Woodingdean Fish Bar in Brighton and Hove

Shop couldn’t be bothered to be open and no sign on the door to say that they weren’t open today even though they’re online trading hours says they’re open

I got fish and chips two days ago, and the food was delicious 😇🙏 It can be one of the besties in Brighton 😎 Highly recommend! 😇

Fish & Chips is so fresh and tasty. Batter was just enough. Love both the Haddock and Cod.. Cod Roe was good.. yummy. Excellent and Friendly service.. Will definitely come again when I am in Brighton.

Really good fish and chips. There's too many places serving poor quality fish and chips these days, this isn't one of them, I'm not the biggest fan of fish, but their fish is amazing. Try this place it's the best I've had.

Haddock was lovely but chips were no where near hot and only walked to Ravensbourne Court!!

The food here is absolutely lovely - unfortunately this is not a wheelchair accessible place to eat. HUGE step to entrance. Ramps are quite cheap on eBay. You need a 4ft sized one - this is a Super easy fix to make sure that everybody can come and eat in your establishment :) Please comment on here if you want any more advice. Definitely coming back here this place is great!

Food is good, usually fresh, crispy chips. Only thing that let's them down is their curry sauce. It's a lumpy one, everyone prefers a smooth one, that and they don't do gravy. Sort this out and it's 5 stars

We have used Woodingdean Fish bar for many years. We keep going back because the food is fresh, hot and of excellent quality. The service is friendly and efficient. Occasionally there is a short wait, but this is only because the fish is being cooked freshly for you. We vote with our feet!!! And return there often and recommend that you do too.

Not impressed silly, small sausage in batters or so called German sausage, just a hot dog sausage, chips where, not nice at all I wish I kept my money would never eat from here again.

Lovely fish & chips. Nice friendly service. Good prices. Most important for me is that they will cook your fish with no skin on if you ask as I hate the skin. Would highly recommend. Still the best fish & chips around!

It’s very very average, but it needs to get rid of its microwave I do not see a use for it. You should never deep fry chips and then microwave them, that’s soggy chips, get rid of microwave and then it’s 4 stars! Maybe five as service and cost is good!

This is usually a great chippy but the last time me and my partner got cod each they had bones in it and was more oily than usual. It this happens again, I definitely won't be going back there. Shame as its really good valve for Brighton.

This was a lovely chip shop however the last 4 times I've had bones in my cod hense why not a 5*. Previous to this I didn't have bones. It puts me off eating the fish. Sorry!

We have tried this Fish Bar 3 times now and I have to say we are very disappointed, having read the reviews, we had great hope but on each visit the chips were soggy, the fish was over cooked and overly oily, the pies are not crispy. We found the fish bar in Rottingdean much better.

Been my favourite chippy for a long time. I moved away from Woodingdean a while ago and I still come back here regularly

It's hard to write this article because I have eaten here for years, but in the past year, it's become difficult to ignore the decline in quality with the food. The batter on the Cod used to be really nice and crispy, but nowadays is really oily and sodden, almost like the dryer is broken or something? Chips used to be amazing are now really average. Unfortunately I now take my custom elsewhere.

On holiday in Brighton staying at the caravan park at East Brighton Park. Was looking for a fish and chip shop and decided on this place. The quality of the food was excellent. Lovely sized portion and very fresh fish. Would be more than happy to recommend this place and will definitely use them again.

First ever visit. Two guys serving. Friendly, let me know that my fish would be a few minutes (a good thing). On appearance, it looked a bit oily, but both the fish and chips tasted very good. Recommended.

We visit Brighton very often due to our son’s studies in Brighton. We have tried many places around the UK, and yet it has been the best place we’ve tried. The fish is delicious, the batter is crispy and not oily and the staff is really welcoming and kind, especially the lady (I don’t know her name). Highly suggested.

I'm a non meat eater and sadly I could taste chicken on my chips I suspect that chicken is cooked in the chip fat. I'm not sure of the regulation on that but will need to look into it. Shame as otherwise good.

Woodingdean Fish Bar sells the best fish & chips for miles around. And Lucky Me I live in Woodingdean. I have lived in a few areas in the city & this is the best. The fish is always freshly cooked (worth the wait) & the chip portions are very generous. Very clean & tidy premises, and good value too.

Not sure where these reviews came from or if they had a bad day, chips were over cooked and soggy as if they were left over from last night same with the fish looked like it had been sitting a while, curry sauce was cold and small!! overpriced for size of portions, thanks but no thanks I will not be returning. as mine went in the bin!

I was working just across the street and could not believe there was a chip shop here as there is not a great deal of shops here. When I finished work I went straight there and had Steak and mushroom pie and chips...yum, yum! Another night I settled for just chips and curry sauce...superb! Staf are very friendly and chatty, I would recommend this plaice to anyone.

We always use woodingdean fish n chips as they are the BEST!! We had haddock n chips this eve and it was so fresh, absolutely yummy. It's the ONLY take away we have as we like fresh food. Thanks so much. Delicious!!!
