25/09/2024 - Ate here due to being on a business trip. I was on my own, went to the desk to get a table. The guy on the desk was lovely and explained there wasn’t one available therefore could I go back in 10 to 15 minutes. If I’d like to get a drink at the bar and wait. I returned after 15 mins, there was a man ahead of me in the queue. He asked for a table, this time it was the Manager, a rather large guy, with a beard. Unfortunately I didn’t get his name. He proceeded to tell the man there weren’t any tables available. He asked us both to go and wait, yet again for me in the bar area. I explained I had already been asked to wait 10 to 15 mins and to come back. At this point I had waited 25 mins and explained this to him. He then became rather rude and said, “no you haven’t,” arguing with me, “and anyway there is this lady and these 4 people ahead of you before you can have a table.” Pointing at other people in the bar area. He smirked sarcastically as he said it. Then walked away!!! Extremely rude. The man ahead of me in the queue turned to me and said, “ he’s extremely rude isn’t he?”to which I replied, “ yes, you call that Customer Service?” If my meal hadn’t of been pre-paid by work, I definitely would’ve found somewhere else to eat. The Manager made me feel extremely uncomfortable especially being on my own. I had travelled by car for 4 hours was tired and hungry. The food wasn’t great I wouldn’t go there again. The Eton Mess I ordered, the fruit was still frozen - hence I couldn’t eat it. All in all my customer service experience wasn’t a pleasant one. I wish I had the Manger’s name to be more precise. Anyway you’ll know who he is. The date of my visit was 25/09/2024. Just to add the two girls who served me were very pleasant and gave great service. Both a credit to the restaurant as were very polite, friendly and attentive. A shame they had a poor role model in their Manager. I definitely wouldn’t return anytime soon!!! I await a reply.

Had a great meal with the family here. They cooked the steak perfectly. Exactly how I asked, rare.

Food and atmosphere were pretty good. However, Waheed, our server was fantastic. He took the time to explain the menu to us and was attentive throughout the meal.

Absolutely amazing food and the service was outstanding, our waitress went above and beyond. Can't recommend this place enough :-)

Not to busy on Friday night, great food and quick service

Came to restaurant to celebrate wedding anniversary. When arrived no member of staff in restaurant to be seen . shortly , think was a duty manager showed us a table. Asked a question regarding drinks By the answer only could presume as manager on duty didn’t know drinks menu . When we ordered we asked on our stakes to have garlic butter on side, out of 4 only 1 had on side, we asked to be medium stakes was Close to medium to well and well done . Starters was tasty no problem with it. But main course was disaster. I worked for over 15 years in hospitality, and I can tell customer service here was bad . It’s unacceptable when the chef is calling a service to pick the food and no member of staff to be seen, and chef is bringing starters, restaurant was empty. When mains arrived Waitress asked who is having medium to well stake with no butter , we told as order is wrong . She came back to kitchen to confirm order . And shortly came back with plates stating as she read it wrongly ticket. ( got nothing g to waitress as she just started a shift) , We ate as we was hungry . Lady asked how was food, personally I didn’t want to say anything only my husband was answering. Was it good experience . no it wasn’t Bill over £90 was , waste of the money . For that experience Not recommend

We had a great Saturday brunch! Vicky looked after every aspect of our visit to restaurant. She made us feel extremely comfortable and she walked through menu with ease. Absolutely fantastic food, lovely starter of garlic prawns and an amazing steak for main. All courses were a delight. The steaks could not have been tastier and better cooked. The sides complemented the meal wonderfully. Cocktails were a hit. Overall wonderful !! Highly recommended

An unexpected Sunday Lunch did not disappoint. Top class roast with all the trimmings. The veggies were fab too and we ordered a couple of sides but we didn't need them. Also the childrens roasts were huge. Our waitress, Yavanna couldnt do enough for us, she was really lovely. Totally recommend this place and we will definitely return.

