I brought my husband to Miller and Carter for his birthday meal and they didn’t disappoint. We were greeted straight away by the host/manager who wished my husband a happy birthday. When arriving to our table there was a birthday message written on a board in chocolate, that was a lovely touch. Our waitress was lovely. She took our drinks order promptly and came back and took our food order. Our food was all cooked to perfection. Everything was on point this night. This has got to have been our best ever experience at a miller and carter. Thank you so much Shenley for making my husband’s birthday so special

Absolutely fantastic as always! They had a set menu for Sunday which was £33.50 for 3 courses. Essentially the starter and dessert worked out at less than £5 after I had chosen my steak! Nigel our server was absolutely incredible! Super friendly, knowledgable, polite and generally a lovely man! (Someone give this man a bonus)Thank you!

Decent. Went to this place for a family member birthday. Staff were amazing . Very welcoming and attentive. Every restaurant varies when it's filled. When we was there it wasn't that busy so everything went smooth. They had run out of a few things which is expected on a Sunday of valentines weekend. In all I do recommend this branch of Miller and Carter.

Our server Nigel was so lovely he couldn’t have done enough so big big thank you to him for making our dinner perfect. Actually, it can be given 4 stars but I left happy, what is important is that I have a pleasant time. There is a large parking lot in front of the restaurant. I just want to be remembered, don't forget to make a reservation.

Our table was beautifully decorated, adding an intimate and personal touch that made us feel genuinely valued. Our waiter, Tom, was absolutely brilliant. He struck the perfect balance between attentiveness and giving us space to enjoy our meal. Friendly, professional, and attentive, he ensured every aspect of our dining experience was smooth and stress-free. Now, onto the food: incredible doesn’t even begin to cover it. The steak was very middle of the road. The cut was to thin to cook properly - it was fairly grey throughout. I expect a well cooked good quality Med-Rare steak to be caramelized on the outside and very pink and juicy inside.

The waitress provided us with 5* service and we could not be more grateful! The sharing cote de beouf was superbly cooked, scallops a little over but still incredibly tasty. Thank you very much! We visited the Shrnley Church end branch this evening after recommendations from a family member. We ordered the prawn cocktail and scallops for starters, the scallops were the size of a 10p piece and overcooked, the prawns in the cocktail were covered in paprika completely masking any flavour of the marie sauce, very disappointing, the ribeye steak that we asked to be medium was completely dry. Lost all flavour and the chips were awful. The lamb rump crispy on the edges. Not well done, but burnt. The pea puree was definitely not pureed but lightly smashed up garden peas. The red wine rue had not been cooked off £141 with two wines and two gins, highly disappointing Will not be recommending to others. The waitress was A*

We visited the night before my husband‘s birthday while staying nearby. Warmly greeted, food ordered quickly and starters were delicious. That is the end of the end of anything positive I can say. Our waiter Tom, came and told us unfortunately he had made a mistake with our order, apologised and offered us another drink each. We believe he had forgotten to put the main course order through to the kitchen. This was not a problem, we were happy to wait and know these things can happen. Amy, a member of the management team, also came over to apologise and check we had been offered a complimentary drink. Our butchers block (for sharing) arrived, with all the trimmings. Unfortunately the steaks were only just warm, and the chips and onion loaves cold - we returned the food. Amy came and apologised again. We asked her to check that the food is hot enough before it reaches us, she readily agreed and said she would go one better and get Stephen, the manager, whom we had also met by this time, to check it himself. This didn’t happen. The new food arrived – however it wasn’t nicely presented with the onion loaf or tomatoes etc It was just the steaks on an ordinary dinner plate. We were told the sides would follow. The chips were cold again. As Amy was walking past we called her over – her words were ‘I am speechless’. This was in relation to how the steaks were served and the coldness of the chips. Both Stephen and Amy said this was unacceptable and they didn’t understand what was going wrong. This was now two hours plus after we had arrived. We were offered anything we wanted off the menu and told everything would be complimentary however we had lost our appetites by this time. We didn’t want to wait any longer and said we would call it a night. Stephen suggested we at least have a dessert so we weren’t left completely hungry - we accepted. He also appeared with two bottles of wine to wish my husband a happy birthday and asked for contact details to send a goodwill voucher as an apology for ruining what should have been a special occasion – and my husband‘s first visit to a Miller and Carter (I had finally persuaded him to give Miller and Carter a try). Unfortunately, we are still waiting for the promised voucher (date of meal 13th December). They did take my husband’s details, they also had my contact details from the booking. There were other little things that were wrong, in the grand scheme of things they weren’t worth mentioning at the time, or in this review. I really fail to see how a well-known restaurant brand can get things so wrong, and the management team, although seemingly doing the right things on the night, not follow through as they said they would. If I could give no stars, I would have done so.

