Mirabelle Restaurant in Eastbourne

Much as we love the hotel, The Mirabelle restaurant is vastly over-priced and no longer delivering value for money. My husband’s starter AND his main dish were both just luke warm. My main meal priced at an astonishing £36 was Iberico pork on mashed potato. I would have been happy but the pork was tough as old boots and because it was so poor, an accompanying sprouting broccoli would have been some compensation but obviously the Mirabelle management now wants to charge extra for such luxuries. My husband did get a price reduction but I suffered in silence. Please! This restaurant needs returning to its previous excellence which has been missing for the last 3-4 years. You cannot justify very high Michelin prices for poorly executed dishes. Either reduce prices, improve by a great deal the culinary offerings or close the restaurant. Unfortunately, I feel hard done by, paying so much for such poor quality.

Disappointing and underwhelming. Had brilliant experience at this restaurant in the past so was very excited. Had the tasting menu with wine 'package' at £120 per head. Dishes not great, apart from the lamb and wines which were delicious! Head waiter not really engaging, maybe he'd had a bad day? There were quite a few empty tables so he wasn't overworked. Service seemed rushed and disjointed. Sommelier arrived with wine for next course before we'd finished the last one. We were there to celebrate our 45th wedding anniversary and will sadly remember the night for the wrong reasons.

Went to The Mirabelle restaurant on Saturday 27th January for my birthday meal and had the tasting menu with accompanying wines. It was amazing ! Lovely tasty food and the accompanying wines were paired so well. We did have an issue but the head waiter dealt with it very well and we were compensated for the error. Lovely waiting and wine staff - could not fault the whole experience.

My name is Sonia Kowlessar and two of my friends went to the Grand hotel for dinner in the Mirrabelle restuarant on the 26th January2024 for 7 30 pm and was so very disappointed with the food as my dish was very salty and too much fat as there were hardly any lamb it was sad my friends had the sea bass dishes The service was great but the food was very disappointing and I did let our waiter know what i think of the meal and showed him the Fat on the lamb he just said he will let the chef know and that was the end of that We were not happy or contended leaving the Restuarant The table was booked for 3 I made the mistake of not taking photos of the meals the table was booked by Mr Organ

We thoroughly enjoyed our excellent lunch today. The staff were all super friendly and efficient and the food was superb. A real treat

The Grand Hotel in Eastbourne is a magnificent building and the staff are always attentive. It is probably the only place where you can get fine dining in Eastbourne and it’s always my go to choice when celebrating for birthdays etc. I went for lunch yesterday with my wife and it was decidedly average. The service was impeccable, but the food was so-so. Portion sizes were very small and seasoning was hit and miss. Some dishes were tasteless. whereas others were very salty. To top things off coffee was sent back because it was lukewarm. I will go back there to eat, but I will be expecting better next time.

Been to this restaurant a few times and every time we have a truly fantastic meal. Both the food and service are terrific. As good as any top London restaurant. Worth a visit - you won’t be disappointed. Highly recommend

There is a new chef Alex with his new team in Mirabelle Restaurant since September 2023. We had a great tasting menu on my wife's birthday. At the end of the night, they gave us special chocolate treats too! A variety of dishes on the tasting menu including seafood, lamb and venison. And obviously, the Grand Hotel is incredibly designed place too!

Excellent Saturday lunch in this delightful restaurant. We had a delicious three course meal which was very fairly priced and had plenty of options on it. I’d highly recommend the restaurant in terms of food and setting in the lovely hotel. The service was also excellent and we felt very well looked after by Ronnie and Adrian. Excellent and we shall be back!

Just had the most amazing taster dinner with wine. Food absolutely amazing. Wines were dreamy. The waiters were so good. Real kind people who know what they are doing. More hosts than waiters. Such a lovely place. Not snooty in the least

I took my cousins for the special lunch on November 3rd - £25 for two courses, £30 for three and £20 for half a bottle of excellent Rothschild claret. The service was impeccable and the food presentation was a real work of art! The artistically presented starter, which included lime flavoured caviar was delicate and delicious. Both the fish and game main courses were delicious and we all particularly appreciated the home made bread with whipped butter infused with garlic. A most enjoyable and delicious experience, especially the setting, being able to look out on the sea.

Perfect lunch at a reasonable price of £30 for 3 courses. A beautiful dining room and attentive staff. I enjoyed celeriac veloute, delicate pan fried local plaice fillet and a gorgeous chocolate and coffee dessert. We are fortunate in Eastbourne to have such a top quality restaurant for special occasions

Very disappointing. Food average. Service so slow. It seemed the customers of the hotel had better service. Time to go elsewhere as a local

Martin and Ronnie provided great service on our Saturday evening dinner experience. The food was lovely and the ambience enjoyable. We could not fault it and will be back next time.

