A canny place to go for a few drinks. Other reviewers mention unpleasant toilets but to be honest other venues in town are similarly as unpleasant. Little bit annoyed this morning waking up checking my bank to realise I got charged twice for 1 drink £18 for a £9 drink. I'll not be letting that happen again. Bloody technology lol

No cameras inside or outside bar, staff aren't the absolute best, toilets are VILE no locks, no toilet seats, no toilet roll, no soap. Smokers cage is disgusting. Stairs are often broken or damaged, run out of mixers often, organised chaos.

Good bar, little expensive and the toilets are genuinely terrifying. Beer pong is available and good vibe overall

Never fails to dissapoint, they always have good music and the drinks are incredibly reasonable. It also stays open till late aswell which is always a bonus

Friendly enough security man Walk ins accepted Lovely drinks Shot menu is a range of sweet shots didn't fancy them ourselves, don't expect original shots we had tiki fires! Cocktails are made beautifully We didn't have an ashtray on our table and no heaters as far as I'm aware. For the middle of a pandemic, it's a reasonable, practical choice especially if spontaneous like us and you don't book a table haha Staff seem social enough too

Great staff and incredible drinks, prices aren't bad. I had the best zombie cocktail here that I've ever had! The other drinks with fruit ground up were amazing too! What ruins this place is the toilets which look like some dodgy underpass.

Went there 14/09 and in the toilet none of the taps were working. No water to wash your hands. Disgusting!

Drinks were cheap but that’s the only good thing about it I went to the toilet but as soon as I started walking down the stairs it stunk of urine and dirt I went in the ladies and have never been so disgusted in my life there was a random woman giving you toilet roll out of a bag obviously expecting a tip as there wasn’t any toilet roll or even dispensers in the toilets and they were thilthy god knows when they were last cleaned I then went to wash my hands to be greeted with no hand wash and even more disgusting no water as none of the taps worked which is disgusting how can you run a business with such disgusting conditions which even shows the staff serving your drinks have probably been to the toilets and not washed their hands either cannot believe this place is runn8ng under these conditions

I was led here by a promotional leaflet that said that MiMo’s gave their customers three treble vodka-mixers for £7. We were all very disappointed to realise, quite blatantly, that the Vodka was watered down. Paying for a treble, which is about half of a 500ml glass, yet when you take a sip, there is zero vodka taste as in a regular double/triple vodka-mixer. Absolute scam. Dirty place, rude staff and disgusting toilets. Would not visit again. Would NOT recommend. Either be honest and don’t advertise trebles, or give us a treble but charge slightly more than £7. Atrocious. Scam. Do not visit.

Apart from a few extremely rude staff this is my favourite pre bar in the city. Has great drink deals and mostly nice, friendly staff.

We just have a few drinks a glass of red wine and some chips while waiting for our train to Darlington. Since we had a few hours we enjoyed MiMo and had a good time. The bartender was excellent.

Phone number on website is useless rang continuously three separate dates got no answer. Doesn't give a very good impression of customer service.

Smells like feet, is full of 18-22 year olds. But the music is quite fun

Great deals here especially on Mondays. Always predrinking here before going to digital or other clubs. Lively atmosphere downstairs and upstairs even more so in metropolis. Only way it could be better would be with more greater selection of music and last time one of the bouncers came across as overly arragant.

Cubiertas) que cada pulgada del suelo, las mesas y sillas. Esto significa que las superficies de ambos estaban pegajosos y no particularmente agradable toque. El olor de los inodoros es una mezcla de indeseables de algo parecido a peces pudriéndose y los contenedores para llevar fuera de China.A pesar de esto, es barato, tiene un área al aire libre muy agradable y el ambiente es animado. Alquilar un limpiador adecuado y este lugar sería mucho mejor! Un generoso 3*.

Never go for a "few quiet drinks" here.. Speaking from experience, it never happens. But what can you expect from a trebles bar 😂

Three trebles for £6 - yet the toilets make me feel like I'm in one of the saw movies.

