Breakfast...cold plates, with a clear film on them possibly a dishwasher issue? Asked for a clean plate and was rudely told that she would get me another, but it would be exactly the same!! Returned with a clean plate, and silently offered it to me befire walking away. I was so incensed by this poor attutude that I didn't bother to eat breakfast.

Just had supper with my in-laws tonight. Food was very good and very reasonably priced. Our Waitress Chloe was exceptional and very professional. Thank you all for your efforts

Fried egg yolks not runny as being kept on hot plate but all other breakfast items I had were tasty and hot. Friendly helpful staff member helped sort a wheelchair space at a table. Pleasant atmosphere (not loud)

Service very slow but nice meal

Great place for lunch and dinner. Located near a river. Beautiful English atmosphere. Warm and intimate decor, perfect for spending time as a couple or with friends. Very good food, quality and preparation of high level dishes. They serve a glass of good red wine on request, beers... soft drinks. Beautiful experience. Average prices. Ample free parking in front. Dogs are also allowed. Advise.

Nice selection of food for different dietary requirements, good price and the staff are absolutely lovely. They have a new selection of cocktails which are delicious! Staff went out of their way to make my mum's birthday special, which really made the experience here 5 stars :)

While visiting family, we had a meal at the Honourable Pilot. We have no complaints about our meal, it was good. We were quite disgusted as there was a child around the age of 8/9 picking up clean cutlery off the tables sometimes dropping them on the floor & putting straight back on the tables! That could have happened at our table before we got there. Fortunately I had some wipes to clean our knifes, forks etc. Not sure will eat again there.

The waiter Nick was first class for us and my youngest birthday. We had a lively sunday carvery and food was delicious. Yummy roasties and cauliflower cheese.

how awful this place is!!!! went for family meal, rude server!! rude head chef!! wouldn't consider allergies or intolerance's. I had fish and chips did not eat it in the end as felt I was going to be ill from it it was like eating a rubber band from one try of it and tasted like chemicals!!!!!!!! all the gammon was fat! jacket potato raw, chicken dry and hard like a brick! chips looks like they been left to die. the worst place to eat. used to be good years ago and now really they need to shut down. never ever go there and still rip you off for food you can't actually eat!!!!!!!! so went hungry as didn't want to get really poorly!! womens toilets covered in mould! mens all loo roll thrown up on the celling it's disgusting in that place! avoid. Don't deserve any stars!

Havent been here for about 8 years, and vowed never to return. But here i was and this time under a new chain the food was really good and service was friendly and efficient. I risked a steak and it was cooked the way i like and very tender and i didnt have to have chips with it like most places. Good value for money and a 40% discount voucher helped too. Only downside bar closed at 10 on a week days.

Easy access and plenty of parking. We were greeted on arrival, which was pleasant. The staff all seem attentive. Once we had ordered our meals, we didn't have wait long. The meals themselves were delicious no complaints.

was disgusted with the staff there last night went in with a friend as was her birthday treat got told by a very rude waiter we couldn't have s table in the circle part wanted to put us in s dark corner asked why we couldn't sit at the table that was empty he said it needed wiping we said we will wait no problem as it want busy in there and he refused i asked to speak to the manager well she was also very off and didn't want to know or even call the waiter over to ask if he could clean the table for us.. disgusted i use to go there regular but never want to go there again .. we went along to the star where we had great service couldn't do enough to make our stay a happy one ..

Could not fault the food. Absolutely perfect. Server was very polite and helpful. Its a place that serves different food unlike Greene King that dominates the area serving the same food in every one of their pubs. (We use 5 of them although they are good too) Our food today made a welcomed change from the norm. Annoying when you eat out daily as it gets boring. Thank you. We will start using your restaurant in future and knock one of our Greene King restaurants on the head. Well done. Great day with family.

Great place for decent food, brought to you by friendly, bubbly staff. I had a lovely meal here with a group of close friends and it was really nice. Staff are attentive without 'hovering' and always buzzing around clearing tables etc when they aren't serving food. Good food, great atmosphere and a fabulous time was had by all.

Turned up and ordered food…starter took about 40 minutes (shared plate) and food another 30/40 after that - nothing too hard. Just a handful of people here when we turned up and ordered. We could handle the odd issue but with slow service, a waitress that wasn’t impressed whenever we asked a question, Coke was watered down, wrong food served … it was a bit disappointing

Food is decent and the service is always good but am getting sick of being sat near groups of families with screaming kids, when we were a party of adults. Dont think ill be back again anytime soon left with migraine. Would have stayed longer for a pudding but left early.

