Mister Milo's in Scarborough

Unbelievably rude, blonde woman behind the counter! Shall never return and wouldn't recommend at all, couldn't wait to leave. Hardly surprised to see only a handful of people in there, at 12 30 on a bank hol week in May. Spend your money elsewhere, she doesn't deserve any of it!!!

I cannot believe how rude the owner was today. My friend was ready to walk out and when she called her out the owner seemed surprised we had found her rude. I will never come back to this cafe. My poor friend has been to hell and back in the last few month looking after her ill partner and this was the first time we had managed to meet up for a much needed hours break. All this woman did was cause more stress for her. I'm so annoyed . Came home to look at the reviews and can see she's rude to everyone. How on earth this cafe is still open I've no idea. Word gets around this town very quickly.

Had enough of the rude lady. Been going for a while and today she was so rude . Its not even that nice and the toilets were dirty

an absolute gem. it doesn't look much from outside and it's just a sandwich board to announce it. it is 5* you have to visit whilst in Scarborough.

Good hot coffees by the young blonde girl behind counter. Friendly and polite. Nice coffee shop, modern decorations.

Would have been ‘Zero’ stars - but you are unable to do so on TA as we got neither food or drinks ! Climbed the treacherous stairs, went to the counter, ordered food & drinks for myself & my husband. Husband attempted to pay for our order with a MASTERCARD DEBIT CARD. The staff member said we weren’t able to pay by this method, as they incur too many charges ??? Tried to explain that it was a DEBIT card NOT a CREDIT card , wouldn’t listen to us - so we left - never in my life have we ever been refused service, when using a DEBIT card !!! ( unless it says cash only) Im sure they will lose alot of business if they continue. Weren’t many people in the place - I wonder if that is the reason - who knows ? Did the staff member know what he was taking about- i think not.Hope the owner can reply & clarify

Staff were really nice and we had a lovely coffee and cake, service wAs amazing they offered so much to go with the cakes which I was really impressed with. Great hygiene and social distancing measures

Absolutley disgusting place, just been in ordered 2 pots of tea, the lady gave us one pot by accident so i asked my sister to go ask for another two cups and i would go order another pot when i had finished feeding my baby. There was a couple of bits in the cup so we gave it a quick wipe, wasnt a problem at all it only took a second. This old women came up to us snatched the teacups from our table and said if were not good enough then to get out and its a pot of tea for two not four! She was quite nasty and no need to be like that at all. I said we only wanted to give it a quick wipe and we was going to order another pot as we was accidentally only given one. She continued to be rude and said to get out. Been here a few times and the staff are always lovely, but obviously this was the women who owned it but for some reason she had a rod stuck up her. How disgusting to be approached like that!! What a joke, very unprofessional and disgrace!

Lovely little hidden gem. Kids sandwiches, paininis, and hot dogs all delicious.Cakes - huge servings and very tasty. Social distancing and hygiene measures all being observedWould definitely visit again. Doesn't look tired or dated to us, bathrooms clean and beautiful big windows in main area.

This is a good place to eat or have a drink and is good value.It is let down by it's tired image. It needs new smart menus and the windows cleaning. Although the first general impression of the toilets is good the tiles around the windows are in a terrible state. It generally needs some TLC to help it improve.

I am a Scarborough resident and have eaten in Mr Milos hundreds of times, as have my family and friends. Today I ordered a jacket potato with prawns, a meal I regularly order. Un fortunately today the king prawns were extremely cold. I ate a tiny bit of potato and a bit of prawn.I asked the staff if the prawns had just been defrosted and she said yes so I had waited ages for the waiting on staff to bring the meals of my two friends when I asked about the defrosting. I sent the meal back as I was scared of getting food poisoning. The long waiting time meant the prawns resting on the warm jacket had warmed up.The staff refused to get me a replacement meal of beans on jacket, they offered to put beans on the jacket I had started to eat. They refused to refund my money as they said I had eaten half the potato and 3 of the prawns were missing.After a lot of fuss the waitress said that the prawns had been defrosted in the morning and they had come from the freezer which she changed to fridge and she had a thermometer which they test the food with but I was not told this and I am not sure I would gave dared eat them anyway. After a long debacle and the meal reappearing and ne saying I was on trip adviser they reluctantly refunded my money.Such a shame as I liked this cafe and the two guys who are waiters.fancy losing a good regular customer for the sake of one jacket potato.Picture if meal below.

