Rude, extremely disappointing, shocking and disrespectful staff! We arrived after making a booking the day before. I booked 2 Adults, 1 child aged 2. The booking itself was pleasant. We got slightly lost, rang in and again very pleasant. Arrived 7 minutes late and walked into a very ‘local’ pub feel. All eyes on us. We were told by the bar person that they were glad we found them. A woman appeared and looked at my Grandson and commented ‘we don’t have highchairs’ I commented that I’d booked ahead with a child on the booking? She said she would go down in the cellar and dust something suitable to bring up then asked me if I had a chair in my car???!!!! We approached the bar and I said I was confused as I’d booked a child ahead of coming. I was ignored, I said once again and the younger woman behind the bar looked at me and in a slightly raised voice utttered ‘well, yes she’s gone to get you something hasn’t she!!’ Based on this experience I told my Friend we were leaving as being treated like this was way beyond acceptable. I wasn’t happy and I let it be known! My Friend and I were left shocked and felt we had been treated appallingly by 2 extremely rude women. Whilst we were putting my Grandson in the car the older women came out and further patronised us with her offering of a dusted off cellar chair and we told her that her colleague was vile and it had gone beyond the chair. She walked off. Having read through the reviews I can see hands have changed and so this may be why I didn’t receive the reputation I had heard of. I have the feeling they felt they were above us! I’m not easily impressed so their Morgan cars and gold large Baroque chairs only further deepens my suspicions that they think they’re better 🤣🤣

Dinner: Lovely atmosphere and ‘happy feeling’ from staff really nice to experience on first visit. Felt like there were ‘loads’ of people serving and making sure everything was alright. And was it! Experienced their Herefordshire steak which was a joy to behold - taste was superb and cooked to perfection. Even the chips were excellent! The chef is a genius :). Wonderful evening and dinner to die for. Can’t recommend enough.

All four adults called the Stagg Inn for Wednesday lunch and can't fault the service from two great ladies and the food was faultless, we only had starters and mains as we were all too full for desserts. We would highly recommend, also our compliments also go to the chef for our meals, Chilli King Prawns and King Garlic Scallops were our choices with mains being Fish & Chips while the other 3 had fillet steak cooked to perfection. If you're ever passing through you should really call in here. Thank you to all the staff at the Stagg Inn.

Keith, Lisa, their family and team have made a bold and bright start to their tenure in this historic pub. Herefordshire is a sleepy rural county, but Lisa's energetic front of house style, the clever use of mirrors and colour, blended with Keith's fine cooking make this one of Herefordshire's hidden gems. The dining room is small, the menu is limited but this means Keith can chef competently and with flair not over stretching the small family team. The garden is a great spot to sit and enjoy a long cold drink in summer, the 'boudoir' is a quirky, cosy room to while away a few hours on a rainy day. Absolutely worth a visit. It's a small family team trying hard to bring this historical pub back to life. And if you like cars, you can always book one of the Morgan experiences and stay for the night.

From the moment we walked in the service was impeccable, a beautiful restaurant and the food was absolutely perfect. We had 3 courses and it was the nicest meal we have had out in a long time. Everything was cooked to perfection and clearly made with skill and passion. The new owners even went as far as holding our newborn for a cuddle so we could eat our main course together whilst it was hot. What gem of a place. Highly recommend and would definitely return when we are visiting the area.

We decided to revisit The Stagg in Titley this evening, and wow were we impressed! Now run by a delightfully friendly family The Stagg has a fresh, clean modern but cosy family feel with delightful decor to match. There's a bar area which leads onto an uncluttered tastefully decorated dining area. The conveniences have had a fabulous upgrade. Further round is the snug/drinks/entertainment area, with sumptuous seating and magnificent mirrors. Further round there is a beautiful private dining area with a cosy fire. Both Lisa and Imogen were engaging and friendly, ensuring each guest is attended to. The food was blissful. Presentation was spot on. Portion size was exactly correct. Hats off to the Chef, brava! The overall ambience and feel was elegant but homey, special and welcome. We will certainly return.

We booked for Sunday Lunch because the sample menu had a range of choices for my wife who did not wish to eat meat. The actual menu was much reduced with one unappetizing vegeterian option and no fish ( a highlight of June's sample menu online). They only offer a single non-alcoholic beer and no zero alcohol wines (we had a lengthy drive ahead of us) . The decor is really tacky and the service over familiar, I am too old to be addressed as "darling" by anyone I have never met before. We finished our drinks and left without eating.