Service was incredibly slow, even considering the time of day we went it was very quiet. Once we had our order taken, waited a very long time even for just the drinks to turn up. The one girl that served us, was very polite but seemed to be doing all the work whilst the other two stood around chatting. When the food came out it was ok at best. Had a mixed grill and a spicy chicken burger between the two of us. The portion size for both was rather meager. Adequate parking, but overall all not a great experience.

24th July my friend & I went for breakfast-to be truly honest Sylvia was more or less running the whole place from where we could see, I’ve given a 5* for service and that is totally for her!! She was signing people in and it was very busy, serving and replenishing food as and when needed and also clearing tables. So a whopping well done to her and I hope the boss will reward her for holding the place together. We hadn’t met Sylvia before and even asked her name as we were leaving-she was magnificent in her efforts

Very disappointed and angry when I left. We wanted to order off the 2 mains for £11ish menu. Out of that menu there was only one vegetarian option which I ordered. I was told she'd have to go and check they had it to which they didn't. After I said there was nothing else I would have, the entire attitude changed and we were treated with no customer service at all. It felt very much like we were being criticised and treated poorly because we were ordering off the value meal menus. We had a drink each, the Guinness Zero which was bought to the table in a can and already half poured. No issue with the can, but at least deliver the can full to give the customer the chance to pour it themselves, or pour the whole can and deliver just the glass to the customer with the drink already poured. Also had a house soda with Cherry and Vanilla which wasn't mixed at all and the straw was too small to use as a stirrer! All I could taste was soda water and then had a hit of syrup at the bottom of the glass. All in all, a very disappointing experience and will never go back. Ended up at the Hungry Horse down the road and couldn't have been treated better!

Had breakfast here this morning with my family. Both food and service was great. Unfortunately my grandson lost his phone in one of the booth seats. As we couldn’t get it out, Alison and Emilia came to our rescue, exceptionally great member of staff. Total asset to the company.

Me and my family came here for the all you can eat breakfast buffet. On arrival we were greeted by a really welcoming hostess. We were shown to a table right away. The options here for breakfast are amazing, what makes it better is 2 children dine free per one paying adult! For £10.99 you get a full English, cereals, toast, pancakes, fruit, yoghurt and croissants as well as other little treats like breakfast muffins. Unlimited fresh juice, squash tea and coffee. All of the condiments are branded and free most places charge extra for Nutella and syrup pots. My son ended up dropping his phone down the side of our fixed seat. The training manager Emilia was really polite and helpful as well as Alison the manager on shift. Both members of staff are a real credit to the team. The customer service from these two women is impeccable! We retrieved the phone after a short few minutes.

Service was great. Very prompt and courteous. Most of the food was great. Mixed platter but the steak was quite tough...but the rest was all very enjoyable. Still excellent value ....recommend giving it a try.

Went here with my son's family for an early father's day meal. Food and service was excellent. Play area for smaller children. Plenty of parking. Very clean, including toilets.

On Saturday 29th July 2024 I had my Birthday meal at 1pm and to say I was disappointed is an understatement.

The reason I have given it low stars is because do not like paying £10 for a cold breakfast at 8.00 am. Nothing was kept warm all just slapped on trays and left open will not use again I

Came for a Sunday carvery and food was so fresh and delicious! Our waitress Lucy B was lovely and gave us great service throughout our visit, definitely recommend!

We have been going there for about 10 months now was only popping in to try it to be honest but wow the food service and people we have met we now class it as our local the manager is amazing and the staff exceptional being disabled can’t carry my food with my crutches but everyone will always offer to help me especially Beth she goes above an beyond she’s a wonderful lady also the lady who is the chef I believe her name is Chelsea wow what a cook we have never ever had a bad meal and she’s also so kind always helps me Honerable pilot in my opinion you are the best restaurant we have been in thank you so much all of you

I visited this place over five years ago and the service was so exceptionally slow I vowed never to return. However, meeting a friend, who was over from The Maldives, I reluctantly agreed to meet him here. At 9.00pm we met and was advised by a young lad that he was no longer able to serve drinks (alcohol, soft drinks or tea / coffee), as instructed by the manager. “If he served us, he would have to serve everyone else”, despite there being only 6 other people in the restaurant.? If it’s a late ish drink you require with pleasant service I’d give this place a wide berth.

Chef Chelsea was on form as always,and team members Chloe/Lucy and Beth were very attentive and polite, overall a very pleasant experience.

Just avoid, filthy, overpriced, no hot Buffett any longer yet prices have gone up and standards have gone down. I was served raw eggs and grey hairs on the plate.

