Morrisons Supermarket Cafe in Doncaster

When we first arrived, we couldn’t find anywhere to sit. Not because of people at tables, because of the amount of rubbish and dirty plates at tables. We waited of 40 minutes for our food - my family waited nearly an hour for theirs even though we ordered at the same time. When it finally came out, the pie was burnt, lasagne was mediocre and gravy was more like water. Staff didn’t seem to have a clue what they were doing and when we left, the dirty plates that were on tables when we arrived were still there on departure. Many people complained and few asked for refunds. The only decent bit was children eat for free.

No chocolate in the machine staff said it's always getting blocked up, had the most revolting coffee i have ever had in my life, had lasagna which was ok but wanted sweet potato chips they didn't have any bearing in mind the cafe is in a shop and it was only 12.15 . We used to call for lunch quite often but i will not go anymore. A gentleman wanted beef dinner didn't have any beef, asked for chicken dinner didn't have chicken settled for chicken pie.

Are Morrisons really so hard up they can't put butter on toast and baked spuds any more and did away with brown sugar for your coffee? I used to eat in M cafes at least weekly, often more times but NOT ANY MORE!

Called in for brunch ordering a full English and a vegetarian breakfast. It was nice not to have to wait long but two full English breakfasts were brought to the table. Mistakes happen and both were taken back. We didn’t have to wait too long before the member of staff returned with a full English and a vegetarian. However, both were cold, very cold, tepid is an over statement. We used to eat at Morrisons on a regular basis, but the last two experiences at different stores have demonstrated that the service has fallen well below acceptable. We will be eating elsewhere from now on. It’s a shame we used to enjoy our meals.

Visited with the grandchildren for tea after school. Friendly staff, food was very good. Hot & cold drinks were good also. Service was good & value for money.

Not sure if a shop, cafe or petrol station. Okay but choices limited. Strange set up and offerings along with odd staff responses to queries

En route to holiday further north a break was required and this location close to the A1 fitted the bill. Food was fine andf at a good price . Could not ask for more

2day me & my friend decided to go to Morrisons cafe 4 our tea it was lovely would deffo recommend & it was cheaper as well

50% off scheme or no scheme, you still need to be proud of what you are sending out of your kitchen! 5 people for breakfast: lets start with the positives: social distancing screens- good menu choice - good Sausages- lovely! Beans- nice Toast- Not burnt, was still warm and really good quality bread. The Negatives Hot drinks from machine not very warm at all. Order: Person on the till got the order wrong as 4 out of the 5 breakfasts came then they had put the 5th one down just as 5 fried eggs!? They also were supposed to tell us then that they had ran out of black pudding and mushrooms but she didn't. Bacon - fatty and some did not have the amount of rashers stated on menu. Eggs - asked for fried eggs but they were all hard and overcooked. Hash browns- soaked in fat, so greasy Fried bread- like a brick! dipped in an oil slick, inedible! There should have been black pudding and mushrooms on 4 out of the 5 breakfasts but there was none on any so paid for something we did not get. Fresh juice could of done with being chilled. Not a regular moaner but it needs honest review. Not great for business as i would not be happy paying full price for that.

Visited today and had afternoon tea. It was lovely and very filling. The social distancing was spot on. It's always a pleasure to visit this restaurant (we do so approximately 3 times per week) where the staff are always welcoming and friendly. We certainly missed them during lockdown...

Even though there is a reduced menu the food was still great, was able to sit down too. Staff very nice and cafe was lovely and clean, not too busy either. Ordered afternoon tea to take away after I had done my grocery shopping, ate at home, it was lovely.

Used the Automated order system which said to see Poster to see what meals were on the two for £8.49 deal, no poster so just ordered and queried it, the girl at the till had a list but ours didn’t qualify. The staff in the kitchen communicated by shouting at the tops of their voices which was distracting and annoying. The food was very average and the mugs were all chipped. Only good point was the server who was very polite.

Had lunch before the weekly shop. Food was ice and hot but took nearly half an hour to arrive at our table. Server did apologise and sAid we were allowed a free hot drink because we had to wait.

Used to be nice food but now it’s run by idiots who haven’t got a clue , raw potatoes served as jackets and no body gets any of the orders right twice now Iv had to ask for money back will not return

Went to Selby with my wife and called for lunch. Fish and chips were chosen. After a wait they came, smallish portion although that was not selected. About 12 chips each. My wife moved her chips and found a dead fly underneath her food. So this must have been on the plate already. Of course we complained and she was offered a hot drink whilst waiting for a replacement meal. So I ate my lunch on my own and she did the same when it arrived.Although she did not eat much as now put off eating food. Compensation for this was a replacement drink for her only. Shocking customer service , shocking

Breakfast was absolutely vile, luke warm, egg shell in egg, some of staff cooking the food were rude, and it was well expensive!!! Up your game Morrisons Cafe, will NOT be visiting again, Yuk!