The only 2 things that were good about that place were location and prices. The place was dirty and stunk. The barman was rood and not accommodating. He was not happy that we came in in a large not too drunk but merry company. So he was huffing and puffing whilst serving and refused all our reasonable requests with regards to orders or music.

Visit on a saturday night - no tonic . Propose able alternate drink for the same price and mysteriously the tonic appears - the last one . Service and the way your spoken too is at beat shocking . I expect an apology

The venue is much suited to the horrid side street it is located on. It's a beehive of tight students glugging unheard of "vodka" for very little profit. No wonder they can't afford to renovate their toilets... Sticky, smelly, a complete disaster.

A few of the girls decided that we should try Mimos for Saturday night cocktails. First of all upon entry you are hit with a disgusting smell of damp.After waiting 35 MINUTES at the bar we were eventually served. By this point we begrudged spending our money at this place as the service we received was absolutely dreadful!! One member of the bar staff wasn't actually able to serve cocktails (yes that's right, in a COCKTAIL BAR,) which meant we had to wait for members of staff at the opposite end of the bar to serve us. Upon being served we were supplied filthy glasses covered in bits of fruit from a previous cocktail. Needless to say we requested clean glasses. We then sat at a table which was sticky and smelt of damp.Before leaving after 1 drink we needed to use the toilets. These toilets are an absolute health hazard from the metal staircase to the holes in the floor to the revolting smell and mouldy crumbling walls. Can safely say we will not be returning.

I have nothing good to say about this bar... It's dire! If you're in town miss this out... Newcastle is full of bars, some good, some bad but you can have a much better night out by missing out a place like this!I find it insane that whoever revamped this dump decided to give it a new name, a bit of a lick of paint but kept the absolutely terrible atmosphere as its previous incarnation clear bar!Waste of time!

Great for a cocktail! But dont go to the toilet!! They have no locks, no toilet seats, there was a 1ft whole in the floor in the toilet I went in and suprise suprise no toilet paper! The mens were just as bad with one toilet flooded and a pool of water running down the corridor, hence the fowl smell you can smell in the WHOLE bar! Its a shame because the cocktails are good and the surroundings arent too bad....they obviously just dont care too much for their customers health!

Some colleagues and myself work close to Mimo decided to give it a try on our lunch time. Walking into Mimo we were the only ones in the place apart from a couple of other colleagues from our work. There were four of us, three of us eating and one just having a coffee. The coffee came with a little pot of cream. The cream splashed into the coffee and immediately curdled! It was completely off and had been for some time! The waiter offered to change this for us, not the best start but at least it was being changed straighr away. The other three of us ate and it was possibly one of the worst mistakes I have ever made! Two of us had burgers and our other friend had the steak sandwich. We picked at the food which wasn't as hot as it should be and if anything was only slightly warm through. Within a few hours all of us were ill with sickness and stomach cramps. I would strongly advise this place is avoided.

We went with a Living Social voucher - £25 for champagne, mezze and nachos. Only took a couple attempts to make the booking so no problems there really. It was a Friday night so quite busy as usual in Newcastle.Got a nice high table seat opposite the bar and staff were attentive. We got our champagne within 5 mins of sitting down. A raspberry in the bottom of the glass was a nice touch. The champagne was lovely and well chilled.After about 20 mins our food came. It was ok. The nachos were triangles of filo pastry topped with salsa and melted cheese, not quite the "dorito" style nachos but edible and quite tasty. The mezze was nice though not much on the plate and it was supposed to be worth £11, the bowls of dips were lovely. Not sure if maybe they gave us less because we had the voucher?We then had 2-4-1 cocktails. They were lovely, mine was served in a zombie head glass which was quite heavy. My hubby had a mojito and I think he had a whole mint bush in the glass !!Ladies toilets were a bit ropey.All in all, would go back for a 2-4-1 cocktail, not sure about the food. Felt that the living social voucher was pretty good deal. My hubby googled the champagne we had (can't remember the name of it) and it was retailing at £26.99 , so with mark-ups a £25 voucher did represent a good deal.

