Miller & Carter Middlewich in Cheshire East

Birthday lunch with friends. A cold steak sandwich, a surly and rude male waiter to the point I asked for another server. No apology at the restaurant. No compensation when I emailed Miller & Carter. Won’t be going again. It’s a shame as I’ve been a few times and it was good. Thank you Miller & Carter for ruining my Birthday lunch with one member of staff who was rude and inappropriate.

What can I say I took all my team out as thank you we pree ordered a week before we had drinks first sat down at our time booked all starters came out perfect the mains were brought out perfectly there was 18 of us perfectly thank you so much guys especially Carl he was amazing thank you Carl

Thoroughly enjoyable meal, served by a first class waiter, called Charlie. A pleasant, knowledgable and very attentive young man. Charlie sets a very high bar for waiting staff! Thank you very much Miller & Carter Middlewich and Charlie for a lovely evening.

A little misc in the outside area would have got the final star on atmosphere.

Really nice restaurant, rather quiet, but we like that. Our meal was good... our only constructive comments: 1. The half an iceberg lettuce with a dressing on top with each meal was a bit odd. Tasty but odd. When it was served it was placed in front of us, like it was a dish in its own right - we were unsure what to do with it? We don't usually eat half a lettuce with a meal, and despite our best efforts, left quite a lot! 2. I had the surf and turf and the lobster was chewy - for the price tag it could/should have been cooked a bit better. £119 for 1 course each, 2 glasses of rioja, and 2 pints of Madri - we planned on having dessert but after a long wait decided not to bother. Would possibly try again! The steaks were nice, onion bake tasty, staff helpful, restaurant clean, ample parking... just a few tweaks would make this 5/5 ✔️

Superb food and superb service.

Turned up 7.30 pm Friday night to an almost empty restaurant prob 5 couples in entire place,2 of which were wearing track suits, one guy in full football kit, so much for dress code, the vibe was more like a weatherspoons , we both had 16oz steak, lots of chewy fat and gristle , not the best cut, fries were cold and not fresh, desert @ £8.50 is a joke , my wife had a super small brownie with what looked like a teaspoon of ice cream, I had cheese cake which came with sloppy borderline warm cream , overall not impressed with this place at all , mediocre food , vibe and food quality very weatherspoonsesk. £126 for 2 🤣won’t be returning . Didn’t check bill till I got home and discovered they gave themselves a £15 tip . So now I see why the car parks empty on a Friday night

Get your kitchen door fixed. It slams loudly every time someone goes in or out. It's really annoying especially if you're close to it

It was our 1st visit to the Middlewich Miller And Carter and we were not disappointed the service was impeccable and the food was amazing as always at any Miller And Carter. Even though it was very busy there were plenty of staff and at no point did we feel we were left waiting. A special thank you to our waiter for the evening I’m really sorry we didn’t get his name but he was from Budapest, outstanding service. We will not hesitate to dine here again.

Nearly an hour late. Cold food and missing items. No answer to phone calls. £22 burger a disappointment.

Jordan was so lovely and provided a wonderful service, the food was fab. We came for a lunchtime menu and it was delicious.

The food was lovely, steak was cooked perfectly and the team here are really friendly and very attentive. Our server was Jordan and he was really sweet. Came to us straight away, checked in to see how we liked the food and was just a very nice person which is what you want when you go out to eat.

Staying away on a business trip and I've now had the pleasure of dining in this fine restaurant twice ! Food was fantastic and cooked how I asked for it , excellent value for money and the staff were very attentive and nothing was too much trouble 😀 Will return anytime im in the area ! Excellent meal with family, all aspects of the evening were perfect. We didn’t book, but were greeted and seated as soon as we arrived. Drinks order taken, order for food taken when we were ready by brilliant staff. The steaks were perfect as was the wedge, and sauces etc.

Just got home from a fantastic family meal to celebrate a family birthday. The M & C staff food and atmosphere were perfect. A family of 8 adults 4 children and 2 babies. We were accommodated with the utmost attention. Carl looked after us and we couldn’t have asked for more. Our dietary requirements of Vegan, Vegetarian and a nut allergy were all serviced with total professionalism. Knowledge of the preferred choices for our preferences was first class. Thank you to everyone from arriving at the door welcome drinks, till our departure. Definitely will be back and recommending.

My chicken bag I was so hard I could not even eat it. It wouldn’t even go through my teeth. It was so hard. I had to put it into the bin.

