The chips are bangin, proper size pot of curry sauce 👌🏽 and a very nice pie for just over a Tenna, bargin! Highly recommend 👌🏽👍🏽

Ordered this via Uber Eats. Gf food was not labelled as such making it dangerous for my coeliac partner to eat. We called and no effort was made to solve the issue. Delivery was over half an hour late. Food delivered cold. Very disappointed

great find of a fish and chip shop that does gluten free every day. Very friendly and helpful staff, great food and thoroughly enjoyed our first visit to Wolfies of Hove.

I ordered a large cod, large chips & mushy peas for £20. The fish was very small and the portion of chips was pathetic too. Complete rip off and not even tasty. This place has really gone down hill. Won't be going back.

This place is just too expensive!! Nearly £12 for a piece of fish (no chips included in that) that is half the size I get in Bankers. Sorry guys won't be back - unnecessarily pricey as there was no added value compared to other chippes we use.

Ordered through deliveroo and food was incomplete. When I complained Wolfies were very rude. Never using wolvies again.

Stumbled upon this place when I was starving hungry at like 2:30 in the afternoon. I was very happy to get super hot fresh food super quickly. I had a battered sausage and chips, the sausage was super nice quality and the chips were decent too. The prices were also very reasonable if you ask me. Hopefully I’ll find myself in the area and in need of food again because I wanna try the halloumi next!

Gluten free all day everyday! Amazing 👏 Friendly staff cooked our food to order. Delicious fish and crisp batter. Clean establishment and comfy seating area. I loved how so many random people came in and no one bats an eyelid. That is the essence of being cool 😎 Thank you, I will be travelling specially back here despite living in Horsham as damn it is worth it.

We just had the worst cod and chips ever! It was the dregs of the day. Normally Wolfies is very good. This meal tonight was delivered cold with old bits of chips and mashed up cold cod- sorry guys but this was disgusting

Average takeaway. Stopped by when I was on my way back to home due to a recommendation for finding a great fish and particularly chips. 3 stars for selection of the potatoes and the way of cooking them. Fish can be 4 stars but overall an average experience.

Had the smallest portion of fish and chips I have ever had in the uk. The only time I’ve had slightly similar small portions was with Wolfies but assumed that’s because I ordered red snapper. Clearly they serve everything on the small side. Chips are good. Batter is good. Curry sauce is good. But the size is noticeably very different from local fish and chip shops. Sadly will not order again. Paid for x2 people and served for one person.

We had to throw away half the chips because they were blackened with bruising/rot. What's upsetting is that the potatoes would obviously not been fit for purpose yet they chose to use them, the cut chips were obviously not fit for frying yet they chose to use them. They shouldn't have served them like that, you could see they weren't right as soon as they were opened. What's worse is that we knew Wolfies is not great, but thought we'd try our luck again but it's clear that they're consistently bad

Ok takeaway. Cod is pretty good. Seems to be two fillets stacked on top of each other inside the batter. No skin is also a bonus. The chips were pretty anaemic, needed another few minutes in the fryer to get some good crisp to the edges, also a few too many green potatoes mixed in the chips. The Curry sauce had good flavour.

5 star Gluten Free Fish & Chips!

Ordered large cod and chips with curry sauce. £22. Got wrong order delivered. Called and was told to deal with Uber. So much for supporting local business. Tried to explain not worth losing a customer over the (expensive in their case) price of fish and chips...just told to take it up with Uber. What a joke.

Fantastic cod, lamb and rosemary pie and chips. Service was friendly and food was so fresh and delicious.

Extremely disappointed. We had not ordered from Wolfies for quite some time as is was terrible then! So sad as this used to be my favourite go to take away. The fish was very over-cooked as were the chips, I had to leave most of it as did my family.

Fish was average, but the chips terrible. Soggy and full of bad bits of potato.