The staff were attentive from our first step into the restaurant and the waitress who served us today was an absolute delight. Clear understanding of the menu and made recommendations when we asked. I genuinely would say it was one of the best service I have had. In terms of food, it was also flavoursome. We wanted to try different cuts so ended up ordering the butcher's block, which was more than we hope for. My only constructive feedback (and mainly applies to what we ordered due to different cuts of meat), would be a quick introduction to which cuts presented on the board. However, as mentioned, it's been a wonderful experience and well worth the price (food and service) and no doubt, we will be attending again in the new year! Keep it up!

While we generally enjoy our visits to your restaurants and the food is excellent there were problems with our last visit. The table selected for us by the restaurant staff was in a spot where it was extremely cold (we had my mother with us who is 91yrs old and has a low tolerance for cold in her advanced years). After sitting there for a couple of minutes I noticed the air-con unit above me was on gently blowing cold air causing a draft and it felt like we were sitting outside (it was an extremely cold evening in mid December already). It got to the point where I had to get up, find restaurant staff and ask to be re-seated in a warmer part of the restaurant. After being re-seated it was fine. Apart from this seating mistake by the initial staff (I do believe the initial staff member should have been able to make an assessment by looking at the 4 person party and seating us in a warmer area from the start based on our ages, 91yrs, 76yrs, 60yrs & 54yrs. As older people colder spots do not work for us), the service and food was excellent.

£191 order half was delivered 18.42pm and the other half 19.15pm . The mains were delivered first and were Luke warm on arrival. Then after waiting 33mins the starters to our meal turned up and were cold. We served up starter’s and consumed but was cold. The mains were then served and were stone cold. Chips were inedible the steak was cold throughout and not pleasant and most of the food was not eaten. This was a very expensive meal and service was totally unacceptable.

I visited for a relaxed Sunday lunchtime meal. We were pleasantly greeted at the door and seated immediately. We were quickly greeted by Angelica, who was an absolute super star! Her service was second to none, personalised and professional, friendly and knowledgeable. She is such an asset to this restaurant!! There was plenty of choice on the menu, with very little that was unavailable. And this was all very clearly explained too. Our meal was delicious. Everything arrived in a timely manner, but never felt rushed. Everything arrived at a great temperature and was served exactly as ordered. The steak was melt in the mouth good, and even side dishes were packed full of meaty goodness! The only negative thing I can say is actually about the guests on the table next to us. They have to be rudest, most self-obsessed people I have had the displeasure of dining alongside. From the second they sat down everything was a problem for them - from the availability of the different menus to the way items were served. Everything needed to be very clearly explained to them again and again as they just weren't able to read the VERY clear menus for themselves, or listen to the incredibly clear explanations given. They (obviously) complained shortly after a huge sharing platter was served stating that the steaks were cold because the butter hadn't melted yet - but they hadn't actually touched or tried the steak! The butter is super cold and takes time to melt, which they failed to understand. But we knew right away that they were going to complain about something - I don't think anything could have pleased them! BUT... that gave Angelica so many opportunities to show just how good she was. She handled EVERY little issue with pure professionalism and incredible patience. She juggled multiple tables effortlessly, whilst also giving the huge amount of additional attention to these challenging guests. If I hadn't heard the conversations for myself, I would never have realised just how much she was dealing with. I would give her a job in a heartbeat, so whatever you are paying her is not near enough!!

The food was well presented and the steaks, two 5oz fillet, looked okay. One of these steak appeared to be a real fillet, although the quality was poor, it was cooked as requested. Not sure what the second fillet was, it was an indeterminate cut of meat, which was gristly and chewy, some of which I had to waste as it could not be suitably chewed for swallowing. It could have been the head of the fillet, but even they are better than this one was. Other than that the rest of our party were satisfied.

