Moka Bar in Herefordshire, County of

Decided to go to the Mokka Bar for an early coffee and beat any rush. Anyway we managed that and ordered two cappuccino s and a sausage and egg sarnie. The lady serving was delightful and the coffees arrived in no time and they were hot. This is a reason why I am here and not another restaurant nearby in a church. This was closely followed by my sarnie which was almost perfect. A great visit and maybe a swap from the church is needed. ( Not the cathedral). Must add a quick visit to the loos and they were spotless.

This is not some boujee little cafe (although a flat white is available on the menu!) but what I mean is the decor is very much “cafe” that probably hasn’t changed in quite some time. However - the food is SO good. It’s clean, and I feel like it’s the sort of cafe I’d go with my nanna and it’d become our favourite place. Post pandemic I’ve found the places I’ve loved have had to adapt by increasing prices, but also by decreasing potion size. This is not the case here. They’re sandwiches and choc-a-block with fresh (and local) ingredients. Highly recommend the club sandwiches, which are available gluten free. Great selection of cakes (again including GF - and they weren’t brownies!) It’s a really lovely place to have your lunch. Staff super lovely too. Only one thing to note - I am disabled, and there’s no way I can see a wheelchair in there and the toilets are upstairs (without bannisters on both sides) This is the nature of an old narrow building, and no reflection on the business as I have a feeling that they’d do their best to accommodate

This is my Mum's favourite cafe in Hereford so we came here for brunch one Saturday morning. We both ordered the bacon, brie and cranberry - I had it on sourdough and Mum opted for the wrap - both had plenty of bacon, nice chunky cranberry sauce and thickly cut brie. The staff are really friendly and serve you quickly and efficiently. Overall, brilliant value for great food - definitely recommended.

Staying close to the Moka, following a trip advisor search we chose Moka and where not disappointed. Opening times are slightly later than listed here(9.30) but we had a wander into the shops not far away and came back. Everything was lovely. Nice cup of tea with a pot of hot water to top up.👍

A great venue in the centre of Hereford. Snack type food always beautifully presented and prepared. The staff are very friendly. Very convenient location. Can highly recommend.

We came in for breakfast this morning and had a full English and a yummy sausage sandwich- nicest sausages I have tasted in ages! Friendly ladies serving us and lovely food - what more would you want. All round good experience.

What a fabulous wee find this is. Superb cooked breakfast/ brunch, served all day unlike others in the city. Great food, great service, super friendly and very good value. 5/5 :)

I haven’t been to the Moka Bar for ages, but my usual “cafe” was closed due to staff shortages. Anyway went back and had two coffees and a sausage and egg sarnie. The staff were lovely. The great coffee arrived in no time. The sausage and egg sandwich was huge and was well filled and the egg was runny. Hey just what I wanted. Absolutely no complaints. I was fairly early on a Saturday morn. I know it fills up later. A good visit and I was pleased with the whole experience.

One of Herefords hidden gems. I have been going here for years. The cakes are amazing the staff super friendly.

Stopped here for a scone and hot drink whilst wandering around Hereford. Welcoming and the food well presented. Nice finishing touches. Definitely to be tried. The bigger menu looked appetising too so will try again when in the area.

Sandwiches are really fresh with good quality ingredients - the bread is lovely! There is also a good varied lunch menu to suit all tastes. I regularly meet up with family for lunch and we all agree it is our new favourite place for lunch. Helpful staff and reasonably priced too.

Well. This is such a hidden gem. Took the wife and dogs for some light lunch and well it was superb. Highly recomnend this place. The staff are all shamazing

Called in today for breakfast with my wife. Staff seemed to spend all their time chatting and eventually when my wife's breakfast came the eggs were cold as was the toast! Probably too busy chatting to check if the meal was ready to serve?

Lovely wholesome food, generous portions and friendly staff. We had a baked potato with Coronation Chicken and side salad and a chicken bacon and avocado club sandwich on ciabatta with side salad. Both were delicious. Good coffee too.

We recently had the afternoon tea delivery for Mother’s Day. It was fab, lots of it! Lovely selection of sandwiches, mini quiches, sausage roll, and cakes. The scones were amazing, as was everything else. We would highly recommend and hope that this is available again. Extremely good value for money.

I stopped here to catch up with a friend for a coffee as it was always the place to go when I was growing up in Hereford. I must admit I haven’t been so disappointed with a coffee in a long time. It was extremely watery and lacked any creaminess or depth of flavour. To add to this, it was blisteringly hot which is never a good sign for a coffee. I must admit I had high hopes for this cafe from the word of mouth and long standing reputation this shop has, but I was extremely disappointed and will not be returning.

