Morrisons Cafe in Medway

It was lunchtime, the cafe was nowhere near full. There were no clean mugs, the teapots definitely need a good clean/descale and then there is only one hot water/coffee machine in working order. Speaking to others in the queue the machines have been out of order for many months?!? It's not expensive but surely one should expect a decent service?

The sausages were the worst I have ever eaten, so salty and horrible texture. The rest was just ok, came in two minutes, but not sure if that means they are not cooked fresh

They have swapped the sausages for something even cheaper and nastier than before. Awful They need to train the receptionist to have a personality. Used to be really good, but back to Wetherspoons after this.

Thought I’d have a lazy Sunday, roast beef for other half. Half a chicken roast for me. Chicken was fine, only 2 slices of beef though for other half , roast potatoes, carrots and peas, looked very much the sort you’d get with a TV dinner. Yorkshire was tiny. Did getmash as well 😀. Sad to say won’t be repeating this again. I do like Cafe, but will stick with snacks and maybe a breakfast next time .

So, not my usual place to write a review and I try to be positive, but .. I found myself in this backwater dive of a town called strood. I called this place home for a number of years growing up as a teenager. Went to use the self service machine and after pressing all the buttons, at the end of the process they say take a table number counter from the side and enter it in the machine ... no table counter number placemats. So went to the cashier and explained the situation, placed order and had to tell her a table number, lucky enough not busy so picked the largest table number (table that sits the most number of people) for me.. on my own. I had ordered a black coffee but was not given any direction by anyone and only found out after my breakfast came out, with no coffee or utensils. You had to go get your own coffee from the machine and pick up you own cutlery and condiments. Amongst my gripes about my breakfast was that I was very unhappy with my black pudding which was over fried as it had the same cruchiness as my toast. See photo of black pudding to see how stiff and crunchy it was, able to stab fork in and hold upright. They also gave me the knob end of the bread ! Who does that, I bin those bits.

Really pleased with the service and food we received on our visit for breakfast. Would recommend. Staff very helpful and friendly

Went in for breakfast, very unhelpful cashier, wanted to substitute tomato for another item. .. don't have black pudding (despite it being on the "extras list" and can't substitute one item for another .. would have to pay extra .. and had to tell her where we were sitting .. well we weren't at that moment so my wife had to go and find a table and come back with the number Been here before and was much better last time.. won't bother again

Nothing special about this cafe but I do not get why people moan about it, it’s a Morrison’s cafe, do people expect silver service? The food was hot and nice, my eggs were perfect, hot and runny yolk in my eggs, simple food and nothing over the top. Can’t fault it as the place was clean and the staff were being careful with hygiene and the Covid precautions. Wouldn’t mind breakfast here again.

Nice breakfast and a pot of tea, just what the doctor ordered after fasting for hospital tests! Pleased with the hand sanitizer on entrance, staff with ppe and cleaned table notices. Good value.

I enjoy Morrisons food, did not rate there Sunday lunch, but all other food is very nice and worth the money.

A nice large store with ample free parking with a fuel station adjacent, sadly my visit to the in-store cafe was a big disappointment as with the exception of the friendly male member of staff that served me, the tables all needed clearing, my salmon sandwich was very stale & dry with a strange taste to it, plus my black coffee was just tepid colored dishwater, such a shame & maybe it will of improved next time I visit the area?? Upon leaving the cafe, i also didn't like the attitude of the security guard when I politely asked him how long am I allowed to park in the car-park as I need to get some shopping, he sharply told me he had no idea & I need to go & queue up to ask Customer Services, I thought he would of known such information regarding the Store he is meant to be protecting, very helpful as he went straight back to chatting & not doing what he is paid to do, no Interest in helping the store customers!

Came for lunch ordered two roast chicken meals + two teas. Very easy to order and was served very quickly. The meals were huge looked like half a chicken roast and mashed potatoes, yorkshire pudding peas carrots and brussel sprouts. Hot and tasty and really good value as roast is priced at £5.75. As a suggestion I think that if it had stuffing instead of mashed potato and some parsnips it would be fantastic.

