I eat here quite often, the sea bass is fantastic, the chicken salad is a nice size and absolutely lovely and the signature burger is full of taste. The service is great, Andi in particular is very attentive and happy. I recommend Bar +Block to locals and for people staying away, really good value for money

This morning an Oversized gentleman by the door refused to let me in for breakfast despite the fact that I told him I drove from far and I was a regular! I have been over 20 years in the restaurant industry as manager and never knew that ONE person can have such an impact on the quantity of food on a buffet style operation (reason presented) ! This is just ugly attitude and opposite of kindness towards people! Shame on you ! I will never ever ever come back to this this inhumane attitude towards service!

Yavanna was lovely and made our night very enjoyable. Food was great, compliments to the chefs. Couldn’t recommend more highly.

Visited for a meal while staying in Milton Keynes, lovely atmosphere and very enjoyable meal. Andi was our server and was very helpful and attentive. We enjoyed our food, which was well prepared and presented. A great experience from start to finish, all the staff we encountered were friendly and professional. A special mention for the churros dessert which was perfect to finish. We will be back when we're next in the area.

We visited for a meal while staying locally for the weekend. Lovely relaxing atmosphere, service from Andi and other staff members was excellent. We felt comfortable here. Our meals were well prepared and presented and the churros dessert was to die for. This was the best experience we've had in a restaurant for a very long time. We will be back when we're next in the area.

I come here about three times a year for 2 days at a time. It has always been good but it does depend on who you have serving. Andi is amazing, she understands her customers, always has time, a smile and is a customer service queen. The food is good, the environment is nice too, relaxing and chilled out. Breakfast us always top notch.

Good food but theybhave a bad habit of closing the bar early which isn't great if you are staying at the premier inn and arrive late.

Our waitress Yav was excellent. Clear, fun and really helpful. Approachable and sincere. Top notch. Food came quickly and was very tasty. Atmosphere was great. We were there early so it was quiet which we like but people were queueing by the time we left, proving it's popularity. Second time coming and will definitely be back. Keep it up, you're on to a winner.

The food quality here is fantastic and very well cooked. The flavours of side dishes and meats cooked over charcoal yet with very balanced tenderness is an achievement in itself. There is a great selection of sides and sauces to match the selection of meats too. Everything I expect from a great steakhouse and we'll definitely be back. It's also nice to be able to park outside and just like most places Milton Keynes it's easy to find if you get off at the right roundabout and pick the right bit of the grid. Nice that if you eat too much steak you can go upstairs to the premier inn to sleep it off too. Awesome kids menu too and friendly, helpful staff.

The cozy, warm atmosphere in the restaurant. Our waitress, Andi, was outstanding—attentive, friendly, and always serving with a smile. The food was phenomenal. We ordered a chateaubriand, which came as a massive board of steak, perfectly cooked and bursting with flavor. It was served with asparagus, salad, chips, mushrooms, and onion rings, all of which were just as delicious as the steak itself. The portion was huge for two people, but every bite was worth it. Hats off to the chefs for nailing it! Overall, it was an incredible dining experience, and I will definitely be coming back. Highly recommend!!

Myself and my partner came here for an evening dinner on Valentine’s Day yesterday and absolutely enjoyed every minute. The food was fantastic but the service by Liesa was even better. Absolutely brilliant and thankyou for making our evening special (and for the popcorn).

Andi (female) was my server this evening, she was highly attentive (withoit being a pest), and made sure i was satisfied all the way through. Food was amazing (thank you Chef(s)). 10oz Ribeye with chips and a side of the most delicious truffle flavoured Mac & Cheese... my mouth is still watering!!! Of i am ever in the area again, i will definately re-visit. Thanks guys, super job!

Was a quiet evening but all credit to Yav who was fantastic all evening, working the desk taking orders and running drinks. She was so helpful and friendly throughout. A truly engaged member of staff and a credit to herself. Food was great, tasty, but the service was exceptional

We had dinner reservations for my son's birthday, team were amazing, all so very polite and helpful and an extra special touch was the gift they presented to my son (not something we have seen anywhere else!) Food was great too! Highly recommend this fantastic restaurant, have been a few times for breakfast, lunch and dinner and will definitely be back! Ate Sunday evening with a meal deal while staying in the hotel. Steak was great and the service was amazing. Yav was really lovely and very helpful with recommendations.

