As we were staying in Bristol overnight we decided to come here for Saturday brunch. We’re glad we did as the full Hungarian breakfast was delicious and great value too; the sausage, eggy bread and spicy beans were particular highlights. Coffee was also great quality. Oh and before I forget - service was friendly and efficient too. We normally stay around Temple Meads when we visit Bristol, but we’d definitely make the trip here again. Would thoroughly recommend.

We were always thinking 'we must go in there'. Last Sunday, we were in Bristol and hunting for a brunch. Looked in thru the window and it seemed full. *Sigh*. But the owner popped her head out and beckoned us in. (I mean how often does that ever happen i.e. never!). So immediately we loved the place with that personal touch. Sorted us a table and the service was amazing. So warm and welcoming. Great selection (I went for the Full Hungarian Breakfast!). Seemed a real family affair running the restaurant. Anyway, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and food. Would highly recommend.

Having a weekend in Bristol and I googled for a good place near our accomodation for breakfast. This place had such consistent and positive reviews that we decided to try it. Oh whow we are glad we did!!.And we are also glad we.got there soon after opening!! The place was already buzzing and all the tables being used or reserved. Luckily they were able to accommodate us, as one table wasn't needed til a bit later. I'm glad they did....the food was simple, flavoursome, authentic and well presented. The choice is excellent and the quality high. Considering how busy it was, the staff were helpful and friendly. Obviously popular with couples, friends, families..and with a lively atmosphere. Andaptop/tablet free!! Hurrah for that... if we lived nearby, a daily visit would be required!

We were really looking forward to visiting the Mockingbird having read the Tripadvisor reviews. We were disappointed with what we found, unfortunately. The food is okay - my breakfast was over-spiced, which was a shame, and a surprise, given that I like spice, just not at breakfast time in a dish which isn't listed as being spicy!! I ended up not eating it, I mentioned the thing about the spice to the staff and they seemed disinterested. There are no gluten free bread options. The staff aren't that friendly, and this was on a day when it wasn't all that busy.

Today I met a friend at the Mockingbird cafe in the morning for coffee and perhaps brunch. On arriving, I ordered a flat white and sat on one of the little wooden tables. It's a lovely atmosphere - cosy, quiet and homely. The two guys behind the counter are so friendly and polite, so they make you feel welcome at at ease. I felt comfortable just drinking my coffee (which was brought to me) and reading the newspaper, until my friend arrived. We chatted for over an hour without feeling pressured to leave and it's such a lovely relaxed atmosphere. It's really nice to find a quiet place to just have a catch-up with a friend! After a little while, I ordered a green tea (they use the brand Canton which is great) and my friend had the soup of the day (Pepper and Tomato) which was made freshly and came with some lovely buttered sourdough bread. I tried a little bit and it was so tasty! You can tell that the food is made fresh and the guys have a real passion for their ingredients. I noticed the way they greeted some people that they were regulars but everyone who walked in was given a warm welcome. I'd definitely return for lunch to try some of the food and just to have a relaxed coffee!

Me and my roommate spotted this American style cafe a few weeks back and thought we'd try it out as it's just five doors down from our apartment.Walking into a relatively low-key shop front we were pleasantly surprised by the quality of food, generous portion sizes and low prices. I opted for the sausage, egg and cheese biscuits with sausage gravy. It was absolutely stunning, the gravy rich and delicious, biscuits firm without being too stodgy, and the sausage patty was huge. The best and most authentic American style breakfast I've had outside of the states. The portion was so big I struggled to finish, but it was too good to leave even a morsel on the plate. At just £6.50 (£5 without the gravy) the prices are extremely reasonable. I will definitely be going back.

