Moonlight Cafe in Swale

This used to be a very good cafe I would say the best in Faversham, but now it’s terrible prices have gone up by an average of 14% which in it’s self is OK what isn’t is that they have decreased portion size on mushrooms,chips,onions,beans and tomatoes and many others the staff are also terrible used to be good and attentive now they spend time talking to each other, texting or outside vaping and ignoring clients hopefully the owners will not only read this review but take drastic action to restore it to its once great cafe

The first and last visit. The food was dreadfully shepherd's pie was disgusting overcooked meat and mash potatoes at least 2 days old amd microwave, vegetables crap. The stake pie was frozen and and cooked in the microwave as well the chips hard as hell and a portion of beans like 1 soup spoon. The only thing was nice was a chicken nuggets for mu daughter.

Literally the best full English in Kent without a doubt. Cooked to absolute perfection especially the fried eggs. They are Turkish owners and they are great friendly people.

I visit the Moonlight every Sunday for their roast lamb, which I find faultless. Generous portions, tender and swimming in proper gravy. The waitresses are all excellent and they do the best fry up in town, too. Love this place

Another lovely breakfast. Quality is always consistent and staff are really helpful. Only complaint is that the mat ibside the entrance needs cleaning. It doesn't look as though it has been done in months. Doesn't give a good impression to strangers.

Went to the moonlight Cafe today for a late lunch with my wife and grandson. Ordered three meals and drinks. Half way through my meal of a mushroom and Ham omelette I found a black eye lash in my dinner. I informed the staff they said sorry. I went to pay and was surprised when they charged me for all three meals, they said they they could take off two pounds. I spoke with the owner and said this was not good enough, he was rude and aggressive in his manner and accused me that it could have been my eye lash, I did point out the eye lash was black and I have grey hair . He said he didn’t care and walked away. My advice would be to avoid this place at all cost and I would not recommend it to anyone.

Do not come here. Not only is the food horrible, but the tips given to the waitresses, they don’t even get them. They go either in a tip jar that (which don’t seem to be for the waitresses) or they go straight into the cash register. I tipped one of the waitresses not because of the food but for the good service, but when I tipped the waitress, it went straight into the cash register.

This place is our go to, and it should be yours if you’re in the area! The staff are wonderful, the chefs are faultless and the food is amazing! The prices are fair and if you’re kids are good they might just get a lolly when you pay 🍭 I have been going here for as many years as I can remember, and I’ve never had anything less than a perfect experience. Get yourself down there, you can thank me later.

Waiting for one of my favourite pubs to open I decided to line my stomach. I choose here as it was busy which is always a good sign. The menu is offers the usual all day breakfasts, burgers, omelettes, salads, sandwiches etc… but also liver and bacon and pies. I opted for a king size burger and chips and a milky coffee. The coffee was excellent great temperature and creamy as whole milk is used. My meal also was excellent nice crispy chips, excellent fresh side salad and nice flavoursome burger. As I said at the beginning the place was very busy and I can see why, fast friendly and efficient service and quality food at good prices. Excellent.

I stayed in Faversham for 3 days and didn't bother going anywhere else for my breakfast and lunch because I was more than happy with the food, price and friendly service. I was lucky with the weather and enjoyed sitting in the courtyard to the rear of the cafe. The staff were happy to accommodate my food intolerance.

Went for brunch on a Sunday lunchtime. Between us we ordered a burger meal , lasagne and two teas. The drinks and food were brought over to us quickly and both food and drink hit the spot. The facilities were clean and the price was pleasing. Will call in again when I’m next in the neighbourhood.

No covid protection no masks on waitresses who get in ur face when serving food, floor was disgusting. Food ok .would not go ther again due to hygiene

I dont know about you but for me a meal out is made if the customer service is outstanding. Breakfast here is very nice but our visit was outstanding becasuse of our waitress Monica. She was so nice, really looked after us. I hope her employer knows how fantastic she is. We will be back and have already checked when she will be on duty. Thanks for making our breakfast extra special!!!!

