A hidden gem, set away from the busy shopping areas of Cheltenham, yet within easy reach. Cafe offers a good range of drinks and food for all times of the day, meeting many dietary needs. Seating available both inside and out. Coffee is absolutely delicious. Excellent service. Ideal place to sit and relax. Worth a visit.

This is a really good find. Coffee was good, and hot. Jacket potato was well presented, with freshly cooked bacon. I'm delighted to report that the tables and floor were clean and tidy, and with a bit of background music made for a relaxing atmosphere. Definitely coming back to this one!

Had coffee here with a friend and enjoyed an excellent coffee mocha. The coffee was a little towards lukewarm, but this is how Italian coffee should be served. Probably would advise having 2 small ones instead of a large. Good range of cakes were available and lunch options too. Recommend a visit. Will come back again.

There was only one person serving so service was very slow and we had almost finished our large coffees before the pastries arrived. Coffee was a bit bland, ok but no depth to it, pastries were equally ok. Overall a bit underwhelming.

I love Moka as a cafe, it's one of the few independents in Cheltenham and even though it has fallen in quality over the past few years and is less bustling than it used to be, but it's still one I try to visit when I can. The cafe must be going through a refurbishment period as all the lovely mirrors and paintings which are iconic to the cafe were taken down, I do hope they return! The staff offered my friends and I free pastries as they were about to run out of date which was kind, and the atmosphere was comfortable and calm. The cafe could use a good clean as the tables were a little sticky and coffee-splattered.

I’m a regular at Moka and there’s a reason for it - the coffee’s lush and the guys who work there are super friendly! On top of that, I’ve been super impressed with the new summer menu they’ve come up with. I had the halloumi salad very recently and it was amazing! Would highly recommend this cute independent coffee shop whether your visiting cheltenham (you get a lovely feel for the suffolks and the old spa town whilst at Moka) or on your way to work (have been very recently told they’re now open from 7:30am during the week).

Saturday afternoon visit. We had the special bagel as advertised outside. The Salmon was sparse, maybe they were about to run out. We had tea served in latte glasses, unusual. Still a few hours before they closed but a lot of crumbs on the tables and surfaces. Two teas and two salmon bagels was under £10, so quite cheap for Cheltenham. Please keep the place tidy, it's not like it was busy.

Used to be such a great place to chill out & eat, but last year (2017) was the worst. Hardly any choice as they'd run out of most things & when we did have something there was a stingey amount of olives and cheese. With the kitchen being centre stage, the noise from whistling staff (irritating) banging about with crockery & glasses was deafening and it actually hurt the ears. I'll be surprised if it's open in 2018. Pity as it's a great location.

It was like a blizzard outside and I needed a drink and somewhere to spend a 20 minute wait. Popped in and ordered a coffee. No frills just a black coffee. The Americana was served in a nice big cup nice and hot and proved to be a really nicely flavoured coffee. Not a very up market place as seating was a bit spartan. The chap serving was pleasant and friendly. There was food available but at 1515 hrs was not necessary for me. Had I more time I would have had another coffee. Tidy up and improve the surroundings and this could be a nice place to go. Toilet was outside along the street. A key provided for it's use.

I went into this coffee shop for a coffee and something to eat. The manager was occupied with what looked like the weekly book keeping, occupying a table for 4 - around 12pm. I used to frequent this coffee shop literally weekly when we lived closer. Having moved away, this was my first visit in about a year and unfortunately I was disappointed. It used to be "the" place for fresh cakes, and light lunches, and seats were hard to come by, however today it did not meet the mark. There was only one other customer which would have been very unusual in the "old days" the entire time we had lunch. Myself and my daughter both had sandwiches which were made on pre-sliced bread, with a tiny salad garnish -one slice of tomato and some leaves. The coffee was lukewarm. Very mediocre-Nothing special, I'm sorry to say.

As an old, regular visitor to Moka I associate the cafe with good food, great coffee, friendly service and comfortable seating. It has always been a 'go to' place to chat, connect with the community through its noticeboard, review local artist's endeavours and think. But it seems that Moka has changed, the art, noticeboard, sofas and great coffee are gone and what remains will struggle to survive in the hyper competitive café culture in Cheltenham.