Deal purchased via Living Social for £25 incl a bottle of Duvel Champagne, nachos and a sharing mezze. Living Social detailed the telephone number on the deal and it didnt start well when I tried several times to phone to book but no one answered the phone, nor was there an answer machine. Bizarre... I found Mimo on the internet and phoned an alternative number, I booked a table with the Manager, at last!.Before I found the alternative number I contacted Living Social to advise of the problems I was having in making a booking. They emailed Mimos and booked a table on my behalf.We arrived and what a surprise they claimed they had no champagne. The reason they gave was they claimed I hadnt booked. I had booked direct with the Manager 2 days prior and Living Social had also emailed Mimos. I have to say I expected that would happen! We were offered sparkling rose wine or Prosecco. Lets do the sums to see how this hole conned us, the prosecco was £17, the Duvel Champagne £34/£36.To our surprise when another two ladies came into the bar after us, they were offered Duvel Champagne on the basis they had booked. We had booked, twice!!Now for the food.... or what they passed off as food. Mimos served pastry cut into triangles, deep fried with cheese slices on the top as Nachos! The sharing mezze platter arrived, no feta, this was replaced by a chuck of stilton and slice of goats cheese the size of a 10p. The garlic bread was obviously pre frozen, and only cooked on 1 side. Need I say more on the food.It was no surprise Mimos didnt offer any plates nor napkins and you certainly didnt want any food going on the damp, dirty, sticky tables. After passing the bar I noticed several bottles of Champagne in the fridges and when I challenged Mimos the manager said we couldnt have that champagne as its too expensive. The menu showed the difference being £4 between the one on the deal and the ones in the fridge. I am also sure there was Duvel champagne but as we had been offered 2 free cocktails to compensate the Manager said thats the best he could do.This place should be shut down and I am sure if the enviromential health visited the kitchens/pub it certainly would be.Even the cocktails were watered down, 90% was ice. Mimos can only be described as a disgusting, filthy, vile place and the manager is a con man. He was there so he knew exactly what he was doing.

Well I don't quite know where to start!We also had a Groupon voucher. I presume they aren't doing too well and are trying to make a name for themselves, well that they may be but it isn't a good one!!!We were first told they didn't have our booking despite several days of calling at different times for what was supposed to be a gift and turned out to be a chore. Living Social (the Groupon provider) finally booked us a table with the manager who later denied all knowledge of the same. The nachos came cold and made of filo pastry (that's a new one on me) with cheese slices melted on the top. The mezze was quite frankly a disgrace. Frozen garlic bread grilled on one side with a couple of sticks of celery, not a sniff of feta in sight as advertised We read the reviews on this place and thought it can't possibly be that bad, IT IS!!! We thought the salvation would be the champagne served within the Groupon deal. To our dismay, we were told the bar was out of champagne (at 4pm on a Saturday, as if) despite our prior booking with the manager and were offered prosecco and the 2 for 1 cocktails we had already paid for in the place of £34 champagne. This is simply not acceptable when you have fridges full of moet champagne. The owner/manager clearly has no interest in the day time passing trade however is happy to entertain the evening beer guzzling night time guests. All in all, the manager/owner has bitten off more than he can chew or deal with. Close the place down for the day and open it up as a night time bar and you may not get so much bad press! Total nightmare and not worth even the price we paid, avoid at all costs.

Cheap cocktails at happy hour, but food and atmosphere dire! We visited on a Thursday night, only 2 other people in the place, lacked atmosphere and heating didn't seem to be working very well.Menu sounded great so we decided to stay for food.....big mistake! We ordered 5 dishes and only one was up to standard. I could go on for hours about the food but suffice to say nachos with slices of plastic cheese on the top is not a good look!

