This is the second roast dinner my family have had here. They staff were extremely accommodating to my little 8 month old baby, with suitable utensils at the ready for us. They were friendly and interacted with him too, which put him in a very happy mood! The food was brilliant, and a great size portion! The level of organisation amongst staff was great, they communicate well between each other and see to any requests promptly. We have had two very lovely trips out to the moon! Thank you

Friendly and welcoming place excellent staff who looked after you well,even a great experience in wheelchair, the food was very well cooked and presented and portions were all on the large side . On leaving you knew you had had a proper meal and were not wanting anymore. Will definitely be returning

After a long walk from local campsite. Was lovely break . Lovely atmosphere and drinks choice brill. Menu looked lovely too. However check serving times. Garden area and parking. Also looked like had own campsite. Staff polite and helpful. Dog friendly.

Cracking Sunday Lunch (and Gluten Free too!). We arrived at the Moon Inn to complete the Dragon Trail (which is much more substantial than I expected). After a great walk, we were all hunger (4 adults, a baby and a dog). After initially entering the pub and asking if there was a spare table, we got shown to the terrace around the back. It was a nice covered over area offering protection from the wind. Apart from a few grumpy locals (?), we settled right in and were welcomed by our host for the meal. She offered immediate responses when I asked about Gluten Free that reassured me I could have all the gravy with the Sunday dinner, everything on my plate INCLUDING a Yorkshire pudding. It's the first time in 2 years, I have come across this. We ordered some drinks, got the little one settled in a highchair and the dog a bowl of water and everyone was instantly more relaxed and amazed at the available food options. We even discussed the board labelled 'probably' the best Sunday Lunch in Herefordshire. Safe to say when it arrived, it surpassed all expectations. Two gents had the ultimate with all the meat, one special and one gluten free turkey that came with a GF yorkshire pudding and gravy! The veg then came out separately and I even got my own separate Gluten Free cheesy leeks. We didn't even know we needed cheesy leeks in our lives! Everyone was so impressed that even our full bellies tempted us for dessert. The portion sizes were commendable. The cheesecake described as fluffy like clouds, an incredible sticky toffee pudding, a lovely GF chocolate and black forest brownie and one banoffee pie later, we were full to the brim and ready for a nap. What started off as a slightly concerned visit that there wouldn't be any Gluten free meals or tables available soon turned out to be an incredible meal that surpassed all expectations and made everyone's day. Some great ciders and friendly service all added to the experience. A hidden gem that we just happened to stumble across - thanks to the Moon!

The landlord the landlady and all the staff at this establishment are a well oiled machine. Happy smiling faces from everyone whilst running a very efficient operation. All the food was excellent from start to finish and they even fitted us in without a booking which was really good of them considering we arrived at a busy period. They have a caravan/motorhome field at the back of the inn and the landlord allowed us to park there in our motorhome out of the way so we could go in and get a meal. We recommend this place to singles couples and families alike. Lovely outside area with parasols too. The best pub food and service we have had for years. Thanks again the motorhome couple.

Went here for Sunday lunch as we had heard it was good. We were not disappointed. We both had the roast. Enormous helpings ( My wife had to have a doggy bag) beautifully cooked meat, moist and tender. I had the 3 meat option - beef, turkey and pork, with a huge Yorkshire pudding. A good selection of vegetables, all piping hot. Although we were full really we could not resist the desserts menu, I had the apple and cherry crumble, my wife had the chocolate Black Forest brownie. Delicious and all served with a smile by the lovely friendly waiting staff.

We hadn’t been here for years and wanted to try it again. We were so well looked after. I phoned ahead to book a table and it was ready for us when we arrived. We sat outside in the new covered terrace. It was so nice. Children’s menu had plenty of choice and was a decent portion. Main menu had a good selection and no-one had any difficulty finding something they liked. Food was hot and super tasty. It was delicious. We will definitely be returning.

Came across this restaurant by accident. When we went inside the restaurant was crowded with people playin cards. The atmosphere was great, We had a really good meal and would return.

Went to celebrate a birthday, we had heard good reports so we thought we would give The Moon a try. Staff were welcoming and friendly. Food was disappointing, my pie of the day was all pastry, 5 pieces of tough beef with a strange flavourless jelly gravy. The other meals were average. Not worth the money!