The service was really friendly and the staff were attentive, bubbly and polite. But, I ordered a tea and was asked if I wanted a 'large' and I was feeling thirsty I thought I would treat myself. I was in a group of six who all ordered coffees. My 'large' tea was smaller than a small coffee. Also, it was served in a glass latte mug with a long spoon (what?). I thought the waitress had made a mistake so I politely asked if I had been served the correct size? I had apparently and I was politely shown the 'small' glass tea mug which was 'exactly' the same mug but 2cm shorter. I wouldn't be returning if I want a cuppa. The picture I took was as it arrived - water 2cm from the top. I'd struggle to describe this as a 'large' tea!!

I visited at lunch time with my partner to grab a quick lunch on our breaks from work. We both ordered smoked salmon bagels with a soft drink each. We were asked if we wanted the bagels toasted, to which we obliged. Drinks came out quickly, but unfortunately the glasses were dirty. We notified a waiter and he apologised and quickly brought out fresh glasses and drinks - not a problem. Unfortunately, my glass was still dirty and the drinks were brought out at room temperature. I would really expect ginger beer and fruit juice to be chilled. Shortly after our food followed. The bagels were not toasted and unfortunately my plate was also dirty. Both needing to get back to work, we did not see the point in notifying staff again. After having several excellent meals at the Suffolk Kitchen we both just felt Moka Coffee House was a little lack lustre.

First the good points, a particular ambience in keeping with the area, reasonable value food and drink and the Sunday papers available. Set against this the quality of the coffee has not improved, the service was totally lack lustre and if you look in some of the corners the place could do with a spruce up. I then sat at a table for nearly 15 minutes watching a different young man make my lunch in what I can only describe as slow motion! As for the food, the less said about that the better. Visited this place today, as it looked promising and had been here in the past. The food (salads, sandwiches, tea coffee etc.) and service were all good, albeit the cakes are cheap and very low market mass produced type!! However, at lunchtime when your trying to hold a business meeting over food, the music was completely inappropriate and judging by the staff, clearly for their enjoyment!! with absolutely zero consideration for the customers. So, a politely asked if the music could be turned down or changed to non hard rock, where in complete amazement she said "I might be able to turn it down a bit". So, we struggled to hold our discussions, finished to never ever go back to this place ever again. If you want a lunch time rock concert on your own - this is for you.

We come to Moka every time we come to Cheltenham. The cakes are amazing, especially the caramel shortbread although they don't ever seem to be in the display cabinet so you have to ask. The cakes also seem to change every time we go which makes for a nice change from the generic chains - last time we had an amazing pecan and maple syrup shortbread slice. The only negative to add is the odd location of the toilet - in a separate building a couple of doors down and around the corner from the main cafe - but other than that it is well worth a visit and we will certainly keep going back.

I've always liked Moka - a nice place to chat and catch up with friends and drink good coffee. But the atmosphere yesterday seemed to have changed - a direct result of what appears to be freelancers/home workers using it as an office. Let's hope it's a one-off, not a regular thing. We walked in yesterday to find every single table (which can accommodate up to four people) taken up by one (maximum two) laptop users, and no space for the 4 of us to sit, even though the cafe was probably only 30% full. And frankly even if there had been a table free, we would have felt so inhibited chatting, as absolutely no one was talking, just sitting on their laptops working - heads down. This really can't make much business sense, to run a cafe based on 1 person per table having a coffee that lasts all morning. For every one person sitting at the table there are 3 who are having to leave due to lack of space. I am a home worker myself, and fully understand the need to get out of the house sometimes, but I also recognize that there is a time and a place for working on the laptop, and places where people socialising do not necessarily sit comfortably side by side with people concentrating on their work. Moka - we really like coming to you, but I think you're going to have to decide whether you're an internet cafe, a homeworkers support centre, or a cafe in the true sense. I'm not suggesting banning all laptop-users, but it is about balance. Maybe you can allocate the back room for people on laptops? A 'designated work zone', rather than turning the whole main room over to the silent tappers?! We will give it another go, and hope to find the old Moka back in full swing, but if not we'll have to go elsewhere, which would be a pity.

