Beautiful fish and chips. Lovely clean environment. Polite and friendly staff. All freshly cooked to order. Golden batter. A real treat

On Friday 5th January 2024. I was blown away by the quality of the Cod. I was even more impressed to see Mr Chippy removes the skin from all the Cod....this hardly ever happens, anywhere. And...the 3 adults working today were absolutely awesome listeners! I can not speak highly enough about this business.

Best fish and chips shop that I've been too, 1000x better than Harry Ramsden. My favourite takeaway. Do keep an eye on opening times and days.

I popped in here 2 weeks ago to get a treat for my dad and myself. I managed to park within 15 metres for free on the street. I ordered 2 medium chips and a portion of scampi. I like my chips properly cooked not half cooked and he said not a problem. I chatted to the owner who was very friendly, polite and interesting. He has been here for over 30 years. The service was spot on, the prices very good and the food tasted excellent. Really enjoyed it and will definitely visit again.

I bought cod and chips here and was shocked at the high amount charged. I appreciate times are hard for businesses, but this business needs to understand that it's customers will only pay so much. Its not only just about taking maximum profits. Given how the prices have been increased, I will not be giving my money to this business again, as there are better fish n chip shops in the area imho.

Fish and chips a British staple but is it now getting beyond the reach of the average family as a regular event? Well the price at this chippy is locally average so is the food any good? In short YES. We went on a wet Thursday early evening and a steady stream of customers followed me and phone orders were being taken, so if demand is anything to go by it's very popular here. No medium cod available so we had 2 large cod and medium chips with each, cost £20.40 so it's not cheap. Quality - skinless, boneless cod fillet of a good thickness with a thin light batter freshly cooked to order. Chips were not greasy and with the right balance of Crisp and softly yielding beauties. Quantity - To be honest the two meals we had would have fed two adults and two children at push! Conclusion - Very good chippy. Looked like a father and son setup behind the counter when we went, excellent service cheerful and helpful. P.S. pen in picture is for scale not "extra" and there were more chips under the fish!

Fantastic cod and chips, highly recommended.

I have frequented Mr Chippy for a number of years and have found the food to be good and the staff very efficient and pleasant. However last time I visited, there was no queue and I placed my order. There were many people arriving to pick up their orders and after 15min waiting, I lost patience and asked if they had started cooling my food. they hadn't and weren't doing to for another 10 min. They could have told me there was a 30 min wait. Today I tried again. They were happy to take my order and upon asking, was informed that there would have been a 30min wait. I left and went to Sam's chippy at the end of the high street. No wait, just as good, and will not bother next time.

First time using this place and totally blown away. Service was excellent and the product absolutely superb. Cannot wait to go again!

Best in Hayward Heath in my humble opinion and experience. Believe me I have had plenty of fish and chips in my life time. I can't fault them, friendly, batter still crispy and not oily by the time you get home, chip portion not skinny. This is mine and my son treat. Only thing, can sometimes be hard to get parking as in the strip of restaurant.

Frozen yellow fish batter on cod with big fat semi cooked chips at £9 ... 100% frozen cooked at a premium high price. Previous delicious golden batter with flaky fish. Wont be going back !!!

Absolutely amazing fish and chips. But don't take my word for it. When my son was in Cubs they spent an evening on a Chip shop 'crawl', and they all voted Mr Chippy as the best in Haywards Heath

This has been my go to Fish & Chip place for years. We have a 25 mins drive to get there but always worth it. However since the last year things have somehow gone down hill. The chips are some soggy some hard. Fish has a soggy batter, limp just seems cooked with no love! Tonight the cod tasted very fishy and we ended up throwing it in the bin. Very disappointed!

The fish is delicately cooked in a tasty batter, the chips crispy and delicious, the side items are spot on and the rest of the menu scrummie. Add to this a family that are charming and the whole place beats all other Fish And Chip establishments in Haywards Heath hands down. Give it a try and a return visit will have to be done. Yum......

Great set up during this period of social distancing making it very safe to pick up your order. The fish and Chips were great and the kids had chicken nuggets that were cooked to perfection. Even the wife was happy as she had fish without the batter (Not sure why you would want this, but she said it was lovely!) This place is well worth a visit.

We’ve tried all the local chip shops since moving to Haywards Heath. Mr Chippy is by far the best, everything is freshly cooked to order, neither the chips or fish are greasy and portion sizes are v generous.

