Mother Hubbards in Bradford

So the Mrs and I fancied a fish butty and we thought we would try the Mother Hubbards in Baildon which used to be a Websters..which by the way was amazing...We asked for our food to be told the butty came with chips..we didn't want chips but what made this experience worthy of a review was the server just shrugged her shoulders saying ' all buttys come with chips'...her whole attitude was just poor...no suggestion of why not try this or why not try that just plain eye rolling and sighing with her colleague...even suggesting this is food waste led to her saying again 'all buttys come with chips'...Nearly £18 for the privilege..we understood the staff do not make the rules or set the prices but the sheer attitude of staff was ridiculous...Train your staff in customer Service Mother Hubbards because you won't be seeing us again

Yesterday was the first time me and my partner visited this fish shop and are extremely disappointed. We wanted 2 fish butties and a bag of chips. We were told we could not have fish butties by themselves as they had to come with chips! I queried this as every other fish shop I've been to in my life has served a fish butty by itself. The 2 young girls behind the counter were extremely rude and obviously did not want to be there. I again asked why I had to have chips with both of them. The prices in this shop are among the highest I've ever seen for fish and chips and the service we recieved while paying this extortionate price was absolutely terrible. I even told the girl that the chips would be thrown in the bin and with food poverty being at its highest it was extremely wasteful amd she just shrugged her shoulders at me. to force customers to take food they don't want is just ridiculous. Me and partner will never visit another mother hubbards just because they clearly don't care about food waste and they seem to employ staff who can't be bothered

Best fish and chips I have had in ages, the OAP fish and chips is amazing value my 90 Yr old mother in law really enjoyed it, will definitely be back.

So, on our way to Ilkley in May we ordered two fish butties...it all came freshly cooked so you have to wait a but... it was one piece of fish cut in half and placed into the two buns, it arrived with chips...at the time I said oh we didn't order chips, the assistant said oh it comes with chips....so for less than £6.00 we thought this a very good deal indeed. We'd not been here before. So we decided that we'd do the same in June...same assistant, same order but....we were charged over 16 quid ? I questioned this but the same assistant said that that was the price ??? We took a look at the menu and I think what happened is that the first time we were given a snack size fish bun...but, the menu said that chips with this are £ 1.50 extra. Really don't understand what's going on. Anyway the food, takeaway, is cooked nicely and I like that it's cooked fresh.

The fish was really good but there was a lot of black bits maybe peeling on chips but the mushy peas are extortionate will make my own in future