This place is easy to miss as it's on the first floor, above H Samuel Jewellers.I've been here loads of times. The food and drinks are fantastic and the ambience is somewhere between and old style coffee house and a modern cafe, which makes it perfect for young and old alike. The prices are very reasonable and the staff are well-trained and always polite.Can't really fault the place.

Looking for a light lunch and visitors to the area we came across this hidden gem. Upstairs away from crowds lovely and cosy. I had the home made tomato and basil soup, other had sandwich of basil and tomato both excellent. Staff are friendly and efficient. Enjoyed it all and would recommend.

On a wet miserable Saturday we called into Milos for some lunch. I had a jacket potato and Patr had a pannini. We sat on the sofa near the fire! Lovely food, good value and warm and comfortable. Enjoyable.

Having previously visited we returned remembering that we did have a longer than usual wait last time.Ordered a panini and a scrambled egg on a muffin. Had a 30 minute wait- noticed others after us had been given their food turns out our order had got LOST. We were told it was being made right away and offered more drinks, which we declined as we both had some left. Received apologizes which was ok. Next minute this older blonde haired woman came out to speak to us very rude and abrupt, all we asked was for a partial refund because of the wait and inconvenience.She then RAISED her voice to us In front of all the other customers and started blaming US saying they don’t offer free food and we’ve been rude declining their free drinks offer. ( her reason for raising her voice when I finally got speak- she has bad hearing herself, load of rubbish. If you have bad hearing doesn’t mean you shout at other people). How dare a member of staff come out to us start blaming US for their mistake and telling us we can just take our stuff and leave. What an absolute joke horrible rude woman.I was sat with my mum when this happened and I do not take kindly to being spoke to in this manner. We will never return and other customers spoke to us after the woman had stormed off also agreeing with how ridiculous and disgusting her behavior was. Cheap food cheap service.

Forget the fact that you are served by young adults, some of which don't have a clue - what I find particularly hard to take, is that the last two times I have been there they have heavily overcharged me?! Please have an idea when you go to order as to how much it will cost you, that way you know immediately if you're having to hand over more. The food is quite good there, but the charging problems means I won't go back.

this is a must visit place .nothing is too much trouble for Jackie and her staff cakes all made by her ,the coffee in my opinion is much nicer than costa .breakfasts and snacks are available too. worth every penny.

Mister Milo's Scarborough Horrible toilet been like this for 2 years! 669437771 For goodness sake Mr Milos sort out the depressing gents toilet. Not much effort required to finish off the job. It's been like this since Moses was a lad.On a plus note we love the bacon muffins and latté. Staff also remember our order. Nice touch.My dad always said judge a restaurant by its facilities....So .... finish the job in the toilet and I'll rewrite the review accordingly.Yes?

Popped in for late afternoon tea. Great pot of tea, and a large portion of cake. Large seating area. For cold days they put the log burner on.

The bacon muffins are a perfect sandwich. Good quality bacon and not overcome with too much bread.

Called in once again for tea and cake. It was delicious as usual. Only complaint is that I couldn’t finish the cake because it was so large! Will be our “ go to “ place next time we’re in Scarborough.

As a family of six who visited Mister Milo’s around a year ago and had a great experience, we thought we would revisit but this time for some lunch as well, rather than just drinks.

We visited today looking for a drink & sit down. We found both. A welcoming, clean & pleasant cafe above the main shopping precinct of Scarborough, with incredibly reasonable prices & a wide menu of drinks & snacks. Service was quick & at just over £5 for a fruit smoothie, latte & steamed coconut milk it was great value for money & tasty. Will definitely be back!

Mister Milo’s is a great place for a coffee and a bit of lunch. The food is good and reasonably priced. My wife tells me the cakes are to die for and the cheese cake is gluten free and amazing. They have a good selection of gluten free options on the menu. We visit most times when we are in town.

If you want a lunchtime or afternoon meal \ snack this is great. The menu is varied, the staff put the effort into preparing and making your food \ drinks presentable and tasty. Nice.

My daughter and I usually go here for a coffee and a bite to eat. The staff and food are great. Unfortunately the manager lets the place down dramatically. She flounces around arrogantly and looks at you like she's just scraped you off her shoe. She opened the windows wide whilst we were sat in front of them without asking if we minded. The wind was cold and very quickly so was our food. We definitely won't be going there again!!

My wife and I struggle to find a decent café in Scarborough but have recently found Mister Milo's upstairs in Westborough. Good coffee in pleasant surroundings and really nice bacon muffins. Well worth a visit.