Nice atmosphere but I wouldn't rush back for the coffee. Server needed correction on the coffee sizes for the two coffees I ordered. Vanilla Pod cupcakes were a treat :)

This is a lovely little coffee shop in a nice part of town. I've been going here since I was a student in Cheltenham in the mid 1990's and whilst many other areas of Cheltenahm have become scruffy and run down, this cafe has remained inviting and very appealing. I now live in the Cotswolds but make a point to visit here if I'm in town. I only had breakfast, but this was all very nice. My only moan would be that the staff put the butter (spread(?)) and marmalade on the toast for you - i'd rather do my own thanks!

Always pop into Moka if I'm out on business for a coffee. Great little set-up they've got going, don't normally eat but whenever I have I've always been pleasantly surprised by the freshness and quality of the food.

Moka is a little gem located in The Suffolks. It has a lovely atmosphere and is the perfect meeting place for friends. Offering a really good selection of coffee, teas and a great herbal range. The food is excellent and there is a whole host of treats to choose from. Love the decor and the ambience. One of my favourite place sin Cheltenham x

Fantastic place. Use it for a range of needs be it business & social. Feel happy meeting clients or taking family & friends here. Always friendly. Rarely quiet & with good reason. Hats off to the staff because they run around & a far friendlier than many other independent coffee houses.

Friendly and warm atmosphere. Support this local independent coffee shop / cafe, nice place away from large global chains...

The hunt for a good coffee bar in continues with Cafe Moka failing to live up to expectations. The flat white was too hot, too strong, with a bitter aftertaste. I had to ask for more milk to be able to swallow it down, sugared (yuk). The menu was sadly uninspiring, mainly bread based, so if you don't like sandwiches then don't bother.

Really like this place. In. Relaxing place and great for a coffee and to read the paper. Not a huge fan of all the food but still nice. Panini or toast good.

A regularly pop in to Moka for a drink and a cake. They do a great selection of cakes and hot drinks; a lovely hot apple and cinnamon in winter as a nice alternative to coffee. The service is generally good and the atmosphere is nice; perfect to browse internet on their wifi or read a book in a corner. Good for people watching too. Would recommend.

We visited weekend, looking for a respite from the horrendous weather. Moka looked to be in a nice part of town, and indeed inside it was quite a nice place to be. All the pastries and cakes looked tasty, although we didn't partake.

Excellent value for money, 2 delicious sandwiches/paninis & 2 drinks for around £7! Great little Coffee shop in the lovely Suffolks area of Cheltenham, definitely worth a visit! Especially like the quirky mirrors inside!

A great location and the high ceilinged, large windowed, ambience is rather pleasant. Thus I tend to venture here when friends visit and on a lazy Sunday mornings. The games and books to entertain kids are a nice touch too. But I agree with an earlier review that the quality of coffee is only average. And the range of food, sweet and savoury, is limited. Service too is a little amateur and the furnishings quite sparse. I have generally felt that the value for money does not fully hit the mark. Yet I do tend to return, once in a while. It would be excellent if Moka could develop a little bit further and become the premier coffee bar in Cheltenham.

Great to break from the Christmas shopping in this cafe. Staff very friendly and tea came with pot of hot water. May be traditional but often overlooked nowadays. Appreciated.

Awful visit today at the regents arcade soho coffee - usually it is so lovely and well staffed. However, today I was greeted with two young girls who were the pinnacle of disrespectful and rude, they wouldn’t stop saying nasty comments to my mother and laughing at her order. Then proceeded to watch us and laugh and made us so uncomfortable we had to leave.

They were short staffed today, which I totally empathise with, and the single serving member of staff did apologise when she got to me, HOWEVER I waited at least(!!) 20+ minutes in line whilst the second member of staff created some posters on her laptop, edited, printed, stuck them up all over (in full view of peeved customers) - the posters stated they would be using takeaway cups because they were short staffed 😆😅 literally help your colleague serve, explain this to me, and give me my coffee. I would’ve walked out like the numerous other people had I not had kids with me. Poor chap in front had to take a seat for a sore back, only hung around for some deal he had on his phone. Personally, felt like it severely lacked common sense. Otherwise fine.