I visited this cafe today with my partner and was very unsatisfied. Was good service but the coffee machine was serving cold coffee and I found blue plastic in my jacket potato which was also cold and very dry, it was like eating leather. My partner on the other hand, his food was floating in grease and his eggs looks somewhat anaemic. Won't be visiting again

Great food really good value. Very had working staff. We are always given a time of her long we have to wait to get our meals. However on most occasions they are quicker than. You can even change what you want. If my wife and I ever have breakfast we only go to Morrisons in Strood . To give a people an idea what we think of Morrisons Strood it is 10 miles away from where we live.

Unfortunately I have nothing good to say. Everything is really fairly/nicely priced but the quality and service is rubbish. Teapots have all got their lid handles missing. We were served by a man who wasn’t listening to what we were saying. He got confused and held everything up. No eggs benedict because there was no hollandaise. Instead of putting another small breakfast down like we asked he added egg on toast. Then we corrected him and he spent ages working out how to change it - and couldn’t so we ended up agreeing to just have egg on toast instead with beans. Then when he processed it he’d only charged for beans and left the egg on toast off - so ended up having to re-order something we didn’t actually want. He was the only one in the cafe and there was a massive queue. Then we went to the condiment stand - no skimmed milk and everything was dirty. Our food came out quickly but two of the meals were missing butter, so had to go to the kitchen to ask for butter. It was so rubbish. The food was cold and boring. Just simply avoid.

Stopped in recently with grandchildren for a bite. Exceedingly helpful lady who took our order and advised that the children could have free breakfast if we spent a certain amount. Breakfast was very good came quickly and all were satisfied.The cafe was clean and tidy. Advise you try this cafe as it really is a gem and very cheap

I haven’t been to Morrisons in Strood for sometime but as we were in the area, we decided to have our breakfast in the Cafe. I had the vegetarian breakfast which was okay, but it could’ve been a much hotter. Also, the tinned mushroom were awful and the only taste I got was salt. My husband had the full English. Normally he loves a cooked breakfast! This wasn’t the case with this meal. He told me the food tasted as if it been sitting in a hot trolley for some time. Which was apprising as it was only 8 am. His fried eggs were solid, his fried bread was the crust of the loaf, the bacon was like cardboard and he also had the mushrooms ! I don’t think we will be returning to this cafe anytime soon!

Food came out in a reasonable time, nothing special but was reasonably priced. Seating area was quite clean. Would be happy to stop in for a bite to eat again if I was shopping there

Stopped in for pot of tea as shopping in supermarket. The staff were helpful the cafe clean and tidy. This place is one of only a few where you can get get reasonably priced food which is good. We will be stopping in again.

Had breakfast here few times . Good value for money staff very friendly. Only downside is the eggs . I’m always wary there either under or over cooked. Apart from that would come here for a quick munch . Big daddy I think it’s called it’s massive and I reccomened

Visited today with grandchildren for meal. Ordered two fish and chips + two teas the children has pizza/chips, chicken nuggets/chips + two drinks. Where can you go and get childrens meals that are free ( kids eat free from 3pm). Meal deal £10.

did our shopping in the store , then decided to have a coffee and a cake after . the service was good , nice choice of cakes , tables were clean and tidy , no dirty pots . We enjoyed our visit .

We arrived prior to 12.00 but was told that the lunches were ready. However, we had to wait "a while" for our lunches to arrive. Meanwhile we had our tea to drink. The café was spacious and clean. My macaroni cheese and side salad was very nice and plentiful. My husband's meal arrived without the peas but the waitress returned VERY quickly with a serving of peas, must to our surprise. We had thought that they wouldn't arrive. So the picture is before the peas arrived, sorry.

visited today for there big breakfast the one with 19 items food was warm and not hot and ingredients missing and was pilled on a normal size plate it looked like it had been thrown on just a mess no presentation on the upside service was good. for something that as just started i thought morrisons may have been a bit more ready ie ; full ingredients and large plates as advertised

Come here quite often and the staff have not got a clue every time. They are all rude. The cafe is always a mess. They have no people skills. It’s a shame because the food is pretty decent.