A family celebration evening, pre-booked table for evening meal. I have to say, we had one of the most enjoyable evening meals - the food was very very good and I would have no hesitation recommending the Moon for an evening meal. When we go out with friends as a group we normally enjoy the whole evening and that usually includes a couple of pints each. I had not read the recent review that noted relatively high drink prices (relatively compared to other local venues) which, for us, would be prohibitive for an evening. (Hence 4 stars)- which is still ‘very good’! We will return to the Moon for celebration and special event meals.

My wife and I had a nice evening in the beer garden, and the staff were friendly and efficient. We both had a steak sandwich, which was ok and reasonable value at £13.95. I was shocked when I saw my bill , a pint of Timothy Taylor's at £5 a pint, 1/2 Stowfords £2.55. First time I've paid £5 for a pint of beer in a pub, especially in Herefordshire.

We drove past not thinking it looked very nice, then one night we stopped and had one of the best meals all week, the lemon pepper salmon salad was delicious, the salmon was cooked perfectly, my husband had sea bream on a bed of fresh vegetables, the staff were friendly and polite. Try it you really won’t be disappointed!

We were visiting the area and nipped out for dinner, the food in this place was really good, both the quality and quantity was perfect, the staff were friendly and very helpful, the service was good and we were not hassled for time, I can't recommend this place enough, If I get the opportunity to visit this area again, this would be my preferred evening out. Nice people but the vegetarian food is dreadful. Basically a baguette, chilli or a pie made of the same stuff in the baguette and chilli. Massive choice for meat eaters. If you are vege don’t bother.

With all the current restrictions & limitations all the staff make a visit here as near normal as possible. The food, atmosphere, service are all excellent (as usual) and demonstrate how life can carry on as normal in these strange and difficult times. We have visited The Moon twice in the last few weeks having camped at Lucksall. The pub has everything in place to keep staff and customers safe with brilliant entry/exit system, staff wearing masks/visors, table service for drinks/food and you are also made to feel very welcome. Although we didn't eat, every plate of food brought out looked delicious and comments from those eating were very positive. The staff do not stop, working tirelessly to ensure everyone is served even the landlady sanitising the toilets after every use and the benches in the garden being sanitised every time people leave by the staff. What a brilliant job they are doing! The pub garden is very pleasant to sit in in the sunshine and the staff are very friendly and tentative to your needs they are all doing an excellent job with excellent service, thank you. We will be back!

We turned up to be greeted by an almost full car park on a Thursday night. A reservation had been made in the bar for four people. We understood there was a strict entry /exit system due to covid 19. This has been managed extremely efficiently throughout. Karen is always cheerful and friendly and must be under a huge amount of stress at the moment as the land lady -to ensure every goes effortlessly and with efficiency to keep her staff and customers safe. It is important to keep supporting village pubs otherwise they will close and livelihoods will be affected immensely. The food selection on menu was varied and we were pleased with our choices. It was great to catch up safely with some friends over a lovely meal&drinks. All of the staff were caring and extremely diligent in observing distancing whilst serving the food and all were wearing masks to protect their customers and themselves.

First time out as a family since the lockdown, not sure what to expect, the landlord & staff have it well set up for dealing with this terrible covid19, we all decided to have the sunday lunch,we were served with a large plate stacked high with meat, yorkshire,&roast potatoes, 2 large dishes of mixed veg,2 dishes of cauliflower cheese,after we gourged ourselves on this wonderful food we had no room for puddings, it is all very reasonably priced, probably the best sunday lunch for a long time.Congratulations to the landlord & all the staff for all your efforts in these difficult times.Many thanks Derek Hughes & family

We had a meal this week at the Moon Inn and both cant stop singing it's praises! It was brilliant. the staff were friendly and helpful, the restaurant is clean and the food is superb. The pie of the day was Chicken and Chorizo which I had. It was perfect. My wife had the Pork Belly and loved it. I would highly recommend a visit to this brilliant pub!

Had a meal yesterday, food was awful, my 8 year old has cooked better, they have posters regarding social distancing but in reality there was no distancing on one occasion I had to tell a customer to move back as he practically was sitting in my food, they are not doing anything to win back customers.

Came out for food today. All staff were smiley friendly and polite throughout. Even though it was busy a young lad still found the time to continually check up on us and make sure we were all okay. The food was prompt and the quality was fantastic. The deserts menu was generous too with variety and yet again quality. Definitely worth a visit. Thanks to all staff :)

We were staying at nearby Lucksall Park campsite and walked here for a drink on the first night.Lovely beer garden and friendly staff. We came back for a meal. The menu was limited due to trying to be covid secure in a small pub but both our dishes were delicious and obviously home cooked. Definitely worth a visit.

