Swan inn in Herefordshire, County of

Came here with my partner for dinner a few weekends ago. Both had steak which was perfectly cooked and the chips were amazing. Service was really nice too, great spot for dinner!

Excellent meal & service. Steak was cooked perfectly & the beef stew was superb. Will definitely revisit & recommend to family/friends looking for great quality food

Amazing surprise visiting here. Makes a change to find an independent pub. The menu was very good and the quality of the food was exceptional. Add to that the excellent service made our visit one of the best for a long time. Will be visiting again soon.

I really hate to do this as I never do reviews. Was looking forward to good homemade food. I ordered cottage pie and fresh vegetables. I have never eaten a cottage pie like it. No minced beef, onion or gravy, just some pinky grey mush with sweetcorn in it and it was greasy. I finally realised the weird taste was corned beef. !!!!

Had a meal here last Wednesday. Service first class , food excellent value and quality .

Very impressed how this pub now looks and feels. We had the two course lunch which had plenty of options. Excellent succulent Hunters' Chicken with crispy chips. The gammon was good too and not dried out at all. The staff are friendly and attentive. We will definitely return!

Let me start by saying the staff are lovely, and so was the beef and gravy. However that's where it ends. I was taken there for Mothers day 25, yesterday. We were put on a table next to the kitchen door and in the way of the queue for the food, didn't work for 3. My daughter needed to ask somebody to move so she could sit down with here food. The food was poor, there was enough of it but all the vegetables were cooked to a millimetre of their lives and were full of water, the potato's were average. I asked for the dessert list as it was offered free for Mothers Day and was told it was a tray bake which was not on the dessert list. This is not want I wanted as I can do that at home, and this was not stated on the advertising that it was a specific dessert. My daughter was very disappointed as she wanted me to have a nice meal. We did go there a bit before Christmas for a Sunday lunch and it was not that good then but we hoped it would have improved. Sorry to say it is not for us and we will not be going there again.

Come on Saturday in A Group Of 12 Amazing Atmosphere Food Was Delicious I Had The Burger and It Was Amazing. Staff Very Friendly and Gave an Amazing Vibe Nothing Was To Much Trouble and All Members Of Staff Willing To Join In A Bit Of Fun Thanks For A Fab Evening We Will Be Back 😊

Had a meal there tonight staff great food nothing like it used to be ,chicken was so dry couldn't even swallow it ,the steak was tasteless, and not much food on the plate for the price ,very disappointed thought it was going to be much better, for that price could of gone to miller and carter for nearly the same sort of money.

Fantastic place would definitely recommend it we were made very welcome booked in for 5 night's for dinner while on a fishing holiday

We went last night for dinner and we were absolutely wowed. Food was quick and delicious, staff were incredible - Liam especially took great care of us but the other staff were kind and quick as well. We will definitely be returning :)

Been to the Swan on numerous occasions and never had a bad experience. The food is always fantastic, Kyle, Kelly, Clare and the staff are always really friendly and very accommodating even to walk-ins. Highly recommend this place whether it is for lunch, dinner or the carvery or just for drinks.

We visited the Swan today for a late lunch, we were greeted and served by Liam, who was a very pleasant and helpful gentleman and his service was impeccable. We ordered a mega mixed grill sharing plater, which was amazing. The steaks were cooked to perfection, as was very else on our plate, the food was of excellent quality and the taste was superb. I couldn't of asked for a better meal. The whole experience was 1st class. We will be visiting the Swan on a regular basis and a very big thank to all at the Swan, what a great experience. Held our dads 65th family get together last night and from start to finish it was brilliant. Kyle especially handled everything and was absolutely outstanding. There were 11 of us, and all the food came out together and smoothly. Everyone said their meal was wonderful. Mixture of everything off the menu. Catered amazing for two coeliacs. Customer service was absolutely above and beyond and everything was catered for. Couldn’t recommend this place enough, and my husband sang the mothership pie’s praises all evening. Thank you to all the staff for making my dad’s birthday so lovely. We cannot wait to return already. Big bonus our fur baby (the dog) can join us here for family get togethers. Thank you again to you all x

First time at the swan was met with professional and courteous staff with a cheeky sense of humour 😂 excellent value for money regarding the food would definitely return if in the area and highly recommend.