Cycled over to Faversham. Beautiful morning and arrived hungry. Found this cafe and had a lovely spanish omlette and coffee. Very nice staff. Very efficient table service. The food was fresh and tasty. There are cycle racks opposite so you can lock your bike and keep an eye on it! I will be back for sure. Thanks

If you want a good english breakfast, this place is good value and serves large portions. I enjoyed set meal 1, with egg, bacon, mushrooms, sausage, hash browns toast and beans snd would recommend it to anyone.

I called in for lunch today ...an all day breakfast. My order was politely taken and the food well cooked and quickly prepared. It came with toast and a lovely cup of coffee. A lovely and popular place to eat.

Other half and I popped in for breakfast on sunday morning as my stepson was getting ready in the nearby Alexandria centre for the SEPW wrestling event. We managed to get seated no problem. Their menu had loads to choose from and we didnt have to wait long for our food which was fresh hot and filled our plates up the coffee was the best iv had in a while for choice value for money and good service I would recommend visiting here.

After the hop festival went here for the English breakfast and coffee fuelling up for the day for our long drive ahead....it was cooked perfectly with good ingredients...we all thoroughly enjoyed our breaky. Would definitely recommend...very good value for money!

Return visit to this lovely Cafe. I chose Roast Lamb and my other half chose chilli & cheese jacket potato. Despite being incredibly busy due to the Hop Festival being on the food was absolutely perfect. We will return.

Still our regular. Meeting place for a coffee. Good coffee. We often have food. Apart from the part pre cooked bacon. The breakfasts are good. A decent amount at a fair price. A nice family business.

My first visit to this cafe on Sunday morning for breakfast with my son and grandchildren .Sunny day so we were able to sit outside in delightful courtyard.Best of all was the standard of the brekkie.The staff were all smiley, friendly and chatty. Will most definitely visit again when in the area .

I used to frequent this cafe but realised that years of loyalty supporting a local business doesn't pay off, in this case. Apart from having to pay twice for coffee where it is included in the meal price, my veggie breakfast had bits of meat in it. The response?? "Don't come back" is what she said. So I won't. You'd do well to do the same.

We eat here regular and nine times out of ten opt for one of the full english breakfasts (including vegetarian) - served all day. The staff are always welcoming and the food always good. The breakfasts fill you up for the day and are very reasonably priced. There is an extensive menu and the food is cooked pretty much in front of you. It gets busy (for good reason) so sometimes you wait a little longer, however it is still amazingly quick considering the number of customers.

Visited the Moonlight for an early breakfast and I was completely spoilt for choice! Really friendly staff, a warm welcome and excellent coffee... wonderful. Thank you very much for a great experience.

There is a good variety foods and drinks to choose from. There is a very good vegetarian mix so that everyone can eat there. Fabulous service as well. Makes me want to go back more and more.

it was the worst food i ever ate it was like eating horse poo. the staff was bad they all were horrible. the location is bad.i absolutely hated the people and the food.

I have reviewed this place before so I am letting my 7 year old daughter dictate part of the review for me on this occasion:

Husband recommended here as he is a lorry driver & has popped in here on a few occasions for there breakfast baguette which he says is so good & at a great price too. So we came on Sunday morning & it was packed & was lucky enough to get a table. Ordered two breakfasts & coffees which were brought to our table quite quickly, waitress was really friendly. Food was hot & tasted great, especially the bacon, totally full afterwards. Husbands bubble was really nice & wished I ordered that as well. Will definitely be going back to sample more of their quite extensive menu which is also at a very good price. Now my top choice place to eat when visiting Faversham.

Wanting a full English in Faversham on a Sunday morning before starting a walk and not knowing the area, I checked Tripadvisor and The Moonlight Café seemed to be what we were looking for. We arrived at 10am to an already busy café, everyone appeared cheery and mostly local. Service was speedy, large portions, good value and tables etc clean....what more can you ask for? My only minor niggle would be the smell of the paraffin heater in the conservatory seating area but luckily we were able to sit in the main café.

Visited here for lunch on a dull day. The menu offered great choice and reasonable prices.