Service was good. The serving staff were welcoming. The basic quality of the ingredients was good, bu the time it took from kitchen to table was bad. My soup was barely above body temperature. The chips that came with the steak were cold and had lost their crispness and the peppercorn sauce had formed a skin. The flavour and tenderness of the steak was good, but it to had cooled significantly by the time it was served. Overall the meal was OK; not good

Our waitress Roxy was wonderful, food preparation seemed rushed not the usual standard and spent alot of time ignored while watching Rebecca, who i assume is a manager in a white shirt, examine how well each member of staff polished every wine glass in sight...to the point that she was basically telling them off openly infront of all the customers and arguing with them all about how shiny the glass was under a microscope, rather then them doing what they usually do when we previously visited and tend to the diners with happy smiles. Was entertaining in a way to watch her huff and puff with a frown from 1 glass to the next. Embarrassing for the usually happy and friendly staff who always work hard to please the customers. Not very professional tbh considering the amount we spent to watch her behaving petty and confrontational and she didn't seem to care that families were trying to enjoy their meals. We were not able to have a conversation between us for fear she might tell us off for talking and didn't even finish eating just wanted to get out of there as soon as possible. I made sure I tidied my dishes neatly before we left incase she chased me on the way to to the car to tell me off.

When we arrived we were led to a booth- we’d requested a round table but were told it had been allocated to a larger party (fair enough) but an experienced host would have worked out that a party of 5 people including an 85 year old, an 84 year old, a 75 year old and a 63 year old might have been better suited to a table. I ordered a soft drink with no ice- it came as a bottle (no offer to open it) and a glass full of ice… when it was pointed out that no ice was wanted the server dumped out the ice on to their serving tray. The 85 year old (whose birthday we were celebrating- not that anyone bothered to ask) stated that she had a small appetite and would have liked chicken so, after some deliberation- with no assistance from the server, it was requested that she’d like a chicken breast (advertised as an extra on a salad) and some chips (and perhaps a bit of salad). What came out was woeful- overcooked chicken and a pot of chips, no plate dressing- watercress or salad it looked pitiful. One of our guests had the half-rack of ribs which was provided with no bib, wipe or finger-bowl… in fact we had to ask for this. Dessert was no better- the Creme Brûlée is advertised as served with berries (plural)- 1 pitiful raspberry and a cornflower in a metal Petrie dish and not really brûléed. The cheesecake is advertised as with whipped cream- what same was a melted puddle of cream about the size of a £2 coin- this was sent back advising it was not wished to be replaced. More than 5 minutes later it was replaced and when refused, the server got slightly annoyed advising I hadn’t said I didn’t want it replaced- when in fact I had. We then had several attempts at trying to get someone’s attention for the bill and in the end we gave up and I had to go to the hostess station to request it. We were in the restaurant for more than 3 hours and weren’t offered a refresh of drinks. All in all, a wholly disappointing experience.

Had fixed price lunch menu. Starters very nice and tasty and main meal meat cooked well and tender but as before find vegetable accompaniments to meal limited and boring. Not very exciting. Also choice of non alcoholic beer Lucky something gross. But still good value compared to main meal prices.

We arrived with no reservation and were seated to a table promptly. The server was polite and attentive. I attempted to order one of the cocktails but was told there was a missing ingredient. I had the chateaubriand sharer and it was cooked to perfection. All the sides were delicious as was the wine. I would recommend this Miller and Carter

We had not booked but were welcomed by a member of staff who quickly showed us to our table. It was quiet and peaceful exactly as we asked. Our waitress Kristin was delightful and we soon had drinks and water. We have very small appetites and so we asked to share a starter and a main. It was easily achieved. Later we shared a dessert. The meal was tasty, hot and plentiful. Even taking into account the fact that we were sharing, we were replete. Overall a good experience. Thankyou Kristin and other staff.

Lovely main and dessert. Let down by tepid/ lukewarm cappucinos. They were kindly replaced...with two more tepid/lukewarm capuccinos....yuk! The cost of coffees were taken off the bill. I think you need to check the heater on the milk dispenser, maybe? We didnt order Frappès......