We ate out here tonight for my husband’s birthday. We felt so safe and looked after. They certainly are taking COVID dining seriously, but still made it feel normal. We felt so welcome and the food was fantastic. To quote my husband’s best mate Neil Jones, “this belly pork crackling - the chef has got the hang of that “. Wow. What an amazing find, lovely staff showed us to our table in the sunny garden. Corvid didn’t faze us as it was really warm outside and the venue had done everything possible to ensure patrons were safe. I had the steak, a little overcooked for my liking but otherwise beautiful, partner had the pork belly and black pudding. Both huge potions and we left stuffed to the brim. Without doubt very worthy of the 5 star review and a place not to be missed if I’m the area again.

Tried the pork with apple and stuffing pie. The short crust pastry was very ordinary and the filling seemed as though it consisted of the sunday roast leftovers. My partner's battered fish was greasy, peas were shrivelled and the chips may have been reheated as they didn't taste or appear freshly done. This was a different experience from my last visit when I found that the sandwiches ordered were very good. Beer and Cider were in good condition and the pub is friendly. Will try them again..could have been an 'off day'.

Very welcoming staff who took good care of us without overly fussing. Menu is great and well above standard pub fare but is in no way pretentious. All 4 of us had baked Camembert for starters - it was delicious and we all polished it off with ease.2 of us had the belly pork which was fabulous and served with some tasty and nicely cooked black pudding. 1 had the fisherman’s net which was packed full of delicious fish treats. 1 had beer battered cod which was huge - all the portions were generous and very reasonably priced. To finish two of us had the Bread and Butter Pudding which was so tasty and reminiscent of childhood days eating a homemade treat.Highly recommended to anyone who appreciates nicely cooked food in a friendly atmosphere. We will return

What a warm welcome we had on arrival with a glass of Champers and a Christmas card each from the staff ! Alan & Karen put us straight at ease and allowed us to sit by the fire and relax with our drinks before ordering our starter which arrived with no delay, the whole meal was delicious ( starter main sweet followed by coffee & home made mince pies). The whole experience was most enjoyable and considering a Christmas Day service it was most reasonable priced. We have eaten here on previous occasions and have never been disappointed !

As an ex-pat Brit that has been loving in north america for the past decade, coming back to the UK for a cask ale is a massive treat. The Timothy Taylor at the Moon is the best pint I have ever had since coming back. Not only is that the best beer in the country but the atmosphere is fantastic! Try the pickled egg, Worcestershire sauce and cheese and onion crisps local delicacy, you wont be disappointed but you may be less healthy than when you walked in. Pie and and a pint on Wednesday is another way to thoroughly enjoy the area, while destroying your waistline.

This is the second year we have booked a Christmas Lunch at the Moon for our walking club. We park at the Moon car park then after a two hour walk we clean up ready for a very good lunch. As many courses as you want picked and booked a few weeks before.We had 13 people in the group and all enjoyed the lunch, the table was laid out in Christmas style with crackers and complementary drinks.

Rural location with a good sized car park. Nicely renovated in a rustic style with separate bar and dining areas.Several real ales offered, the food menu has a good range of choices with many traditional favourites and a few other interesting dishes. Our food was nicely presented, very well cooked and delicious, with generous portions. Service was excellent, both friendly and efficient. Prices are very good everything taken into account.

My friend & I had booked a lunch at a cafe in Hereford today, 30/11/19. As my friend had gone to town earlier for shopping, she alerted me to the fact that it was Black Friday weekend & the town & carparks were packed. She suggested we go to the Moon at Mordiford, which was only 5 minutes drive from my home, & on an easy route back to her's on the opposite side of town. I booked our table with only an hour ahead of time, but we were in luck. We arrived ahead of the rush. I had the soup of the day as a starter--broccoli & ginger, with a lovely granary roll. We both chose the battered cod as a main. I avoided getting the yummy looking chips which my friend chose. I had the healthy option of a delicious salad & we each had a small pot of mushy peas. We were too full for dessert, but I did order a nice espresso to finish off. It was the best change of plan we could have made. Maybe try the town cafe in the summer