Visited on the opening day 1st July with my granddaughter + wife. Staff were lovely whilst dealing with the unfamiliar till to them as we were possibly the first customers.Drinks were lovely. Our little granddaughter enjoyed her toast.Overall I think this will be an asset to the store & I look forward to return on my shopping trip within this store.

Used self service ordering for food which was easy enough to do, food took a little while to come but it was nicely cooked and presented.

I'm an outdoor worker and once a month I like to treat myself to a full English breakfast, whilst the rest ofthe time it's healthy eating. So, when I go for a cooked breakfast I like it to be good.This day I was working near Morrisons and thought why not. So decided upon the big daddy breakfast with fried toast and poached eggs. Why offer poached eggs when they have no idea how to cook them. A great thing about poached eggs, is when you cut into them and they ooze yellow yoke! If that's what you want, then don't eat here! You might as well eat a boiled egg, with how much yoke is left to run!The fried bread was like eating leather as well. Dried over cooked sausages as well and over cooked hash browns! If the cafe was very busy then I could be forgiving but there was only me in ordering food! No excuses for such poor basic cooking skills. Well at least it's made me feel healthy again as the vast majority was left on the plate as I walked out!

The cafe was great not so long ago now, as with other Morrisons cafes they have made "improvements"Introduced clunky tables and chairs, the old tables had a tray holder underneath, so you can clear your table. The new ones have no tray holder, by the time you've finished the tray has been removed and you have to leave your table in a mess, they still have the leave your tray trolleys!On our visit most tables had other people's plates etc waiting to be cleared, I counted 10 tables. We struggled to find a clean table, they were filthy, even the chairs were covered in stains and food. We ended up wiping our own table.Food took a while and wasn't too hot. Mushrooms on breakfast have changed, look like tinned now. Terrible experience, dirty and unwelcoming now it's changed.We were frequent visitors but that was our last.

The food on offer is typical of large supermarket cafes. A good selection of English fayre very reasonably priced in comfortable surroundings. They have specials on for families with children in tow. A great place for a cuppa before or after doing the shopping.

Cafe has recently been refurbished and the hot drinks station has been moved, so much better. Self service ordering is easy and get an extra 100 more points, value !

Very disappointing. Cooked breakfast was the worst experienced in a Morrison's. Cold plates, lukewarm beans and bacon, cheap sausages and salty tinned mushrooms. Didn't complain at the time as in a hurry and worry what happens to replacement breakfast before it is served if you do request one! Coffee was OK so one star at the most

Met the son and granddaughter to assist us with our shop. It was required to feed our 1 year old granddaughter as she had no breakfast. So we were blackmailed for their help. lol.

Two people passing through wanted a quick meal 5.00pm on a Monday evening .

Shop here every week but not had the time to use cafe for a while. Family gathering wife, daughter in law and 2 grandchildren. Food, drinks were very good, Service was fast and efficient. Cafe was clean and clear of dirty pots. Supposed to be self returning of trays and dirty pots but not always done by idle customers. Very good visit.

Went for tea, children eat free after 3pm when two adults order a main meal. Had so wait for food and tables full of dirty pots.

Called in cafe prior to lunchtime. Service was good, food good and thoroughly enjoyed an unexpected visit to Morrison's with the grandchildren. Quite busy so expected a bit of a wait for food but not too long. A good visit for us all.

My partner and I recently went for breakfast here.

I called here with my mum for a breakfast as we were in the area. When we arrived at the cafe we found the full pile of trays were dirty, they’d clearly just had a very swift wipe and still had crumbs, food and water on them. We headed directly for the cashier and on the way stopped to get tea/coffee. The mugs were also dirty. They had aged caffeine stains in, and when we’d picked up 5/6 like it we gave up. We gave these to the cashier and complained about the the trays, she didn’t apologise, and really seemed as though she couldn’t have cared less. There were other issues including one coffee machine not working and the teapots were also dirty and had the knobs on the lids missing. We decided to go elsewhere.

Cannot go wrong with the breakfast here, everything you want on them for a reasonable price and you can swap things off and add things to replace for no extra cost!

Popped in for a late breakfast on Sunday, assuming the café would be identical to the one in Grantham, but oh dear! Toast dry, hard and uncoloured, beans looked as if they had been on the plate for ages, bent my fork trying to stab the bacon, and the egg was solid and rubbery. The hash brown was OK tho'. Lots of uncleared dirty tables around the café. Come on Morrisons, you can do a lot better than this.