Friendly staff, good honest food

I had the “medium” lunch £16:95, portions were laughable, roast potatoes, two the size of a fifty pence piece, boiled potatoes, the same, two the size of fifty pence pieces, cabbage, a small strainer ladle the size of a small coffee cup that was shaken until the top was level, I won’t go on, I walked away with half a plate for £16:95… when I paid, I spoke to the “manager” and aired my view on how pitiful the portions were for the price… “thanks, I’ll consider your feedback” with many good value options locally, I suggest to go elsewhere!

We enjoyed a wonderful meal on Tuesday Steak Night. Such good value and very friendly service. Best Stilton Sauce I’ve had in a while! We’ll be back.

We pre-booked and were offered drinks on our arrival. Very pleasant staff who served us with a smile. I chose the Horseshoe Gammon and Poppy went for the Moo & Blue (steak and stilton pie). Food took about 40 minutes from order to delivery but we were in no rush. Both meals were wonderful with Poppy saying that it was the best pie she had ever eaten in a pub setting. Without a doubt we will be back.

Great Sunday dinner. Shame there wasn't other kids options but the soup was amazing. Great roast, lots of food, piping hot, amazing service. We will be back to try the daily menu.

So glad we visited today. For the main course, I chose the chicken strip basket and my husband chose the curry of the day. For dessert, we had lemon meringue and crumble. Everything we had was lovely. The pub was quite busy, and although they were short on staff, the service was outstanding. Kyle, the pub manager, was incredibly welcoming and helpful, despite being very busy.

Food was excellent, pie was really tasty.. The service was great and once we had finished our meal we didn't feel rushed and we able to just sit and chat. Will definitely be back..

We have eaten at The Swan a few times since the new management and loved every meal. Menu great especially as I'm a veggie. So glad the pub is now dog friendly makes a big difference as we have an elderly little multipoo and don't like to leave her. Great staff and very welcoming. Thanks to all.

Good, pub food and a very welcome at this pub. A good selection too, which is nice. Not over priced and the staff are just lovely.

Last minute booking to avoid the mother in law cooking on New Year’s Day! All five of us from 80-8 had a great meal. The pies were excellent, the puddings were good. Staff/owners were excellent. It’s a small detail but when the barman remembers the child’s name and engages with them it makes it such a relaxed family environment. Will be back

Friendly attentive staff, nice atmosphere, a good choice of drinks and the majority of the food being fantastic however let down by the so called “homemade” onion rings made with guest ale beer batter. These were bland generic frozen onion rings priced at £4.99 for 6 despite the picture on the menu showing at least a dozen and also a salsa dip which we didn’t receive.

We had a lovely meal here tonight. Even tho we were late due to Christmas tractor run, which was amazing and magically so worth the latest, was very accommodating, I only had a starter, no fault of there’s I was around food all day (chef ) So didn’t fancy food to big. Wine was my choice. all other food came out fast , hot and efficient. We got a lift home to ; as taxi was an hour wait . Karaoke was awesome. Great night all round . Thank you. We will be back . As this is our kinda place to be xx .

We have visited 3 times now and enjoyed the 2 courses for £12 lunch deal which runs from Tuesday to Friday. Lovely food, good size portions and great value for money. The staff could not be more friendly. We intend to make regular visits to the Swan. It is well recommended by us.

Went on a Monday night to celebrate husband's birthday. Just me, hubby and daughter. I had the horseshoe gammon, very tasty, eggs cooked perfectly, lovely buttery field mushroom, daughter had the homemade burger, she changed the chunky chips for skin on fries, delicious. Hubby tried the Freeranger pie with seasonal veg chunky chips and gravy, he was a bit dubious because he's fussy about pastry but he thoroughly enjoyed it. Daughter had choc fudge cake with ice cream and I had the toffee sundae. Waddled back home, stuffed. Too busy eating to take pics. Looking forward to going back, next time I'm trying a pie.

