Amazing 3 course meal for Fathers day and excellent value. Massive portions and great choice. Only slight criticism was the music kept cutting out, so effected the ambience.

Went for meal with a friend and was very disappointed in the service. The food took along time and the drinks. The meal was not served at the same time and waiting was unacceptable. My friends meal had to be sent back three times until they were both ready to be served . We asked to speak to the manager and was told he was too busy he then gave us a discount on the bill. The manager refused to speak to us completely ignore us which was so very rude . The whole experience was such a let down as this restaurant was recommended I wont be going back in a hurry.

After experiencing cooking my own tender steak on hot Volcanic rock there is only one bad point I can say about this place and it was just one server that let them down. Reviewing Molten's Mediterranean Restaurant: The food was delicious, all but one of the waitstaff were helpful, genuine and polite, and worthy of a tip. We had the entire dining hall to ourselves for a big party of ten + for my mother-in-law's 70th birthday. Food was served promptly, hot, and without error. We stayed for coffee afterward and it was here things took a turn. Sitting in the lounge area afterward, the main waiter, maybe a manager, I don't know, served us coffees. I asked the female waitress who took the order if I could have a decaf mocha with oat milk (because I'm allergic to coffee and milk) and she said it was no problem. This waiter, who'd been a bit disingenuous when serving us dinner, returned with our hot drinks and announced an "oat milk mocha." I asked because I always like to check before putting something into my body that could harm me if it was decaf. He said no, they didn't do decaf and looked at me like I was an idiot. I felt embarrassed in front of my entire family but knew that the waitress before had said that was fine. I sent it back and he didn't even apologize. Also, the bill was wrong. My poor father-in-law had to spend at least twenty minutes getting this same guy to remove items - two bottles of expensive wine to be exact - from the bill. I'm not sure if they charged for my mocha coffee but I hope not. I didn't think to check. Overall, most of the staff are great, the food is excellent if a little expensive. They don't serve decaf coffee - or so the rude waiter told me, speaking to me as if I'm an idiot for asking for decaf - but the place is well decorated, I guess? Would return but would check the bill meticulously and wouldn't dare ask for decaf coffee. Did enjoy cooking my steak. And would also say that the vegetarian meals should be larger. My boyfriend is a man, not a mouse. Oh, and when I called up before to ask about allergies for the menu, they were very kind and helpful and went out of their way to email me the menu and a list from the chef of all the things I was safe to eat. So this is why they get a four out of five, not a three.

I booked for afternoon tea for a treat for a friends birthday. 1 week before we were due to go, I called the venue to enquire whether they did vegan afternoon tea, to be told they did and their vegan cakes were delicious. This was very good news, so I changed the booking to be for one vegan and one standard afternoon tea. A week later, my friend and I went to the Mercure, were seated and about 3 minutes later were presented with our afternoon tea display. I asked the waiter what the vegan options were. He looked confused and said ‘ahh, you are a vegetarian’, so I pointed out I was vegan and that I had called one week ago to make this known and was told this wasn’t a problem. He went to the kitchen and returned with 3x roast veg finger sandwiches, and told me the top tier of our platter should be ok, as they only contained butter! So I had to explain vegan meant no dairy.. The waiter again went off to speak to the kitchen and this time returned with a slice of chocolate torte that had been chopped into squares and was told this was vegan and could he help with anything else. 3 finger sandwiches and a slice of torte in my opinion doesn’t constitute afternoon tea. But for some reason the kitchen and the waiter thought this was acceptable. So I asked if there were any other options as I was not only really disappointed as the surprise for my friend was turning into an embarrassing shambles, but also disappointed that I had called to pre order a vegan tea and was told it was available! Clearly it wasn’t. After many visits to and from the kitchen, I was given a plate of other sandwiches and veg samosa and was told they were sorry but they had no other cake options. But that was something at least. By this point we had been there over half an hour! It wasn’t ideal. I wrote to the hotel on the Sunday - two days after our visit which was one week ago and I’m yet to get a response on this which I think is pretty poor. It was a disappointing afternoon.