Yes i know.... ITS A BAR, serving food!!... Cold food to be percise. The groupon voucher may have been over priced for this place, as we waited 45mins for our second choice starters. (No prawns or calamari) after the under cooked wings and the cold garlic bread we waited another 35/40 mins for the burgers.." Miami style"..... Will Smith would not have welcomed you to Miami in here....Mushy bun, Greasy bacon on a burger with onion, cheese and Greasy Green garnie to top it off. accompanied by a pot of cold "macdonalds" type chips which went back.... How this place stays open, is up for debate? bet my bottom doller it does not get busy even on a Friday nights drinking session...... Sorry never again, getting people in to your esablishment is the easy part, making them come back again is a lot harder...!!!! Please, Please, Please. DON'T

Got there 1pm, were only two other partys in the place who both left after their starters. Asked them if their food wasn't nice and they said no, was horrible, took forever to arrive and that the bar was freezing cold. Weighed it up and decided to stay and give it a chance as had already paid for the Groupon.Took coats off, was completely freezing, put them back on again. Mentioned to waitress who couldn't care less. She said they'd ran out of prawns. No apology or offered alternatives or anything, just 'we've ran out of prawns' after only being open an hour. I ordered goats cheese salad with chili, friend ordered chicken wings with a cream blue cheese sauce. Took 40 minutes to arrive even though we were the only ones there. Mine had a miniscule piece of goats cheese on some tired rocket drowned in cheap, sugary chili sauce. Ate some of the cheese. Could only taste nasty sauce. Friend's 3 chicken wings were cold and the cream blue cheese sauce was like water with a few microscopic lumps in the bottom. Waitress came over, picked up plates wordlessly and walked off. Called her back to tell her we were freezing - she didn't notice we had our coats on and scarves over our legs like pensioners in wheelchairs in winter. Begrudgingly agreed to see if the heating was on.Burgers arrived after we'd been there over an hour. Buns were cheap processed type, burger was tiny and tasted not of Cuban spices as promised, but cheap, greasy mince and was very fatty and gristly. Was no pickle or onion and the mean portion of fries were cold. Bacon was white and flabby with a thick rind of fat on and was topped - I swear blind - with a processed plastic Kraft cheese slice. Ketchup came in a plastic bottle encrusted with old ketchup. Vile.Man came over and picked plates up saying hed fetch us our knickerbocker glorys. Told him we didn't want them, that we hadn't enjoyed our food, it took ages, we were really cold etc etc. He laughingly claimed heating was on 'full blast', told him we'd been in loads when it was under different management as Clear bar and it was never noticably cold. He walked off, telling us he'd get our drinks bill! No genuine apology or offer to put things right. Disgusted. Saw a colleague finishing his drink by the bar as we left. He said it was one of the worst meals he'd ever had.Also, the dirty toilets hadn't seen a squirt of bleach for weeks and there was no loo roll. Obviously they don't make any money with the Groupon offer so lie that they've run out of prawns and use super-cheap, rubbish-quality ingredients for the burgers. Having read these other reviews today, am glad we didn't stay for the dessert - we went to elsewhere and had a fantastic cheesecake and a fruit crumble with custard in warm surroundings, served by pleasant staff!The one saving grace was our cocktails were nice. Doesn't make up for the second-worst customer service I've experienced though. If you're wondering, the worst was being made to leave a restaurant in Manhattan the moment we'd finished our main because we hadn't decided if we wanted dessert or not and they needed the table. Will be complaining to Groupon.