I've been before quite a lot. But this evening the service was terrible. Probably some of the worst service I've ever received! We sat down at the table and the waitress served as as normal and allowing us to move table for better access for a wheelchair then she took our order. We ordered 3 drinks, starters, sides and mains and a dessert. It took 40 minutes (bearing in mind it wasn't that busy) to bring our Drinks, STARTERS and mains all at once! What restaurant brings a starter and main out at the same time? Kinda beats the point really, because surely that is classed as a side, right? By the time we started eating our meal we realised I hadn't received my drink and we had no sides to the already full table. So I mentioned this to the waitress and I eventually received my drink. The sides didn't come until after we finished! It's a side not a dessert! We waited a further ten minutes after our meal for my daughter's dessert that never came. We gave up and asked for the bill to then say to the lady I'm not paying for the dessert because we never received it! I understand that you were under staffed because you had the chiefs walking around and collecting the plates instead of actually cooking the meals, but that is not the customer's problem. We shouldn't have to receive half the service but pay full price because you have half the staff! Not happy Breakfast Review... Honestly I have no idea what's going on with this place. Breakfast used to be so good.... The coffee machine is barely working and the past 5 times I've came in the space of about 3 months you haven't had orange juice and when I asked a member or staff they said that it's because the price of it has gone up. Which would be completely understandable if you hadn't already upped your prices!! The fact that you've upped your prices surely you can afford an extra coffee machine and to not sell the same tropical rubbish that absolutely no adult likes! Honestly don't know what's happened to this place over a couple years but I will be going down the road to manor farm from now on

I was served the wrong food and then had to wait even longer. This was despite waiting over half an hour for our food already. Staff seemed more interested in talking amongst themselves than attending to customers. One waitress had a family in that she clearly knew personally and stood there on and off for a while having a chat. They have removed a couple of favourite items from the dessert menu, which is very disappointing as their dessert menu is now very underwhelming.

Met for a catch up with friends and enjoyed excellent service and decent food at good value.

Poor customer service. Breakfast took 40 minutes to come out and the restaurant was basically empty. Put all breakfast items away 15 minutes before breakfast time had finished. Won't be returning.

Food is fantastic. Such a shame to be let down by such poor service. Quite a frequent guest at the hotel next door so end up eating at the Honorable Pilot. For the last 4 weeks in a row I've ordered food and it has taken an hour to arrive. For literally one person. Staff seem more interested in customer service and chatting to the regulars than actually serving customers and I genuinely feel the same negative feeling each and every time I visit this place. Not usually one to leave negative reviews, but honestly feeling the same way each and everytime. Honestly avoid this place. Will be booking elsewhere in the future, it's a shame as my company pay a lot for my stays and have most definitely paid this company a lot of money in meal deals and food over the last 6 months. The service has drastically reduced. If you want to wait 1+ hour for your food and then wait another 20-30 minutes to pay, then this is the place to be.

After waiting several minutes for someone to seat us we were put in the back, less comfortable area of the pub despite it being nearly empty. We were not asked what we wanted to drink and it was a long time before someone came to take our order. We both ordered gin, a shared starter and a main course. When the drinks came neither had ice, one had a straw and the other a slice of lemon. When the shared starter arrived we had to ask for plates. We sat for a long time with uncleared plates and eventually were asked if we wanted them taken away and did we want our mains. When the mains arrived they were luke warm. The Faitja burger had a nice flavour but the pot of chilli that came with it had only about two tablespoons of chilli, was cold and had a film across the top like it had been sitting around for a while. The gamon steak was fine, but not very hot. We had to call the waitress to get the bill. At no point were we asked if we wanted another drink or if everything was ok. Service was very slow although the waitress was pleasant, but very few staff seemed to be present and we felt forgotten. Any other time I would have sent the meals back but as I with my elderly mother who had just been to the local crematorium to lay flowers I did not want to make a fuss.

I'd like to give it minus stars! The waiter forgot our drinks and did not listen to my complaint that the steak was inedible. The wait for food was so long my eggs were cold and hard. Find a decent budget place like wetherspoons.

Don't bother to go here the service is not good at all. We waited by the sign "wait here to be seated" for a full 15 minutes only to told we full. There wasn't even a apology for keeping us waiting. Never again.