Just myself dining. Ordered drinks (Gin and Tonic and a water) that didn't arrived until 5 minutes after my main (didn't have a starter). Having ordered the Ribeye steak, it was tough and very gristly with sweet potato that were not very warm at all. The waiter asked if something was wrong with my food. I pointed out the faults to which he apologised. After a glance at the dessert menu I ordered the Cheesecake. It didnt come. Two other members of staff asked if there was anything else I would like/if I would like to see the dessert menu and both times I pointed out I had ordered the cheesecake. Approx 25 minutes later, still no cheesecake and I asked to pay and speak to the manager. The waiter asked the manager to remove the cheesecake from my bill and then the manager scarpered off without speaking to me. the most disappointing £36.05 meal I've ever had

I assume this is a business/ work hotel hence, the other diners are much more casual in tee shirts etc. Find a nice spot and you'll really enjoy the evening The meal was very nice albeit small in portion. Somehow a glass of Savignon Blanc is nearly £12 !! Staff was friendly and helpful. Overall, we had a great evening and a lovely meal

I have visited the hotel on two occasions this week, the first was to redeem a Volcanic Rock Groupon Voucher and the second for Lunch. Lovely lady called Kayleigh booked us in for the Volcanic rock and was very helpful when we realised we had to move the booking to a different day. When we arrived for our booking we were told it was the option of Sirloin or Rib-Eye steak however when we ordered the Groupon voucher you had the option of Chicken, Pork, Tuna, Lamb and Steak, when we asked if it was possible to have something off the normal menu due to the selection decreasing we were told the option was Rib-eye or Sirloin steak. Our Steak was over cooked and couldn't tell a member of staff due to not receiving a check up on our meal, therefore we put up and shut up. When a member of staff realised we had finished we were asked if we would like to look at the dessert menu, not once asked how our meal was we didn't like the selection of desserts on the menu when we looked to order our mains so we chose to finish and enjoy our drinks. After all members of staff had run around for a table of 14 the restaurant manager bought over our bill without us asking for it and placed it on the table, again with no concern about how our meal was. We then waited half an hour for someone to collect our bill after we had watched the Restaurant manager count how many tables were in the restaurant and shouting across the restaurant at her colleagues. Then we visited for a spot of lunch my mum ordered the mushrooms on toast and I ordered the Chicken Caesar Salad. Kayleigh that we had spoken to for the Volcanic rock booking was there and treated us well with great customer service, she was very welcoming. When the food came out My mum's mushrooms on toast looked like mush on some toasted bread and the caesar salad was in a huge bowl with cold chicken and iceberg lettuce I had a look at the menu after eating half of the menu to find this cost £15! For a cold chicken breast and lettuce you buy from the shop for £1? We did mention this however did not want to complain as we had to leave to go back to work. I would just like to say a huge thank you to Kayleigh for all her help and great customer service!

The restaurant is located inside the Mercure in Two Mile Ash. Lovely decor and ambience. Was a good day and so sat down close to the glass windows only to realise later that the curtains are decor only and cannot be moved in any direction to block the direct sun. Food was a hit and miss. Tortilleni was delicious but the curry was way off the mark. No hint of coconut in it and was rather tangy due to the wholly tomato base that it was cooked in. Desserts were good. Overall service at lunch time was slow.

It’s a wonderful restaurant, food is absolutely delicious; sadly their customer service is poor; one have to wait a long time to be served, and to wait for someone to take orders for drinks. Went there with my friends to celebrate my birthday and was humiliated by one of the waitresses, which came back after taking order from my husband of a glass of wine included in the voucher and said to him (rather loudly) that: lady already had her glass of wine included in the voucher (which I did, but my husband didn’t, so he wanted me to have his, as it was included in a voucher anyway); so I said to her, that he did, but I didn’t, but she chose to completely ignore what I was saying (facing her back at me) and repeated the same thing to him again, to which he answered: yes, but I didn’t have it, so I want her to have mine; after which she went away with a moody face on, without any apology!