I called in yesterday for an all day lunch breakfast at this central and tidy cafe. The order was taken by a chatty and happy lady and the meal was plentiful and well cooked. The accompanying coffee was tasty too. Well done

I eat my lunch here everyday, the service is amazing and the staff are very welcoming and can have a laugh, the food is made really well and tastes amazing, personally i think it is the best cafe in Faversham when regarding price, customer service and quality of food, would definitely recommend eating here!

Just had a great coffee and a very tasty lunch in Moonlight. Service was very good as was the whole staff on today. Little gem of a place and not expensive, saw people eating massive breakfast plates and checked the price, bargain !!!

My daughter and I visited Moonlight Cafe for lunch after a big swim.

I was recommended to visit this place by friends. We went in on a very busy Saturday , we had a choice of tables either inside in the conservatory or the large garden. Having sat in the conservatory taking up 2 tables we was greeted by the Rachael who took our drinks order. We were lucky enough to be able to use a babys chair for our grand daughter. Our drinks were with us promptly and our food order was taken. There is a good choice of food and were able to change items on the set breakies. The cafe was really buzzing full of atmosphere. There was 3 waitress's serving and working well as a team to get the food to the tables very quickly, the chefs really did the cafe proud as the wait for the food was not long at all. We found Rachael and Sadie one of the other waitress's very helpful and cheerful

This little gem of a cafe is always busy, the quality of the food is excellent and the reakfasts are superb. Have visited on three occasions at different times of the day and the food quality and service does not alter.

Very pleasant place. Tasty, good, efficient service and reasonable prices. Good pit stop in the unique town of Faversham. The homemade cakes looked delicious, but we couldn’t quite manage to shovel anything more down!

I called in sgsin today for a mid morning all day breakfast meal which arrived nicely presented and well cooked. Staff polite and the price was competitive.

Came here for lunch after seeing great reviews. Large portions for all four of us, left very full! Not greasy like some cafes. Chips lovely and crispy. Main meals £5-7 which is very good value particularly considering portion sizes. Recommend the milkshakes, lovely, thick and icy cold.

I used to love this cafe in till a recent visit.

My wife had the all day breakfast which she deemed 'lovely'. Being on a diet, I opted for the salad and was very pleasantly surprised. A Mediterranean salad made a nice change from the normal run of the mill. I think next time I shall have to go for the kippers. Very pleasant staff. and plenty of room for a wheelchair.

My partner and I eat here quite often and have never been disappointed, with the both of us being vegan, and I having a hatred of baked beans, we sometimes struggle to find a good cooked breakfast. However, after reading the menu we asked the waitress for the vegetarian breakfast with a number of things removed and added on, which she was more than to happy to do for us! When the food arrived everything looked, smelt and tasted amazing! And after usually being offered something along the lines of a salad it was lovely to visit somewhere and actually leave feeling full and nourished! Definitely a new favourite of ours within the town! and perfect for a hungover breakfast!

Kippers toast and tomatoes, cooked to perfection, tasty and good service, lovely garden at back, nice coffee, enjoyable and relaxed visit. I shall return to try lunch.

Found this cafe on recent day trip to Faversham sat in the peaceful garden enjoying a lovely coffee staff were very nice even though my wife had to dig down her handbag to find enough change to pay as cafe didn’t accept card payment

Plain and simply if you are looking for a filling well cooked meal when in Faversham, go here..all the meals looked and smelt delicious but we can only speak for the breakfast menu.

There are quite a few cafes in Faversham and I walked around looking at all of them before settling on Moonlight. Huge choice of breakfasts, friendly staff and all food cooked to order made this a good choice. I'm sure the rest of the food during the day will be as good as my breakfast!

My fave cafe in town. Came here for an all day breakfast ...quickly served, proper sausages, fresh tomatoes and well cooked. The cafe could do with being a bit bigger as it is clearly popular with the locals, but it is a smart and tidy place to eat. Highly recommended ....as per my last visit.

Great cafe. Good range of typical cafe food. Not expensive. Ok it is not fine dining but does not pretend to be. Really good coffee. Nice garden out the back with friendly sparrows waiting for the crumbs. Lovely friendly staff. A credit to Faversham. Always kind to kids and offer them a lollipop at the end.