Well,this is the third time I have tried to place a review about this place,and hopefully the computer will take it for me this time.Me and a colleague went two Wednesdays ago,the 18th January,and we thought it must be quiet after the New Year as there was only two other tables in this cavernous place occupied.The greeting and welcome we received was pleasant enough,and we were placed in the 'Baltic' front window....That was where the good point ended.The young waitress wants to go from that sinking ship now while she still has the chance..Please get poached petal,and look after yourself !! The starters came after 25 minutes.Mine was a rack of ribs in hickory smoky sauce...MMMM,SOUNDS LOVELY !! WELL,IT WASN'T !! To be honest,they were bloody awful.They tasted like one of those microwave in the bag jobs which had been soooo overdone they were bone dry...Even the Hickory smoky sauce had dried in.I struggled to part them with a knife and fork,never mind ripping them apart with your hands.My friends starter I was informed was ok,the Tempura Prawns with a token saled was palatable.Worse was to follow with the mains....From walking into the place till the main meal came was 50 minutes,,,ok,not overly long,but when there's nobody else in virtually ?? Howway man....Anyway,there was no apology from the barman/waiter,and we just started on a very mushy pile of what i think was supposed to pass as a burger.I kid you not,you would think mine had been dropped on the floor,scooped back up,and plonked between two slices of bun....It might have been for all I know....No onion rings on one,and there was no construction to the burger..i.e.bun,salad,burger,cheese,etcetera...it was just a pile of mush...See my photos attached to see if you can spot any layers !! Bear in mind as well these were £11 burgers,not cheap £1.99 jobs,so we expected the best.I soldiered on with mine coz after waiting almost an hour,I was starving.My friend left a bit of hers saying it was burnt,so I tried what she had left and I realised I'd actually got the good one !!!HORRENDOUS !!!The 'dessert' was a very ingloriuos knickerbocker glory....It came in a tall glass,a little strawberry in the bottom,soft and runny ice cream melting on top,all topped off by a dollop of squrty cream....No fruit apart from the manky strawberry in the bottom.I have made better desserts at home.I did not venture into the toilets as I value my health,but I was informed that the ladies had approximately 6 cubicles,not one with a lock on,no hand soup,no toilet rolls...and the decor resembled Beirut on a good day !!After our meal,we did approach the staff...The young lady took on board our complaints,whilst the young boy of a waiter/barman...Now what was he ?? Neither,that's right...just stood there while she had to take the flak.I doubt if the Chef has any Michelin Stars....I doubt if he will get any in his lifetime.I think he'll have to make his own 'sticky on' stars like we got at school,because this pub/'restaurant'/eatery/hovvel is swiftly going down the pan.

Saying that this place is terrible is being overly generous. Tripadvisor is my first stop. Newcastle public health will be my second. Like many people that have written already; I had purchased a "meal deal' through GROUPON. (I'll be writing to them too to demand my money back).I can only presume that this place remains in business from the overspill from the much better bars nearby when they are stowed out. The soft drinks we ordered were flat. Two of the 3 hot starters, that took over half an hour to arrive, were cold and were still cold after they'd been returned and informed that they were cold! Serving poorly cooked pork is dangerous! At this point we left.Customer service was amongst the worst I've ever experienced in my life.The place was cold and we all had to keep our coats on!The sooner this place is closed down or stops serving food the better. It gives Newcastle a bad name.

No prawns or ribs at 230 in the after noon. Chicken wings were still raw so were sent back. Burger was ok. This is a bar so if you think you are in for a restaurant meal, think again. If I'd been asked to pay the normal prices and not had a Groupon voucher, I'd be very disappointed indeed.

(I had seen prevoius reviews & was tempted to just let my voucher lapse, however I decided to at least give it a try!)Restaurant was fairly quiet (People waiting for food - not a good sign)We had to wait 25 minutes for starter (Goats Cheese with Sweet Chilli & salad) to arrive.(Food was OK) then we waited a further 30 minutes for mains (Burger was edible but the fries were cold & stringy!)The Knickerbocker Glory followed in time (Not too sure where they stored the Ice Cream while we waited but the Whipped Cream/Ice Cream had started to melt!)Toilets were a disgrace.Total Cost of this meal would have been in excess of £30(Could have gone to Macdonalds / Burger King three times!)