Morgan Experience. Great welcome from Lisa and Keith who made us feel at home immediately. The room was lovely, with some nice touches such as fresh milk for tea and coffee (re-freshed again in the morning). The standard and quality of the food in the restaurant was excellent, as was the service. Good wine list too. After a super continental breakfast served by Lisa, Keith gave us a rundown on the tour route plus a few points we needed to be aware of. He then led us to the car and delivered a very comprehensive briefing on how to drive and get the best from a Morgan. The pre-programmed satnav worked flawlessly and took us through some stunningly beautiful country. The stop-off points have been well chosen. Overall an excellent and thoroughly enjoyable short break. Highly recommended.

I did write a review and for some reason it hasn’t been published so this will be far briefer! Firstly, you have to book in advance that’s fair enough, but they didn’t ask for a deposit which seems a little excessive, but the main problem is there’s nowhere to pay it and they don’t open till Wednesday so then you’re insecure about where they are actually going to get in! Not the best start! Providing bank details might help? They also ask in advance if there’s any dietary requirements, and we advised gluten-free for one of our members But we then had a really mixed night: On arrival, straightaway noticed very sweet and friendly staff, but no hint of a uniform, wearing branded clothing, (and I don’t mean the Stagg!).. immediately demeans this once salubrious restaurant! Why not just wear black - that’s easy and classy Then we arrived on their first day of week - Wednesday 730 sat down to study the menu. I am gluten-free, ordered the ham hock terrine, but they had no gluten-free bread available! What was the point of asking us in advance then? And what kind of restaurant of this (former) quality wouldn’t cater for somebody with a gluten intolerance?! A couple of us wanted duck but they only had one duck available! I can’t understand the shortage on their opening day first thing! The food was good, but again mixed For pudding, most of our party had lemon tart which was really well received, but I had a smoked cherry and chocolate mousse, which was seriously inedible and everybody agreed - all you could taste was smoke!! to be fair, they took this off the cost of the bill, but it really should not have been served in the first place. Again, this subtracts, from the credibility of what was at one point, a Michelin recommended restaurant. Lastly, as a sweet surprise, they served up a plate with happy birthday piped on it - and three little chocolate cups, but there was 4 of us, so I asked if they could spare another one and was told there was no more in the kitchen! It would’ve been better probably not to have served anything at all! But I appreciate the gesture!

Oh dear, such a shame. We ate here three times under Shan's ownership and found the food and, particularly, the attention to detail in the welcome and service exceptional. This time we invited a friend expecting to give them the same treat but this was not a patch on our previous experiences. The staff were friendly but so lacking in training e.g. no offer of accompaniments, we had to ask for sauces, no checking if the meals were ok and a very long wait after finishing our main meal to be asked if we would like to see the dessert menu (the dining rooms were less than a third full). The meat was fine but the tenderstem was anything but tender, the half carrot was tasty but well overcooked and only warm, the roast potatoes were good but, again, mostly only warm and the yorkshire pudding was barely warm and soft, not at all crispy. Overall a complete contrast to expectations and I wish I'd checked recent reviews before booking.

Staff went way above the call of duty. Great staff, delicious food, nice atmosphere and good beer / sensible wine prices. But best of all, when we rang only the day before to ask about taxis home (staying ten minutes drive away) and explained we’d tried the local firms - basically we left it far too late! - the response was ‘don’t worry we will get you home!’ So after three lovely courses (duck mains probably the best but rhubarb choux bun for pudding a close second), and another late drink at the bar, Alex the barman drove us home in two shifts in his own car. It truely made our evening.

I couldn't have been more disappointed by my experience of this establishment which looked so promising. Not only was I asked to pay a deposit of £10 per head when making the booking (which led me to expect a high quality experience), I was dismayed by the overall lack of professionalism. When it came to ordering our drinks, the wine waiter openly said she knew nothing about wines, that she was virtually teetotal, and she asked that we order wine by number and not by name because she didn't understand the wine list. Some of our meals had to be sent back as they had not been cooked well, and we were told that the chef blamed the poor quality of the cooking on the fact that it had been a hot day and that this had adversely affected his ovens. It had been a hot day, and one can understand that this could have an impact on a kitchen, but I should have expected a professional chef to have pre-empted problems by either removing dishes from the menu that could not be cooked well, or by refusing to send out poorly cooked dishes. The overall impression was that the chef was not properly in charge of his kitchen. It appeared that staff had not been trained to a high standard and it felt like they were doing a 'Saturday job' to fill in. Given the relatively high prices that are charged for wine and food, I expected a higher standard of care and attention at the table, but this was not forthcoming, sadly. Finally, it felt inappropriate for the awards won by the previous owners of the business to adorn the entrance to the inn as they had not been awarded to the current owners and appeared to create an impression of excellence which was lacking for me.