My usual fish and chip shop in Haywards Heath has now closed down so I decided to give this a try. Now been here twice and both times the fish and chips has been very good. Will definitely make this my go to place for fish and chips in future.

Great local family run fish and chip shop on the Broadway in Haywards Heath. Quality food, friendly customer service and affordable. Now taking card payments on orders over £10 which makes this even more convenient and perfect for a quick and easy family treat.

We've had several take-aways from here now and have never been disappointed. The staff are very friendly, the the fish tasty and fresh and the chips delicious without an ounce of grease! A little tip though - you have to pay cash, but that's not a problem in my opinion.

We have ordered food from here before and it’s always been fresh very tasty. The service is great and the staff are professional and happy thank you 😁, we would recommend and also be ordering from here again.

Food is freshly cooked in front of you, not kept in the cabinet for long periods.Fish is excellent and the so are the chips (not too greasy).Nice staff.My only gripe is I wish they would accept card, almost no reason to these days except for a bit of the old under reporting.

well after a truly traumatic experience at the lockheart taven, this drop of paradise recovered our evening from one of the utmost trauma to one of bliss.

Excellent chippy - great chips as they should be and delicious fresh-tasting fish. I don't usually write reviews but my parents owned chippies and this place was unexpectedly the best I've had since I was young from our pen shops. The fish is taken from the fridge/freezer when you order and cooked right then, five minutes later it's ready. The fryer, no idea if he was the owner was very upbeat, cheerful and very helpful. Super place, no pun intended! :)))

Called in after feeding a friends cats. Freshly cooked cod and chips very hot and tasty but the most expensive ones I have ever had. No wooden free forks so it was a case of fingers.

Really really nice Chips there. Huge portions that I had to throw them away. The thing is though it’s so expensive. When I bought this up to the owner he was very arrogant and arguementative. When I told him where I could get fish and chips as a meal deal cheaper he accused me of lying to get the price down. For this I haven’t been back there. I would rather stick to kingfish or lees. Or if you want a friendly conversation while you wait for your food go next door to Ephesus

You know you’ve found the local secret when the front counter is barely big enough to fit all the people trying to put their orders in and people waiting to collect! I had the haddock which was just the right size, not greasy and had a lovely flavour. Good portion sizes with the chips, the medium is very generous! And they taste like proper chip shop chips! You can get curry sauce and mushy peas which I’ve found at some of the other venues in Haywards Heath is something of a foreign language? Plus they do curry spring rolls, battered sausages and saveloys. The prices are reasonable and the service comes with a smile! This is now our local chippy, we’ve tried the rest, this is the best!

What a super place. We’re new to the area so followed the advice of other reviewers. This is a tiny take away and everyone squeezes in or waits patiently outside. You are greeted like an old friend and every order is cooked fresh while you wait. Delicious food. Will be back very soon.

Best chippy around. I have been coming to this chippy since i was tiny, always a joy to hear you are having a "Mr Chippy" dinner. Chips are absolutely delicious and the service is very friendly. Have watched Liam and his family grow with the shop. If you live in the the area and haven't had a Mr Chippy then you really haven't lived. Even when they are super busy they always have time to say hello and give you a smile. Keep up.the great work.

Lovely place in Haywards Heath town centre. Run by a friendly family, the food I had was nicely cooked, non-greasy and tasted very fresh.

The chips are really yummy but the chap who works here doesn't know anything about customer service.

We go to Mr chippy about once a month because his batter is always nice golden and crispy and a fair size cod with nicely cooked chips down side is trying to find somewhere to park on a Friday night.

A simple order of haddock and chips superbly cooked. Fish cooked to order with perfect crisp batter and the chips were excellent. Hardly a spot of oil on the paper shows the cooking temperature was spot on. I wish I lived in HH, I'd be there every week.

Mr Chippy is not a restaurant but a walk up counter for ordering cod, haddock, hake, plaice, sausage, and cops with all. We most usually order medium size haddock or cod and share medium order of chips. It.'s a perfect Friday or Saturday night meal.Father cooks the fish Sister flakes the orders and Mr Chippy salts and vinegar zest and wraps the order. A very efficient team. Most important , we have been going there for 10 years and have never suffered ill feelings.!Already thinking about Friday's fish dinner!
