Excellent seafood restaurant on the Brighton seafront. Great service and ability to adapt the menu to suit needs, as swapped out lobster for crab on the platter for one. Well worth a visit.

The Copper Clam in Brighton and Hove is an exceptional dining spot. The ambiance is charming with tasteful décor and a beautiful sea view that adds to the overall experience. The food was exquisite. The tempura oysters and the homemade bread or brioche were to die for – absolutely delicious and perfectly prepared. Paired with fine champagne, the meal was elevated to a whole new level of enjoyment. Overall, The Copper Clam offers a fantastic dining experience with its great food, good service, and stunning views. I highly recommend it for anyone looking to enjoy a fine meal by the beach.

I am not the one who likes to complain, because I know how it feels to work in a busy environment and what it’s like to serve as i too work in hospitality. But unfortunately, the manager of this place was not managing at all. I ordered 2 glasses of rose, and the new team member spilt the wine all over my sister. He was so kind and apologised. Then we order a little seafood platter for one. It took 25 minutes. With everyone already eating and only half of the place full, most of the customers finished with their meals, our one starter still took some time. The oysters were served on salt and not on ice, hence why, it was warm and probably did not taste as good, leaving you with a fishy and metallic bitter after taste, instead of it tasting “fresh” I place a complain, and the team member keeps coming back and forth, communicating with the “manager” took my plate to the kitchen, then she puts it back on my table saying “I’m sorry I spoke to my manager, we can’t comp it, because everything fits the description on our menu and it is fresh. I understand and I was happy to pay for the full bill even though I only ate the prawns and diced whelks. I’m disappointed in the management for not coming up when in need and who can’t apologise or try to make the situation better by giving an alternative dish to replace even just the oysters or show her presence when wine was spilt. Customers are still always right and if they are not happy with the dish you cannot force this upon them. It could have been great but not handled professionally. Overpriced. I live in London, and it’s cheaper here! £38 for this. 3 little prawns, 3 diced whelks cured in citron, it just took out the flavour of the whelks, then you dice it! No sauces or condiments given. Team members lovely. But as I say, when we left, the manager (blonde lady in black) didn’t even say goodbye. Very poor.

The copper clam on the beach scored a straight three stars for food, service and atmosphere. Service was slow and they forgot our drinks order until promoted. Unfortunately our starters arrived at the table before our drinks! They also don't do a large glass of wine, only 175ml small or a bottle. Food was good but not perfect. Mussels were gritty and still had barnacles on them, showing the kitchen had not been bothered to clean them. Lobster roll was over powered by a Herby bread that was so strong in herbs, the lobster was sadly lost! Copper Clam is nice enough, but attention to detail is needed. Some of the umbrellas and signage were looking old and grubby, as were the copper painted pipes in the toilets that were covered in blue grime. Overall however the staff were friendly and the seafood dominated menu sounded enticing. Not sure it's much of a competition for Riddlers and Finn (the current best seafood restaurant in Brighton), but it's certainly a good effort. They just need to pay attention to detail!

Food is ok, but is extremely overpriced! My wife, 3 kids sat for lunch and it cost over £460! Ridiculous Service is quite slow too, overall it’s a nice place to eat, good location but could be so much better!

My friend had never had seafood in the UK before so I brought him and we got a selection of starters (and our first ever oysters) and chips to share. Each dish was fantastic, came very quickly, and the staff were so lovely and friendly :) will definitely be coming back

Another one of brightons little gems. Visited here on a friends recommendation it's a very quaint restaurant smaller than I expected and a little tucked away. Are we glad we Visited we sure are. Very friendly staff with knowledge of all the dishes on offer the cocktails were very nice oysters were also very fresh as you'd expect being at the seaside. Steak was cooked very nicely as was the lobster and accompanying side orders. A very clean and tidy restaurant inside and out we got talking to the lady owner forget her name who made us feel very welcome. I really don't know how she deals with the fact they get people from the beach asking to use the toilet literally every two minutes would drive me literally insane. This place is definitely worth the visit if your down in Brighton. They had two parties upstairs of 15 so service was slightly slower than usual but staff did there best to not keep us waiting too long. Recommended 💯

We loved our meal at copper clam , we had the seafood platter which was any seafood lovers fantasy. A fine selection from lobster , oysters, to welks and langoustines. The mussels and clams were my favourite, the white wine sauce was perfection. Lovely staff and formidable owners. Thank you for our amazing meal.