Food is OK with reasonable prices, sometimes the quality is questionable. The staff are friendly and helpful.

Christmas shopping in the supermarket began with a family breakfast in the cafe. Service, food, drinks were all excellent. Not been in the cafe area for quite a while. Standards were great and thoroughly enjoyed our visit.

This café is very spacious and clean. They serve excellent meals, not gourmet but fresh, hot and filling at a very reasonable cost. Easy to walk to from the Holiday Inn Express across the road.

They obviously need more staff during busy times. Half of the food was room temperature with so.eof it very hot, Morrissons food for.the price is very good just needs a tweak.

We stopped going into the cafe each week after shopping as since the refurb it seemed to have gone downhill.

Ideal for combining shopping with breakfast, snack or lunch. Good value for money and standard normally pretty good

Just stopped for something to eat before work had chips and scampi nothing special but the food was great, tasty hot plenty and a great price. Certainly recommend for a quick bite to eat

Followed signs for services as I left M18 and ended up here! Not a place I would recommend. Basic food in basic dining area. Reasonable value, however I'd definitely not call again

Bit dry from spending all that mony on the weekly shop just a coffee but noticed half a roast chcken on the menu saw at least 4 people eating it looked great value only £5.50 next time eating at the weekend we will be at Morrisons:)

Food to the normal expected standards, and great value for money with kid she eating free. What I will say is that despite most tables being empty, they were filthy! We managed to find a cleaner one and sort it ourselves, but the other tables were not cleaned in the hour and a bit we were there. This is not the normal standards at other Morrisons cafe which is disappointing, especially with 5 shop staff and a security guard talking at the customer service desk with nothing to do during that time, they could have helped

Stopped in the cafe after grocery shop. Had tea and sandwiches -children's meals were good value but the tables could have done with a clean.

Only normally have a quick coffee if im meeting someone it must be good because its always busy never heard anyone complain

20 minutes for our bacon & sausage sandwiches. They were very nice when they finally arrived though!

Waited 26 minutes for our breakfast to arrive! Not good when all the other customers seemed to be getting served alot quicker. Too many staff, need to be quicker. Puts us off going back cos of this.

We were house hunting in Doncaster and needed the loo and a coffee. Morrisons loos were exceptionally clean and the staff we spoke to in the store were friendly and helpful. At lunch time it was an obvious place to return to. The menu was varied and well priced. The fish & chips was excellent value as was my deal of the day. To follow this with two puddings at £1 each was a real treat. The bread and butter pudding with custard was brilliant and my chocolate pudding with ice cream was huge and very tasty. All the staff were cheerful and made us feel welcome. My coffee was the right strength and the pot of tea did two full cups. We will return.

Always a good place to stop for a coffee, snack or meal. Good variety at budget prices. Usually plenty of room but can get busy with local business people visiting.

Did shopping then needed a coffee and cake. The coffee machine was empty of milk so waited ages for someone to come and fill it, then it was so weak and tasteless, very disappointed. We tried to complain but were basically told, tough, luckily the caramel, pecan twist was delicious. At £1.75 a cup you'd think the coffee would be at least drinkable, can we please have the old coffee machine back.

Meals are reasonably priced. My partner wisely chose the gammon, chips and peas which was good value. I, unfortunately, chose the steak pie with chips and peas. The pie came as a great deal of thickish gravy which contained a few tiny pieces of meat, totally enclosed in heavy pastry. As you can guess, I left it.The coffees were good, however and I wouldn't write the place off - I'll just have to choose more carefully in future.Some of the cutlery was less than clean and the racks where customers are expected to move their trays to when they have finished eating were full, so we left our tray on a nearby table - as did others.

Did some shopping felt a little peckish.Meal hot and served quickly. Check out afternoon deals, great value for money free hot drinks etc.

I've been here a couple of times now, had the fish n chips and the fish was lovely, also had breakfast there which is very nice and not greasy. The staff there are very friendly and polite even though it was a busy time for them

After arriving at our local Morrisons cafe which we have always used on a regular basis when we do our shopping. We arrived at 6:20pm to sit down and have a meal with our two children. The staff watched us arrive, sit down, get menus and look at them. I arrived at the till to order our food at 6:30pm to he told they didn't serve food past 6:30pm and that we could only have cakes and drinks. No where did it stipulate this on any signage. After challenging this the staff member still refused service which I was very angry about.The restaurant used to be open until 8pm so how is it the times have changes so drastically.I won't be returning again any time soon as a result of the poor service we received.