Decided to eat here before shopping. Ordered a veggie burger which was delicious and served very quickly. Angela served me - she was bright, cheerful and professional. Thank you Angela

Not worth the bother of queuing for third rate food, which arrived cold and inedible. The waiting staff are very lack lustre and have a couldn't care less. Attitude to the customers. Seem to forget that without customers they would be out of work

This community type cafe us well used by snipers on Morrison and is a well established part of the store. However the organisation of the ordering and service of food appears to have gone awry. Friendly staff .

I love morrisons for their cafe and groceries.

Staff very friendly, need to check crockery before bringing out as a lot of the cups/mugs were dirty.

Went to the cafe for breakfast. The bacon was cold and "stringy" like it hadn't been cooked, there wasn't any teapots ready. No black pudding for the breakfasts... no black pudding? They're a supermarket... go and get some!

Solíamos ir a este café una vez a la semana entre visitar el gimnasio y hacer nuestras compras. Sólo he estado en el café un par de veces en los últimos meses, ya que se ha deteriorado severamente. Visita de hoy fue la peor todavía! Las mesas estaban sucias con platos sucios! Vi varias personas sentarse en mesas cubiertas con sobras de otras personas y platos sucios, ya no había mesas limpias. Tardé 10 minutos en pedir y pagar y luego esperamos 30 minutos más para huevos y frijoles en las tostadas. Fue tibia cuando finalmente llegamos y no era muy bueno! Ambas máquinas de café quedaron sin suministros, y llevó una petición de un cliente antes de 3 miembros diferentes del personal parecía en las máquinas y finalmente lo solucionaron. No nos quejamos porque es obvio que no hay personal suficiente para lidiar con la carga de trabajo y no desea añadir a su estrés. De hecho creo que no quiero ir allí de nuevo.

Cada mesa gratis fue sembrado con vajilla y cubertería usada. El suelo estaba sembrado de escombros de comida y pegajosas.

Cuando el personal no están ocupados hasta charlando a sus amigos de visita y te espera para servicio, son apenas interesado en todo. Entiendo que no puede ser el trabajo más interesante en el mundo, pero C'Mon. . .

La comida está bien pero el servicio es lento parecen correr con poco personal en la cocina tienen buen menú y me gusta la máquina de bebidas, pero sí siempre comida lenta aunque está bien

He visitado Café Morrison's regularmente durante los últimos años y en los últimos años es realmente ido cuesta abajo.

Very little can be said about this very average supermarket cafe. The food appears to mainly be the factory prepared, packaged and reheated type. They are often understaffed, so you may have to wait a while for your order, and because of this short staffing, the tables are often not cleared of rubbish for some time, when they're busy. The high point of a visit there, is the kids eat free (after school hours) offer they do with an adult meal purchase...

I arrived to buy two tonne of butter for christmas celebration when I felt a rumbly in me tumbly. I eyed up the tomato puree in the aisle and considered injecting it into my ears but decided against as young lad at the t'till would have to clean up soggy sticky messy yayyy Wilfred bramble. Anyway I waddled Into the cafe and requested a piddle fruitcake and the woman served me one almost instantly. It was slightly dry but VERY tasty and I gobbled the whole lot then went back.to Yorkshire a very fat silly man dressed as cucumber carseat

We have been going to this cafe for years. Since the makeover it has deteriorated unfortunately. There are not enough staff. Most of the time recently they have one woman trying to take hot food orders, work the till and replenish items. It is not fair on her! It is ridiculous having only one till in any event. The last few times we have been tables haven't been cleared or cleaned all the time we were there (over an hour). The cutlery and mugs keep running out.The food is very good, but they desperately need more staff. I have worked in a supermarket cafe and think morrisons should be ashamed of how they are treating the staff and customers in this cafe. If it doesn't improve soon they will certainly lose my regular custom.