Ok it not the best bar in town or probably the worst but just didn't feel right, match day so loads of idiots, 1 guy staggering about with blood down his shirt and doorman sat at table having a burger, stayed for 1 pint and left pronto.

Some of the reviews on here seem to be very harsh and I must have been one of the lucky ones who didnt experience food poisoning or dirty plates or toilets...may I even be a bit sceptical as to if these customers are actually customers or just rival establishments?Anyway, the food was all lovely, had chicken wings and calamari to start, two of the fort knox burgers and then the knickerbocker glorys. It was all piping hot and delicious. Cocktails are cheap 2 for £6 and you get them in tiki glasses. Staff seem to be running around as this was because the waiter was also the barman. All in all a good visit and not deserving of some of the ratings on here. Got it on a groupon and will most definitely be returning, especially for the cocktails.

I have just visited mimo in Newcastle and feel cheated out of my groupon voucher. I am not a fussy eater but this bar/cafe was awful.The service was non existent, the food was not served as advertised i.e. starter arrived without peppers, mains without bacon or spices and non of this was mentioned when we placed our order or when food presented. After waiting over 30 minutes for our main course to arrive, we left half way through our main as food was inedible (burnt, extremely greasy) and staff unhelpful (when we complained and refused to pay for our two cokes they had no comment or apology to offer).We do not want other groupon customers to suffer the same

I, like many of the reviewers, visited mimo through a groupon offer. My partner and I booked for 6pm on a Monday, but arrived half an hour early. There was clearly not going to be a problem, as we were the only people in the place. In any case, the girl was very smiley and friendly. We chose to sit in the window, and had to battle with the drone of the pipe behind us. The table seemed clean enough, luckily. The waitress tempted us with 2 for 1 cocktails, but we only wanted soft drinks. She brough us menus, and, having already decided what we were avoiding and what we were having, quickly ordered ribs and calamari to split for starters and fort Knox burgers for main. She strangely also asked whether we wanted cheesecake or knickerbocker glory for dessert (didn't think the deal gave the choice). In any case, we both chose the latter.Starter was with us within 10 mins. Both were decent, though not particularly as described (couldn't detect herbs and flavourings in the calamari). Ribs were succulent ans yummy. Main came probably about 5 minutes after we'd finished starters. Impressive looking double beef burger, towering high atop an individual wooden serving platter, with a pot of skinny chips next to it. The burger was cooked beautifully, and the patties clearly handmade. Lacked the odd thing from the menu (mushroom) and the bacon a little underdone for my taste, but all in all a really tasty burger. The chips were a bit naff, and tasted reheated, but the burger was filling enough in any case. The big let down was when our knickerbocker glory came. It arrived totally melted, and had seemingly been made when we first placed our order. Was much more like a thick milkshake. Shame, as the ice cream was really creamy and delicious. Didn't taste like budget vanilla.So yeah, all in all a tasty meal, but nothing massively special. Wouldn't return and pay full price, but it was certainly good value and worth a visit with the groupon deal.One small tip: try and avoid needing to use the loos while there, they were dirty, falling apart and faulty, despite the more cared for facade upstairs.

Mimo only scraped a 1 star because of it's ok 2for1 cocktails but if you eat there you're seriously risking your health. My partner and I both ordered burgers, his was so well cooked/burnt that it only filled a small part of the dry bun. I didn't know fries could be cooked so badly, and I use the term 'cooked' very loosely, it was more likely that they'd been floating in old oil for a week and then warmed up with a candle flame. My burger was still frozen in the middle and a soggy mess on the edges. I didn't want to risk getting a replacement, but when we complained about the food, there wasn't even an apology let alone an offer of a refund from the totally unsurprised looking waitress. We got a very unconvincing "I'll have a word" from her and then nothing more. I've just found out he has a Groupon for it too. I'm hoping we can get out of that one!