See below, you will see I have previously given this place 5*. But this time I can only say that I have never had such awful fish and chips from anywhere in the WORLD! It was ordered to be delivered. Great we thought when we saw our order was being processed so quickly. The delivery service was fine. I could track their progress from shop to my door, so I expected the food to be hot. That was my first mistake! The chips AND the fish were both cold. The chips were the colder; obviously they were old cold and stale!!! The cod was the worst piece of cod I have ever had from Wolfies. It wasn't a thick chunky piece of fish, but rather, a thinner, wider piece of fish, folded over before being battered and cooked. Look at the widespread photo you can just see what I mean. The other photo shows the tail end of the 'batter' - no fish, just batter! In fact a lot of this meal was just batter ...... and old, cold stale chips! I'll NEVER be going back there again, and neither will I be recommending it to others! I’ve taken away battered fish from here many times. Unlike many other chip shops, the fish has always been well battered but the fish inside has been a generous size, meaty and full of flavour. Always my first choice for fish and chips!

Seriously Awful. Cannot get the order right. Gave them the benefit of the doubt last time as got the order wrong the previous time I ordered with them. Ordered again tonight. Only three items. Managed to serve me with chips and peas. How can get three items wrong ? Staff simply don’t care nor do the management.

Cod is not cooked properly and tastes bland, curry sauce is dead. Save your money and go elsewhere. And for the owner - you're mugging people off for 3/10 quality food, wouldn't be surprised if the fish was frozen..

Disgustingly over priced, greasy and tasteless - avoid at all costs

I'vew always been very happy with the quality of the food from Wolfies. Recent order though Deliveroo driver wasn't sure of my code so wouldn't hand over my food. So left without food. I know this isn't Wolfies fault but I'm left without food and you are using Deliveroo to delver. You need to take responsibility for using this incompetent company who cannot deliver the food.

I went to Wolfies as I had just got off the train and thought I'd give them another chance despite a couple of not-so-good experiences in the past. I live close to the station but my usual chippie is a little further unless I'm at home. Ordered large cod, large chips and a portion of scampi. Compared to my usual chippie - the 'large' cod was noticeably smaller than their medium cod, the 'large' portion of chips was less than half the size, the portion of scampi was barely adequate. The batter on both the chips and scampi was dark and overdone. There are three other chippies within 5/10 minutes walk from Wolfies who serve much better food and far more generous portions. If Wolfies was in the same street as either of those other chippies nobody would go there. They benefit hugely from their closeness to the station.

Ordered 2 fish and chip portions and returned home dismayed to find only 1 included. Frankly an unacceptable error. When they do get the order right the food is typically ok. Guy behind the counter was a bit of a knob and clearly more interested with flirting with his colleague than getting the order correct.

I had pie and mash, I was expecting it not to be quite the same as the east end of London, However, the mashed potato was instant mash and tasted like water, Liquor also tasted like water, Pie seem to taste like yesterday’s pie, And when I mentioned this to the man that worked on the till he said to me, have a good day. Even with vinegar, the whole thing tasted like water. Very disappointing. At £7.95 😞 and on top of it all I waited 30min and they wanted to serve pie and mash in Separate cartons, I don’t think they have grasped the concept Traditional pie, I told him the food needs to be on a plate, He went to the restaurant next door and got a plate and no spoon 🥄 pie and mash is traditionally eaten with a fork and a spoon

Food was okbut cold, don't order from website for delivery . Waited an hour for the food, didn't arrive they confirmed order via email and text. When I phoned they said they do not deliver from website only deliveroo, paid £45. They then said order again through Deliveroo and they will send refund with delivery. They sent refund but food was cold, obviously did not send fresh and sent the original order that was sitting around for an hour.

My food was supposed to arrive 30 mins ago- the Uber app has now said another update if45 mins- just keeps adding time on. I won’t be ordering from Wolfiies again until they stop using Uber eats. Have now received order Stone cold- wrapped in paper that was wet as was the food- The delivery guy apologised that it was so late- but perhaps wolfies, you could refund me and if it’s not you fault for over ordering claim back from then. Look forward to hearing from you. Also keen to understand how my fish and chips cost getting on fo £20 which is s much more than I’ve paid before.?