Totally awful. We had really high hopes following the re-opening of this previously Michelin-starred dining pub. The menu promised much but the actual result was shocking. To start with they demand £10 per person up front payment; I have never known a dining pub do this. The room we sat in was dilapidated: the ceiling was falling down and part of the wall decoration was falling off. Contrary to the recent review the cheese souffle was terrible. It was flat and burned. Also it came with chips for goodness sake, and a salad that included a bottled gerkin! When we complained the waitress accepted it was not good enough but said the kitchen was too hot. They then brough replacement souflees which were so cold you could put your finger in them without any pain. Another member of our party had fish and chips; the fish was so over-cooked that in places the batter was almost black. When we asked to see the chef to express our views he declined to meet us and instead sent his partner who was apologetic but her explanations simply didn't hold water. Interestingly by 8.30 the place was almost empty - and this was a Saturday night when you would have expected a full house. The only thing worth eating was the bread. Prices were outrageous for quality of this level - £20 for the soufle was double what it would have been worth if it had been any good. We won't be back under this ownership.

From start to finish, this meal was very disappointing, both in terms of cuisine and service. Historically, the Stagg Inn has been a first class gastropub, but the new team has much to sort out. Our main courses were overcooked, in some cases to the point of being inedible. The un-risen cheese soufflé was burnt on the top and side but undercooked in the centre with an unappealing layer of onion on the base. The sole was swimming in butter and oil with a flavour of curry. The pork belly had been cooked until it was rock hard and the dish was very salty. The crab arrancini sat in a hollandaise sauce which had a dominant vinegar taste which killed any sense of crab. Deserts were equally disappointing. The staff were inexperienced and had difficulty understanding our wine order. If you are looking for something special, the Stagg Inn is, unfortunately, no longer worth considering.

Came for Saturday night dinner and Sunday lunch. It was obvious to us it has changed hands. The food was not a patch on what it used to be. I didn’t like the open salt and pepper going stale and covered in dust (there are grinders if you ask). On both occasions I couldn’t have my starter as they had run out. The lamb was tasty but tough and nearly cold. Too many flavours with wild garlic being used too liberally. Husbands rare roast beef was cold, the plates need heating more and the outside fat would have been well cooked and slightly crispy if I’d cooked it but it was inedible. As for the rum baba pudding we couldn’t get our spoons through the sponge, it had been turned to rubber by overheating it in the microwave and the pineapple wasn’t cooked. Staff were nice and efficient

We visited the Stagg Inn shortly after it re-opened after lockdown... immediately as we arrived (it is in the middle of the country!) the number of cars outside showed it was a popular place!! The pub is set up for social distancing and I didn't at any time feel unsafe. The restaurant and grounds are absolutely beautiful and the staff were also very nice. On arrival, we were offered complimentary homemade crisps and sourdough bread, both which were delicious. I think these were the nicest crisps I have ever tasted! We shared scallops to start, which were cooked superbly, and the roasted carrots were so fresh, we did wonder if the carrot and ginger puree could have coped with a little extra blast of ginger, but on the whole it was lovely. My partner opted for chicken which he really enjoyed, and the chips were superb, and the coleslaw was made with the freshest of vegetables. I opted for the vegan cauliflower dish, served with chickpeas and spinach...this was delicious - cooked perfectly and seasoned wonderfully well, but I came away craving a portion of Moroccan couscous, with pomegranate seeds to accompany the dish! The wines were very reasonably priced, and there was a fabulous selection of drinks and gins. The prices were extremely reasonable and we really enjoyed our trip. I would definitely have no reservations about recommending the Stagg Inn...and would love to go back when everything has properly returned to normal.

An absolute favourite of ours. Menu is fantastic and a well-matched wine list. Personally, gotta have the sweetbreads as a starter, just amazing!!

We have been coming here for a number of years, actually ever since Steve & Nicola took it over! We loved it when it kicked off, happy when they got their Michelin star but a couple of years ago, it seemed to have lost the plot a bit. Delighted to say that, they seem to be back where they started - great!! Honest menu with great local providence, well executed and presented. Great evening, will be back in the not too distant future.

We have eaten here many times over the years and it is always something we really look forward to. Our most recent visit was August 2019.The menu is great with locally sourced meat and I think the scallops are as good as any I have had in this country. The cheese board is also a delight with many choices. This is definitely a must do if you are in the locality.