Guy waiter was a bit of a racist. Cappuccino was as cold as the waitress who served it. Not a friendly restaurant for tourists, in my honest opinion.

We sat there because there were a few free tables. I didn’t mind the prices but of course expecting a higher quality meal compared to other nearby places. But unfortunately ate the most bland sea food ever. Fish of the day and even the lobster were tasteless. Service was slow. Paying £100 for that meal was absurd.

I have always had a wonderful time there before and wonderful food. This time I ordered half a grilled lobster with salad. It was the size of a large prawn and the salad was like a garnish. My friend had sea bass and chips. The smallest fish I have ever seen £35. He would have been better getting fish and chipsTwo glasses of wine and a glass of champagne (£20). Total bill: £126. (Excluding glass of champagne.) Waste of money. Only stayed an hour. Waste of money. Never again.

Absolutely fantastic! We would never go anywhere else in Brighton. Service impeccable, attentive but not over-bearing. Food delicious and not over priced. 5 stars for everything richly deserved. And all right on the beach ! Highly recommended.

Great spot. Definitely gone down hill. The fish tasted fishy, super expensive and when I mentioned that the fish tasted funny they were really unbothered. We paid the bill and left having left most of the meal. No apology no interest what so ever. I felt sick for two days after. Avoid!

What a wonderful little gem on the seafront. The upstairs gets very warm in the summer days, but in the evening the breeze flows from those big windows and you can gaze at the sea, in this beautiful cozy little place. It's not big, even with all the tables outside, so would definitely recommend booking ahead. Easily rivals it's more famous seafood rival Riddle and Finn in quality, though menu isn't as extensive, but price is more affordable. This is still pretty pricey though, but the food is so good you wont notice. The staff were friendly and we didn't even notice we were the last ones to leave as they were attentive and kept offering us more dessert and drinks. Genuinely lovely evening for a date with friends or loved ones. I even saw children earlier in the evening, so they are clearly also welcoming to families! Have nothing bad to say.

Had a really lovely meal at the Copper Clam - only gave the service 3* as they totally forgot to bring our order after taking it. However, they were very apologetic and offered free bread and another round of drinks on the house. When the food all came it was delicious, but they had forgotten again to bring my partners mussels! I think they need a little training in FOH, as the food is delicious, but the service is a little below par. It didn't look like they were short staffed. Would return again though, just for the food!

We were part of an event, we loved the venue, the food and drinks were amazing and above all service was impeccable. Nat was wonderful, very attentive! The rest of the team were great. We would definitely come back again!

I have been coming to this spot whenever I visit Brighton for years and again was blown away by the delicious food and impeccable service. The restaurant's menu offered a wide variety of options. The Moules mariniere were so fresh and perfectly cooked and so flavourful. The steak we ordered were perfectly seared and seasoned. But what truly elevated my dining experience was the excellent service provided by an attentive, friendly waiter named Nat who went above and beyond to ensure that our dining experience was exceptional. Overall, I can't recommend this restaurant enough. The food was top-notch, the service was outstanding, and I am grateful for such a wonderful dining experience. Thank you to the amazing wait staff for making our meal truly wonderful.

Everything was perfect for my daughter's wedding meal. I had prawns, steak and a cheeseboard. It was all delicious. The view is lovely and the staff are friendly and professional. I would recommend a visit, especially if you want to treat yourself and your guests.

First time here … lunch with a friend we Shared a dozen of Oyster. Moules Mariniere in wine sauce, leeks, garlic and cream was simply delicious Crab Fries With Chilli, Spring Onion & Parmesan was mouthwatering.

What a little gem the copper clam is. Food is fantastic and the staff were awesome and attentive. Fresh seafood platter my husband said its just lovely. In fact he didn't speak much as he was so ingrossed in eating it. Definitely will be returning on our next trip to Brighton.