I stayed at the Premier Inn above the restaurant (part of the same group of companies). There was a cold spell and it was below freezing outside. But I did not expect the person at the reception desk to be wearing his outside coat. I soon discovered why - the place was very cold. This was partly because the ceiling was very high and I suppose heating such a large space would be expensive. Below the ceiling there were exposed ventilation ducts and other apparatus wrapped in shiny foil, like in a warehouse - not a very good atmosphere for a restaurant. I had to go back up to my room to fetch a fleece jacket to wear over my sweater. The menu was very disappointing, mainly steaks and burgers. OK, it's a steakhouse, but I chose this Premier Inn partly because of the attached restaurant. I wanted more choice. Most steakhouses offer other dishes, like a pie, a lasagne, fish etc. There were several items on the menu that were not available on both nights that I ate there - I guess due to delivery problems. The staff were apologetic but that was little consolation to me. On the second night of my stay I would have walked to The Hub about 10 minutes away, to find a different restaurant, but it was freezing cold and the area did not appear very safe after dark anyway. I would not stay at this Premier Inn again unless I could find somewhere else for evening meals. Having said all that, the breakfast was good and was better value at £10.99 for all you could eat than my cheeseburger and chips in the evening for £15.50. No complaints about the staff - Andi was helpful and polite. Not her fault about the menu, the temperature and the lack of ambience.

The steaks are always cooked exactly how you like them, portions sizes are good and the staff are always lovely. The truffle flavoured macaroni cheese is particularly good.

Had a lovely family meal Xmas Eve, food was great, staff were attentive and in good festive spirits. Lovely atmosphere and will definitely go back

We had the best time here, everyone was so welcoming and attentive, in particular our waitress Eleanor, was so friendly and made us feel very comfortable. The drinks were well made and great value for money and the food was absolutely delicious. The steak was tender and the sides were very well paired. Will definitely be back 🥰

I have stayed here plenty of times over the past year. Yav & Andi in the restaurant each look after me so well. From the first time of service they have been so attentive, getting just the right amount of contact throughout the meal, and always set I e with a smile 😁

What can I say the place is a stakehouse but having said that they didn't have peppercorn sauce or Diane sauce!! Only had Chimichurri i think that for a stakehouse you should always have the main sauce. Myself and my wife ordered our food My wife's food was spot on as requested but unfortunately my food came out under cooked to my order. So asked for them to rectify it. Done so and cooked it a little long but when it came back out my wife had almost finished her dinner. I'd understand if it was busy but we counted 11 other gest on a Wednesday evening. Unfortunately I don't think we will be going back.

Yav was a festive bundle of joy and she’s incredibly good at her job! Would give 6/5 if I could! Food was smashing as well.

Food was good, few things missing out the burger, menu said it comes with salad and mayo and there wasn’t any of that but the burger itself was good. Andi was really helpful and the other girl on shift seemed to be as well. 3 guys standing round talking, not doing a lot, it wound me up just watching so I guess it would the other staff on shift too, 1 in a blazer so I guess manager, 1 on the desk welcoming people, but I can't find an excuse for the other guy

So many places these days are cold and indifferent so it was a delight to have Yavanna who couldn't do enough for us , always checking on us, recommending, adapting food to our needs, helping us have an all round delightful experience! Food here is impressive, large portions and the Sunday roast was top notch ! Recommend highly!

Good stakes but don't come before 1 pm, despite opening hours they're rarely open on time. We were just turned away at 12:05 noon because although they open at 12:00, today.. "they weren't ready ". I guess they are over burdened by the lack of work they get.

Advertised as taking walk ins, went down, paid for parking, then refused to seat us as we weren't staying at the adjoining hotel, despite there being plenty of tables. Utter rubbish.

First off Andi was great. Attentive, recommended items and checked on me through out meal, typical single business diner reading a kindle over dinner! Asked for drink served from bar pre dinner to be changed as had foreign object in it and gentleman looked totally incredulous and unbelieving and silently changed drink with no comment at all! If it wasn't for Andi after that, review would have been so much different.... Andi is a great old fashioned waitress, attentive, knows where her diners are up to and is makes it easy to chat as well. Great asset. Food was good and well cooked/presented, had 3 small plates.

Their breakfast deal offering an unlimited buffet is good value, the food quality for the price paid is much better than I expected. It can be busy so use their website to book a table in advance. Kids eat free which is a big bonus.

Solid meal of food, friendly service, what's not to like?

Sometimes I feel like this place is confused about its identity. I pay £80 for dinner for 2, but if you ask for a cream soda they will bring it to you unadorned in a can that costs 60p at your local shop, they have an excellent wine list but it is spoilt by that horrible stale popcorn at the tables. I wonder if it is a case of cheap and clueless management. Andi knows what she is doing and is very good though.