Attended M&C tonight for a meal with my husband first, his 50th birthday. We hadn't booked, and we were immediately shown a table. We ordered bread and olives for starters. We have been to several M&C restaurants and usually get bread and olives for starters. I was extremely disappointed when it came out, and it was 4 small slices of bread with extremely large portions of butter. This used to be served with balsamic vinegar and beef dripping butter. I was shocked at the presentation and disappointed that you can charge nearly £10 for bread and olives with no presentation. I ordered the lamb, which I asked to be pink. It arrived and was very overcooked, and again, the presentation was extremely poor. Compared to previous pictures, I have of past meals with M&C you have let the team down! My husband had fillet steak, which he said was nice, but once again, the presentation has changed and not for the better. The meal was £90 including tips, which for a mediocre meal is extortionate. M&C used to be one of my favourite restaurants. Sad to say, it certainly isn't now. The young guy Charlie, who served us, was extremely pleasant but seemed very nervous, and we had no checkback to tell him of the faults. Overall, not a bad meal but also not great for the price. You have certainly dropped your standards! Much nicer, cheaper restaurants in the area, and I for one won't be returning!

First time here and food was great. Our friends had steak and we had the lamb and the burger. All absolutely delicious and presented beautifully. Starters of calamari and desserts of crème brûlée and cheesecake were all superb too. Great atmosphere but not too noisy to chat on our table. Service by Charlie was excellent- he was helpful, attentive and friendly. Thank you

Had a lovely meal this evening, the staff were great especially Charlie who was extremely attentive. Had an issue with my starter and it was sorted straight away, I hate to make a fuss and I felt like it was absolutely no issue whatsoever. All the food was absolutely delicious and extremely tasty. The lamb was extremely good. A good choice. Staff all very pleasant and courteous. Very clean and pleasant surroundings. Toilets immaculate. Would definitely go again.

Went for the first time last night and received excellent customer service, so much that I can’t thank them enough for making me and my wife feel so welcome, it was busy but we were served by Shannon she was busy but made us feel like we were her priority but this is because she is so good at her job I then noticed she was rushing and given the same excellent customer service to every single customer in her section. Due to Shannon’s fantastic service which was lovely so Thank you Shannon we will come back, not sure when as unfortunately miller is expensive but we will return.also my wife is coeliac and she made sure that she had everything she needed to enjoy which was a stunning meal one gluten free meal with some sides and my steak was delicious. Lovely just hope MC will do offers so we can return soon. Apart from price of food I definitely recommend.

We attended tonight for the first time and had the valentines menu. The ham hock terrine was delicious. We opted for the Wagu steak which we had medium/ rare and although it was cooked to perfection, it was laced with salt and 25% Fat. Extremely greasy to the point I had to get a pocket tissue out of my bag and dab it down. The chips were frozen and hard and also extremely salty. There was no option for dairy free dessert. We were practically ready to pay the bill when the drink we ordered at least 20 minutes before turned up. The bar tender spent the majority of the 2 hours we were there chatting to one table of customers. It’s safe to say we will never return and as it was our 20 year wedding anniversary it was completely spoilt.

Just wanted to say, my husband and I have just had a takeaway delivery. It arrived hot, the steak was just perfect (and I am very picky with my steak), and the sauce off the scale amazing. Thank you to all involved Graham, Will, Ellie and Jason (who I have been reliably informed were doing the hard work in the kitchen tonight). It was a spur of the moment choice and worth every penny. Thanks all x

Went for a late lunch after a hospital appointment. We were warmly welcomed and shown to our table. Staff were very friendly and, after checking whether we had any allergies or special dietary requirements, advised on choice of menus. We went for a two course set menu. Hubby had the signature dirty burger and sticky toffee pudding. I had the sea bass and crème brûlée. Everything was delicious, fresh and well presented. Thank you to all staff at Miller and Carter Middlewich 😊

Ordered a takeaway of 3 meals , and collected, when I got home and opened the bag, my sons meal (Mac and cheese) was missing.

Excellent evening meal we were served by a very polite and attentive young lad called Charlie that had a rather busy and tricky section. We went with the butchers block with the steaks all medium and all were cooked to perfection. Charlie delt with all his tables extremely well and was very professional especially one in particular that were more on the difficult side of life.