Overall a magnificent evening. Brilliant food, superb staff and of course, great location. We were unfortunate enough to have a table of ten hens next to us which slowed our service down, but it all went well otherwise.

Was lucky enough to walk in and get a seat outside. The staff was amazing and very helpful. Definitely try the crab fries! Also, ask for a smoked old fashion….not on the menu, but the bar tender knocked it out of the park! Can’t wait to come back!

Hey, so the food was great, but the service was terrible! We had a reservation for our anniversary dinner and they sat us at a table inside. At first, we were the only customers there, so we got a lot of attention. But it wasn't really that great. The first thing that happened was that they brought us a dirty wine glass with lipstick marks all over it. The waiter didn't even notice and we had to point it out to him. The server provided us with the cutlery for the main course. While placing the knife on the table, he noticed that it was soiled. Instead of removing it, he merely turned it over. When we had completed our meal, the restaurant was nearly at full capacity. We were still enjoying our wine and inquired with the server if it would be possible to relocate to an outdoor table to finish our drinks. He went to investigate but returned with the news that it would not be feasible. They were rushing us to leave. The moment we stood up, the waiter jumped to the table and moved it to another one to make it ready for the next guests. Before leaving, we asked again about a table outside to have some drinks, and we were surprised to see three empty tables that we could choose from. From there, we were taken care of by another guy who was very attentive and polite. We had a great time and the food was delicious, but the service during dinner was not up to par (and it wasn't cheap either). 😒 #NotReturning

We went for my Mum's 70th birthday and had a wonderful meal on the beach. Loads of drinks, loads of food (particularly oysters which were delicious and which we had loads of!). They were super accommodating, all our requests were dealt with and we didn't have to wait long for anything even though there were 20 of us. Would definitely come again. Big shout out to the waiting staff who were exceptionally patient!

We had the pleasure of lunching at the copper clam today The server we had was absolutely brilliant (young brunette guy with curly hair). He was so so helpful, friendly & warm! It was a refreshing change from the mid customer service we’ve had in other high end restaurants recently! We ordered the small plates (scallops, short rib, prawns, lobster linguini & olives) which were all INCREDIBLE! Presented so beautifully & so delicious.

Beautiful location, food was wonderful - we had 4 small plates, scallops, skate, mussels and crab fries and all were fresh and delicious. Homemade ice-cream so good. Staff were friendly, helpful and unpretentious. Would definitely come back!

I'd have to rate this place a 9/10, hence why I can't give it 5 stars. The food was outstanding, could not pick fault with it. The crab platter and the starters of mackerel and lobster ravioli and bisque were incredible! Service was very prompt and not overbearing. I did feel that the wine prices and £11.50 for a miniscule cocktail, which did taste nice, were too much. That's the only thing that denies this place the 10/10 given we spent nearly £100 per head.

Excellent meal, really fresh fish, beautifully prepared and cooked. Thoroughly enjoyed the Cataplana seafood stew and the bone marrow oysters are delectable! Literally just got back from Paris and was as good as any meal I ate there.

Never seen so small lobster! My fishmonger has prawns bigger than that. It was very disappointing visit. The restaurant has lost it standards long time ago. Ordered cote d’Provance rose and it was dark pink orange colour which I’ve never experienced before. It should be blush, light and crisp. The taste was really bad. Then ordered another French rose, and it was the same colour. And tasted very similar, not light and crisp with citrus notes like it said on menu. The tap water was while too, they definitely need to get better filters for it. The shallot vinaigrette for oysters was old, the shallots was falling apart in a bottle with sediment, not sure why they can’t make fresh one for each day? And in final the 1/2 lobster Thermidor was small and for £40. Made me cry. After paying over £200 for disappointing meal, I won’t be coming back. They also sit you outside at the wobbly tables and dirty chairs.

The best seafood I’ve had in years, the scallops sauce was beautiful as was the seafood platter to share. The staff are so friendly as was the owner. We can’t recommend this place highly enough, will always make a point of visiting whenever we are in Brighton 😀

By good fortune, our group selected a number of appetizers to share and so were able to enjoy the varied flavours and tasteful presentation of a number of different dishes. Each one was excellent. Certainly a great place to come for well-prepared seafood.