We had a cream tea in Moltens restaurant, which was excellent, but like a previous reviewer Sandb64 we were not aware that we had to register our car to use the car park and as a result got a ticket, which did dampen our nice afternoon. We also suffered the abrupt decline of our appeal to the company that manages the car park. We appealed to the Manager at the hotel and, fingers crossed, the ticket was cancelled. I don't know if it's coincidence, but it was also toward the end on January that we received our ticket! I should add that we are planning to return in the near future

This restaurant has always been one of my favourites but the last couple of visits have been sorely disappointing perhaps the staff have changed as old familiar faces are no longer there. This review is about Christmas lunch we had on Christmas day this year I can only describe it as poor at best. To start with the bottle of water they gave us tasted horrible I don't know what was wrong with it but we had to get a different bottle which was fine. There was no music on this year and no cheery atmosphere like the previous year it was quiet and dull. The staff were good but again not cheerful like they normally have been and there was no glass of Prosecco given this year either although it says you get one on the brochure.

While the food was good, the service was appalling, it was 45 minutes before we got our dinner, once we had finished it took us asking after 20 minutes to get the desert menu. Once we ordered our deserts they seemed to have forgotten about us. We called the waiter over and asked where they were and when he eventually brought them out they were wrong. We gave up on the deserts and then spent a further 10minutes trying to Find someone to pay. They were more interested in laying tables for breakfast than looking after customers that were there.

We had a Groupon voucher for Afternoon Tea for 4 at the Moltens Restaurant based at the Mercure Hotel, we had been before so new what standard and also the quality of what to expect, it had always been good on previous visits. We were all so disappointed there was a lack of staff serving the Tea, the majority of staff seemed to be focusing more on the wedding function in the adjoining section of the Restaurant. I know that wedding functions are a big money spinner, but there was only 1 young lad and a girl serving Afternoon Tea, also serving Sunday Dinner or lunches, as well as trying to clear tables, surely we are all customers either full paying or not. When the lad did come to our table to ask what we required to drink, I asked for a pot of Earl Grey only to be told they did not have any, pretty poor for a Hotel Group of this size. Everyone else had Tea and I plumped for the coffee, the drinks arrived all luke warm, and got drank quite quickly before they got cold. The Afternoon Tea itself soon followed and looked at first to be of its normal high standard. One of the bowl of Nacho type crisps had gone soft, so not fresh out of a packet, these got left. The sandwiches were on the whole bordering stale and getting a tad hard round the edges, obviously not freshly made and I would say had been pre made and left standing for quite awhile. The scones were appalling rock hard, so much so our friends resorted in scooping the middle out with a spoon. They were warmed up a bit, but this did not disguise the fact they were clearly stale. We had more drinks served to our table, but to be fair they were not hot either. So have to say with the long waiting time, warm drinks and stale food, not a great time was had.

Enjoyed a steak lunch on a Groupon offer. The ambience was good, if a little quiet, and the waitress was charming. I bought a groupon voucher for a steak meal for 4 with wine. The meal took forever to come and we were not offered any bread while we waited. When it eventually came we had 5 chips each and a piece of steak and some onion and mushroom.. 2 out of the 4 pieces of steak were inedible so we cooked then on the hot stone until they were burnt in the hope that we coudl then chew them. The idea of the hot stone is great and we loved cooking our own steaks which kept hot but the slow service and poor meat ruined the experience. Sadly i can' t recommend the restaurant and to top it all the waitresses seemed fed up and literally threw our cutlery at us. A great idea but sadly wasn't a great meal.