The food was tired and tasteless. To start a Katsu Crab: Crab, which as any good chef knows, is a delicate taste and does not need to be overwhelmed by a sauce containing soy. The crab was also dry and may have been, as claimed hand picked , but not on the day in question. To follow: Cornish Lemon Sole which was very dry and had obviously been prepared many hours previously. The accompanying sauce - Beurre Noisette - was very tiny and not fit for purpose. The ice cream finale was three scoops but from a tea spoon and not enough to amuse the taste buds. The meal was expensive and the restaurant virtually empty - I guess the local community have realised that the chef cuts too many corners and have voted conclusively to stay well clear. John Adams

We had a top quality tasting menu with wine pairing. The food was great and the pairing was perfect. A special mention for Ronnie the sommelier - who went above and beyond. We will return.

From start to finish an absolutely amazing evening. The service is faultless and the attentiveness brilliant. My thanks to all staff for a wonderful evening. We ate in this restaurant a couple of times recently. It is a very comfortable restaurant with modern decor. On a Saturday night visit we were treated to a pianist which added to the atmosphere. Service is attentive and friendly. The food is of a high standard and we weren't disappointed with any of the dishes we tried apart from the coffee we had which was weak and watery and served in a pot for 1 at £12! The wine list is very extensive but as we drink very little we only had a glass and a very nice port after the meal.

Haven’t been to the Mirabelle for a while and so pleased we did - lunch was exquisite. Delicious and beautifully presented with excellent service. Followed by cocktails in the garden served by the helpful and charming Chante. What a wonderful day out with our friends

We enjoyed The Mirabelle last year and returned on our recent stay. There is the option of a tasting menu or A La Carte and we enjoyed the latter selecting two lovely starters and a chocolate desert to share. Elegant surroundings and very friendly service from Benjamin and his team.We are retiurning on our next visit to The Grand in August.

We had the taster menu and wine flight. Each dish was 'food entertainment' and a very enjoyable experience. The accompanying wines perfectly suited each dish. The service was exceptional with friendly staff. A great birthday treat in a beautiful setting overlooking the Hotel garden.

Booked the Mirabelle restaurant at the Grand Eastbourne for our wedding anniversary and we were very glad we did. The Dining room has been freshened up but still maintains its Victorian grandeur with high ceilings, chandeliers and lovely furnishings. We were pleased to see an a la carte menu alongside a tasting menu and we decided to choose from the former. Every course was excellent; tasty, beautifully presented and accomplished. The service was friendly, unhurried, attentive and professional. Couldn't fault it. The Sommelier knew his stuff and has put together a really diverse wine list. We enjoyed a glass of English Sparkling wine from nearby Rathfinney but other Sussex vineyards, Ridgeview & Nyetimber were also listed. We followed the Sommeliers recommendations for a glass of still wine each and were really impressed with his choices. There was a great atmosphere in the restaurant, we spoke with diners from three other tables as they were leaving, they had clearly enjoyed themselves too. Next time we visit Eastbourne our choice of restaurant is a no brainer. That said, if the team at the Mirabelle can maintain these standards, the word is going to get out and we might find it very difficult to get a table !

Nice decor and friendly staff, but perhaps a little stuffy for our liking , but that is in keeping with the style of the hotel. Food was great , with a good choice on the menu. Staff were very knowledgeable and helpful too.

We opted for the taster menu with wine flight choices. The variety, quality and care of the presented food was first class. The staff were friendly and helpful. A recommended experience.

