Microwave restaurant. Update: was the best however after the management changed to the father running it and not the daughter, the food has become very bad. I ordered kebab to pickup i think it was more chicken rather than meat and i think it was pre-made frozen kebab. The minced kebab kobideh was yellow.

Disgusting. If you like microwaved food, then maybe this is for you. If not, I recommend you avoid.

Bristol's hidden secret. Very good food and service. Been a few times but this time we took two couples out for Val's day. 2-3 hours of various meals and drinks. Thanks again to the staff for an excellent evening.

Do not visit this restaurant. There was no chef, no waiters, just one man who kept on microwaving our food from the fridge. The head chef was a microwave, in fact there were more microwaves than people in the entire restaurant. Save yourself the time and money and go somewhere else, you will have better luck with a takeaway shop or even picking up a snack/ready meal from the convenience store.

La elección de los entrantes no fue muy buena, así que se conformó con humus. Pedimos Chengeh Kebab como comida principal. Solo obtuve unas 5 o 6 piezas de pollo deshuesado y una porción muy grande de arroz. Normalmente, la mayoría de los restaurantes sirven al menos 10 piezas de pollo. Cuando se le pidió salsa de mayonesa, se le dio una botella de salsa que parecía muy diluida con agua y sin sabor. No creo que fuera salsa de mayonesa. La comida era muy soso y no tenía sabor. Después de escuchar cosas buenas sobre Mitra, mi pareja y yo hicimos un pedido de solo comer (después de que me dieron de alta del hospital no tenía ganas de salir): las revisiones indicaron que el tamaño de las porciones era pequeño, pero queríamos dar el beneficio de duda. El primer error fue suponer que las críticas anteriores exageraron demasiado las pequeñas porciones: pedimos la fiesta de berenjena que dice que obtienes dos salsas, arroz y una selección de panes. Las salsas eran honestamente 2 cucharadas como máximo y la selección de panes resultó ser un pan plano rancio que era totalmente no comestible. También pedimos una ensalada de sharazi que no era fresca y enormemente cara para el tamaño de la porción que recibimos. Cuando llamamos al restaurante para quejarnos, la respuesta que recibimos fue incompetente y grosero. Después de decirle al hombre por teléfono que el tamaño de las porciones era demasiado pequeño y que no sentíamos el 27. El precio se justificó y la respuesta fue "La comida persa es cara y nos cuesta mucho hacerla". Mi pareja y yo tenemos una amplia experiencia en la industria hotelera y nos pareció increíble que esta fuera la respuesta del restaurante. 4 cucharadas de salsa, un poco de "arroz con azafrán" que era simplemente arroz blanco y un pan plano rancio para 15 es una broma. El hombre del teléfono fue grosero y dijo "claramente no entiendes la comida persa" y "si tenías hambre, deberías haber pedido más" escandalosamente mal servicio al cliente. Las revisiones que dicen que la porción son inadecuadas y la calidad no es buena son precisas. Hay más auténticos restaurantes persas con buena relación calidad-precio en Bristol: no se pierda este establecimiento. Una experiencia terrible en todos los sentidos. Evitar a toda costa.

Excellent food, very tasty and freshly cooked! Kebabs were fairly priced and a generous portion. Starters and veggie dishes over priced and small portions but still excellent flavour! Service was okay. Nice decor and cosy feel to the place. Definitely worth going to try some tasty Middle Eastern food!

hi my partner and myself visit mithra on 5/11/2019 for a meal.my partner sorted out a meal for both of us.first the staff was very friendly and welcome us.we had a very nice starter, to start with our meal.then the main meal came,just what we order.all very hot, very tasty very delicious and presented very well.at the end of the meal, the owners gave us compliment tea.very good meal. very good service all round.hope to visit again.

AVOID Spent £60 on a delivery order. Ordered a mixed starter. £20 should have been £5-£10 it was a small pot of homous& £13 Ordered chicken - not even 1 whole piece of chicken breast. £13 on beef stew its had 2 or 3 small pieces of beef. I called the owner - apparently having rice means you don't get meat in your dish. No apology or offer to compensate. Absolutely ridiculous! Total rip off.