There are NO restrictions, NOR terms and conditions, NOR lists of restrictions on the voucher by Mercure. When I phoned to make the reservation to use the vouchers, a very unprofessional man, who was rather hard to understand told me that he was not booking us in, because he would only take a maximum of 6 people per voucher. I explained it was 2 separate vouchers, but he refused to honour them. He also said HE DID NOT CARE if I cancelled, because he had not yet received any money for our voucher anyway! Our drinks order was quickly taken and when we were ready, food was ordered.Didn't take too long for the food to arrive and I have to say, quality of food was excellent, very tasty.Unfortunately service went downhill from this point. We weren't asked is we wanted drink refills, staff weren't attentive at all and the waitress didn't return until I called her over, quite a while after we'd actually finished our food and to ask for the dessert menu. At this point we got drink refills as well. Dessert was delicious and when we were done, I caught someone's attention to get the bill.Overall, nice place, great food but unnattentive staff. The review is for the restaurant Having visited here a few months ago for dinner and enjoyed ourselvesWe came back.. same nice surroundings but what a difference in staff.Last time good service and helpful. This time the order was taken fine then the waiting began. just under an hour for the four steak meals to be ready. Lava rock steak meals again so apart from the chips not a lot of cooking by the kitchen involved. The waiting staff put the sizzling platters down in front of us. 3 of the four the wrong way around so the lava rock is presented off centre to give space between the person dining while sizzles. So the staff need to be aware. The steaks seemed to be cut thin this time so cooked very quickly. And not up to the nice juicy steaks we had last time. When finished we waited a while as the restaurant had a few other people being served.Waited a while longer ...and longer..tried to get the attention of staff as they now we're laying the tables for breakfast 9.30 pm. Eventually a young man came over and cleared asking if we would like desserts. We said no thank you just the bill. We ended up getting up and going over to the place where they process the payments to pay the bill..Over all very disappointed. Hence the 3 out of five..

Came here for a special occasion with my family. We gave over a weeks notice that I was vegetarian and therefore needed a vegetarian afternoon tea. The afternoon teas arrived and the vegetarian sandwiches were just limp pieces of lettuce and Slice of tomato in bread. Not very nice!! The meat eaters had egg mayo and cheese sandwiches...why not stick to those for the vegetarians??! The "bubbly" was flat and all the tables were complaining but then they continued to bring out the flat prosecco to new customers. The staff were rude and not helpful at all. We had to go and fetch them multiple times. We had workmen drilling the entire time behind us. Not very peaceful.Such a shame as the surroundings and interior design is beautiful.

Visit No.1 Having booked a table for 7.30 we arrived in the bar at about 7 - ordered cocktails and requested menus. The prosecco 'on the side ' of our cocktail was flat but we chose to ignore this.At about 7.40 my partner approached a young lady, not wearing a name badge, leaning on the desk of the restaurant and told her of our booking time and no one had taken our order. Her responce was short and inaudible but she did follow him back to the bar and took our order. (the lady concerned has since been identified to us as Levi the supervisor!). She then brought cutlery to our table in the bar, I questioned this - given our booking, and also requested someone take another drinks order. At about 5 past 8 I stopped a passing member of bar staff and asked if we could have a bottle of prosecco and if he could enquire what was happening with our table and order. He was very polite and apologetic and returned to take us to our table. The tuna on volcanic rock that my partnered had ordered, to cook at table, arrived very well done on a plate! The bar person then brought an already opened bottle of prosecco to the table, I questioned why it was open, but his response was hopefully it would be fizzier than what we had had earlier. Not once did a member of staff approach to ask after us or the meal, in fact 'Levi' spent most of the time leaning on the desk head in hands.Visit No.2 we returned to the hotel to have to, literally, push through intoxicated wedding guests blocking the door, smoking, drinking and eating Macdonalds ! After spending several minutes unable to get near the bar due to noisy, rude wedding guests, or attract the attention of a member of staff, we chose to dine elsewhere.Visit No.3 we saw on 'Tastecard' website that they were new members, joining the scheme in the last 30 days and that they were offering 2 for 1 on bar meals. However on entering the bar we were told, quite abruptly, by a young lady, no name badge, green pony tail - later identified to us as the restaurant manager that they 'hadn't done taste card for months'!Once again we would eat in the restaurant and she took our order. Some time later she returned and said 'your dinners on the table' and left us to carry our drinks and ice bucket to a table where we found the food going cold. She then proceeded to noisily wheel cutlery trolleys from the kitchen into the restaurant and set up the tables around us for breakfast! I couldn't help noticing that she regularly handled the eating surfaces! The junior staff do seem curtious and professional, but what chance do they have?! The manager and supervisor are destroying this place.