It’s a disgusting dirty restaurant the lady Kay who owns it is so rude I would highly recommend do not go the food is over priced toot the waiters are rude and pig ignorant with dirty uniforms the steaks we had were disgusting and they didn’t even ask us if we had any allergies the seafood is poor stay away from the copper clam

Travelled from Northamptonshire for a concert. Came here for my birthday with my partner. Service was great, food was amazing. Would definitely come again!!

To say this place was a huge disappointment is putting it very lightly! I don’t know where to start first. The service bar one waitress & barman was ATROCIOUS. The waiter that brought us to the table clearly did not want to be there. We ordered the seafood platter for one which was £32 and it literally was a few things thrown onto a plate. We could have done the same thing at home. The oysters were very skinny and unfortunately we had to mention them to the waitress. What ensued was disgusting. The initial waitress was very polite and offered an alternative scallops for the oysters. We offered for her to take the oysters back but she didn’t. In the next few minutes we were approached by 2 waitresses, an older and younger blonde ladies. I would hazard a guess and say they were mother and daughter and owned the restaurant. The young woman was extremely rude and proceeded to rudely explain to us why the oysters were this way. She did offer the same exchange of scallops for the oysters and actually took the oysters away from the plate. Then the older woman also explained the same thing but in a calmer manner. This was completely unnecessary as the first waitress had already done the same thing. We were pretty shocked with this treatment. It was my mothers birthday and the day before we went in person to confirm the booking and they had said that they had tagged it was my mothers birthday and asked for her name. Being in the hospitality business myself I would assume they were going to do some gesture to celebrate this. As the meal ended there was no mention of the birthday, even to ask if we wanted to get a dessert to mark the occasion - charged of course. When we got the bill they had added 12.5% service charge. What a joke!! I have been to Riddles before and the experience was so much better. It’s literally next door and they also have one in the town. If you’re after a good seafood meal and service go to Riddles and steer way clear of this place!!!

Ordered half lobster and was not worth it at all. Overpriced for they have to offer. Same goes for the halibut fish. Entrée portions for the price of main course.

Lovely fresh seafood spot. You will be greatly surprised. Staff extremely professional. Food was exactly as described. The flavours were magical. I am still currently in a food coma. Give this spot a chance. And give yourself the time to absorb the atmosphere, don’t rush. Great selection of wines.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at the Copper Clam restaurant, and I must say that I was thoroughly impressed with the entire experience. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with warm and friendly smiles from the staff, and I knew right away that I was in for a treat. First and foremost, the food at Copper Clam was simply outstanding. As their name suggests, they specialize in seafood, and I could tell right away that they only use the freshest ingredients in all of their dishes. I started with the mussels, and it was rich, velvety, and packed with flavor. The shellfish platter that followed were arguably the best I've ever had. I must say that the Copper Clam truly excelled in this department. As someone who has had their fair share of seafood over the years, I can confidently say that the oysters, clams, and mussels were among the freshest and most delicious that I've ever had. I could tell right away that they were carefully sourced and handled, and it made all the difference in the world. Of course, great food is only part of the equation when it comes to dining out, and I'm happy to report that the service at Copper Clam was equally impressive. Our server was attentive, knowledgeable, and always had a smile on her face. She made excellent recommendations and was happy to answer any questions that we had. The rest of the staff was also friendly and accommodating, and I could tell that they all took great pride in their work. In summary, if you're looking for outstanding food, fresh and delicious shellfish, and impeccable service, look no further than the Copper Clam restaurant. I have no doubt that it will quickly become a favorite of anyone who gives it a try, and I can't wait to go back myself. So, if you want to have a memorable seafood dining experience, the Copper Clam restaurant should definitely be on the top of your list.

Staff were friendly and accommodating, food was good but the lobster was a little chewy. Pretty pricey but I think the prices are standard for seafood on the seafront.