Having heard of this "Deep South" styled café via various friends' recommendations and the odd "places to visit" in Bristol lists, I was glad to finally give it a try.Slightly hidden off Whiteladies road it has a fittingly quiet location. No doubt helped by a sunny, fresh winter day this place did not disappoint. The decor was tasteful, clean cut and refreshingly light. Brunch was supposedly Mockingbirds speciality and by turning up at half past one I was worried that my lackadaisical time keeping was going to have cost me the chance to sample it. Panic not, brunch is served until 3. This paid dividends for me. I had the full breakfast plate which was the perfect antidote to a slight hangover and overall a very enjoyable meal. My friend had the granola and the hazelnut hot chocolate (which she tells me she has gone to great length to recreate at home but is yet to get close). A sly glance at the other full tables revealed to me that basically anything would have been a good choice. As a self proclaimed "coffee connoisseur" or as my friends often prefer "snob"/ "pretentious tit". I was impressed by a nicely patterned and well made flat white that was promptly placed on the table. For some people the pattern, or lack thereof, on top of their coffee is irrelevant ("you just drink it anyway"), but it shows the attention to detail and high level of quality that a café is aspiring to.My only qualm with the Mockingbird is also one of the things I liked. It is a small café. The visible kitchen behind the till is marginally smaller than the seating area and we were lucky to arrive at the right time to get a table. Value wise the brunch was 6.50 and certainly worth it. The staff were all very friendly making the overall experience faultless. As mentioned by others, in a city rich with "alternative" coffee shops, Mockingbird has something about it which actually does make it feel unique. I look forward to returning and trying other meals and would whole heartedly recommend this place. At the till there was a sign that read "tip like an American to get the true experience". I did, because it deserved it.

Really good coffee, delicious grilled cheese and free babyccinos. I really liked the furnishings, magazines to read and friendly staff too.I've given them 4 instead of 5 stars because after taking my drinks order they didn't make it until they'd taken food orders for 4 or 5 other people meaning I was waiting for over 10 minutes. Go here a fair bit, as I live really close and it's always really nice. Great place to do work. The gravy on the breakfast biscuit is a must on the weekends

A cute, well decorated American South themed café, which serves really excellent coffee and great value food, from sweet toast to savoury buttermilk buscuits. The staff are fantastic, I love stopping in here for a chat and a coffee. Definitely worth a visit.

We love studying in here as the cafe is so lovely and light, the breakfasts are incredible and the staff are the most inviting we've ever met. It's such a homely little place and the tea refills keep us going.. We really recommend the breakfast biscuit and the cakes (they're freshly made and taste like heaven)!

There are so many great things about this place! Firstly, the staff are the loveliest and chattiest people. Secondly the coffee is top notch and you'll never get a bad cup. The place looks nice, it smells nice; the food is tastier, more interesting and better value than others such as BTP. Can't recommend enough.

Mockingbird offers a great selection of food with the flavours of the American South, biscuits for breakfast freshly baked daily are a must. For an American themed eatery they haven't forgotten the British love of tea, proper leaf tea and a reminder of when to pour. Great service and great food worth making the effort to find Mockingbird

I love the idea of a quirky American-themed place doing dishes completely outside the normal of what's available. And the space inside is gorgeous when you look through the window (although don't be fooled into thinking the back garden is part of the café).The problem is the execution. Twice I've been in their opening hours and been told that food wasn't available (once run out of ingredients, once just arbitrarily closing early). It really irritates me when a place can't control stock or doesn't stick to hours when you've made the effort to go there.Service is mixed - not hugely friendly, but generally polite. However the soundtrack is fun and in line with the theme.A place I'd like to like more than I do.

Top 5 burgers ever... and I love a burger. Great burger and excellent chips. Highly recommended. Clifton is a such an exciting part of Bristol and if you find yourself there and fancy an honest burger you won't go far wrong coming here.

Highly recommend. Had the Sunday roast. Makes a change to go somewhere which is worth paying for.

Our experience of Pasture Bristol was exceptional! Not from the area, I was shocked that I had to book so far in advance for a table, but the experience was fantastic. We walked in on a Wednesday in November, and the entire restaurant was packed, this was wonderful to see. We were well looked after, and were helped with a presentation of the available Steaks. The restaurant was incredibly clean, plenty of staff so you’re well looked after, the food was incredibly tasty, and I would recommend and plan to visit again.

Once is probably enough. Visited here with a group of friends on a Friday night. The food was okay but certainly nothing remarkable and you’re very much there for the novelty of the experience of cooking on a hot stone. Once you’ve done it once and realised that it’s a terrible way to cook meat, you’re unlikely to go back. The restaurant is themed as a 1920’s speakeasy style place. Like so many midrange places, they have the usual faux cut crystal wineglasses which are far too thick and feel like you’re drinking wine from a mug. The toilets are nice however, be advised that they’re unisex with only two cubicles for the restaurant, and they’re downstairs.