Visited this hotel restaurant for the afternoon tea on Mothers Day yesterday, had the Mad Hatters afternoon tea and it was stunning! The conservatory where we were sitting was lovely and bright, beautifully decorated and very welcoming. The Afternoon Tea was delicious, it was all so well presented and the staff could not be more accommodating. Really enjoyed the whole experience and would thoroughly recommend it, will also plan to visit the patio terrace at the hotel in the summer for cocktails as the setting is so lovely.

Visit for a family of 5. The Food was ok... everything we chose was out of stock (scallops, lamb, Créme brûlée). Apparently the menu was being changed so there weren't many meals in stock! Fillet steak was quite chewy and the beef stroganoff wasn't nice, quite watery. The mushroom risotto was very bland so bad to season a lot ourselves. The staff were nice enough though and he service was good. Nice decor.

This Restaurant is within the hotel Mecure located in the western outskirts of Milton Keynes. It is quite a way from the centre. So if you have booked a room you will need to drive in to the centre and it is quite a way. The only reason I came here was because I got a groupon voucher as a gift, I attempted to book the restaurant on 3 separate occasions and failed there are a lot of restrictions and barriers to the booking so be aware such as you have to book 3 days in advance and only evening meals are available. Apparently they are also too busy to pick up the phone as well.So rather cynically I thought the worst when I finally booked. I came on a rainy day so I didn’t have a good view of the hotel from the outside as I rushed to get inside. On the inside the hotel looked pretty posh. There is a bar area in front of the restaurant all of which looks pretty good apart from some loud people at the bar creating a nuisance. I got the impression that there were a lot of parties going on so everyone looked pretty excitable. The restaurant itself was empty which I thought strange as the previous week it was absolutely packed! The staff were starchy and matter of fact, there was no emotion. They said all the right things though. Both my wife and I ordered the steaks and I have to admit they were excellent, I couldn’t fault it, I was also impressed with the vegetable combination. It consisted of mushrooms, peppers, courgettes and spinach which complemented the steak quite nicely. We also got some chips which were just ok. With the meal voucher we got a glass of white wine which tasted cheap. As we had enjoyed the meal so much we ordered desserts. This was probably a mistake as I ordered a chocolate fondant with cold chocolate sauce! So as is the case so often with hotel restaurants we had a mixed experience.

We had a company Xmas party for around 50 people and the tables looked nice, the disco was fun, the drinks did the job, but the food was appalling for £45 a head. Tiny watery prawns, small portions, worst turkey ever, it was all stuffing and a bit of burnt turkey, black sludge gravy that tasted awful, three tiny roast potatoes, and a supposed cheesecake that was like a two layer mouse from the freezer section of a cheap store. Considering I went to the other Mercure in MK the week before and enjoyed proper food, you wonder what is happening at this hotel. I think its called profiteering. Don't expect any repeat customers on that food.

Attended the restaurant with my wife for our wedding anniversary.I have not been there for years and was impressed with the look of the restaurant. There was quite a bit of noise from the bar area however the staff informed us that the noise was from guests on their Christmas party who would be moving to the function room.We ordered the steaks served on hot stones with vegetables and chips. We also had the steak Diane sauce. Beautiful steaks and a lovely restaurant with attentive pleasant staff.I would definately eat there again.