Always handy having this place in town if you don't want to cook breakfast. They have a good selection on their menu and the restaurant is nice and clean. Its lovely sitting in the garden when the weather is good.

Great value breakfast - £16 for the three of us, inc drinks. Very generous portions. Friendly and helpful staff. Café is very clean and tables cleared and cleaned as soon as you go up to pay at the counter. Must be good as it was packed at 10.00 on Sunday morning when we called in.

Yes, it looks like any other high street cafe but I had had a busy day and needed fed. I didn't have long to wait for the generous plate full of scampi and chips I had ordered. However, everything was tasteless and disappointing.

Great place for a coffee or a milkshake( best milkshakes in Faversham) I have been visiting this place for a number of years now and the staff are always friendly and polite. The food is basic but good value for money and its clean and tidy. They do allow smoking in the garden area at the the back of the restaurant so unless you want your meal spoiled by someones smoke avoid this area. Other then that its great

This is a well established cafe in the centre of the town. It serves value for money food and drink. Always the same standard. The cafe is open during most trading hours inc Sunday's. It's a friendly family run business. The only criticism is the cutlery is left on the tables. And the cooking ventilation system is poor. So in some situations and seating positions the smell of cooking meats etc is off putting When eating. Generally it's a nice well run cafe worth a visit.

I can't thank the family that run this wonderful cafe and their staff enough for providing my 12 year old daughter and 8 friends with a truly amazing birthday lunch experience yesterday. The kids had a complete ball and thoroughly enjoyed being trusted to behave like proper little adults. Thank you.

This cafe is very good at what it sets out to offer. Fry-ups in various guises, reasonably priced in clean surroundings. There is even a sweet little garden with several tables. Much enjoyed by locals. In Preston Street. Good for everyone including families. Even your dog if you enter through the garden gate and eat out there!

First time visit. Waited a while and food wasn't very good.and quality wasn't good. I thought it was expensive compared to other cafe in the area.

When we are in Faversham we will only use this cafe. The prices for food and drinks are very reasonable with perfectly cooked food. The staff are always polite and helpful and having been in there many many times they are never pushy or glum looking like many off Favershams cafes. I have always been able to sit where you like unlike some of the other cafes in Faversham who won't let single people or couples sit at a table for four. So I will continue to use this excellent cafe where we have never been asked to move tables.They deserve 10 stars. Keep up the good work Moonlight cafe.

The staff were so off-putting on our latest visit, that we ended up leaving without ordering food. We ended up going to a chain business next door. We were asked 6 times if we were ready to order... very excessive and felt pressured. The staff were also miserable and looked like they wished they weren't there.We have eaten here many times before and since the make over, I feel it has become too expensive for what they offer. £1 for a hash brown and £1.20 for one sausage is quite expensive considering the quality and toast was a rip off considering they could buy two loaves from the supermarket for the price they charge for a slice or two.

I have eaten here a few times and recently had a mozzerella, tomato and pesto panini which was delicious plus a salad and coffee. Lovely coffee and we usually sit out the back in good weather in the pretty court yard garden. Great service and such friendly staff. The only draw back was my husband's baguette lacked some salad and was a bit on the small side but overall - a great little cafe that I will return to many times I'm sure being a local. Highly recommended.

I have chosen to eat at the Moonlight for many years, it's recent refit has enhanced the decor, thankfully the staff are just as welcoming & the food remains consistantly well presented & delivered timely. It is reasonably priced & the enough variety to suit all tastes.

No frills good food and reasonably priced restaurant. Best omelette I've ever had. You can see the cooking area and its spotlessly clean. Fast service good food and very reasonably priced. Not pretentious at all.

Excellent value. Friendly (owners who) staff who take pride in what they do. Tuna salad plate had a huge mound of tuna mayo, cucumber, olives, tomatoes, sliced egg, lettuce, coleslaw (it looked beautiful). All food freshly prepared or cooked. Heartily recommend

Lovely place, all be it a little snug. Nice range of food to fit all budgets and tastes. Sit inside or out, both very pleasant. Do try the speciality teas yummmmm

You will never cook a full English breakfast again after eating here, all freshly cooked with a lovely mug or two of tea. Very good service in a very clean cafe at reasonable prices.