Really good value for money had a Chelsea Bun and a coffee. The bun was exceptional full of fruit and very tasty. It is on the small side and tables are tight. Staff are always very friendly.

Stopped for coffee and a bite. The coffee was ok, the savoury scone was unusual and delicious.Unfortunately disappointed to hear a waitress going to give the toilets a quick mop, carrying said mop and no bucket, returning with said mop, put it down then immediately picked up some clean cutlery .... I don’t need to say more ... A little worrying !

As a regular customer I can highly recommend Moka Bar to anyone! Delicious home cooked food with local ingredients and at very reasonable price.

This is a lovely cafe in the heart of Hereford, a great menu wether you want sandwiches panini, also a specials board, I had the homemade fish cakes delicious, my partner had the chicken curry

Visited as a large group on a busy Saturday. Staff were great, moved tables to accommodate us all. We had a few different things from the menu including club sandwiches and jacket potatoes, all were delicious and tasted really fresh. We all left very happy and very full.

Food is good but attitude of staff needs addressing. Found them rude and Not accommodating. Will not be going back

We were fished in, on passing by down this pretty cobbled shopping street, by a chalk board offering a special of lime, coconut and chilli kebabs. The chicken was soft and tender and delicious. Accompanied by a mango, chilli and coriander salsa, and a vegetable cous cous. Totally delicious.

We popped into Moka Bar for a light lunch whilst out shopping. The sandwiches were freshly made to order and were generously filled. I had smoked salmon & cream cheese on granary bread and they were very good. It would have been nice if they had been served with a wedge of lemon just to give a little lift. I’m sure had I asked they would have obliged as the staff were very friendly & attentive.

Gorgeous lunch, fresh ingredients and fast service. Cakes were also delicious. Excellent value for money too.

This cafe has been a favourite of mine for what must be nearly 10 years. It is my first choice when in town for a light lunch.

Stopped off for lunch without knowing anything of the establishment. Had a lovely lunch and service was good and friendly and the prices good value. Cakes/deserts looked lovely too but sadly didn't have room!

Fantastic food, mince pies are the best I have ever tasted and their deserts are all home made and to die for, the service is always friendly and the food hearty and plentiful.

This is an independent, superb small Café/Restaurant, today had a mini breakfast which was well presented, fine tasting bacon & sausage, correctly cooked fried egg and granary toast. Their coffee is excellent ( we are coffee snobs!!!)

We ate lunch on a busy Saturday. There were very few free tables but when we sat down we were given menus quickly, followed by a friendly request if we were ready to order or needed more time. We ate a jacket potato and a special, both were really tasty and other plates which passed us look just as good. Prices are reasonable but the service is excellent and we will definitely return

Love the cakes at this place. Great price and always cheerful. The carrot cake is the best i have ever tasted.

Staff go above and beyond, the prices are extremely reasonable and the atmosphere is very welcoming. It is a shame it is rather small and so you are lucky to find a table at peak times but that cannot be helped and it would be a shame to loose any of the busy and lively atmosphere, well worth waiting for a table!

We ate from the menu not the specials board. Wraps and jacket potato. All fine but uninspired. Flat white arrived scolding hot.. Not a good sign. Squirty cream for the scones. Good atmosphere, friendly staff.

Went for coffee and cake here, staff were very nice and relatively quick! Very small place though so can be hard to get a table - take this as a good thing as it seems to be filled with locals!

This place is number 1 for scones cakes and treats. Lovely staff who know how to treat their customers.

Went for a quiet monday lunch with my wife. She ordered a toasted wrap which was fairly enjoyable although the salad served with it was tiny and had not even the slightest trace of dressing or a vinegarette. I ordered a chicken tikka kebab which was a delight served with a raita mango chutney and an absoutley amazing onion pickle.

After visiting the Cathedral we managed to get a table for two in Moka Bar it's a small cafe with tables really close together and the friendliest staff. The mushroom omelette I ordered was excellent and I would have given an extra star but was disappointed with my coffee it was lovely and hot and I did drink it but it was definitely not a flat white. A shame but I would call again if in Hereford because the food was very good - I would order a cappuccino next time.

Visited a few times over the years, but this was our first visit to Hereford for a long time and thought we would give Moka a try.

Lovely place, lovely staff, quality food and drink. Well worth a visit. If you are unsure what to have go for a fruit scone with jam and cream they are awesome. A nice relaxed atmosphere with friendly staff.

We managed to get a table for two of us. We sat next to the front door which didn't close properly. So we kept getting up to close it after customers left it open.

On leaving the cathedral we felt in need of a coffee break and came upon this place down a narrow street. Ordered coffees and a delicious caramel apple cake with lovely ice cream - naughty but very good. Will visit again.