Two of us - we had hand made crisps (they don’t do commercial ones), beef fillet plus drinks. The fillet was faultless but the crisps had been saturated in fat, and it tasted like old fat. We left much of these - why allow such a low ticket item to spoil the whole experience?

Poor quantity of food, artily served - and we left hungry! At £18.50 for duck breast, I expected a duck breast not four small slices, a small piece of peach and half a potato and a tiny bit of spinach, however artily arranged. My husband was similarly unimpressed with his cod loin (in pieces with samphire and grain and small pieces of potato). Not satisfying. We left hungry and went home to eat which rather defeats the object of dining out. I had sweetbreads for starter, very small quantity, and my husband had smoked salmon just pieces flat on a plate but with raw onion? Sorry but I like good wholesome well prepared food and this was a bit arty farty for us. Even a good bowl of veg would have made some difference, it would have cost buttons- but no. Not expensive food to serve - but the prices are very expensive for the quantity of food. We won't be back, Herefordshire is such a foodie county - and we can do much better than this.

What a great place for a lunch in the country. Quality food ,top class service and pleasant atmosphere. Perfectly cooked steak for me and rump of lamb for Jill. Gourmet dining but not pretentious and portions were generous. We will be back.

Took two friends for Sunday lunch, with quite high expectations having enjoyed good food over time in the past, (though usually from the blackboard menu in the week).First courses were O.K. if somewhat flavourless (home cured salmon using local vodka)Three of us chose the fish course for our main. The fourth member had the duck - who was generally happy with her plate, if a little hungry to finish. There were no separate vegetable dishes. We waited, after plates were served, for too long a time to be reasonable and then of course realised that separate vegetables were not to be served at all.The fish was underwhelming - a little tired and small of size. All vegetables were plated: tiny diced fried potato - perhaps equivalent in total to one small one; a shallot, cut in half. Squidges of 'gravy/sauce; other bits of something indeterminate and the sum total was - 'But we're still hungry'. Nouvelle cuisine re-visited. So very disappointing. Pudding was better. Needed something filling after such a small main course offering, which seemed to be a touch of the Emperor's New Clothes, spread over a large plate. Treacle tart was fine and filling and creme brûlée was also o.k. Good buzzy atmosphere all round - as usual. Busy and vibrant. Was it just us with our disappointing food - and especially the main course? Just a shame and a deflating experience. Can't say we shall rush back.

Visited The Stagg while on holiday in the area. We had booked in to a number of gastro pub type places but this was the best and I wish we had booked in more than once. Couldn’t fault the meal or service albeit the coffee was not quite in the same league. Highly recommended!!

Unpretentious relaxed atmosphere. We eat here just about every week. Excellent fish, my preference, beautifully cooked. Nicola Reynolds can be guaranteed to make you welcome and, if asked nicely, will perform a short poem or terpsichorean treat.

Lovely place for dinner. Have returned every year for about 8 years now. Food never disappoints. Good wine and friendly and efficient service. Not overpriced either given the quality. Great place to visit. Worth the trip. I particularly like all the nibbly pre starters and the sea bass for main course. The trio of crime brûlées and the ice creams and sorbets for dessert are sublime!

Have not dined here for a while, but will make sure we go back soon. We had dinner here to celebrate a birthday and the food and service were nothing short of excellent. A very good menu selection, ample portions and prepared to the highest standards, and all at quite reasonable prices given the quality. The staff were chatty, friendly and arrived at all the right times, we had the three courses, all of which were beautifully presented. The restaurant/pub was full, which given it was a mid-week day says it all. The Stag has a wonderful garden, with ample seating....weather permitting of course. Without a doubt one of the best dining experiences in Herefordshire, and has been for a number of years. Treat yourself and go along.

We were staying on the Malvern View Country and Leisure Park for a weekend stay which we could not fault. However, we dined at The Old Barnhouse on the Saturday evening and unfortunately the food was terrible. We waited for nearly an hour and when the food arrived it was half cold. My mother and father had scampi and chips, no peas and they were out of tartare sauce! My sister and I had the New Yorker chicken which consisted of a huge portion of coleslaw that wasn’t very nice and the chicken was small and if poor quality. My daughter had a kids pizza, chips and beans which was just about acceptable. The five meals and a round of drinks came to over £80 which was appalling for the quality of the food. Avoid The Old Barnhouse for food! Pleasant enough for a drink.

I ordered a pork roll with apple sauce and crackling. The crackling was a tiny square and the apple sauce was merely a smear. I ordered a latte and my wife ordered an Americano, I forgot which was which so tasted each and couldn't tell the difference. We both left our coffees and went to Coffee #1 for a decent cuppa. Shame