Two of us call in here for a mid-week lunch. One of us is disabled, and although the bar & restaurant is down a few steps there was a mini lift which the staff operated and were eager to do so for us. So thus was a good start. A member of staff wheeled the wheelchair through to the restaurant. (a nice touch). We were seated straight away. We were given a bar menu. It was not long before we were asked if we would like to drink. It then went a bit down hill from there. The drinks took ages to come. Our food order was taken. A Caesar salad, with salmon as an extra and a three egg cheese omelette which came with chips and salad. The food took ages to arrive. I appreciate that the salmon and omelette where freshly cooked but the restaurant was practically empty. Once the food was delivered the staff just seemed to disappear, and no one came to ask if our meals were ok, so I was unable to tell them that they had forgotten the croutons on my salad. We had empty plates in front of us for quite a while before they were cleared away. We ordered dessert, fresh fruit salad and sticky toffee pudding. Every sticky toffee pudding I have every ordered has always come with a toffee sauce and then cream, ice-cream or custard on the side, but here you can have toffee sauce OR cream, ice-cream or custard. Strange as without the toffee sauce it is not a sticky toffee pudding!Again we had to wait ages for the bill. The staff just seemed to keep disappearing for age. The food was tasty (apart from the crunch in the salad and the sauce on the pudding) and I would come back, but, only when I have plenty of time to kill.

I am not sure if they were just having a bad day or whether this is typical of their Sunday lunch presentation. Disorganised service. Cold Yorkshire puddings. Another table did not receive their Yorkshire puddings and had difficulty in getting the waiter to understand that they were missing. Day old bread roll with the soup. Only one roll despite the description suggestions there would be more than one. Roast potatoes were in facf not roast potatoes.Cheesecake had a plastic feel to the jelly that was on top and more of an artifical taste than Strawberry. Would not be recommending based on my visit.

This is a typical business/function type of hotel similar to others in the area.Myself and a colleague decided to try the Moltens Brasserie as we were arriving quite late after a long days work and drive. We were advised to book a table as the restaurant was becoming fully booked, we didn't book. When we wandered down to try the very busy almost fully booked restaurant it was apparent that no diners were present. I will not go into specifics here save to say I have never in my 45 years of hotel usage been presented with a worse meal. I am sure they can do better and looking at previous reviews, many have complimented the kitchen and its offerings. The hotel was fine as you would expect, a very big comfy bed and well appointed room. Very nice staff too. I did mention to the front desk staff about my dissatisfaction and was offered a small reduction of my bill. Will I go back? Probably not.

The room was set up well and made way for a great corporate dinner.Staff were very attentive and acted efficiently and professionally to deliver food and drinks out to us. The food was great - I had the ribeye steak served sizzling on a volcanic stone to cook to personal preference.I would recommend the Moltens Restaurant, especially for corporate/business lunches or dinners. The food looked and tasted impressive and the service was excellent.

We stayed at the hotel for two nights over Valentines weekend and went for a meal in the restaurant on our first night. We both ordered well done sirloin steaks but they both came out pink in fact still bleeding! We (never done it before) sent them back to be better cooked but one came out better done but still a bit pink and the other was still bleeding! It was sent back and I had the chicken instead. The waitress was very apologetic but as we said to her it wasn't her that cooked (or didn't cook) the food. Other than that the food was nice especially the breakfasts.

Maybe it is expecting too much to want an atmosphere at a Milton Keynes Mercure on a Monday night, but there certainly wasn't any! I was dining alone, as were a number of other customers which doesn't help - but seeing the staff spending most of the night folding napkins doesn't help ...Had spinach soup to start which was fine. Then a fillet steak served on a hot stone. Meat was very good quality and it was an interesting way to serve it. Nice peppercorn sauce (extra) and chips meant I enjoyed the meal a lot.Would eat there again if staying on business, but not sure I'd rush back otherwise.

Worst afternoon tea I have ever had and I've had a lot. We were on a Groupon deal for a 'Mad Hatters afternoon tea' for a party of 8 and it was terrible.Despite being the only table there, we waited 45 minutes for teas to come out which were just breakfast tea bags in a 70s style teapot. We also had to wait a further 30 minutes for dry, sad looking sandwiches to come out and the cakes were dismally bad & if we weren't so hungry I don't think we would have eaten them. I should add there was a wedding on this particular afternoon at 4pm, so this might explain why we were given a back seat with regards to service. All in all there was nothing wonderous about the experience & it was exactly like a poorly executed normal afternoon tea with a small smoothie to drink with it (which I later found out was the 'drink me' potion after searching for the menu on their website).I would never go back there for any type of food after that experience.