The coffee and chocolate excellent. Not sure I like the siting of drinks machine. Place is adequate, but table appear to be left with pates etc., for a long period of time, however the patrons are expected to clear the table and place their trays in trollies provided.

the food is awful the lengh of time you have to wait is nonsense and the staff are horrible. don't expect much but come on

I have to say on the last few times visited we didn't have a good experience. I'm not sure if understaffed or just not upto it. Lack of food, which is surprising considering inside shop, I understand it's different parts, stock etc. However everything we ordered they didn't have and at 1pm on a Friday......Nothing was out, no cups of tea bags for tea. No cutlery, maybe something was broken. Well dishwasher needs a service as still dirty. Cakes left in fridge too long, really dry considering the price. Sorry but you really need to pick it up, it used to be ok.

its a supermarket café, no frills but nice food, clean areas and even the long queue moved along quickly

The food is great value and really nice. The cafe was clean but they could do with more staff serving on the till as there was only one and she kept wandering of to get things so that took quite a while.

Stopped by at Morrison's on my way back from Rochester, I had visited here with my sister and her family last year and had been impressed with the All Day Breakfast so was looking forward to a similar tasty meal. At this visit there didn't seem to be enough staff and the meal took ages to arrive. Overall the meal was still tasty but looked rushed.

We popped in for coffee and cake before shopping approx 2pm.Where do I start.........only saw one lady serving, very nice, but she can't do everything.Hardly any cakes, therefore no choice, so we just bought coffee.Picked up tray - there was nowhere to sit as every table, and I mean every table, was dirty with plates etc etc. We cleared a table to sit down, but the table was filthy.Would I go back in there? Not likely until there are more staff in that cafe.

only used this place as needed to do a bit of shopping and had an hour kill before my next appointment in the area! Selection v poor, service ridiculously slow with only one person at the till ????? one of the machines appeared to be leaking and a sticky mess all over the floor ( that in 20mins had not been cleaned up!) - yep 20 mins from joining the queue we were just paying for the coffees? and there were not that many people in front of us ? about 10????? coffee - hmm well you grab a cup and then go to a machine and press a button and out comes the cappucino - its the same as those cappuciono sachets that you add water to at home! very poor effort. Food very basic but cheap - I guess thats the attraction - price! ITS certainly not service, cleanliness or quality or speed

Really pleasantly surprised by the spicy tomato dressing on the burger today. Zingy! The cafe is good value for money and staff generally lovely.

I do not want to write anything, Cafe staff inconsiderate and not attentive to visitors. When the manager called to say that his staff is not polite to find, we asked to change just a portion, because that is one of our servings found hair. The manager ignored our claim. Now I do not visit this shop and cafe

Reluctantly went for breakfast there as last time went was horrible too but decided to try it again as hoped would be better ! Asked for 2 big breakfasts and could have toast instead of fried slice ! Food delivered and got fried slice ! Said asked for toast ! Off man went and come back with 1/2 slice each ofDry toast ! No butter! Said where is butter and he said sorry that's what you get! Bacon was fatty ! Eggs snotty ! It wasn't nice ! Wish had gone to a proper cafe ! Coffee was nice though

Went in for lunch as was convenient. Didn't expect fine dining but did expect more. The food was dry and cheap quality. Reminded me of a school dinner and I'm in my 40s! Worst burger I have ever eaten!!!

Only really had the All Day breakfast and that was good, and I guess competitively priced (mind you The Copperfield do an Eat as much as you like breakfast for £3.99) it's what it is a Supermarket Cafe nothing more, nothing less.......

Visited with family for lunch, ended up with the all day breakfast which was large and tasty. service was great and very friendly.Excellent value when in Strood.

We had breakfast here and the food was of a decent quality and reasonably priced. Service was reasonably quick considering how busy they were and staff were friendly

Not much to say all but it's your typical shop cafe. The food isn't to bad if they have it in stock. The only problem is waiting for the staff to bring your food out, walking past your number and then come back and say oh I walked past you.