The place was nice… the food was nice but left me with niggling questions… We both had the sticky chicken for starters… my plate had 3 pieces and the Mrs had 6 pieces 🤣 we just chuckled… Put you in a diet the Mrs said… 🫢 it was okay but the difference in the portions was unbelievable and very strange… I had a 7oz ribeye steak 🥩 £5 supplement for my lavish tastebuds 🤔 Chunky chips another £1 supplement? 🤣 All very strange the supplements… why not just show the correct price?? Tomato 🍅 portion was an 1/8 of a whole tomato… 😕 Dessert was crème brûlée 🍮 was served in what looked like a saucepan 🤣 my serving was 1cm high 🤣 was supposed to be accompanied with “berries” I got 1 slice of strawberry 🍓… I had a baileys chocolate orange 🍊 cocktail with my dessert… the only problem was I don’t think 🤔 there was any baileys actually in the cocktail… just frothy milk with a dusting of chocolate powder as a garnish… 😕 The meal was presented well but there was very dubious points about the portions… A bottle of rose Zinfandel wine £26 🫢 I know places have got to make a profit and times are hard at the moment… But… We ate off the daytime saver menu… 3 courses for £32… In total the bill came in at £111… The food what there was of it was nice but left us underwhelmed by the points I’ve highlighted above 👆🏽 we didn’t complain…

Came here in between Christmas and New year to catch up with old friends. The food was amazing and the service was great.

Sunday lunch on your January special menu. We found both the steaks to be cooked perfectly. So tender and delicious. We’re big fans of your beef dripping gravy - I wish you could sell us a big takeaway bucket of it! My chosen dessert wasn’t available but the suggested alternative (not on the menu) was very tasty and a very generous portion. The staff are friendly and attentive. We’ll be back!

Went to try the new Sunday sharing board and couldn't fault it. The welcome from the host was very warm and friendly and the exceptional service continued throughout our meal. The sharing board itself was amazing, the chicken was unbelievably moist and the lamb rump was cooked to perfection. We loved the smoky barbequed flavour on the steak and we both loved the camembert mash, despite neither of us liking camembert! The tiramasu was the best I've had from any restaurant and the lemon tart was perfectly balanced with sweet and tartness. Both desserts looked and tasted home made, which was great. Honestly couldn't fault the experience and would highly recommend.

I always expect a high level of service and food quality from Miller and Carter and they always deliver. Some people may question the prices but you have to remember you are paying for that level of quality and service. For larger groups the price per head is actually quite reasonable.

We had a lovely evening in a busy restaurant but both the food and the service was 5star. Thankyou in particular to Shannon for looking after us. We will be back 😉

Very disappointed. On arrival at 12 30, was greeted by a miserable person who looked at me as if I should not be there. There was only one family in, the rest of the place deserted. Eventually got a booth for myself and business colleague. Asked for the lunch menu, was told there isn't one. So the best value choice was the two courses for £27. Blimey! My colleague said he only wanted a main course, was told it's still £27! So we had the burger and chips It was lukewarm at best. Chips hard and cold. Miserable man waiting on, talk about a dull atmosphere. £54 for 2 burger and chips - robbery. I have been to many Miller and Carter's, this one's the worst. Two stars is for the decor.

Sorry for long review Would give zero if I could visited today with my 8yr old special needs son on entry greet very pleasantly and seated promptly drink order taken sadly this was the last good customer service we had I had to call over different waiters and members of staff the whole time we were there waved over bar staff to ask could I order he went to get our waitress who he couldn't find so he came back to take order himself bless him he was not familiar with the iPad and really struggled next came the starter burnt garlic bread with nearly invisible cheese after waiting ages I then flagged another member of staff to ask could she check on our food as my son was getting flustered she never returned so asked another waitress who brought out our food my steak was ok more rare than medium but ate as was hungry my son ordered tomato pasta and meatballs well he wouldn't even try it the pasta was well overcooked and mushy, the meatballs were stale ,dry and overcooked no one ever came to ask how food was etc I then had to call someone else to order desserts this was the only course my son ate I ate part of mine at this point we got up to go pay the bill as nobody came around I asked the waitress as my son did not even touch his pasta could she alter down from a 3 course to a two course which I thought was fair she said she'd ask to which another member of staff came to tell me she'd have to ask someone else at this point my son was starting to get worked up with waiting i wasn't going to complain and advised the lady that I would just pay as the cost wasn't worth the being passed from one person to another I informed her that the customer service was absolutely atrocious and they need some training as it's really letting them down I have ate at miller and carter for years and regular attend Crewe branch I have never had any issues I am usually not a person that complains but feel that people need to know what the service is like if your expecting miller & carter service do not goto middlewich I will not be returning unfortunately