Was bought a voucher as a birthday present,. Conditions require pre booking and specify an expiry date. Hotel has no availability at all before the expiry date and will not extend, making the voucher un redeemable despite being paid for. This happened in June, all emails have been ignored and no phone calls ever returned. Hotel is continuing to sell these, with a Sept expiry date now, but their staff confirmed yesterday there is no availability at all before Oct and that no expiry dates will be changed. Even they admit it is a clever scam.

I came here with my mum for the mad hatter's afternoon tea on an Amazon local voucher. It was very disappointing. Vintage crockery was pretty and mad hatter's theme is a good idea. However, the cakes were overly sweet, basic and they did not taste homemade to us. We also thought it was strange that they served a glass of yoghurt to us as part of the afternoon tea... I stayed here as part of an organised coach party. The hotel and room were both very nice but the restaurant service severely let this hotel down. The food was not up to scratch, poor choice and poor quality. Breakfast was a joke, one morning we waited one HOUR for our bacon to arrive, everything else was then cold! The orange juice they offered was either watered down or fruit cordial? I asked for a cup of tea and was directed to the hot water flask in the corner of the restaurant to make my own! If I wanted flask service I would have gone camping! Also, one morning we were woken up at 7am by a pre-recorded telephone message offering us the hotel's wedding service package - this sort of thing is unacceptable, I do not expect to be woken up this early by cheap advertising. I will never stay at this hotel again.

Popped in for afternoon tea. What a major disappointment. A few dreadful sandwiches (dry) with cheap poor fillings such as cheese & pickle and wait for it....7 cakes each or 14 for the two of us ! What an imbalance, They forgot to lay out napkins and knives so had to fetch them, then they forgot to lay out tea spoons for the tiny amount of jam for two people so had to go back for them. This was a cheap dreadful experience and best avoided.

Could be really good, but needs to know what it is!We bought an Amazon (similar to Groupon) voucher for a steak meal and had terrible difficulty using it because the hotel was so busy. Having finally booked a table for 8pm we were then rung several weeks later to ask if we would eat at 9pm. I declined because I thought it was too late. We were offered a table at 8pm the following day. When we got there, it was chaos. There was a coach party just leaving, an anniversary party (complete with Rat Pack singer) in the bar area next to the restaurant who was so loud, I couldn't have a conversation with my husband who was sat opposite me.Tables were being cleaned and re-laid all around us and I thought what a shame it was .... the food and the staff were lovely ... but it was as though the hotel are trying to do everything for everyone and really missing the mark.We rushed our food, ate and left - weaving our way through people dancing in the entrance to the restaurant. A member of staff said that they thought the hotel was getting it wrong. I personally think that they are going all out to get what business they can - but forgetting that in their haste to get people through the door, that they need to provide a high quality service too.Felt let down and that we had wasted our time and money.

We had been to the Mercure on the Friday night for a tribute evening and had a wonderful night for which I wrote a glowing review. With this fresh on our minds the same night we booked for Sunday lunch for 6 of us including both our mothers as a treat. They described how it worked like a carvery and on the sunday at 1pm I loaded the mothers in the car and off we headed for roast beef. On arrival at the restaurant there was no wonderful smell if roasts nor any sight of a carvery. The waiter showed us to our table and we noted that there was only one other table full. He then presented us with menus, we said that we all wanted a roast dinner and he looked sheepish then announce that the chef hadn't cooked a roast as we were the only table that had booked. We said that we had only come as we wanted a roast, he offered us steaks cooked on hot stones. We asked why no-one had bothered to call us as we would have cancelled but just blank looks. It was a joint decision to leave and find a restaurant that served a proper Sunday roast dinner. With service and attitude like this it's no surprise the restaurant was empty at prime time on Sunday.

Went here as part of online deal.Service was at times a bit sloppy and staff need to know what comes with the meal(asked waiter does the steak come with any mushrooms or other garnishes-answer no! Lo and behold it arrives with garnishes). Ordered both steaks medium-rare one came well done. The steaks were of good quality though . Did not return the steak, for another as I had already returned a poor quality bottle of Rioja. What we ate was of a reasonable standard, however I would not return due to what I can only describe as a bit haphazard.