Visited The Moka Bar on Monday for a very rushed lunch with a friend after walking around most cafes in town unsuccessfully!

The cafe is small and cosy with amazing looking cakes on offer. The menu is very good and the food was excellent. Well worth a visit.

The Moka Bar is my favourite place to eat in the day in Hereford. Jane and her staff provide a service way and beyond,always with a smile! The Coffee is to die for and the food fresh and tasty. The menu is varied from scrumptious cakes to full meals and the blackboard menu is changed regularly. It's a must for anyone visiting.

While on a trip with Sixty Sixty of Merthyr Tydfil ,and while walking back from the Cathedral we spotted this Cafe and decided to give it a try. Although I use a walker we managed to get a table as the cafe is not that big, but very nice. Lovely selection of both savoury and sweet . My friend had the Strawberry and Mango Swiss Roll and a pot of tea which was really nice and I had the Cream Tea, which was nicely presented - little pot of Strawberry jam, Strawberries, Clotted Cream and I had the choice of either a plain or fruit scone, I choice the fruit scone and I also had a Cappuccino. I t was very nice. Cafe was nice and clean and the staff were very friendly and helpful. If we go on a trip to Hereford again, we will definitely come here again.

This is a great find, called in for lunch 2 weeks ago, very busy but managed to fit us in. Very friendly & helpful staff, food was great & our desserts of Lemon morange were outstanding, will definately be going back.

Good food at a very reasonable price. The only drawback is the lack of space. I would probably visit more often but nine times out of ten when I go there I cannot get a seat which probably shows how popular it is

We popped in for a mid-shopping cake and coffee and were greeted by the friendly owner. I had the best fruit cake ever and my wife's scone was delectable. We will be back for a full meal next time.

We have been to this café several times. Although the tables are quite close to each other, when we have been it hasn't been too crowded. The food has always been very good, we often have jacket potatoes and salad, and the cakes and pastries are wonderful. The staff are always friendly, the service is very quick but nobody tries to rush you out.

We had a lovely lunch here. The food and drinks were first class in a relaxed atmosphere with magazines to read. There was no free wifi but this added to the ambience. The staff were friendly and efficient.

I was about to take my kids for lunch elsewhere when I discovered their grandparents were in the Moka Bar nearby so we thought we would call in here instead. For a Thursday lunchtime in the Easter holidays it was very busy. We discovered my parents at the back, the tables are squeezed in and after a swap of tables we were seated. Immediately the waitress was with us before I had even picked up the menu, however I still ordered. My boys had bacon sandwiches and I had a ham toastie. I would like to see a bit more for my money to be honest, £5 each, maybe some chips or crisps to go with, however it was a pleasant lunch out and the kids were extremely well behaved.

Popped here for lunch one day and was quite nice-I had a coronation chicken sandwich which was nice although as there was so much filling and the sandwich was cut into quarters it made it very difficult and messy to eat so ended up trying with a knife and fork and gave up before I'd eaten it all! It was lovely though.

First time for us to go to the Moka Bar. Good menu, fantastic cakes, prices very competitive. All the staff were very helpful. Home made soup seamed very popular on the day. Toilets in first class condition. Can't ask for any more. We will call in the Moka Bar again when we are in Hereford. So give it a go... Mike

Just a brief stop, but found this place by good luck! Fairly basic menu but excellent choices. I've had the toasted chicken, bacon, mozzarella and sundried tomato wrap, it was delicious! Coffee good, service nice and pleasant and a charming decor! See you again sometime.

On a visit to Hereford we noticed that the bar was busy so selected it for lunch out. I had a fantastic mushroom and bean hotpot. My sister choose the liver and bacon and wanted to lick her plate. Excellent meal , good service, highly recommended

Popped in for coffees and cake, and was not disappointed. It is mince pie season and I could not be happier. The mince pies here are fabulous, as is everything else on the menu, the staff are friendly and the atmosphere is welcoming. We will be back.

I've just munched my way through a couple of Scones from The Moka Bar and they were perfect. Excellent price, lovely staff and huge Scones.

We visited Hereford for first time in 35 years and found this little gem. Yes, a little compact when busy but has a charm about the place. Lively, friendly staff, good choice of well presented food. We must have liked it as we came back the next day before leaving for home.

My friend and I ate here at lunchtime today. We both thoroughly enjoyed a lovely meal. I hade the homemade meat pie which was chicken ham and leek, with creamy mash, carrots and runner beans. It was absolutely delicious. My friend had the fishcakes with salad and chis. She said hers was lovely too. There were some delicious looking cakes available too but we declined as we were full.