What a super little pub, right on our doorstep! I do wish we visited earlier. Loved the traditional atmosphere. Staff were really friendly and welcoming and the food was delicious! All three essentials for a good pub ticked. We had a pie each off the pie menu. They were very tasty, as were the perfectly cooked (fresh, not over-boiled) seasonal vegetables and skin on fries. Our plates were polished. All three of us really enjoyed our evening. Next time we'll bring our dog too now that we know you're dog friendly!

Food was ok, nothing different . The guy serving us was great and welcoming. Found the inside of the pub dated and needs a good clean. Lots of webs, table and menu had stains and was sticky.

Had a lovely recent visit here, I myself have never been before but I’ll certainly be making an effort to return. Very reasonably priced, and more importantly the food was definitely worth the money. As a table of four we had the house curry (delicious and very generous portion!) two gammon meals and one Pieminster pie with two sides. We also all had desserts, which again were absolutely delicious. The staff were really attentive and you really couldn’t ask for much more! I would say if you’re on the fence, definitely give this place a visit. Such a lovely atmosphere and it really feels like the staff care and want to make this a successful place - which I’ve no doubt it will be!

The Sunday dinner we had today was spot on and very good value. Would highly recommend and will definitely go back again. Staff were very welcoming and couldn't do enough for you . Great pub and good location.

Had lunch here on a Wednesday with another couple and it was excellent. Incredible value for money for 2 courses (we would have happily paid more), we were well looked after by the front-of-house manager and the food was perfectly cooked with generous portions. The pub is very traditional, spacious and has ample, safe car parking. We will definitely go back.

We have been to the Swan 3 times in a week, excellent home made food, great portions and prices. A warm and friendly welcome makes the overall experience fantastic. You are shown to your table, orders taken for drinks and food separately and everything delivered with a smile. Well done to all at the Swan - You have it spot on - don't change a thing!!

Tasty burger, steak looked really nice. Only gripe I have is when asked if the desserts were home made, front of house asked chef, came back with the reply yes. I've worked in the industry for 40 years and I spot the difference 300 ft away before it's even reached the table.!!!

We the old farts decided to go to The Swan for our weekly lunch trip two of us had moo and blue pie very nice the jug of gravy that comes with it is really nice the other old fart had hunters chicken he said that was very nice we will definitely be back

Staff was awesome! People serving carvery was lovely. However the roast dinner (carvery) was so bad! The only word I can describe it is it was awful. Burnt Yorkshire pudding which should not of been served! Skin on carrots,I mean who likes that. Lack of food given as it’s a served carvery not one you choose the meat and then help yourself to veg and stuff after. When they asked us do we want pudding we was like no thanks as the main put us well off. Had to go to KFC after as I was starving. Such a shame coz the staff was lovely and it’s a cozy pub and I feel embarrassed coz it was for my mums birthday meal and we paid a ridiculous amount for disgusting food.

Had the most amazing pie and mash for lunch at the Swan Hereford. Kyle was really helpful with the menu choices and the beer was a really good pint. Will be back and recommend to anyone in the area to visit

Just back home from having an excellent lunch at The Swan. Excellent food fantastic service . I would highly recommend the food at The Swan to everyone.

This was our first visit to the Swan since its new ownership, we met friends here for lunch, on a Wednesday. There was a good choice on the menu. We ordered gammon, lasagna and Hunters chicken. Initially we thought the service was fairly slow but when the meals arrived they were worth the wait as they were all freshly cooked and looked appealing. All of us agreed after eating the food was excellent and we were happy with the prices. We were too full to eat puddings! Please give this place a try. There is plenty of car parking and the staff were very welcoming and friendly. There is a good range of food and if our meals were to go by, really delicious.

Had veg lasagne was disgusting £14 was a frozen slop from a supermarket ,rest of the party had pies which was OK on mash (not home made ) child had sausage and chips ( burnt sausage) won't be going back

Excellent food service and surrounding nice warm friendly, Steak Ale pie was a winner. Everything was cooked well. High recommend.