We’d heard great things and were really looking forward to our visit so booked a table for 4 as part of a 65 birthday celebration. Unfortunately the team were having a bad day. Our table wasn’t ready (which happens), there were multiple items off the menu (which happens), our table took a while to be cleaned (which happens), our drinks took 25 mins to be brought over (which happens). However when the owner/ manger came over to take our orders she did not apologise. She disregarded the fact booking was for a 65 birthday and proceeded to share how bad her day and previous days had been. This was unacceptable. Horrendous attitude so we left. Incredibly disappointed. You can forgive all the other failings of our visit but not the attitude. We would have stayed but could not accept the remarkably bad customer service so we left. I hate to give bad reviews and typically can’t stand reviews when no food has been eaten however in this case have to make an exception. What a shambles and disappointment. Luckily the person whose birthday it was is lovely and understanding. However the whole experience was incredibly embarrassing.

Claim by The Copper Clam; “Much of our produce arrives fresh off the boat each day, including our incredible lobsters the largest and freshest in town - a Copper clam speciality!” Well, my half grilled lobster was the smallest , rubbery and presented in the most uninspired way with a few leaves of spinach on a large plate. My partner’s steak was small and very gristly. All in all it was a bad experience never to be repeated. The only saving grace was the lovely waitress who served us with the sweetest smile and politeness. If you want good seafood served imaginatively go to the crabshack in Worthing

The lobster included in the platter was huge and tasty, which with the outstanding shrimp and other seafood makes the Lobster Platter a must-eat. The service was good and it seems all the past negative reviews are dated and inaccurate now. The food was pricy but very much worth it.

Stumbled upon this place after wandering along the busy seafront. Food was excellent, we had the prawns, squid and crab fries, with 2 glasses of champagne, was absolutely wonderful, enjoyed it so much we ordered more prawns. Great find.

Wonderful food, great service, the owner is very welcoming and approachable, super sweet lady. The waiters are well humoured, the speed of service is good and the fish is very fresh. Oysters are from Jersey. Quite expensive though.

On holiday in Brighton had a lovely lunch crab platter for 2 amazing would definitely recommend The waiters and waitresses were so polite my only fault is they charge you a service charge would rather make that decision myself

great food, had big seafood platter and ribeye and both were delicious. location is very good but unfortunately service is poor. saw waitier only when ordering food and paying. have to add that they automatically adding 12.5% service charge ( can be removed)

We had a great lunch , loved the staff who really looked after us , we then sat upstairs for a cocktail , got chatting to the ladies next to us & then got told off from the owner for doing this , simply because I was stood up by their table , totally uncalled for , have to say we will never return to this restaurant , because of the owners unreasonable behaviour.

The quality of the food was impeccable Staff not quite polite. I booked in advance and I specifically asked for a table inside. I also mentioned that it was my birthday but nobody cared. Phil, tall guy with curly hair and glasses, welcomed us and told me in a very rude way that there were no more table inside so we had to sit outside. When I politely pointed out that I asked specifically for a table inside he started to be passive aggressive telling me that we were late and he had to “no show” us even if I was within 15min of tolerance. (open table and restaurant rules) but it was 8.43 and we had a reservation for 8.30 so we were on time. I’m a returning customer and every time I come to Brighton I come to eat here because the food is great. If it wasn’t for this, I would have left straight away. Please don’t let Phil welcome or interact with customers because is not a very good first impression for a restaurant. We were then served by Eric, from Costa Rica and he was very attentive and professional, a great credit for the business. I put in the notes of the reservation that my girlfriend is gluten and lactose intolerant and we had to ask for a separate menu (Please read the notes and be prepared to welcome customer without treating them all in the same way, specially if you know before their dietary requirements) We got the sharing platter and the food as I mentioned, was delicious and the seafood was incredible.

A bit different from my experience last summer, but food was still great! The banana squid was interesting, you should give it a try.