Don't order online.... the prices are inflated and I spent £25 more than I would have spent in the shop despite collecting. They have actively tried to rip people off and its left a nasty taste in my mouth. One loyal customer gone.

So, for a family order online it was £25.0 more than it was on the boards and I still had to wait for 10 min more than the order time. I feel ripped off and this is from someone who comes here often.

Hello. I was happy to collect food from restaurant for our takeaway. I decided to order on their website and paid. When I collected I saw the prices in shop. A piece of fish was £7.50 when I had paid £11.50 on their website. What a rip-off! Also on website I had to pay a service fee. I therefore paid £12 a piece of fish. I was told in the restaurant to place order via telephone to avoid. Hopefully it is over 50% difference!!

A nice spot right outside the station with some picnic tables outside. Never bad, but never particularly tasty. Had the haddock most recently, a bit tasteless. The chips also a bit anemic in colour, but nice enough. IIRC about £12 for each portion of fish and chips if you get a small cod.

Twice in two weeks been there for lunch and nobody able to take your money. First Friday at 1230. Today 1st September at 1330. Both time person who's frying saying nobody's turned up to work the till. Poor service

Great plate of chips, worth a visit.

25/8/23- The owner was very rude.. he asked me why I did not collect the food that I had paid for the previous day. I told him that I was helping somebody who had been involved in a road accident. He was irritated, completely ignored my explanation and told me the restaurant could have resold the food. Please note when I had tried to collect my food on 24/8/23 before 10:00, I was told the food had been thrown away. I was asked to return the following day with my receipt to collect a fresh order. 25/8/23 - I arrived at 17:00 on 25/8. The owner prepared the food and when it was ready for collection he handed me a paper wrapped cod & chips.(£11.95) I asked him if he could put it in a bag. He scowled and put the food in a plastic bag. I asked him if he could put the food in a Wolfies bag.. he scowled again and eventually repackaged the food. I was basically given off cuts of soggy, oil drenched chips with a piece of fish that tasted awful. It was terrible! Grey, cold, slimy fish that smelt very odd. Needless to say most of the food went in the bin. I contacted the restaurant who clearly could not care less. They completely dismissed my complaint. I have been to Wolfies 5 times since May 23. 3/5 times the food has been sub standard. Today’s experience was shockingly bad. Sadly there is no 0/5 option. Don’t waste your money. There are lots of far better Fish & Chips shops.

A gem we found a couple years back. Had a temporary blimp a few months ago but back to full top notch quality and fairly priced Fish and Chips. Our only go-to and close enough to take to the beach to munch whilst watching the world go by. :)

I have been coming to Wolfies for 6 years now and I have never been disappointed. Nothing got me through lockdown quite like the Wolfies kids chicken and chips. Nothing made me happier than celebrating my GCSE results with Wolfies fishcake and chips. Nothing brings me and my friends together quite like Wolfies large cod chips and mushy peas. Not sure how I'm going to get through university without regular trips to my local chippy. This business is amazing. Everyday they give out their left over food to the homeless which helps tackle food waste and provides them with a delicious meal. Best chippy in town!! Can't recommend it enough :))

Outstanding customer service - it was quite busy and both the lady and man working behind the counter were polite and fast paced, swift service despite being busy! Food was amazing! Walked out with a huge smile and would recommend Wolfies to anyone! 10/10

We’d heard great things about Wolfies so as I’ve now moved just around the corner we gave it a try and it didn’t disappoint! Everything was delicious, I had a small cod but it was huge! The staff were lovely even though it was quite busy, they still took time to chat. Definitely recommend.