Having had a disappointing fry up at a Folkestone campsite cafe the Moonlight has shown how it should be done - a few choices of full English and inclusive of a latte 5 pounds 60. Polite friendly staff.

I had shepherds pie and my wife had vegetarian lasagne with spinach both made on the premises. We had big portions which we couldn't quite finish. Highly recommended.

Revisited after the refit. Unfortunately. The toilets are still poor. ladies sink leaking onto floor. if the gents door opens the ladies look directly to the gents urinal. The cutlery is still left on the tables for everyone to touch if having only tea or coffee. It's unhygienic. It still needs improvements. The lighting is much better. The food is average. The table layout is poor as often there is no seating and many tables for four. Have only one occupant. Shame. Implement the improvements and be the best cafe in town.! Take note of the reviews.

The moonlight has been serving food for years and if you fancy a fry up and a cup of tea or coffee you will not be disappointed. The staff are always friendly. This is not fine dinning but you know what to expect and it ticks all the box's on that level.

This café is next to a Witherspoons pub and in a central location. It is narrow and galley-style in design, with a conservatory attached to the rear and a garden with chairs behind that. There are 14 tables in the café and well-spaced. On the walls are a variety of different prints. I chose an all-day breakfast (6 to choose from) from a laminated menu which laid out a wide variety of meals from which to select. There were menus on each tables and the café was clean and there were waitresses in attendance. My meal was served quickly, the tomatoes were fresh, the sausage had meat in them (and herbs), the mushrooms were decent, the toast was thick and the bubble and squeak was colourful and plentiful. It came with a lovely coffee and all for a fiver. I even had a polite, smiling and pretty waitress albeit wearing bovver boots!!!! My late was large and the meal covered it. The cost for the meal was cheap and as a regular eater of all-day breakfasts I can say that this has, to date been one of the best. Well done.

Visited here on a Sunday morning with a friend. It was busy but not over run, a good mix of clientele too with families, young & old as well as smaller groups and those just out for a coffee and a read of the paper.The menu has a lot of choice and for roughly £5 you can have a fantastic, well cooked, full English breakfast or something far more healthy. Portions were good and everything was really well cooked.

As my title says, this is easily the best place for a breakfast in Faversham. Does what it says on the tin. Cooked well, is served quickly, service lovely (and they remember you which is a massive plus) child & family friendly, with room to eat outside too. We always manage to get a breakfast for two and a drink for around a tenner so you can't really fault it. They also do cakes and ice creams which are lovely. Eaten here once for a lunch and that too was very nice. Nice to have a good, honest place to get a proper breakfast on the weekend :-)

Very good breakfast. I had No 1 which was very well cooked, nice sausage and bacon with a runny egg. Nice tasting beans and the tomato was also cooked well. Could be improved by using uncut crusty bread. A small detail but small details make a big difference.

We come here almost every weekend for an omlette and chips brunch. They do table service which is very efficient, food is all well cooked to order, and the portion sizes are huge. The prices are good and the staff are friendly. My only minor criticism is that there isn't much space in there, however in the summer you can sit in the lovely little courtyard garden.

Been here several times before, and has always been good. Today was awful. Our order was taken quickly, and drinks arrived soon after but we had to wait well over 40 mins for our breakfast to turn up, which wasn't very hot at all. Will not be using this place again.

I popped in for lunch with my parents. Sadly the weather wasn't nice enough to use the courtyard garden (a great spot in good weather) but the inside is clean and not so jammed full of tables that you feel uncomfortable unlike some places in Faversham.My parents had sandwiches, my wife had an omelette, and I went for an halloumi baguette. All seemed quite happy with the food - it's not particularly special, but a notch or two above average café food, and the coffee was very good.Service was brisk and efficient, and friendly enough. The staff were certainly working hard.Prices were very reasonable.
