One of the worst pubs I've ever been in

Pleasant atmosphere service very good landlord and a young lady working well together quick and polite

Owners to be aware of bouncer. Pub half empty on a Saturday and refusing people entering and acting like the place was full. Not just us but multiple people. Surely a business cannot be sustainable like this!

Visited on a Wednesday night and decided to have the 2 courses offer. Got to say was really impressed with the steak, the cut, and how it was cooked to how I asked. Will be going again

On my only trip in there was full of bald bearded van driving types all mouthy loud and swearing, ok if your one of those types. Beer choice was poor.

If you are after a friendly pint in good company then this is the pub. Great for sport really good atmosphere and fast service. Probably the best landlord in the area he will do everything he can to help you time be enjoyable.

Great town pub, usually busy. You get sport on TVs during the big events. Regular live gigs. Big outside area for fresh air/smokers. Prices are very reasonable, rather go here than weatherspoons.

Best pub in Ross (also the cheapest!)

Years ago The Eagle was a bit on the rough side but now it's smart, clean and modern. Drinks are very reasonably priced, there's a large outdoor area out the back and the staff (and cat) are friendly.

Lovely staff food is excellent good draught beers lager cider, food a bit slow to come but its cooked from fresh so it's understandable and worth waiting for

This pub has been taken over, so no longer serves food! Very disappointed. The landlord friendly, he a told us where to go for Sunday lunch.

Dog friendly pub. Reasonable drinks prices. Friendly atmosphere. Haven't tried the food...yet, but I will.

I live in Southern California. In 1988 I was traveling by car with a friend all over the UK. We were in the area, it was getting late, and I saw a sign that said Ross-on-Wye, and since my last name is Ross I wanted to check it out. We walked into the Eagle Inn, and I told the lady my last name, and we were needing a place to stay for the night. She told me to sit down, she got on the phone and said she had one of the Ross boys here and he needed a room. She set us up at the Eddie Cross house up the hill. She brought us a couple of pints of some tasty ale, and that she would "shout us up when it's ready". I had no idea what she was talking about. A little while later she had us eat a huge, killer roast beef dinner with her family in their kitchen. It was great, and unexpected. She gave me a place mat to give to my dad from the pub. A great experience that I won't forget, and her amazing kindness that I will appreciate always.

Best pint my husband has had! And reasonably priced! Very wecoming staff.

A decent pub with very good prices for bitter. My only objection was the huge number of TV screens showing premiership games. If you're a football fan and can afford £2.10 for a pint of bitter then you can't go wrong with the Eagle.

We went into this pub for a quiet drink with our beagle. Our beagle was attacked by a nasty cat our dog did not retaliate as she was on a lead and under control as dogs should be when in a pub. We walked out to find our dogs face was bleeding from cat scratches. What is the point of having an aggressive cat roaming around a pub that is supposed to be dog friendly. We will never go in this pub again

Horrid experience we went in for a quiet drink with our lovely beagle which was on a lead under control and she was attacked by a nasty cat twice! our beagle backed off and we walked out. Outside we realised our beagles face was bleeding from the scratches the cat had inflicted. We will never go to this pub again. What is the point of having a dog friendly pub if the resident cat is vicious. It should not be roaming around the pub out of control. A dog would not be allowed to behave that way. Truly horrendous.

Popped in for a drink. Very friendly and excellent staff. Decided to stay to watch Premier League match with a second drink and saw customer bringing in fish and chips from next door chippy. As pub doesn't do food it is accepted that you can bring in own food, take-away etc. so we did. Enjoyed match as our team won! On leaving the very polite and friendly landlord took time to thank us for visiting and custom. Very much appreciated. If we visit Ross-on-Wye would certainly pop in for a drink. BTW chippy next door ecellent.

Spent Saturday afternoon and evening here to alow other people in our party to watch a rugby match. There was a nice outside patio area, with plenty of chairs and tables. The singer was very good with a large selection of brilliant songs

Superb Doombar on draught. Tastes fresher than same beer in Wetherspoons. Attentive bar staff, no hanging about. Very competitive prices. Live footie on the telly.

On a two night visit to Ross. Visited this pub on the first night to watch football and we also had a few games of pool. Helpful member of bar staff when there was a problem with the pool table. Friendly atmosphere and good range of drinks at reasonable prices.

Only giving a 2 star because ordered mixed grill and steak tasted funny so never ate it .i ordered chicken bbq melt in baguette had no bacon in it .im not usually into complaining but all we got was a sorry

Brilliant atmosphere, very happy staff. It was mine and my wife's first time in there on Saturday, we will be coming back again and the drinks are very reasonably priced.

Called here for a drink whilst staying in Ross and it was a spotlesley clean place and very welcoming .

Took my brother for a night out and was shocked. The landlord invited us in. Within an hour we were offered a buffet of.drugs. look out for Joe, he can sort you out. If you say no then it is like a riot outside

I have to admit I was sceptical about visiting this pub as it looked like a real ‘serious drinkers’ pub, but I have to admit I was very mistaken! We were looking for somewhere to watch the football whilst on holiday near Ross-on-Wye that was also dog friendly. I’m so glad we chose this pub, the staff were so friendly and the owner was very polite and on hand to keep noisy football revellers under control. The staff asked if the dog wanted some water when we order our drinks, which by the way were VERY cheap! Wish we could’ve stayed longer but we had the dog and they were gearing up for a band to arrive, we were gutted to leave. Had a great afternoon in a very welcoming pub with lovely friendly people. See you next year!

I wouldn’t normally write reviews but the staff and landlord in particular have been so welcoming and friendly. I felt a review was only fair! Extremely efficient service no wait time at-all for drinks and most of all the biggest shock service with a smile!

Changed my opinion after my last visit. Unhelpful and unfriendly. Offered to let us stand out the back in the rain, no thanks. Fortunately we found the The Drop Inn, proper pub, proper prices and they welcome your trade. Less than £4.00 a pint and happy to let you bring food in.

Lovely boozer. We were made to feel welcome from just walking through the door. They didn't mind the dog either. Other pubs locally seemed a bit touristy but the Eagle felt like a real pub. Felt like a home from home!! Cheap cider too!!

Good landlord and good staff, and service, sports channels on large TV's, not so good screens out side, over 18 only, good drink selection, clean and tidy.

Traditional pub with a good atmos, friendly service and well-kept beers. There's a lovely courtyard too. Just reopened under covid tier change and they are clearly following hygiene and other rules. Overall, nice and clean and a pleasant place to be.

Great pub. The locals are a hoot! Walked in and was greeted by a comment' Bloody tourists in again! '. Really cheap alcohol £5.25 for a point of bitter and a large Point!

My first pub visit since lockdown, went to watch champions league final. Friendly welcome from landlord, excellent covid restrictions in place, felt safe and clean

Excellent landlord who cooks a mean steak at very reasonable price for the high quality of the food. Very friendly staff and fabulous beer garden kept immaculately by the landlady.

Cheap drinks but one of the regulars was rude to me when I accidently bumped into him. Not very welcoming if you're not a regular customer.