The sandwiches, cakes, flans and scones were so fresh and beautifully presented all covered in non crush boxes, loaded into my car when I parked nearby by the staff. Everything tasted delicious at our friends 82nd Birthday Party. She was thrilled how very pretty it all looked. Many thanks to Jane and her staff for looking after our needs and making us feel very special. Great service, thank you.

A welcoming spot for lunch, with good choice in the menu. Vegetarian options were tasty and service careful and unobtrusive. Nice atmosphere.

This restaurant is always my first choice for a casual lunch in Hereford. The food is consistently super and they have a great range of home made cakes!

A very busy and rightly so eatery. Staff were really friendly and the meal we had was fabulous, especially at the price. Would not hesitate to recommend this establishment to anyone. Their cakes are stunning too.

So we went to the Moka Bar for lunch ... it's a long time since I've had anything other than coffee here but I'd heard good things about the food. I ordered the fish platter (mackerel pate, smoked salmon and prawns) with granary bread and salad. It was great!! Highly recommended. Best meal out I've had in a long time. The portions were excellent (almost too large). Only comment would be that the prawns were in a great chilli sauce that I loved - but that wasn't noted on the menu or by the waitress and so, if someone didn't like chilli, they'd be surprised. The salmon was excellent, the pate was lovely ...

Still one of the few places in town with waitress service. Great cosy atmosphere with good service. A range of home cooked food with daily specials. Large selection of cakes, also all home made, with vegan and gluten free options. The best scones in town by a long way.

This is the loveliest little cafe in Hereford! Its always must when I'm visiting family. It has a range of great food from classic Jacket Potatoes to daily specials. The staff are always warm and accommodating and food is always super yummy. I would totally recommend this place to everyone!

This bar/restaurant offers good value for money. Very friendly staff and excellent food. Perfect for a relaxing lunch on a day in the city. The soup of day is a real treat. We could warmly recommend this place to anyone visiting Hereford !

We called in for lunch whilst visiting my father. And it was absolutely delicious. A loverly place to eat. It has a real warm feeling. The food was home made and yummy. The coffee was superb and the cakes amazing. We really enjoyed everything about this charming place can't with to revisit very soon.

Ok place, staff nice, coffee and food average, could get better for less at neighbouring M&S.; Seating very 80's, possibly from the now defunct cafes at Maylord Orchard..... Not recommended with a mobility impaired person.

Hi my name is Mrs Maria Reed. I am part of a Care's Group from Pontypridd. My colleagues and I visisted Hereford on Wed 18th May. Can I just say what a wonderful experience and welcome we had. The food was home made and service was with a smile and very quick. If I ever visit Hereford again I will most certainly call again and recommend to everyone I speak too.

Tucked away on a delightful walkway through to Hereford Cathedral, this hidden gem is well worth seeking out. If you want great food and coffee ignore the high street coffee conglomerates that have muscled into Hereford and enjoy the tasty treats that are freshly prepared here.

Both the wife and I go together,and the wife and her sister go, more often, but again today we had a Coronation chicken in a sadwich very nice ....but the thickness of the bread, as nice as it was 3/4 inch thick, and ended up too filling, when you order get you staff to ask thick or thin bread, the bread thickness spolit a meal....

One of my favourite places to eat when shopping in Hereford. Very fresh food. Friendly staff and quick service, only downside is that it is popular so may have to wait for a table at lunch time. Would recommend.

It's always packed, which is a good sign. Sometimes a little too packed for comfort, but worth squeezing in.

It's good to go somewhere where you have waitress service, only a few left in Hereford. Good coffee, good homemade cakes, especially the scones. Arrived in Hereford early on the wettest Saturday in living memory and came across Cafe Moka. It is a very cosy and welcoming little place with a lot of character.Set in 2 rooms the first is where most people sit and the second is a bit less atmosphric. That said it was out the back for us. The Breakfast Menu is mainly traditional and we had a bacon and egg bagette and a sausage bagette which are a little pricey but quite sustantial. Decaff coffee is also served which is a plus for us.I must mention the loos which are a real home from home and lovely and clean. Staff are very friendly and hospitable. Thank you for making an awful morning a bit more enjoyable.

Probably the best cafe in the town I've been using this place for years never fails to deliver and always excellent service value and food

Came for lunch with my gf a few weeks ago. Whilst the food was good, the service left us with a sour taste in our mouths. The waitress plonked some cutlery on our table but didn't set the table- we had to do this ourselves. No one came to the table to take an order so I had to go up to the counter to ask for food. After finishing our meal no one came to clear the table and ask us for a desert/cake even though we waited at least ten minutes for someone to do so. In the end we left and decided to eat cake elsewhere where customers would be welcomed and valued. Never going back again.