En nuestra última noche en el Grand Hotel cenamos en su elegante establecimiento, el Mirabelle. Aunque la decoración no era del todo de nuestro gusto, había una atmósfera de calma y un ambiente agradable en el comedor lleno que es ciertamente lujoso.Hay un menú de degustación de seis platos en 78, pero como habíamos comprado nuestro propio vino (el descorche no es irrazonable) no funcionó para nosotros, así que elegimos de la carta, que tiene cinco opciones en cada etapa.También miramos la lista de vinos que pensamos que era excelente y todas las cosas consideradas de valor razonable también: el sommelier está en el botón y tiene algunas buenas ideas.Los entrantes fueron Cornish Crab y Sussex Mackerel, ambos muy bien presentados y muy sabrosos; platos principales de solla de la costa sur con mantequilla y el "fish du jour" (besugo) eran excelentes y compartimos un milhojas de fresa para el postre.El servicio fue excelente en todos los aspectos, un poco formal, pero sin duda es un establecimiento elegante.Pensamos que fue una cena excelente y (ver informe separado) mucho mejor relación calidad-precio que el restaurante Garden. Durante nuestra estancia en el hotel, mi esposa y yo cenamos en dos ocasiones. Verdaderamente una experiencia maravillosa, la remodelación del restaurante parece increíble. El chef de este restaurante debe tener un contador de costos que vigile todos sus movimientos. Una ensalada Capresse tenía una cantidad tan escasa de queso mozzarella que era invisible debajo de uno de los tomates empapados. Mi esposa dijo que era el peor entrante que había comido. A modo de balance, agregaría que mi tarta de langosta tenía una excelente caja de pastelería. Mi plato principal de Guinea Fowl estaba seco y recocido. ¿Cuándo se cocinó realmente, me pregunto? Vinimos aquí dos veces durante nuestra estancia en el hotel. Los alrededores son muy elegantes. El servicio es formal si no tan atento como de costumbre debido a las restricciones de Coronavirus. Las personas que conocimos tenían el menú de degustación con vuelo de vino que sentían que era demasiado para comer. Si tiene tres platos con una copa de vino y un café, espere pagar al menos 80 por cabeza antes del servicio.

I have not been coming as often over the last couple of year as the food wasn’t as good , but came back last Saturday evening as I was told a new Chef was in charge and I glad I did as the food was back to where it was . As always the service was great and now so is the food again so I shall be going again much more often . The best place to eat once again for miles

My wife and I have been useing this restuarant for some time and have always been pleased with service and food provided. However, the arrival of new chef MIcheal has taken the experience to a another higher level. The menu choice and presentation is excellent and the use of local products is admirable. For anybody who has not used this restuarant for a while they should!!

Been there quite a few times. Food was up to the usual high standard, but service was much slower than previous occasions with a long initial wait for our order to be taken.

It began with there is no indication that walking out to the far side the building there is no easy access toilet. 28 steps to the ladies or walk to the other side of the building, They didn't have the wine we ordered and the food was unbelievably bad. Pork with crackling was served as a full fat piece of belly pork in a sweet, sticky syrup - revolting. The cheese course was a slate with three bits of under ripe cheese and a dollop of brown pickle. There was a few grapes and crackers. We were not given a choice of cheese. Forgive us for expecting better from a five star hotel. The service was indifferent.

Hemos estado cenando regularmente en The Mirabelle durante un año.Cada vez nuestra experiencia ha sido una delicia. Nos alojamos una noche en el Grand y quería experimentar su restaurante "de alta cocina". Confortable y elegante sesión, servicio atento y profesional. Buena selección de vinos y Louis Roederer por copa. Puedo recomendar tanto las vieiras como la sopa de langosta. El cordero de tres vías estaba absolutamente delicioso. No hay postre pero café realmente genial (filtro). Una comida muy agradable.

High class restaurant in a superb setting. We had an enjoyable evening with good food, good service with a good buzz in the room.

Absolutely fantastic food. Our waitress was very attentive and friendly and helpful. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal. A special thank you to the guys who wheeled my GrandDaddy to the restaurant and back. Wonderful experience and we will be returning.

4 of us booked lunch in the Mirabelle. It was very serene and very smart which I did expect and welcomed. No children as there was a family dining room. Staff were very good - not hovering but still attentive. Food very good and excellent price point for lunch. We didn't want to hurry

We were given a starter as a taster as we only went for dinner and pudding. ...It was pig cheeks...my word they were yummy. ..like a slow cooked piece of beef . Our main came out covered in a silver dome ..then 2 servers lifted the domes at the same time .Was a great experience. Pudding was amazing ... we then had coffee in the lounge where a small band was playing and people waltzing away. Lovely evening. ..

If you haven't tried the Mirabelle at the Grande hotel, lunch might be a good choice. Prices are less than you might think for fine dining.

The food is outstanding, beautifully presented. The premises are pleasant, but obviously part of a hotel. The set menu is £46 but a number of courses carry a supplement which can easily take your food cost to £60-70 before service. Table are well spaced so there is privacy.

Booked a table for 8-30 arrived at 7-45 we were taken into the bar seated and our order was taken we were cared for pampered in the bar and given some lovely snacks . Then taken to the restaurant the service and the food were fantastic staff are fantastic they really enjoy what they can do for you definitely going to stay soon

A friend treated me to a meal before her return to the States. We went for the tasting menu, which was excellent and a great way to try things you might not ordinarily choose. The service was excellent as well. A lovely evening.