Worst Miller & Carter we have visited. Several members of staff walked past us before actually seating us to our table. Drinks took ages to arrive and when they did my cocktail tasted so watered down and disgusting. Complained to our waitress where she repeated several times that they use the right measurements & wouldn’t accept the fact that the drink was awful. She did let me change my drink in the end. Whilst waiting for our food we overheard several customers complaining about how their steaks were cooked and several had to be remade which didn’t look promising. My partner didn’t get his lettuce wedge that was meant to come out before the meal ! I told the waitress that he hasn’t received it and her reply was we’re busy I’ll go and get it. My partners steak was very tough and chewy , a lot of fat on it. After our meal we ordered two more drinks, our server gives us our bill before even receiving these drinks ! Had to remind her that we are waiting on them. Card machine then doesn’t work and on the 2nd attempt she realises there is no receipt paper in it. Overall an awful experience, considering it’s not the cheapest of restaurant’s I do expect better.

The food was fine. The service was not great. We are the ribeye and scallops. Both were cooked really well and very tasty. On arrival, we were left waiting for quite a while. It seems like management has the host setting the tables, meaning her post was left unattended often. At the other end of the meal I think we were left waiting while our server had their smoke break after saying they were just going to grab the card machine. If management want to improve things, they should look at hiring 'bussing' staff members who clean and set the tables and run the card machine around, (or else consider allowing people to pay online if they're avoiding paying enough staff.)

I will start off by saying the food we had was very good (desserts unavailable and creme brûlée inedible but sent back no problem) The waitress was lovely very attentive and couldn’t fault her! The front of house female was just awful, we queried sitting in the overflow bit as we booked weeks ago, she said that’s all we have and if you wanted the main restaurant you should of put that on your booking, I said so it’s my fault then, well that was like a red rag to a bull she completely flipped and said she will eject me from the restaurant if I keep being rude as she won’t want her staff to serve me, so I had to go with it as we had a birthday voucher that needed using, she sat us down and I spoke to a nice young manager who apologised for her and offered us a free drink! Her demeanour was extremely unprofessional and she clearly needs a few lessons in hospitality, I watched her bringing people to the tables etc and she looked miserable and clearly doesn’t enjoy her job, we have been coming here since it opened and we have never sat in the overflow bit which is why we were surprised, common decency was all it needed not the defensive rude tone we encountered! The manager and waitress were really good but sadly we won’t be coming back here.

Our server, Angelica, was awesome. Friendly, efficient, everything you could want in wait staff. The Watermelon cocktail was refreshing! I had the marrow bone for a starter. I am glad this was brought back. Don't take that off the menu. We chose M&C because of it. Without it, we would've gone to Oligarchs. The sirloin I ordered was bland. As in not as flavourful as a 50 day aged steak should taste. It didn't taste aged at all. My companion didn't have any complaints about his ribeye, but then again he would eat a shoe if it were seasoned right. The biggest complaint is the salad bowls. Please, either put the wedge salad - which requires the use of a knife - on a plate or cut it into bite sized pieces. The struggle is real. I watched a large man with huge hands, attempt to cut his salad in the tiny wooden bowl whilst said bowl spun around like a whirling dervish. Overall, the quality has gone down over the past year. It now feels like how Beefeater used to feel. Before it started to feel like Harvester. Although now Harvester feels more like a Beefeater used to. For the prices, the quality should be higher.

Superb experience as always from Miller & Carter. 2nd time myself and my wife have been to this one, really nice atmosphere here. Both times we have been served by the superb Angelica, who is a credit to the company. The best waitress ever. Angelica instantly recognsed us from our first visit and there was almost a 3 month gap if not more between the visits. How many waitresses would recognise again?. Very knowledgable, helpful, polite and pleasant. This is now our go to Miller. Thank you Angelca. Mr & Mrs Simmonds.

Visited 3 times now so far while working in the area. The manager is very friendly and helps with recommending different things from the menu. Burgers are my favourite food and you definitely tell the meat is quality, everything tastes fresh. We will be returning again.

We go annually and for the last two years we have been served by Dave. We ended up at the same table, with the same seats and always order the same food. The service has always been exceptional and steaks have always been cooked excatly how we like them. Thank you Dave for always making a special birthday treat for my daughter, that little extra.

I eat here quite often, the sea bass is fantastic, the chicken salad is a nice size and absolutely lovely and the signature burger is full of taste. The service is great, Andi in particular is very attentive and happy. I recommend Bar +Block to locals and for people staying away, really good value for money