Before I booked table at Mimo's I've been worry cos I read some very bad reviews abt that place. But after we had dinner ( Groupon offerr) I realized that some of them where exaggerated!!!! We had nice starters and great burgers to eat. Drinks we ordered where the best part of the evening! We had nice rasberry and blueberry daiquiries, with freshly squezed fruit inside!!! Toilets and cleanless are not the best part of the restaurant but we will deffinatelly come back there again for delicious cocktails!!!

Like many others had a groupon voucher. Only 2 other people in there at the time. Ordered prawn starter but they were out of prawns had garlic bread and goats cheese instead. They were just ok edible, but when burgers arrived it was a different story!! Really awful mine was chicken bugers which was really dry and chips far to full of grease my aunties buger was thick of grease. We left after 2 bites didn't even risk dessert actually felt sickly at the thought. waste of money x x

Booked via groupon and attended on a Monday evening - restaurant was very quiet like most places we past on our way there. Friendly reception , prompt service with good food. Basically mimo isn't trying to be something it isn't. More than happy , worth a go !

Very similar to others experience. Groupon deal: Disgusting chicken wings-inedible, burger was greasy, no salad, generally horrid. Sauces were all filthy. Knickerbockerglory was just a glass full of melted ice cream. Tables were sticky, freezing cold location and smelt dirty. Toilets:no lock or soap, unclean and grotty.

My husband I visited one Tuesday afternoon using our groupon voucher.There was no-one else in the bar and we were seated in a window seat which was freezing!The service was ok, the food was dry, dull and bland and the drink prices were extortionate.Won't return!

We visited MiMo recently and, thankfully, had the GroupOn voucher as would not have wanted to pay full price. We arrived at 2pm on a Saturday afternoon - you would expect a restaurant to have plenty of people in - but it was dead. In hindsight, we should have gone somewhere else. We were greeted by some pleasant waitresses, but that's where the good points stop. We were sat at a dirty table right at the back of the place. There was a funny smell throughout the venue. We both ordered chicken wings for starters. Whilst being ok in taste, there were what can only be described as chicken hairs on the ends and jelly-like skin on them. The cheese sauce was disgusting. We persevered and order chicken burgers with pineapple for our mains. The chicken was half the size of the bun, the bun was burnt, there was no salad or sauce on so incredibly dry and the pineapple was dry and like polystyrene. The chips were so overcooked I could have chipped a tooth. Our desert was knickerblocker glory. To be fair, these were actually nice, but, to be honest, how can you get ice cream wrong? We had a couple of cokes and towards the end of the meal we noticed that the glasses were far from clean and there were bits floating in the coke. We dared to use the toilets and found that they were out of soap and the doors didn't have any locks on. I have never actually written a review like this before as I've never had such a bad experience. I would advise everyone to steer clear of this place. Disgusting food, bad cleanliness, gross toilets and the place smells. They really shouldn't be offering food. Sack the chef!!

Got given a groupon voucher and thought we would use it early evening on a Friday. Went into the place around 4pm & booked a table for 5pm nobody apart from staff in there. Came back at 5pm asked where we should sit & was told anywhere. The waitress then came over and asked if we would be having food?! Again I explained we had a voucher she snootily said that we were supposed to book a table to which I replied we came in an hour ago & booked a table with herself?!!!!! ordered 2 pints which were cloudy & smelly . My husband then complained they apologised and replaced them the second ones slightly better but not great. The starters were medoicre. The main courses again mediocre once mains had been delivered nobody gave us fresh cutlery Had to use my starter cutlery so it was a good job the waitress didn't clear the table properly. Didn't hang around for our knickerbockerglory as the beer smell was making me nauseous. It is unusual for me to leave food or beer but in this instant I left both. Very glad I didn't pay for this as I would have been reeling.