We usually go and have breakfast or Sunday Roast here, food is always okay. The only thing worrying here is that they need to seriously improve the customer service. Today is the second occasion they didn't bother to acknowledge the additional request we put in our booking on the website. The first time was about "gluten free bread requested". The way the member of staff asked the question "any allergies at all?" clearly showed that they did not bother to read the booking information. We put gluten free bread in our reservation and this is a serious allergy because my husband could have ended up in hospital if it had been missed. They need to pay attention to booking information. The second occasion was today, when we requested to seat at table 64. The staff didn't say anything, we had to ask the question: what about the table that we requested? The manner in which the staff replied to our request, again clearly showed that they didn't bother to read the request. They did not even check to see what was requested and simply said "we can't always fulfill what the customer requested". When I went to the toilet, I saw that the requested table was unoccupied. It remained unoccupied throughout the period we were there. We didn't bother to argue with the staff, we simply took this as them having an ignorant, nonchalant and dismissive attitude towards customers. This is why I have given them a one star for this rather poor customer service which greatly lowered my customer experience. If this continues we will take our business elsewhere. Thank you.

Busy as it was half term went for breakfast not a huge amount of choice but was fresh and hot. The staff were very friendly and didn't mind us sitting and chatting way beyond the breakfast session finishing. Nice not to be rushed out the door.

Food was ok staff not very good plenty of room in spite of us booking a table we were seated right next to a birthday party with plenty of children. We moved but atmosphere was awful.

Was here for lunch today as a party of 8. The staff are welcoming and friendly and were very accommodating when we moved a table to allow us to sit in a tighter group rather than being spread out. The food was the best it's been in the several times we've been there and Jess, in particular (our server) was the epitomy of service with a smile. I've only marked the overall rating down because another server (not Jess) forgot to put one of our drinks order through but mistakes and Jess got it sorted out for us quickly and apologetically.

Food ok for a quick evening meal, service was slow for a Wednesday early evening, and the waiter was quite abrupt, gave up waiting for him to come and take our payment so took the card to the bar as that was the only place we could see a member of staff, if I were less honest we could have easily walked out without paying!

Food very on point drinks a bit pricey

No Stella. Doombar was cloudy. Carvery was cold. Meat was thinly cut and a large carvery seemed small. We will see if the new restaurant will be better but i doubt it unless the manager sorts it out. Visited on a Sunday in March 2024, and it's no different. Roast potatoes were lumpy, and nobody came back to the table to say how the meal was. Even when we complained about the food and they said ill let the chef know, nobody came back to let us know what the chef said. Maybe he wasn't bothered. The plates were cold, making the luke warm food even colder.

I went here last night for my birthday celebration. It’s was a disaster from beginning to end and ruined the event! 2 of the starters never turned up and we had to ask 3 times for them. Then we got onto the mains! One asked for plain ribs and NO bbq. It came out bbq flavoured so my Bro had no main course. 1 burger was a cheese and bacon burger and came with no cheese the other was a plain burger with just lettuce and it came covered in sauce and salad. My Nephew had chips missing from his dinner and my chicken was almost burnt. The puddings came 20 mins apart! Half were meant to have strawberry’s but they’d run out. Finally the bill was totally wrong because they hadn’t charged the Mothers Day menu price or the kids menu price! Never again will we attended there.

Food was ok at best and slow service, we won't be returning. Update, we did in fact return and can confirm no improvement in service and the furniture is now very stained and dirty looking. Wine glass also not particularly clean.

Food quality was fine, let down by poor service levels. We asked for sauces with our dinner, never received. Lost patience and ordered dessert st bar myself to which was not a straight forward job either. God forbid you tell people the truth nowadays, all you get is "scorned" looks by the assumed supervisors on shift. Just seems to be another place affected by the Covid excuse. Good luck, save you're money and microwave yourself.

I came here as a table of 9 for birthday celebrations,being a Sunday it was extremely busy so can understand there being a few delays with drinks etc (having to ask where they were ) however there’s no excuse for cold food and wrong orders, my starter the potato strips with cheese and bacon were just about warm ,the outside ones were cold,my nephews steak was inedible and he left ,we also asked that he only have steak and chips on his plate (the chips were cold by the way ) but they bought it out with peas,my sons meal was asked to be bought out with no coleslaw or salad of which the didn’t adhere to that either ,everyone who had chips left them as they were cold !!!

Been here several times and been good but last 2 times. They forgot my wife's meal and this time 25th Feb 24 they forgot our starters and brought our main meals. Once they took the meal back they came back and asked if we wanted our starters and mains together. Worse think nol apologies and attitude of staff and manager very poor. Disappointed 😞

The food is very hit and miss along with the staff and the atmosphere... when it's nice it's lovely but it's not like that everytime... staff wise I find more rude and abrupt with the odd really nice one and who goes out of theire way to impress make sure customers have good service and always goes above and beyond for the customer... sadly the negative will always out do the positive cause 1 good server 3 bad ones so more negative comments....