My wife and I called early morning for breakfast and had a 25 minute wait before the café was fully open. However, we were met by a friendly and obliging member of staff who encouraged us to help ourselves to coffee and tea while we waited, trusting us to settle up with the cashier later.The coffee was not as good as I expected and, when breakfast came, the poached eggs were very small but, overall, my wife and I enjoyed our food and found the service prompt, efficient and very amiable. We would definitely take breakfast there again.

For a busy supermarket cafe I was really surprised how nice it was.Excellent staff, very friendly staff. Great food at great prices. A very clean and tidy cafe.Enjoyable visit - well recommend them.

Kid's breakfast 3 items for £1, incredible. I had two eggs on toast with a cup of tea. Also a fruit shoot for a child. Less than £5. Well worth it

The menu change is dissapointing and every time I've been recently we have had to ask for clean knifes and forks as those available never look clean.

Called for the weekly shop and thought we would have a breakfast out Unless requested you receive half a fresh tomato but you can swap and change items your not keen on.Hot food received, tastes good and does what it's supposed to do. But we did have to wait so ended up drinking coffee before food came.Just need to sort out the staff Most seem as mardy as hell

Shop at Morrison's always stop off in Cafe prior to shopping. Service is very good, so is the food. Quick snack is just the job to get shopping done.

Morrisons Supermarket Cafe Balby, is one of the best supermarket cafe's I've used. They have a wide range of meals and desserts available. Not restaurant quality but you don't expect that. One child per adult eats free after three pm, which is great for families. My wife and I eat there about once a fortnight when I take her shopping. Most meals are good but the last time I had fish and chips, the fish was hidden in the batter and was very thin and hard.

the food tasted cheap and nothing was really cooked properly i would not recommend this place to anyone. also the staff was rude

I'm always tempted to go for the big breakfast but I thing the early start? (or is it flying start - I can't remember) Is good value for money.Food is good and no frills but inexpensive and you can do a swapsie with things you don't like for those you do.You pay for the order, go get your cutlery, napkins etc sit down with your number card on the display holder and wait. The out come the food .. simple!Negatives (and there has to be some).. Some of the cutlery looks a bit iffy so choose wisely but this is no different to other supermarket chain cafes.

As a regular shopper in Morrisons (Balby) we usually visit the cafe for a cuppa or cuppa & snack. Staff always friendly. Food always good as they use best Morrisons ingredients. Good value for money

This is for the Rothwell store in Leeds. It wasn't on Trip advisor! Cheap and cheerful a sneaky jam and cream scone to share too along with a quick cuppa. No staff seen other than on the till. Nearly got run over with the trolley boy at bottom of escalators! He had too many trolleys and ended up blocking our access to the car park. It could of caused an accident as people were approaching us with full trollies!

Called in as we had spent longer shopping in the area than expected and wanted something quick and simple. Excellent value Full English Breakfast with extra chips - extremely good value , nicely presented and well cooked - what more do you need. Friendly staff will go again.

Just called in for a Sunday afernoon snack to kill time. Enjoyed a reasonably priced sausage sandwich and a hot drink. Challenged my pre conceived ideas about supermarket eateries. As I find myself in this location regularly I wouldn't hesitate to pop back.

food on floor and windowsills is not acceptable in an establishment inside a supermarket. It is also accompanied by long waiting times, for awful, cheap food.Sorry Morrisons, never again.

The staff were really helpful and friendly, especially when dealing with complaints. And the colliery band playing was superb. A few things with our meal, no toast came out with meal, asked for toast/two slices - what came out were two halves of one slice; there was no butter on the roll as requested so back in the queue and some butter and sauce were provided free of charge. Attention to detail would improve service but as said the staff really couldn't have been nicer.

You don't go there to be wined and dined but it does brilliantly what it set out to do - provide decent cheap grub for it's shoppers which showcases the produce it sells.

Lol it's a good shop has everything in there you need staff are lovely can't fault it I liked that it was set out so I could find what I was looking for also had bits and bobs that you could pick up while I was away for my weekend if I'd forgotten anything

The sausages on the breakfast options are delicious , i love them , i wish they sold them in the store they are beautiful sausages , the best i have had

Loverly food good service fish chips are large and excellent value for the money charged, good tea served very frendly staff

Not that I have tried a prison canteen, but I can imagine this would have been worse. The chips were terrible even the kids wouldn't eat them. The puddings were obviously microwaved and rock hard! (crumble - concrete!) The cutlery was far from clean and the trays were filthy. Never again! Keep away no matter how hungry you are!