The steak was excellent—tender, flavourful, and a great value for the price. Service was also top-notch, with attentive and friendly staff. My only minor critique would be that with such high-quality steak, a more curated wine selection could elevate the experience even further. Nevertheless, I’ll definitely be returning!

Went for a evening meal, 4of us, daughter wanted curry but they had sold out, no lasagne, no burgers no pie although they advertise being a pie and steak pub advertising a good choice of pies and bestbof all they had run out of vinegar surely buy it in bottles and keep a stock unlikely to visit again.

Shocking food, my child could have cooked better. Filthy tables, floors, windows ( could hardly see out ) toilets, utter filth, goodness knows when they were cleaned last, no toilet roll or hand wash. Very expensive for very poor quality food that was obviously microwaved, dry, very bad quality all round. The wait for the food was ridiculous, chef was too busy sitting outside with drinkers all smoking. never return.

Lovely welcome by the Landlord, however it took an absolute age to get our order in & then another wait to find out they were out of ham (it was 1pm on a Wednesday??). Anyway we ordered sausage egg & chips instead, which again took an age, even though the pub was quiet. Although it tasted ok, it looked like a kids meal! Pretty disappointed. No vegan options, limited vegetarian. The lunch menu was a bit 1980s tbh. Toilets didn’t look like they’d had a decent clean for weeks & had no toilet roll or soap in the ladies. Certainly wouldn’t go there again for food.

Visited with two others at lunchtime on a july wednesday and were apparently the only customers .Food quality was ok but not particularly cheap.I think the place may have changed hands recently and the big plus was that staff were extremely helpful and welcoming so all things considered would recommend

Visited Hereford for a weekend trip and booked a table over the phone, ahead of time, for Sunday lunch at 3pm. Opening times unclear across FB & Google. Booking was taken, no issues. Arrived and the place was deserted. We were seated nonetheless but deduced they must be closing soon. Roast was a tiny, sad, carvery affair. ‘Cheesy’ leek consisted of thin water and flour mixture who forgot to invite cheddar to the party. Food tasted like it had never even heard of salt or seasoning, nevermind encountered it. Over-boiled carrots slumped sadly on our plates, begging for the end to come. And how one can mess up the humble potato to that extent was simply astounding. The only thing vaguely suggesting seasoning was the stuffing, which is just as well, as it likely came from a packet. The food had clearly been sat there for hours, marinading in its own despair. We looked forward to this as a weekend treat but left sorely disappointed. At £40+ for two people, it wasn’t just the food leaving a bitter taste. If you’d have just told us you were closing, or that we’d be thrown the sorry dregs of your remaining roast (heat lamps were turned off and bartender clocked off shortly after we arrived), we’d have happily gone elsewhere. In fact, we drove to Bunch of Carrots for dessert, in an attempt to salvage the remains of our Sunday, and almost cried when we saw their beautiful carvery on show. Never again.

Very friendly, welcoming and accomodating. We only had drinks so cannot comment on food. They even brought us a fresh bowl of water for our dog.

Good food Well looked after

Came in for a nice Sunday roast. Staff were very friendly and the place its self has a really nice rustic “family run / non-corporate” feel, which was lovely! The roast was delicious, only thing that let it down was the lack of broccoli, but that of course is personal preference. Really nice place would recommend!

Absolutely fantastic food 😋 starter platter for 2 Main meal 1 mixed grill,1 steak The steaks where cooked to perfection medium rare very tasty and tender Puddings Apple pie with Ice cream,sticky toffee pudding with cream the puds are home cooked and lush best apple pie I've had plenty of filling and the pastry really buttery

Excellent food and you have to try their Sunday roast beef. It is so so good. Thursday night Steak with my Uncle and a nice long chat is fab and the staff look after him so well. Thanks guys for doing this.

This was our first time here. It's an attractive, spacious pub with an interesting menu with several specials. We enjoyed our meals and a couple of pints of Banks's. A friendly, genial host. We'll be going again.