Would never come back. Had pre-booked for 2 adults and a pushchair, but when arrived told we had to sit outside due to pushchairs not being allowed in. After attempting to sit in the gales I insisted on moving indoors as my little baby couldn’t manage. The staff unfortunately didn’t hide their frustrations, huffing and puffing amongst themselves eventually saying ‘fine’ but telling us repeatedly how we would be in the way of various cupboards or other tables (this was a Monday lunchtime and only 1 other table in the restaurant). The atmosphere was way off from this point and despite paying £130 for an expensive restaurant we felt totally unwelcome on my partners 30th birthday. It can be really anxiety provoking taking a baby out as a first time new mum and it was made so much harder. If pushchairs/babies cannot be accommodated then someone should have contacted me after my booking. They have said babies are welcome just not pushchairs, but for babies who are asleep or can’t sit up they come as a pair! What would be done for wheelchair users or other accessibility needs? There were also some little mistakes with 2 of our courses but on the whole the food was nice. I emailed the restaurant to discuss this as I know they’re a family run place but the response I got was dismissive and rude. Upset and disappointed.

It can be anxiety provoking taking a baby out as a first time mum and unfortunately this was made 10x worse by the staff not wanting us to sit inside, despite me having clearly booked for a baby and stroller. Nice location/view and food was OK, but not family friendly and the experience did not match the expense.

Tried to get a table here on Sunday just after 4pm - it was virtually empty , only one couple seated one the terrace, however we were told all the tables except one were fully booked. "You can have that table" we were rudely told, pointing to one that was in full sun. Two of the three of us were over 70 which I pointed out. Someone actually moved tables while we were standing there due to the heat. Family run? No customer service skills whatsoever . Will never attempt to visit again and we all eat out a lot. As a member of the local business community I was not impressed.

We were delighted with our starter and main courses. Both the lady who was taking our order and the wine waiter were good. Unfortunately it all went downhill at dessert. Only one of our three orders came. When I asked one of the staff he explained that the drink was delayed as they could not find the vermouth. After a while I was advised my dessert was not available. We were now running out of time (having already got through bill and explained that we were going to a concert) so an alternative was ordered. Eventually the original order turned up somewhat cobbled together (the pastry in the tart was missing so the mousse filling was served with the ice cream) but it was reasonably edible.

Had a lovely seaside meal here, the monk fish tasted divine, as did the lobster roll starter. My only note would be the portion sizes. Service was great, didn’t catch our waitresses name but she was very friendly and answered all of our questions. Will deffo come back when next in Brighton.

Prices reflect location, not food quality

I booked The Copper Clam for a team lunch (16 people) and even though we were quite late in requesting a table, they managed to accommodate us and I’m so pleased they could. We had a fantastic experience - the food was great and the team there were so quick to help our every need. I spoke with Lili over email, who sent over multiple menu options, including the set menu which we ultimately decided to order from. We were seated promptly upon arrival and the wines that we had pre-ordered followed swiftly. Ultimately, we had an extremely enjoyable experience and I would highly recommend The Copper Clam to others who have not been before! Tables do not sit more than 2 persons comfortably, services was very slow, food ok, though don't order the crab fries, such a rip off, just fries covered in mayonnaise, no crab

Rubbish. Terrible food. Poor service. Overpriced and the worst pudding I’ve ever had. Steer clear. Dreadful. Can I give it 0 stars?

Fantastic seafood - great service!!

We turned up on a sunny Saturday all excited and stood outside having booked the day before...........after 10 minutues of being ignored we were begrudgingly taken to our table! The staff are not interested in customers......I will give you one snippit of what lead to us basically just getting starters and walking........ Me: Hi what are the specials I seem to have seen some on the board outside..... Waiter: Yeah, errrrr, i think we have mussels and fish of the day....... Me: Oh I saw raw squid carpaccio? Waiter: Errrr.......yeah.......I think we ran out of that........not sure Me: Oh, could you go and check W: After 5 minutes.......yeah we have the squid........i don't know what comes with it as it is written on the chalk board outside........ Me: Errrr...........WTF????? it jus conitnued like that. Me: Can the chef do the carrtos without butter................."errrr i dont know i will have to check" Terrible, the food that arrived was ok, but i went to the toilet and the staff were a;l behind the door moaning and swearing "I dont give sXXXX about so a so etc etc................sooooo unprofessional we left.

Amazing seafood and great friendly service. Location was perfect by the beach. My girlfriend and I have an awesome evening. Thank you

Nice location, staff are nice but the food fails to deliver. It's ok but just that.