The food was mediocre and lacked any real authentic flavours. The flatbread with the starters was stale and not even warmed. The starters themselves were lacking any punch or earthy warmth that is reminiscent of Persian cuisine. The mains arrived with a large portion of rice, however again that was lacking any flavour and a salad garnish that had seen better days. The meat (Koobideh) was very bland and tasted reheated rather than cooked fresh over open charcoal as it was oozing the oils from it. The owner was polite and we were given complementary cinnamon tea at the end of the meal however considering we were the only customers the service was not great. At nearly £25 per head I felt that I we could have a much better meal and experience at PerKor which is just across the road.

Fantastic restaurant with delicious food served and very pleasant owner and staff. Would fully recommend it to other customers to go and experience for themselves. Highly recommended.

Confusing menu but good good and pleasant staff

All round terrible. Starters were small, with the salad being so bitter it was inedible due to the excessive amount of sour fake lemon juice used for the dressing. Main portions were of decent size, however they largely lacked any flavour. The venue had a weird smell reminiscent of a cat peeing on your sofa. Add to that the prices were not reflective of the standard (ie way too expensive) and they only remembered to mention it was cash only payment upon finishing our meal. This meant I had to leave to go to a cash machine and come back to pay.

We went to dinner with friends. The mixed starter plate was very disappointing: very low in quantity and rather bad in quality. The bread was stale. The mains were only average. Expensive for what it offers. We would not go back.

Oh my god do not go to this place, its honestly sooooooooo bad, Probably the worst restuarant I've been to. The rice was freezing cold we had to ask to heat it up!!! The yogurt was literally 2 spoons of water. It wasnt just the food either their plates,cups knives and forks were all soo dirty This place should honestly close down, i made a google account just to inform people about this..

No me impresionó demasiado la selección de entrantes, así que terminé eligiendo hummus que, seamos sinceros, puedes hacerlo en cualquier lugar. Para los platos principales, tuve el curry de pescado persa, que era bastante sabroso, pero el filete de pescado era de un tamaño muy modesto. Debería haber habido dos de ellos. Uno de mis socios tenía un plato con una pierna de pollo, pero era una de las patas de pollo más pequeñas que he visto. ¿Postre? Helado. Y. . . ? Helado. Excelente. Puedo comprar helado en cualquier lugar. Las botellas de cerveza son pequeñas y caras, pero tenía un Sol que estaba bien, así que pedí otro, pero no tenían ninguno que no estuviera a temperatura ambiente, así que pasé. Sin embargo, la gloria suprema fue la camarera excepcionalmente desatendida y tonta, cuyo inglés parece estar limitado a unas 100 palabras y que nunca visitó nuestra mesa una vez sin tener que ser llamado para tomar un descanso de jugar con su teléfono. La buena comida persa puede ser deliciosa, como solía ser en KooKoo antes de que se mudaran de Gloucester Road a Filton Avenue, pero no volveré a visitar este lugar.

well where shall I start as soon as I seen the plate I knew there was something wrong khobedah it wasn't look liked test NO way near khobedah ,The bread is like piss off wood and the mostokhiyar is literally water and cucumber. I'm sorry I live that comment but very very disappointed pay £22.50 I give tip £2.50 for gd service. And didn't eat my food I'm so glad bristol have Gilan kitchen restaurant bcs the food so unbelievably amazing. Before Gilan kitchen I use to go to London every month just for gd Persian food . Never go back again No recommended

The service was really bad when we visited this place last month. I reserved for a group size of 8 in advance and when we arrived and were all seated, there were only two tables with two were occupied. We booked the table for 7pm but it was not before 10pm the food arrived... Though, they managed to feed and send another group of men before our food arrived, even though they had arrived after us. Not finished yet... The order was messed, the waitress was constantly spilling things which is normally okay but at one occasion just barely missed spilling on one of us.. The plates were brought with missing items, all arrived at random time and one didn't arrive at all. When we asked about it, it actually took only 10-15 minutes for them to prepare it, surprise! We were very surprised it was so quick after all the waiting. Make sure you also go over your check as they made lots of mistake with that, too. They claimed their card machine doesn't work but I went there twice in 6 months, first time we belied but it was the same at the second time as well... They in fact managed to take some of our payment from the card, which stopped working half way the group. I just peeked into their kitchen while we were leaving, there was no chef at the kitchen and their kitchen is tiny to cook! I saw 2 microwaves, I am not sure how they use that of course but very disappointed overall with the service. The food was okay both times (first time we were two and waiting time was about 1h or so, we didnt mind..) but you can eat really anything after being so hungry... Never going back..