I was staying in the PremierInn and had a meal deal, that included a rump steak - so I thought I’d give that a go. I had it with the house rub and it was fabulous, a good size, thick juicy and no fat. Everything else was great also - as was the service. Breakfast the following day was also good, so overall one of the best overall PremierInn experiences I’ve had. Well done and thank you.

What a fantastic evening at Bar and Block. A great Welcome by the team and outstanding service from Kate all evening. Our food was faultless, fresh, hot, tasty, great value and no long wait but also not hurried. A thoroughly relaxing and enjoyable evening.

Food was average and very small. Had the beef short rib burger was smaller than a cheeseburger from mcdonalds. Service was rubbish aswell wont be going back

Visited here two nights when away for work. The food is very average but adequate. This particular Bar and Block absolutely stinks of sewage/blocked drains in the bar area which really ruins the experience. The one thing that stood out on our visits and made it enjoyable, was our waitress Andi. She was so friendly, attentive, and jovial. She was also kind enough to let our party stay in the dining area for drinks as the bar area smelled so bad. She is a real gem.

We've been for the breakfast buffet 3 times now. Each time the staff are really polite and helpful. Today, we were looked after by the lovely Panita. There's a good choice of food from buffet and it's cooked well. Great value for money.

Travelling around the country for work and when opportunity presents itself it has to be Bar & Block. Andi gave warm and friendly service putting me in a booth near the kitchen. I was serenaded by the singing chef Natalie. Great to see a happy engaged team who care about hospitality. Ribeye was amazing along with my refreshing pint of Prava. What will tomorrow night service be like?!? I’ll keep you posted!

My family and I went to eat dinner at the Bar + Block Steakhouse as we were stopping at the Premier Inn over night. We were looked after by Yavanna, who was absolutely amazing. She went above and beyond our expectations and really looked after us, which made our trip even more amazing. Yavanna welcomed us with a friendly smile, she explained what are specific meal deal included and what was extra supplement. She also apologised for the lengthy wait (over 20mins) for our drinks, she checked on us several times through out our meal, to ask if we were ok with food n drinks. Overall our meal was ok, presentation lovely but actual taste of food nothing special and abit expensive for mains. Thank you to Yavanna for making our meal out as a family extra special.

Spent my afternoon working at Bar and block Milton Keynes. Had three starters for my lunch all three were delicious. The staff were very accommodating and friendly. Would definitely come again. Many thank B&B team

Never been to a bar & block so not sure what the standard is or should be, but visiting the Milton Keynes branch today didn’t leave a good impression. I must say the waitress was very attentive and I couldn’t fault her. The food however… we ordered 3 small plates for £17 the burnt ends which were overcooked and dry but soaked and sitting in oil. The Halloumi fries were super crispy, deep fried beyond belief! The chicken wings were sticky but tasteless. Next the mains, we ordered almost the same, fillet steak (it’s a ‘steakhouse’, so should be good) and chips with a shared corn on the cob side. The corn after one bite was an absolute no go for me, it was so mushy and overcooked, the chips although nice and chunky had a strange metallic taste to them. The fillet, ordered medium and served medium but was a bit grey… in both colour and taste. The waitress did ask how our food was and we were too embarrassed to complain but given the price (over £90 for two) it was nothing compared to other steakhouses. The microwave(s) was working overtime, the door slammed and pinged every 15/20 seconds and that is no exaggeration. Save your money and cook yourself or spend the same and go to another steakhouse where the quality is exceptionally better. We will never return

This hotel is one of my favourite destinations when I travel to Milton Keynes for work, great rooms and excellent food. Staff have always been polite and very professional and a young lady called Yavi who served in the restaurant did an excellent job at ensuring everything was perfect for the meal.

Having tried what we thought was all the steakhouses in the area (MK) we come across this place with lots of positive reviews about the food….. All I can see is those people need to get out more the three starters ordered for our table and one additional side all appear to of come from a packet and slung in the microwave, this is no exaggeration all we heard from the kitchen was ping ping ping. There was absolutely no chief input with what we received. Our corn on the cob was like the mush you would receive at a KFC kept in a water draw for hrs on end. For what was paid we could have got something really nice from Miller and Carter or Middletons. I rate this place just under Harvester, don’t waste your money.