My wife and I were celebrating our wedding anniversary. We had been at the Grand for a week and this was the Friday before we were due to go home. We went to the hotel bar, where we had pre meal drinks and olives etc. The manager of The Mirabelle came in and gave us menu's. They took our food orders and the manager accompanied us to the Mirabelle. He even carried my wife's wine for her. The Mirabelle is a fantastic place. Fine dinning and excellent service. We finished our anniversary meal with desert wines and coffee. The manager is charming and attentive. He was very discrete when he asked me in a hushed voice to sign the bill. Everyone was dressed up and the whole experience was wonderful.

We had dinner at The Mirabelle to celebrate an 80th birthday. From start to finish the whole experience was lovely. Charming service, delicious food, beautifully presented. A real treat.

Estar sentado en el área pequeña cerca de la entrada se siente un poco menos en comparación con el restaurante principal y la noche que comimos allí (sábado 11), el menú solo tenía cuatro opciones para el plato principal, probablemente porque un grupo grande comía allí y La cocina no podía hacer frente. Tuvo que preguntar en la cocina y regresó diciendo que el abadejo ahumado (sin sabor) había sido marinado en regaliz. . . . . Mi plato principal de merluza era promedio, pero disfruté la sopa de hinojo; sin embargo, el canelón de merluza que lo acompañaba se "deconstruyó" como una salchicha de pescado en una cinta plana de pasta. Los comensales en la mesa junto a la nuestra estaban claramente perplejos ante el llamado canelón. Mi esposa tenía un delicioso plato de huevo de pato cocinado a fuego lento con sabrosos champiñones y aros de cebolla.

Mi esposa y yo comimos en el Mirabelle durante nuestra estancia de cuatro días en el Grand Hotel en abril. Durante el día emprendimos algunas caminatas extenuantes, pero el sufrimiento se alivió con la anticipación de la cena. Visited the restaurant as part of a nostalgic overnight stay at the Grand. Very good service in the "grand hotel" tradition, but the food was a little it and miss. In particular, two of our party ordered the asparagus with poached egg, which arrived with two over-cooked eggs. The litmus tests on Masterchef that separate the good from the excellent always include Chocolate Fondant: with an oozing middle, Rack of Lamb: pink but not raw and Poached Eggs /egg raviolo: with runny centres. So, on that basis the chef at the Grand would be sent home by Toad and Shrek! On other dishes, the standard was very high. A bit of consistency, in all senses, is needed.

The Mirabelle has undergone a makeover. Gorgeous, blue, sea blue decor, luxurious drapes and an elegant finish combine to make the restaurant welcoming. The Saturday lunchtime of our visit found the restaurant bustling....and why not. The menu offered a variety of dishes to suit all palates.

We would have loved to have given the restaurant an excellent but unfortunately the service let it down a touch.

The experience here varies. The menu can be odd with the various ingredients. Not sure the new Chef is up to speed. Desserts are served like children's portions. However fantastic staff and great ambiance.

We tried the tasting menu this time with wine matched to each course by the sommelier. The food and wine was outstanding and the whole evening was a great experience and a lot of fun. The staff are great, the pianist provided a lovely backdrop and the restaurant itself is beautiful.

Eventually made it to the Mirabelle and well worth the visit.

I ate at the Mirabelle, with my family last Friday, and wanting to experience the restaurant, Christmas seemed like a good reason to treat the family.

We have wanted to visit The Mirabelle for a long while but circumstance have not permitted it, so it was with pleasure to finally have a Saturday night free for our first visit. We could not obtain a table until 9.00pm which was rather later that we wanted. However earlier in the evening we were telephoned by the Maître d to advise that an earlier table was available.

Our second visit to the Mirabelle restaurant, this time for lunch with friends.

The Mirabelle used to be a fine restauant. Since the arrival of a new chef, the quality of the food has plummeted. Badly composed and tasteless. Overpriced. Excellent service of food that is a bad joke. Small portions (thankfully).

Vinimos aquí para celebrar nuestro aniversario y decidimos tener los menús de degustación, con una versión vegetariana para mí. Las sustituciones no fueron agradables, dos luces bajas: huevo frío y alcachofa con hojas mezcladas cubiertas con aceite de trufa y tofu tibio con hojas mezcladas y aún más aceite de trufa. El vino se vertió con sedimento en el fondo, no hubo una combinación de vinos alternativos para tener en cuenta los diferentes alimentos que se servían en la opción de verduras y el servicio fue lento (2, 5 horas y pedimos que nos apresuráramos en los dos últimos cursos). A pesar de nuestra experiencia en general y quejas en el momento en que todavía pagamos casi 200 para el placer. Claramente, quieren ofrecerle una buena experiencia culinaria, pero aún no ha llegado, especialmente con las altas expectativas establecidas en revisiones anteriores.

