardens. The tea was in a proper china teapot, which had been filled to the brim, what a refreshing change from a half filled stainless steel abomination.

We only had their soup of the day. Their many pastries and sweet bakery looked very tempting.nice place for an afternoon atea fter a visit to the gardens. Pleasant service

The cafe sells home made hot food and cakes and when we visited it was not busy. The cafe can be visited without paying to enter the gardens.

Over priced, tiny portions, too arty-farty and luke warm. Take a leaf out of Hillier's Gardens' book. The cafe is so much nicer there!

Exbury gardens have just re opened after the winter close down and we revisited and collected our renewed annual passes.

Called into Mr Eddys today after going round the gardens with the dogs. It has new owners and will not be going back there. They have a new coffee machine and thr people making the coffee are really slow. The cakes, scones etc are out on display and not covered so all and sundry can cough or breathe over them and they do not have glasses any ,more for,the cold drinks only plastic ones. The counter is still in the middle of the room so if there is a queue you have to stand and hold your tray as there is only room for one by the till. All in all not happy

We stopped here for a light lunch just before visiting Exbury garden. It has been recently refurbished and it looks very good. It is clean, light, warm and airy.

The best cake ever and they even have a delicious vegan cake if you ask. We had lunch then came back after a wander for cake. Lunch was also good with sandwiches and various hot options. Came with our ten month old baby and found facilities good with high chairs and microwave for warming food. Staff very helpful and friendly. Highly recommend. Definitely would go back again.

Waddesdon Manor offers superlative service, and the owners of Exbury could learn from their Rothschild cousins. Our lunch was adequate, but not commensurate with the quality of the gardens.

Given the reputation of Exbury Gardens this place is such a let down. Had run out of cheese scones at lunchtime, tables not cleared quickly, no teaspoons to be found. Almost feels like a works canteen and given where they are could be so much better. Pity, please sort it out.

Dropped in whilst driving past after a walk nearby. Husband and I had a simple jacket potato - one with beans and cheese and the other tuna with mayo. Both the smallest potatoes we have eaten at a cafe and filling really scrimped on. Supposed to be served with salad - I would not call a few lettuce leaves a salad - where was the tomato, cucumber at least? In contrast, week before we ate at The Old Bakehouse Tea Rooms at Beaulieu, what an amazing place, huge potatoes, large fillings, cheaper and great service. Needless to say when next in that area we will be returning to the Old Bakehouse

This is just outside the entrance to Exbury Gardens and is a lovely Tea Room/Gift Shop. The staff were lovely and we had some delicious sweet potato, chilli and cocnut soup with crusty bread - it was absolutely delicious, very reasonably priced and most welcome on a chilli October afternoon! (If you've paid your entrance to Exbury Gardens, do be sure to retain your receipt so you can regain access if necessary).

Although the ambience, staff and general presentation of the place are nice, I would never eat here again based on the meal we had last weekend. The leek and cauliflower gratin was tasteless, and the vegetables (obviously frozen) were poorly cooked and no pleasure at all to eat. My mother had a cheese baguette which seemed to be an uncooked part-baked one with completely tasteless (processed?) cheese inside. It all smacks of the cheapest possible food prepared without any care or skill. Such a disappointment, especially as on Exbury's website there is a quote praising the food. I can't understand anyone being satisfied with this standard of food. Visit the lovely gardens by all means, but don't have lunch there!

This place may be better in the summer months but at this time of year the selection is not good. The place all seems a big jumble with gifts and tables mixed up.