Came for a breakfast on Sunday morning. Great range of food and a lady called Tia was very welcoming and helpful with how it all works for the buffet breakfast which our family enjoyed. Will come back again.

Half the steak was over cooked half fine no issue. Service from Michael was outstanding and he offered he replacement steak but I refuse. True Gem

After booking for breakfast with the kids and being invited to start at the buffet by a really helpful waitress, once into the restaurant my family with two small children were challenged about what we were doing by the waiter shouting across the restaurant in front of other customers in an embarrassing way. We were confronted in an aggressive manner whilst this man stood over us and questioned what we were doing because as it became apparent he didn't know his colleague had started earlier and invited us to sit down. He stated he was the only person on shift until 09:00, so intimating that we were lying. My 5 year old daughter said at this point "dad I'm scared", and when my partner tried to impart some reason he physically snatched a water bottle from her hand. His manner was unbelievable and brought attention from the full restaurant of customers. I can only deduce that the differential treatment we received was based on the fact that we are a non white family, as we then saw him greet other white customers in a polite manner. I'm shocked and saddened that my family had to experience such a demeaning experience because of this individual.

Great service from the manager Chris who was helpful and a good conversationalist. The food was well prepared by the chef Kyle and the steak was well seasoned and flavoured.

All you can eat experience, help yourself to everything you want and need, bacon ,mushrooms and eggs OK, sausage a bit enimic for me, but good value for money.

Staff handled my order perfectly, i was greeted with a welcoming smile, and the food of course was delicious. Highly recommend this place I will be back again soon!😁

slow service/ worst steak I ever tasted, full of fat tried addressing this with the staff he wasn't interested and tried to educate me with different cuts of steak. onion rings were like from Iceland overcooked.

I've been here on a few occasions for work, and I can confirm I've never once been let down. Today, Emma Emma and Emma delivered exceptional service whilst also being relatively new to the role (unbeknown to me until I asked), natural talent in the form of both the service and attention to detail. I wish her every success in the future. And would like to express my thanks for the wider team and kitchen staff. The food was great (as reflected by the above rating), and I can confirm I'll be returning soon!

Came in tonight for the wife’s birthday dinner and we were not disappointed, Yav our server was so nice and had great banter. As for the food we ordered a steak sampler which was delicious and a spiral ribeye, both were spot on and crackin starters aswell burnt ends with just the right amount of chimmi churri. Great deserts aswell! Def coming back ! Thank you Guys!

Cool calm vibes, chilled music and nice decor, stayed here couple times and was greeted by a really pleasant host (Andrea), who remembered my previous visit a few months ago. She was very attentive & even remembered my previous order (really impressive). Great starter, sadly my burger was a little over done, but overall a good dining experience & I will certainly be back. Me and a friend went for a few drinks at the bar. It was almost empty and we had to wait at the bar for just over 8 minutes just for someone to serve us at the bar. When we did eventually be served I asked if they had a Raspberry and apple J2O to which I was told with attitude ‘nope. Just those two’ and pointed to two other flavours in the fridge. Being dyslexic I couldn’t read the orange coloured one and said ‘the orange one please’ and he rolled his eyes at me. A second time my friend went up to the bar for a drink who members of staff at the end of the bar was stood chatting, both looked at my friend and carried on their conversations until it was convenient for them to serve my friend. Do not recommend, bad service and won’t be returning!