Los 2 de nosotros tuvimos un buen almuerzo, aunque no excepcional, aquí esta semana. Buen saludo a la llegada, profesional y amable. Cenamos en este restaurante una noche mientras estábamos alojados en el Grand Hotel. Los alrededores eran muy agradables y el servicio era excelente. Nuestros entrantes y los platos principales eran realmente buenos: buena comida, raciones extra sabrosas y amplias. También nos dieron una amuse - bouche más un sorbete de chanmpagne como cursos extra. Estábamos un poco decepcionados con nuestro pudín de tarta Bakewell, que, aunque no tenía nada de malo, no alcanzó el nivel de nuestros dos cursos anteriores. Decidimos tomar nuestro café y petits - fours en el salón y fuimos escoltados allí y encontramos un asiento. Ah, y tomamos unas copas antes de la cena en el bar de cócteles del hotel mientras elegíamos del menú y esto fue acompañado por una selección de canapés encantadora.

No puedo creer que un restaurante con estas pretensiones (y precios) pueda servir una comida tan mala. Comenzó de manera extraña con un amuse bouche de pastel de pastores en una taza de café. El Pastel de los Pastores estaba bien por derecho propio, pero parecía completamente en desacuerdo con el resto de la comida. El primer plato fue "salmonete relleno". Se sirvió un pequeño trozo de pescado sin relleno discernible y acompañado de pequeños trozos de verduras sin sabor. Todo fue absolutamente sin sabor.

Teníamos expectativas muy altas para Mirabelle, pero lamentablemente nos dejaron sintiéndonos algo decepcionados. Intenta ser extremadamente "elegante" pero la ejecución es un tanto anticuada, con trollies para servir tu comida y platos que cubren tu comida que se levanta abundantemente con un "Voila" abundante que lleva a creer que hay algo absolutamente magnífico debajo. Realmente no lo estaba, todo estaba muy salado, lo que dominaba cualquier otro sabor, el venado era fuerte, las verduras prácticamente crudas y el jus extremadamente salado. Nuestro plato de membrillo, queso de cabra y ensalada de higos se arruinó por la acidez del membrillo, que era lo único que podías probar, que era una vergüenza. El postre era normal y nos quedamos con la sensación de que esta experiencia gastronómica era demasiado cara y un poco pretenciosa en su presentación, que a menudo está bien si la comida es espectacular, que no fue en esta ocasión.

Excellent food, professional service. Good wine list. Relaxing ambience. Pleased to see at least some degree of dress code - not overly formal but thank God no shorts and flip flops.

The Mirabelle is inside the Grand Hotel, Eastbourne. My wife and I have been to the hotel for many years but have never dined in the Mirabelle. We booked a table and were sitting in the hotel bar, when a charming lady gave us menus and told us to relax and come to the Mirabelle when we were ready. She took our food and drinks order and after finishing our drinks we went to the restaurant. What a great place. It's been redecorated and it was lovely. Great service. Great staff and great food. The atmosphere was just wonderful. None of our fellow diners found it necessary to throw their heads back and laugh loudly (as they seem to do in most restaurants these days!). It was nice to for my wife and I to speak and hear each other. A real throw back to the pre-boorish days of fine dining.

Our first visit to Eastbourne and what a find! Dinner here was as good as many of the best restaurants in London. The Lobster Lasagna, one of the most delicious dishes I've had in recent years (and I'm a discerning foodie!), and the service too was first class. Lucky old Eastbourne, having a place like this... I will come back just to eat here again.

We have been to Mirabelles quite frequently since 2002 and are members of their so called Elite club. It has always been a wonderful evening of indulgence for us and we have never been disappointed with either the food or the service. Ben the restaurant manager runs a tight but friendly ship and anticipates customers needs excellently. He and his staff have always exceeded expectations and he orchestrates an atmosphere of professional and knowledgeable friendliness. Recently my husband and I became vegan and advised the restaurant of this when we booked our table. The meal was superb and they provided us with as much choice on our menu as we had pre vegan. The sauces particularly were delicious. My only suggestion for improvement would have been to have upped the carbs a little - a few potatoes were required we felt. Thank you for your 5 star service. Thoroughly recommend. Just let them know that your coming for dinner!
