Mile Oak Fish and Chips in Brighton and Hove

Absolutely terrible!!!! Waste of food and the owner is an absolute disgrace! He hasn't got a clue, rude, and tries to charge you every penny he can!!! He didn't want to separate the cod with the chips because he didn't want to use another sheet of paper to wrap it. Hadock was undercooked and soggy. Chips soggy too, and the owner is really stingy with the salt and vinegar! Large chips, small cod, and medium haddock nearly £20 quid, definitely not worth it, and you get charged for the 10p bag! Cash only too!!! Joke of a place, last time ever! Never again!!!! F that!!!!

So last week I thought I would just pop in for a bag of chips, the harassed guy in there said I would have to wait 40 minutes 🤷‍♀️ Needless to say I didn’t. The following week I thought I would give it another go and so I actually phoned my order through, the guy said to pick up in 20 mins ( just fish and chips for 2 ) I arrived 20 mins later, and had to wait while he cooked the fish etc and nobody in the shop but me, so he wasn’t rushed off he’s feet. I believe this chap has taken over from previous owners and works on he’s own. Anyway the fish was tasteless and chips weren’t fresh ( bit rubbery) and this for nearly £20 I won’t be going again, which is a shame as it’s my local, but it’s cheaper to go to a blooming restaurant. PS only takes cash and 10p for a bag

I know you work alone but this was awful the fish was flat cod flat? The food at best 2/10 will not visit again sorry no pic as ate in car and chucked most of it in the bin! Definitely not cod that I was eating!

They were out of basically all kinds and sizes of fish, were a little bit snappy not gonna lie and the chips were moist and under cooked. Pretty un-inspring but from what I gather they are one of like two fish and chip shops in the immediate area. They only take cash too - apparently we live in the 80's!

This fish and chip shop is the best in the area all the shops in town (Brighton) are greasy and super expensive there saveloys are a bit good too !!! my only recommendation is if it’s just for one just get the small cod and small chips as anything bigger will feed a few and that’s come from a 6” 20st man !!

Regular fish and chip shop. Very clean. Fish seemed fresh with excellent crispy chips. Friendly staff. Not expensive.

Just had chips and curry sauce, can't get that wrong, right? First of all I had wait around 10 minutes for the chips at peak lunchtime. Once I received my chips they were undercooked and greasy, the curry sauce barely tasted of anything and the portion size was terrible. I won't be revisiting

Nothing of special,was a bit disappointed,at the end paid £14 for 2 fish and chips.Next time I will do them by myself at home.

Always good food at fair prices.Friendly, large portions,and always fresh.Wish I still lived near enough to use more often but a bit of a walk from here.Pop in when ever I visit family living nearby.

Would always use this chippy if we visit one as they cook to order which may take a few minutes more but worth it to have freshly cooked food that isn’t greasy. The guys who work there are always friendly and welcoming and the food is good, highly recommend.

By far the best chip shop I've been to. Their fish is divine and their portion sizes are generous. They are always friendly. Would highly recommend. :)

I’ve just moved to the area - thought I’d try out my local chippy. Expensive and frozen low quality junk. Brb I need to go barry it all back up

The title says it all,THE BEST fish & chippy by far, the guys are just masters of the game! I walk in and order "The usual" and watch the experts rustle up me dinner. The portions are awesome,the batter is perfection as are the chips. Fed a visitor from London a while back and he had to agree they WERE the best fish & chips he'd tasted for a very long time. Absolutely faultless.....I'll be there Friday

This chippy is amazing. The food is freshly cooked by a friendly,happy team of staff. The cod portions are enormous!! The food is great, from the chips, calamari, burgers to sausages, it's all good quality beautifully cooked. You must try it if you haven't already. Love this chippy!!!

This fish and chip shop is by far, the best around this area.we have tried some of the fish and chip shops that are supposed to be 1st class in Brighton, and find them lacking in the quality that the Mile Oak fish and chip shop serves.We have been waiting years for a decent fish shop here in Portslade,I hope the locals use it,or we might lose it,please give it a try.ßß

La cafetería sirve de lejos el mejor pescado y patatas fritas en la zona, de hecho a 4 o en un radio de 5 millas. Todo, incluso las patatas fritas, se cocinan a la orden así que son siempre caliente cuando llegue a casa. El propietario/freidora también es muy amable y ofrece todos los extras "fish and chips" estándar.