Really disappointing. Ran out of koobideh (at a Persian restaurant, on a Friday night - what?!). Starters were small and underwhelming. Rice disappointing. The meat was ok. To be honest, I didn't think it was possible to have a bad Persian meal until I went to this place. I might be skewed because I grew up eating Iranian food so perhaps someone who has never tried it would have found it enjoyable. But I would suggest if that's the case, go to one of the other places in Bristol instead

Ordered take out of 2 starters and 2 mains. The Khaskebad Jud was really bad. Nothing like I have had before in many many Persian restaurants and by my mother in law who is Persian.

Ordered from the ‘vegetarian and vegan’ section in the menu and the okra stew arrived with beef. Food quality was poor and very stingy portions of everything but saffron rice. 1/10

A warm welcome and tasty, interesting food. There is an authentic feel to Mithra. It is excellent value for money, especially with the BYO option (wine or beer also available on the menu if you prefer). It is a great neighbourhood restaurant, with friendly and helpful staff, happy to explain anything unfamiliar on the menu. My second visit yesterday, and I will definitely be back again!

We popped in here for a meal after a visit to the Drapers Arms. It was quiet but the food was excellent and authentic, my lamb and chicken kebabs were very tasty and the saffron rice and salad lovely. Good value

We stumbled across this gem of a restaurant after the recent Afghanistan /Australia ICC cricket match. We were walking up the Gloucester Road towards our hotel and had already decided we wanted to try something new that we can’t get where we live in Suffolk. We both decided on a fish dish, served in a coriander sauce. This description does not do the food justice : flaky firm fish and deliciously spiced and fragrant sauce accompanied by Iranian pickled vegetables as a side dish plus saffron rice. We shared a very generous helping of home made saffron ice cream and the loveliest baklava loaded with pistachios, accompanied by cinnamon tea. The service was wonderful and informative and we have decided our next trip abroad will have to include Esfahan! People of Bristol, I am envious of you having such a great selection of international cuisines on your doorstep. If you haven’t been to Mithra, I urge you to visit as I am sure that you will not be disappointed.

As a half-Brit, half Iranian, I’m exceptionally picky and with that in mind, can recommend this place. The food is authentic and delicious and the service genuine and attentive. The owner is a nice guy who really enjoys seeing guests have a good time. It’s well worth a visit.

Cannot recommend delivery from this restaurant to anyone who is looking for anything more than a frozen meal. I was used to going there quite often, but the service goes worst and worst every time. I ordered kebab, using deliveroo, and all I got was a frozen uncooked meal. I called the restaurant to report this, and apparently, the owner was busy to talk to me on the phone.

While I was quite excited to go to another one of Bristol's Persian dining offerings, we left disappointed. The food was very good but other Bristolian persian restaurants (past and present) have left me more impressed. The kookoo sabzi was missing the indicated barberries (or zereshk) and while the food was good, it was not the best I've had. While the rice was fine, it was quite subtle and got lost in the flavour of the mains. Starters, while quite tasty, were modest in portion size, and while the bread is very good, it comes one piece at a time, requiring you to continue ordering more as you go. The main complaint would be about the service. Our waitress was very disengaged and inattentive, and we were seated in a part of the restaurant where the lighting was off and the table was missing its small vase of wilted flowers. While another member of staff was friendlier and did offer us a free sample of food, we left feeling very underwhelmed with the service and thought that we would unlikely go back to Mithra given the city's other offerings.

I have been to many Persian resteraunts before and this was by far the best. The chef is an artist and the waitress was very attentive. I will be recommending!

A calm, relaxing atmosphere, attentive staff and great food. A solo visit but will be back with friends and family. A great local addition to the Gloucester Road. I hope it does well as well as it should - a far better choice than many of the more well known restaurants in the area.

A small and new Iranian restaurant with a relaxed atmosphere. The kabob (in particular the kabob barg - which melted in your mouth) was excellent! We will be visiting again.

Absolutely fantastic. As someone who is Iranian, this is the best Persian food I have ever had in my life, including what my Aunt makes at home! Food is extremely fresh, and service is friendly. Will surely come back whenever in Bristol.