I am genuinely saddened by events this afternoon. Mister Milo's has for years been to us the best place to stop for lunch or coffee and cake while shopping in town. The food is good and the staff always friendly, polite and helpful. A shame then that the same can certainly not be said for the management. By nature I avoid confrontation but I will hold firm to my principals and today when other customers remarked on the proprietor's rudeness I felt obliged to approach her.

Not the first time I've visited but great service, good food & reasonable price every time. A hidden gem.

Really enjoyed the milkshakes here - nothing too fancy but really tasty. Tuna sandwhich was really nice along with the cakes. Great service just wish it wasn't so hidden! Perfect for a snack.

Someone recommended this coffee shop to us and we weren't disappointed. They do meals, snacks and drinks. We only had a cream scone and a latte but it was absolutely delicious. The service was equally superb.

Popped in once again for tea and cake. It was very busy and they seemed to be short staffed but the man serving remained unflustered and dealt with customers one at a time, dealing with each order without compromising on service. Would recommend to anyone looking for a break in a place with a lovely atmosphere.

I have been here a number of times and have always liked the food and the friendly staff. However, on our last visit I had the misfortune to meet I believe the owner, going by the person as described in other negative reviews .

Whenever we visit Scarborough we always call in here for tea and cake and it's always lovely. Today was no exception. Pleasant staff, nice pot of tea and yummy chocolate cake-all very reasonably priced.

Stayed at a holiday , so decided to have a day in scarborough which was quite near, we decided to have a coffee, and saw the Board advertising Mister Milo just outside this door, saw the stairs wasn't to sure myself, but my husband and myself we would give it a go. What a surprise it was, I expected a small little place above this building, but it was lovely and open and large area, with a log burner going and comfortable seating. We had a drink and a slice of cake, it was really yummy. The staff a young man was very polite and helpful. We will definitely go back when in the area.

Always pop in for a coffee and toastie when I'm in town and never disappointed! Always delicious and serve good quality coffee. Definitely recommend!

Visited here for 1st time yesterday, have passed by loads of times but because you go up big flight of stairs I've never ventured in as didn't know what to expect. So glad I've finally been in. Lovely coffee an gorgeous selection of cheesecake an cakes. I had a slice of each, well worth the calories. I never tried the hot food but panini and jacket potatoe that went to nearby table looked lovely. Can't wait to go back.

I've visited here a few times. Coffee and hot chocolate have always been good and reasonably priced. Welcoming atmosphere. Log burner is a great touch. Plenty of space. Decent service.

Don't come in here to often but when I do I always receive brilliant service. Their coffees are excellent and you always walk in to a warm welcoming cafe.

I went with some friends for morning coffee, never again. We were served by a very pleasnt young lady at the counter as we sat down at the table we were approached by the Owner who told us and the Counter assistant that we should not have ben given a tray each for our refreshments even though they were all bought seperately and then was shouted at by the Owner for putting our coats on the spare chair at our table

It was raining so we decided to nip in to Mister Milo's instead of schlepping up to our usual favourite of Mojos. What tipped it was the blackboard outside saying children's meals were available. It was packed, which should be a good sign, but the tables are cramped and small, too small for four people to sit comfortably. There is NO separate children's menu. When my husband went to order sausages, chips and beans (from the very limited choice of hot food for kids including no children's drinks other than very expensive adult smoothies) he was told that he couldn't have beans, despite them ordering a jacket and beans instead! Service was slow, the guy behind the counter was unhelpful as we weren't standard customers, and there was nowhere to put our folded up pushchair. If you are here with friends it would probably be a great place, but not for families with young kids.

We decided to look for somewhere for a light lunch and called into Milos. It was a very cold day and we managed to find a seat near the fire, on the sofa. It was very busy. We both had baked potatoes and a drink. Excellent food, a really warm and friendly atmosphere. Well worth a try.

Food and drink sensibly priced, staff friendly, do mot be put off by queue and short wait when cafe busy it will be worth the wait. All the food is tast and nicely cooked or baked.

I used to go to this restaurant nearly every week with my sister. We usually had coffee and toasted teacake, both of which were excellent. However the woman who runs the place is so unpleasant that we have decided to go elsewhere in future. On our last visit, after queuing for ages to place our order and collect our coffee, we sat waiting for our toasted teacake and the aforementioned woman walked past our table with it. She realised that it was ours and walked back, never said a word, scowled and virtually threw the plates onto the table in front of us. She has never been particularly pleasant, but this was the limit. There are other places in Scarborough and we will be going to one of them in future.