I bought a £15 groupon for mimo's which was for a starter, burger and knickerbockerglory for 2 so I thought it was good value.........until I read the reviews on the internet! Nevertheless my partner and I decided to go with an open mind.Think the most important thing to realise is that mimo is a cocktail bar first and a restaurant second. We went at 7pm on a sat night which was a mistake as the music was loud and the bar was busy. People were drinking and partying at the table next to us while we were eating. Plus the barmaid were very busy and since they doubled up as waitresses there were some delays in getting plates cleared. If we had known we would have gone much earlier.As for the food, we had a good amount on our plates for the starters (calamari and ribs), and they were hot and came within 10 mins. The burger was lovely. Handmade burgers with fries on the side. We both got the fort knox burger which was £11 on the menu. We probably wouldn't have paid that much for them, but we did enjoy them. The knickerbockerglories were disappointing - neapolitana icecream with strawberry sauce, but nice enough. All in all it was worth it for the £15 groupon, but not if we'd paid full price. Wouldn't go here for a romantic meal or anything.

I loved this place! Myself and a group of people from my uni ate here a few weeks back and loved it!!!

Arrived at 1-05 pm for lunch on a groupon voucher, my partner was late so i waited at the bar until she arrived.I asked for a pint of draught larger while i waited, my first choice was not available nor was my second,eventually the waitress found the problem none of the draught beverages were available because they were cleaning the lines..........This just sums up the place, it had been open two hours(since11am) and they were not ready to serve people ! I asked for Sqiud as a starter and guess what..................they didn't have any... deja vu.Ordered the Fort Knox burger for main (the price is in the title £11)It would be a little unfair to judge the service of the meal as we and another couple were the only ones in the restaurant but the impression i got was that the staff just didn't want to be there.Burger was ok but didn't warrant the hefty price tag.Good points........ can't fault the memory of the waitress at 2.15 pm she asked me if i would like my pint, now that the draught beer was back on.

4 of us went for a late Sunday lunch using a Groupon voucher. Welcome at the door was pleasant. Bar and restaurant are unusual mix of odd bits of furniture, unfortunately everything was dirty. Were given menus - all dog eared and sticky. After ordering we waited around 40 minutes for our starters to arrive. Despite the wait the staff had not even put cutlery on the table. Starters were mixed - chicken nachos were good, chicken wings were greasy and served with a bowl of milky liquid with bits of blue cheese at the bottom - was meant to be a blue cheese sauce. Staff by this time had disappeared and seemed busy trying on clothes through the back of the bar. Had to go to the bar and stand for ages to get any attention. Main courses then arrived - guess what no cutlery! 10 minutes later cutlery finally arrived. Not A's if they were busy as were only 2 other people in. 3 of us had steaks which were nice although the jack Daniels glaze was more like neat alcohol. The other main course was a burger which we had to send back as it was still raw. The toilets were disgusting and not one of 6 cubicles in the ladies had toilet roll. Then just as we were finishing our main course they turned the lights down to such an extent we could not see our food. Getting the bill was equally as difficult and we had to put our coats go to the bar and wait before anyone paid any attention. Bar staff were too busy talking amongst themselves and arranging their social lives. Wouldnt go back even if I was paid to do so!!!

My wife and I purchased a voucher through groupon for this place and decided to give it a go since the offer was very good. On entering the restaurant we noticed "gangster number one" was the film showing on the large screen tv's, it is especially bloody and violent and totally unsuitable considering it was 2pm in the afternoon and we noticed children dining. The waitress took our order for food and drinks, it took 20 mins for our drinks to arrive and the glasses were dirty as was the jug which my water came in, sadly it was another 40 mins before our meal arrived. The starters were greasy (chicken wings), the steak was tasty but not rare as I had ordered, the cheese sauce was watery with large lumps at the bottom of the pot. I am so pleased we got this deal on a voucher as I would have been horrified to have paid full price. We didn't complain because the kitchen staff were all congregating around the bar but certainly will not be back.