We came to this restaurant because of friends recommendations and we are disappointed. Our waiter seemed really polite but not very attentive (there was only 2 tables of people that were already eating) We asked for drink order, he said he will come and he didn’t. When he eventually came over, he left us before everybody managed to order starters as another table arrived. And it seemed that he took their order first as they get their drinks and starters before us. When he came back to us, he took the rest of our order but he abandoned us again before we ordered drinks. Fail. When we were trying to order fresh apple juice he said that „it’s not too fresh” so we took fizzy drinks and boys ordered 2 different drinks but they got 2 the same ones, we gave up with explaining him that he made mistake. Not sure if the waiter didn’t understand or didn’t care. Starters cost around £5.50 and were small but quite good. When mains arrived. He called out traditional name of the dish and placed it in front of my friend. I eventually asked him to show us what is it on a menu so we could identify which dish is it and who ordered it. They looked delicious although salad on a side wasn’t too fresh and chicken was really dry. Taste wise, mine was really good but my boyfriend didn’t enjoy his at all. (around £12 per main) We had to ask waiter to take our plates and catch him again to order desserts. At that point we were the only table there so I don’t know why was it so hard to get his attention. Desserts were awesome. We got traditional tea, baclava and ice cream and I can highly recommend it. Summing up. If the waiter was more attentive it would be enjoyable evening. It was a birthday meal of my friend so it was even more disappointing that we didn’t feel welcome there.

Really good food. According to Persian Girl, it was authentic (northern) food. Kebabs taste great, really big portions. Cost is in the average of other restaurants (14-16 pounds per main dish). Staff is really nice, they try to make their best effort to serve you well. The place is nice, comfortable couches and chairs, big tables.

you know your watered down dinner is ready when microwave goes diiiing( you can hear it while no music is playing & staff talk loudly on speaker phones to their friends!! website need spell, grammar as well as fact check (friendships are forged ??!!! goddess if Friendship and Sun, !!!) what they meant is Derived from an Indo-Iranian root *mitra meaning "oath, alliance, friend". In Persian mythology he was a god of light and friendship, the son of the supreme god Ahura Mazda. Worship of him eventually spread outside of Persia, where it was known as Mithraism. if you go there go for grill not anything else is tasteless and water-downed.

It is worthwhile visiting Bristol just to come to this restaurant! The food is amazing and even though I was dining alone, it didn't feel like it as the lady who served me was so friendly. The menu is extensive with good vegetarian options available...

Not first time I’ve been back I go 2/3 every month, every time it gets better, Amazing freshly cooked delicious food, it is very good quality and good portion size, the staff are very friendly and welcoming I would definitely recommend to everyone!!

Food was amazing really fresh. Service was friendly and informative. Meat was so soft and tender. Had the lamb shank which fell of the bone and tasted spectacular. My wife had the mix kebabs. This was also extremely tasty. We finished with an amazing cardamon tea with sublime baklava.

Nice staff and a good atmosphere, but Terribe food!!!! We ordered the veggie platter and it looked great...but when we tucked in we were so disappointed. The dishes all tasted strongly of pickled onion and we’re so oily.

Gloucester Road is littered with independent dining and this one is very very good. The only criticism is that the portions are so big!

Easily the best persian resturant in the country. I have tried many places, cardiff london, Birmingham and even bristol itself. But this resturant is just another league of its own. Great service, friendly staff and THAT DESSERT, home made falloodeh with safron ice cream, authentic persian desert and food. Highly recommended

Think this is a new reasturant. The service is a bit slow and "weird". We have to ask for drinks twice, and we were the only ones there. Its not cheap, service is a bit slow but the food is very good. They are lovely...

Great family atmosphere and brilliant service. The staff are extremely friendly and check on you regularly. The food was top notch, the rice has a touch of safron and the smell of it fills the air. We tried the makhsoos, jooje and ghafghazi and they were all delicious but I specially recommend the jooje kebab. All were beautifully decorated and the see through plates were a nice touch:) 100% recommend!

Friendly, attentive service and great choice of food. Restaurant was clean and comfortable, well taken care of by staff (owners?) who made us welcome even though we hadn't booked. Food excellent, authentically Persian and reasonably priced. Grilled Makhsoos Kebab were excellent. Would recommend.