After previously visiting we decided to return to this cafe as food and service was great.

after been in here several times now I'm more than happy to say this place is my new place to go. nice breakfast sandwich. as a shop with staff all wanting lunch or a cheeky bit of cake we now use this place more as all the food is fresh and tasty the staff have always been friendly and like talking to your friend or family. from fresh home made cake or chocolates to lovely baguettes it's nice to to have some one who has pride in what they serve see you again soon

Came here along with my mother and grandparents, they all had a steamer while I had a Frappe, the drinks were so good! I have a beautiful garlic mushroom jacket potato which was just the right size for a light lunch and it was so garlicy (which is good as I love garlic) was honestly the best jacket I have eaten while out. Staff were so friendly and were genuine (young girl at the counter was exceptional), cakes looked amazing. Food is well priced, will definitely be back again soon! Not enough good places in Scarborough like this! If i had to give one piece of advice it would be to operate table service. Also my Grandmother is disabled and had trouble with the stairs getting up but that was to be expected for a 1st floor cafe. But apart from that I could not fault it!

Lovely little cafe, vanilla and coffee cheese cake sublime not too sweet just right served with single cream..vanilla latte perfect, big comfy sofas nice painting which are for sale and little dress prom shop.. nice back ground music. I was well chilled and the staff were polite efficient and friendly great customer service, main meals take a little while to come but its all fresh and cooked to order - happy days ill be back...

This cafe has a relaxed atmosphere. We had drinks and cakes all of which were tasty. There is plenty of space and the whole cafe is clean and well presented.

Having visited Mister Milo's whilst in Scarborough last February we decided to pay a second visit to verify whether it was as good as our first visit.

Only downside is that it's upstairs. But once there lovely for snack or a leisurely tea or coffee break. Nice selection of cakes, not good for those on a diet. Still want to shop? Small dress shop inside for that prom dress.

I come to this cafe regularly as being lactose free they offer soya milk. It is normally a lovely cafe and I enjoying going however on this visit I have never been treated so badly in my life, the manager was so rude. I ordered a baked potato but as i had an operation the pervious day I was unable to eat the salad and coleslaw so requested to have this on a side plate so my mum could enjoy it as we had to pay for it anyway. The manager in a very rude tone told me this would not be allowed as it was a complete meal. If it wasn't for the patient kind waitress who came and apologised for her managers behaviour we would of walked out.

Excellent food.. plenty of choice for special diets. The staff are cheerful, friendly and helpful. Seating spacious. Restaurant painlessly clean.

We found this by chance whilst wandering through the town. It is upstairs and we could not see any wheelchair access. There are two parts to the coffee shop, seating around a wood stove and tables where you can eat. We had a coffee and cake and it was delicious. It appears to be the place locals gravitate to and was very busy.

After climbing that treacherous staircase, i would have at least expected a decent lunch, couldn't have been further from that. This place is one big heap of a mess. The staff don't know their tea from their coffee - if they were any thicker, you could sell them as double cream. Had to wait god knows how long to be served - word of advice, take more than one order at a time, have one person doing coffee and one at the till. I was only third in the queue and thought next Christmas had come round by the time i was seen to. Nobody seems to work hard in this place. Food wasn't bad but i've had better and they're pretty skimpy on the portions. Get it sorted or you'll fall behind - this world is run by winners and only winners get ahead.

You have to climb. Up a stair case to get to this cafe. But well worth it if you can. Pleasent cafe with a tempting range of cakes. The staff always have a smile. And very reasonable prices

I am fond of Milo's coffee place as the locals know. It is well place in the shopping area. However a word of warning there are steps up to it but once up there you can choose to sit at an individual table or lounge with the newspapers on a number of settees and enjoy an exceptionally good coffee. Light meals can be bought which are just enough to keep you going for the next half of your shopping trip. It is soft and quiet feeling, you are surrounded by some very interesting paintings and photographs so enjoy your rest here.

We visited Mister Milos coffee shop today. This is a very nice cafe/coffee shop. We both had a latte and scone. The coffee was hot and the scone tasty, but not too sure about the candied peel in it. I found the staff very pleasant and helpful, but they are slow. OK if your not in a hurry. Average prices and has a nice relaxed atmosphere. Warning, if you have trouble with mobility forget this place, it is upstairs above Samuel's Jewelers and there is no lift that I could see. Would I go again?... Yes.