The staff at this restaurant were simply amazing. I was dining in on my own as part of a business trip and was made to feel so welcomed and looked after by Andra. Great food, great staff and great vibe. The 2for1 cocktails before 8pm made it even better🙂

Decided to order some food from the bar after waiting 10 minutes for the bar to be manned! Given food by waitress and walked off - no cutlery or condiments that are all held behind the bar, so had to get myself from behind the bar (not an area you are meant to go as a punter). Amazing lack of attention. To be fair, the manageress works really hard but the staff around are just poor. Food average, once I could eat it. But it gets worse, At 9.31 called last orders 🤷‍♂️ (no reason given except we can close when we want) 9.40 three residents walked in, told closing and to go up the road if wanted a drink. In all my years, never seen anything like it! Wish I had recorded it! Avoid like the plague! Nice basic place but shame about the staff. Hopefully their employers pick this up albeit I doubt it.

Fabulous meal in a lovely setting. Having a severe nut allergy I rarely eat out but was put at ease from the moment I walked through the door. Our waiter was genuine and engaging. All agreed it was a lovely place to return to whether for work or pleasure. We will return.

We came and ate here 1/3/24 and it was amazing!. The staff was incredible all very friendly and accommodating we had a server called Liesa (hopefully the correct spelling) and she was amazing. The food was so good and tasted so fresh and we all found something we liked.

Amazing food and great service. Our waitress Yav was very welcoming and nice. We ordered some wings and mac and cheese bites for starters which were delicious ! (Especially mac&cheese bites) For mains we had burger and ribs and OMG my ribs were probably the best I had in MK!:) Tiramisu for dessert was also fantastic and not too sweet…served in a nice glass :) Would 100% recommend and will definitely come back

The two stars are for the friendly waiting staff and the delicious cocktail. The food, however, was a disappointment. We had to return the spiral fillet steak because it came rare (we asked for medium); when it came back, it was still rare, and was thrown carelessly on the plate. The other steaks were tough and cooked inconsistently. The chips were mediocre. Hugely overpriced. You'd be better off buying a supermarket steak!

Returned here many times. Nice restaurant and comfortable surroundings Felt on this occasion, probably due to costs, my feta salad was mostly onion… which was disappointing and less chicken on my skewer , again more onion.

Good food, steak cooked really well. The service was friendly. Little disappointed with items unavailable on the menu. I imagine this place has a good lively atmosphere on a Friday and Saturday evening. We went mid week, so was a little quiet.

My wife suggested trying out Bar + Block for a steak dinner, so we gave it a go. We had the fillet steak and it didn’t disappoint. My only criticism was the speed of the service; it took a fair while to get our first round of drinks, and the place at that point was empty other than another table. All in all though, an enjoyable meal and experience.

Considering this is apart of Premier Inn it really does exceed all expectations. The steak was so good and cooked perfectly. The bar + block steak sauce is a must. I had to order more it was so tasty. Staff are all really friendly and helpful also.

An expensive regret! Very disappointing. Wife and I decided on a Sunday lunch here and wish we hadn't. Chateaubriand was well cooked and very good. However: - service was very poor with only 2 waiters on duty. No manager in sight. So many tables left waiting ages for service, food and drinks. Management should be helping staff if there's a surge in customers. Unacceptable! - took over 20 mins to order a 2nd drink. - triple cooked chips and fried were cold and not even cooked. Were replaced. - spinach inedible mush. Worst of all we're the toilets were filthy and hadn't been cleaned for days it looked like. Won't be back to this place.

Majorly Long wait from starter to main. Our one kid meal was sat under the hot lamp for 25mins. My meal came with the wrong chips and was tepid. Restaurant looks nice at one point we couldnt see any staff any where. We asked for the bill the waitress was polite and appologetic the manager swanned over with his card and didnt read the room where we were dissipointed and didnt want small talk. No appology just i came with my card. We came here as the barn beefeater had an issue with their electric wont be visiting again over priced food for such a slow service.

Very pleasant staff and good value meal. I had lamb Sunday roast which had a good selection of vegetables. The lamb was dry and overcooked which surprised me as it was 1 o clock and only just started serving. Also not sure what part of the animal it came from as didn’t resemble leg or shoulder, but overall a pleasant experience made good by the friendly staff.

The waitress was great, but what let's it down is the kitchen it takes too long to get food out to you. It is a big shame because it has the potential to be a great place to eat.