I go for lunch with my Grandad and he loves it. Huge variety of food from snacks to full meals with pudding and all at a bargain price. They have recently changed all the furniture to individual wooden tables and chairs which makes it a much nicer experience. Service is excellent and staff are all very attentive and polite.

Stopped here for a quick bite to eat. Now - I wasn't expecting a world class experience, and I've taken that into consideration - but I was expecting a half decent meal. I ordere the burger with bacon & cheese & chips. Not bad for £4.00 or so, but the burger was dry, the seeded bun was infact a floured bap & the cheese just a slab of cheddar which the burger wasn't hot enough to soften let alone melt. The chips were soggy. My daughter had the kids meal which was a tiny pair of triangle sandwiches made from a single slice of value white bread with gobs of butter in it & a thin scrape of cream cheese. The wife had the tomato soup which actually looked really nice, but she said it wasn't. I'm not sure if Morrison's have contracted out the catering here - if they have they need to realise that the cafe isn't making a good impression. I was under the impression that supermarket cafes were a chance for the supermarket to showcase their own brands....

Staying at a local venue, we tried here for breakfast on a couple of mornings but were disappointed because the food was, at best, lukewarm. The value was good, and the staff ok but a breakfast needs to be HOT to start off the day. The other 7 mornings we went elsewhere, so they lost quite a bit of business from us!

For a morrisons cafe, the food was actually nice and really good price. Great to have lunch or dinner after shopping with the kids and it don't break the bank.

Most of the time the food is pretty good. What really winds me up about this cafe is that they seem to run out of food!! (hello! You are in a shop!?!? Why can't you buy Morrisons sausages? Why Catering ones? Even if only in emergencies?no is what we are told. They would rather lose the customers? Most bizarre!). Also my other gripe is that it often looks quite messy although you will see people cleaning up. They just don't seem to be getting anywhere. The staff in general are very friendly and helpful. A couple of younger staff especially so. This cafe has great offers on during school term time where kids can eat for free after 4pm on weekdays as long as with a paying adult. So in effect a family of 2 adults and 2 children can eat for less than £10. What a bargain!!

Waited nearly an hour for food obviously no system in place for prioritising Odets as others received their food before we did and ordered along time after us. Dirty cutlery, food arrived cold so didn't eat it. Asked to speak to manager whose name was Paul who was totally useless . Quite disgusted by way we were treated. Left our food and will never return again.

Staff are friendly and helpful. Food is ok and reasonable price. Have sometimes had to wait a little while for food. sometimes had to remind staff to fill up coffee machine or cutlery.

I really can't understand how the cafe here achieves any stars on the food safety chart. I certainly hope their kitchen is better than their cutlery, tables, floor, crockery, but would seriously doubt that. God knows what type of manager runs or allows such squalid conditions. I hope that the local council will be making another visit shortly! Today, there were no fruit juices in any of the machines, cutlery was filthy, and container it was kept in was filthy (was told it gets cleaned on Mondays!!). We dropped something on the floor under the table and found when ducking down that there were filthy pieces of rag or paper stuffed under the table and between two tables pushed together old mouldy food, the bottom of one of our plates felt rough, with old food! There is no excuse for this, we certainly won't want to eat or even drink there again

Got a nice freshly ground coffee here, this was very nice. The staff seem cheerful and helpful enough. The cafe is kept considerably clean, but some tables do need to be looked at. Nice cafe:)

went to morrisons at maldon essex to get shopping very clean and well stocked supermarket staff very helpful lovley choice of meats . then had a big breakfast. very good value and staff working hard and so polite no trouble getting us some spoons and sauces . would go again .

we like morrisons,so we use the cafe for a reasonably cheap meal,a good selection and staff are very friendly and helpfull,shame tescos got rid of there cafes,as we liked them to.so well done morrissons you have my attention.

had good look round store shelfs well stocked and shop floor clean and tidy when fin shopping went to cafe food ok could have done with being a bit hotter

Morrisons serve a fantastic breakfast cooked to order and very good value. They have a varied menu and a good choice of sandwiches etc.

arrived 12pm ordered food still waiting for it at 1.30 . went up to the till to ask where it was only to be told they lost my order. i asked to see the manager but was told it was her day off they sent this lady who was the cafe manager she was useless kept saying wasnt her fault. i eventually got a refund. wont ever go there again .