25/09/2024 - Ate here due to being on a business trip. I was on my own, went to the desk to get a table. The guy on the desk was lovely and explained there wasn’t one available therefore could I go back in 10 to 15 minutes. If I’d like to get a drink at the bar and wait. I returned after 15 mins, there was a man ahead of me in the queue. He asked for a table, this time it was the Manager, a rather large guy, with a beard. Unfortunately I didn’t get his name. He proceeded to tell the man there weren’t any tables available. He asked us both to go and wait, yet again for me in the bar area. I explained I had already been asked to wait 10 to 15 mins and to come back. At this point I had waited 25 mins and explained this to him. He then became rather rude and said, “no you haven’t,” arguing with me, “and anyway there is this lady and these 4 people ahead of you before you can have a table.” Pointing at other people in the bar area. He smirked sarcastically as he said it. Then walked away!!! Extremely rude. The man ahead of me in the queue turned to me and said, “ he’s extremely rude isn’t he?”to which I replied, “ yes, you call that Customer Service?” If my meal hadn’t of been pre-paid by work, I definitely would’ve found somewhere else to eat. The Manager made me feel extremely uncomfortable especially being on my own. I had travelled by car for 4 hours was tired and hungry. The food wasn’t great I wouldn’t go there again. The Eton Mess I ordered, the fruit was still frozen - hence I couldn’t eat it. All in all my customer service experience wasn’t a pleasant one. I wish I had the Manager’s name to be more precise. Anyway you’ll know who he is. The date of my visit was 25/09/2024. Just to add the two girls who served me were very pleasant and gave great service. Both a credit to the restaurant as were very polite, friendly and attentive. A shame they had a poor role model in their Manager. I definitely wouldn’t return anytime soon!!! I await a reply.

Not to busy on Friday night, great food and quick service

Came to restaurant to celebrate wedding anniversary. When arrived no member of staff in restaurant to be seen . shortly , think was a duty manager showed us a table. Asked a question regarding drinks By the answer only could presume as manager on duty didn’t know drinks menu . When we ordered we asked on our stakes to have garlic butter on side, out of 4 only 1 had on side, we asked to be medium stakes was Close to medium to well and well done . Starters was tasty no problem with it. But main course was disaster. I worked for over 15 years in hospitality, and I can tell customer service here was bad . It’s unacceptable when the chef is calling a service to pick the food and no member of staff to be seen, and chef is bringing starters, restaurant was empty. When mains arrived Waitress asked who is having medium to well stake with no butter , we told as order is wrong . She came back to kitchen to confirm order . And shortly came back with plates stating as she read it wrongly ticket. ( got nothing g to waitress as she just started a shift) , We ate as we was hungry . Lady asked how was food, personally I didn’t want to say anything only my husband was answering. Was it good experience . no it wasn’t Bill over £90 was , waste of the money . For that experience Not recommend

We had a great Saturday brunch! Vicky looked after every aspect of our visit to restaurant. She made us feel extremely comfortable and she walked through menu with ease. Absolutely fantastic food, lovely starter of garlic prawns and an amazing steak for main. All courses were a delight. The steaks could not have been tastier and better cooked. The sides complemented the meal wonderfully. Cocktails were a hit. Overall wonderful !! Highly recommended

An unexpected Sunday Lunch did not disappoint. Top class roast with all the trimmings. The veggies were fab too and we ordered a couple of sides but we didn't need them. Also the childrens roasts were huge. Our waitress, Yavanna couldnt do enough for us, she was really lovely. Totally recommend this place and we will definitely return.

I was staying in the PremierInn and had a meal deal, that included a rump steak - so I thought I’d give that a go. I had it with the house rub and it was fabulous, a good size, thick juicy and no fat. Everything else was great also - as was the service. Breakfast the following day was also good, so overall one of the best overall PremierInn experiences I’ve had. Well done and thank you.

What a fantastic evening at Bar and Block. A great Welcome by the team and outstanding service from Kate all evening. Our food was faultless, fresh, hot, tasty, great value and no long wait but also not hurried. A thoroughly relaxing and enjoyable evening.

Visited here two nights when away for work. The food is very average but adequate. This particular Bar and Block absolutely stinks of sewage/blocked drains in the bar area which really ruins the experience. The one thing that stood out on our visits and made it enjoyable, was our waitress Andi. She was so friendly, attentive, and jovial. She was also kind enough to let our party stay in the dining area for drinks as the bar area smelled so bad. She is a real gem.

We've been for the breakfast buffet 3 times now. Each time the staff are really polite and helpful. Today, we were looked after by the lovely Panita. There's a good choice of food from buffet and it's cooked well. Great value for money.

Travelling around the country for work and when opportunity presents itself it has to be Bar & Block. Andi gave warm and friendly service putting me in a booth near the kitchen. I was serenaded by the singing chef Natalie. Great to see a happy engaged team who care about hospitality. Ribeye was amazing along with my refreshing pint of Prava. What will tomorrow night service be like?!? I’ll keep you posted!

My family and I went to eat dinner at the Bar + Block Steakhouse as we were stopping at the Premier Inn over night. We were looked after by Yavanna, who was absolutely amazing. She went above and beyond our expectations and really looked after us, which made our trip even more amazing. Yavanna welcomed us with a friendly smile, she explained what are specific meal deal included and what was extra supplement. She also apologised for the lengthy wait (over 20mins) for our drinks, she checked on us several times through out our meal, to ask if we were ok with food n drinks. Overall our meal was ok, presentation lovely but actual taste of food nothing special and abit expensive for mains. Thank you to Yavanna for making our meal out as a family extra special.