Based on the description & menu I was really looking forward to this meal experience.I had an Amazon voucher that offered me the volcanic rock steak dinner with a starter valued at £61.75 for two people. Excluding drinks that is over £30 each plus service charge so that should be really good at Milton Keynes prices !It was a Sunday evening at 6:30pm and the restaurant was empty. The staff were very pleasant and the decor is very modern but perhaps a bit too business-like.No complaints really except for the background music which was awful - bit too loud and a very poor choice of modern artists. The music reminded me of American sports bars which i actually dislike. There was a limited choice of starters so I opted for the tandoori chicken salad. The list price was £8.00 and I can best describe it as a Boots ready meal which can be purchased for about £2.50. If the chicken had been warm it would have been better. We did not fancy cooking our own steaks so we asked for the sirloin steaks to be cooked in the kitchen. The steaks were indeed nice and cooked as we ordered. We ordered triple cooked chips and a pepper sauce. The chunky chips were extremely dry and I would not recommend them. The sauce was okay and there was one cherry tomato on the plate. With a menu price of £22 this was a rip-off but for what we paid with Amazon vouchers a reasonable dinner. What also surprised me is that I wanted to pay for the extras, wine etc using my credit card and add a tip but was informed that I could only leave a tip in cash. I did leave a good tip in cash ( which is what I tend to do in most restaurants ) but I haven't come across this practice anywhere else. If I did not have cash then the waitress would have been disappointed I am sure.I would have rated this restaurant one point higher, as average, but for the advertised prices in their menu I would have to say it is poor value for money.

We had a Amazon Voucher, the starter Tandori chicken salad, was awfull . It was tasteless, chicken was like the one you buy in Tesco, small slices, definitely not prepared by a chef! I did not eat it, and when the waitress cleared the tables I advised her that it was tasteless and she said I will tell the chef. No-one came to speak to me about complaint! I then had Tuna with a side sauce of Bernaise, well this sauce was cold, I complained only to be told by waitress that the chef said if it's too hot the sauce would spit, yes I agree, but it was Cold! I was then some 10mins later given another sauce which was cold again.I would never recommend this Restaurant, a real disappointing meal

Wasn't sure what to expect as we'd book a group-on voucher. What a great surprise, the food was perfect. Starters were really tasty, lightly spiced, the curries and accompaniments were really good too, not fatty like so many Indian restaurants. The desserts were ok, be nicer if they were homemade - but the fresh fruit was lovely. Wine is overpriced, be worth you popping on a house wine for £14. That said the French Merlot was a nice bottle, but with curry a bit too expensive. The service was perfect, ambience and furnished great too. Will definitely be back with lots of friends. She was advised there was only one sirloin steak left so her husband ordered a rib eye, no one explained that this steak couldn't be cooked on the stone. On raising this with the restaurant after the event, I was informed "they ordered the wrong steaks" and it was therefore implied it was their fault! However, but my sister didn't have rib eye, contrary to the staff, she opted for the last sirloin. The whole point of the sizzling steak experience was lost! Pretty crap service I think

Would have been better going to McDonalds...... we went to the cafe here at 12:30 on a Friday and it didn't look busy. Waitress who took out order advised there was a 30 minute wait on food which would have been fine however, after an hour we were still waiting. When the food finally appeared it was clear that some of it wasn't fresh, peas were hard, beans congealed and toasties were hard. Food didn't all come out at the same time and there was no apology from the staff. Shame because the actual garden centre is lovely but next time we will either go to Frosts or elsewhere.

Typical pub which has only modernised a little so still has the true pub atmosphere. Gone is the smoky environment and considerably brighter than the old days but still recognisable as a pub with staff of the ‘old school’. Good range of food though and on this visit we had the most delicious Lasagne which was served with an excellent Garlic bread and nice salad. Add a bottle of wine, couple of deserts and the bill of £56 was not bad at all.