Can't believe I'm bothering to review a supermarket cafe, but here we go...I've been here more times than I could count. Not because it's particularly tasty, and not because it's particularly cheap (although of course it's good value), but just because it's convenient.We've just come back from there in fact. 2x bangers and mash, 2x desserts, a pot of tea and a large fizzy drink for a little over a tenner.Service today was pretty good, but often times there's been quite a wait when they are busy. And staff can vary all the way from ignorant to friendly.Food is perfectly edible without being anything to write home about, although I do think their fish and chips is particularly nice. The Hunter's Chicken is also a pleasant dish and is the one I have more often than not.Not really much else to say. This is after all just a cafe in a supermarket! Food is reasonable, as is the price, and really that's as much as you can expect in this sort of establishment.

Popped in for lunch today there was only one lady on the tills, 13 people in front of us in queue waiting for coffee cups. When dinner turned up I had soggy scampi lukewarm chips and nuked garden peas. When I asked the girl for my tartare sauce she said I had to get it myself - even though it was supposed to be with my dinner. It took me asking 4 members of staff where I could get this sauce from and the poor lady on the till finally got me some. Disgusting service, tables full of dirty crockery and cold food that tasted like cardboard. Very disappointed.

If you are refering to the food hall part of this supermarket, then it is fowl.I ordered a Fly Start breakfast, when after 20 mins of waiting it was served up by a old blind woman, who walked it around the whole seating area 6 times before sighting my table number. It arrived cold and dry, barely food at all. The customer service is beyond shocking, on another visit at around lunch time I ordered a jacket potato, only to be told they have run out, when I stated that this is a supermarket, and you will find about 2 tons of patato's just across theother side of the building in the vegetable section, this was met with disinterest. I dont shop in Morrisons anymore, no dont I eat in their food halls. I find the staff Pig Ignorant. Bad Sevice + Bad Quality = Your not having my money FACT.

I`m still licking my lips after yesterday evening`s meal at Morrisons cafetaria in Strood . Haddock ,beans or peas and chips in satisfying quantities . Cooking time 15 minutes usually, less for 3 sausages, egg, peas and chips . I agree with Incartek`s assessment, and the liver, onions and chips are a favourite of mine , preferable to the mashed potato in my opinion . Their cakes and desserts look good quality but are too pricey for this pensioner . Bread and butter at 49p is ridiculous!It is too busy at lunch time for me , I prefer the quieter evening . Some shopping hum from the store , not much .Pleasant decor, cumfy seating. My meal cost £4.55 , sauce sachet 10p , Cappuchino coffee £1.35 . Total £6.00 Until recently the coffee was free with a meal . Kids eat free after 4pm Mon- Fri, with any adult hot meal .Always polite , friendly service by the staff . It closes at 7pm but an hour or so later Thur- Sat . Large car park . Modern layout of the store .

I don't know whether other supermarket cafeterias have made it into Trip Adviser but I want to put a pitch in favour of Morrisons - or specifically Morissions Strood.It's not where you go for a slap up gourmet meal, but if it is far better than its competiors - Twcxol, Sainsubury etc and streets ahead of the popular chains such as KFC, Burger King and Macodnalds.The fish and chips is fresh, good proportions and well cooked; the traditional pie and meat meals good, balanced. My wife likes liver and bacon and says that is good. So for families, pensioners like ourselves, I would recommend it.And if you are driving down the M2 turn off at the A228 (Junction 2) - a better deal than going to the Gillingham Service Station.