Absolutely appalling customer service food was cold burnt and completely wrong order I orderd pie and mash and liquor I received one London pie and no mash and a quarter of a tub of one also ordered curry sauce never received it I ring up the lady lied to her boss when I ask to speak to him she said the liquor spilled wich I confirmed it didn’t as it was not open or leaked she just didn’t make no effort and gave me a tiny bit but my kids can’t eat fried foods hence why I ordered mash and was sent three portions of chips wich we’re over cooked and the sausage and batter aswell as well as the chicken bites the manager said they would refund me as I explained I am very sick and can’t go out to get more food for my kids who have intolerance he said I’d get a refund then put the girl back on the phone I explained she shouldn’t lie because I told her it hadn’t leaked and she just didn’t put even half a tub in wich is £15 for the meal of pie and mash and before I could ask when Will receive my refund she hung the phone up on me I’m totally upset with this as I used them before and won’t ever be using again I will go to trading standards as the food was awful and service very disappointing to say the least especially knowing I can’t go out to buy anything else and it’s had to be thrown in the bin would highly recommend avoiding this place !£40 down the drain literally

Wolfies is amazing however I have to mention that we ordered to pick up online on their website, and when we got into the shop everything was around 2 pounds cheaper than it was online, so we ended up paying at least 10 pounds extra for our food. It should be disclosed on the website that this is the case. I could understand maybe if the food was delivered. Just a bit of a let down, so make sure you call up to make your orders.

Visiting daughter for New Year’s Eve .. we ventured out in the rain to grab a bite to eat . We found Wolfies Kitchen by chance. What a gem of a place . Happy welcoming staff, lovely coffee, great food. It soon became busy - not sure what it will be like in the summer. We will definitely be going back .

We walked to Wolfies from Brighton - lovely walk along the beach front and then a short walk into Hove to get there (near the station). My husband is coeliac and had read good things about the food here - he ordered gluten free haddock and chips. I’m not gluten free so went for a small cod and chips. There was a 10 minute wait as they prepared and cooked the gluten free food. Absolutely delicious all round and worth the wait. Classic fish and chips.

One of the best chip shops I have been to even though they fry in veg oil. The curry sauce is not the usual watery curry, it's spicy chinese style and so nice. Hake was delicious and the large portion of chips (although small) were nice. I don't know what potatoes they use but very special.

Used to be best in Hove, had medium cod and chips , fish batter crumbly and oily very thin , chips no taste , will be using bankers in future.

Had a takeaway from here on a busy Friday night. Food is absolutely delicious, I had the chicken bites which are insanely good, best I've ever had actually and the chips too. Delivered on time and safely packaged. Will definitely go here again

Totally classic fish n chips! Delicious fresh plaice and cod. A menu with all the South Coast specials like roe and mushy pea fritters. We were all delighted with the service and the food! Picnic tables outside for decent weather days.

Used to be great but really has gone downhill, not sure if it's the quantity they're pushing out with delivery etc. Ate it fresh literally outside the shop and the extra large cod a) appeared standard size for most chippies b) greasy c) batter barely crispy and soggy. Chips were extremely mediocre and the large chips portion is stingy. Its a shame because used to be one of the best chippies arguably in the UK but has had a huge decline. Will be going elsewhere having been a loyal customer for a long time. Shame.

They sell home made pies along with everything else you expect from a fish and chip shop.

We've had fish and chips before and they were not too bad-but neither excellent. Today we opted for 2 pies and chips, when we got home most of the chips were half grey, the ends of chips, and were cold. The pies weren't too bad but it was the chips that ruined it. The kids working there clearly don't want to be there (you can see in their attitudes). Personally if there was a choice between their fish and chips, and the ones from the frozen ailse in the supermarket, I'd sooner get the ones from the frozen ailse-defo cheaper.

Really gone downhill in recent months. Got two portions of chips today and a whole bunch were made with rotten potato. Those that weren't rotten were undercooked.

The fish was really great and the people in the service and kitchen were very friendly and forthcoming. Definitely worth a visit!

2.5 stars really. Hugely inconsistent. Sometimes good, but often not. I worked in a chippy for a year, so I really don't understand how they almost never get their chips right. Cook. Till. Floating. Its a pity because they do gluten free, but this place is massively overrated. Little Jack fullers in St James Street is the way to go.

Ordered a simple portion of chips and pickled onion. Not much to say other than not a single crispy chip! The golden rule of chip shop chips is crisp edges and a good few smaller super crispy browner chips too! These were all pale yellow, broken or falling apart - almost too soft or overcooked but not crispy either! Smaller portion size compared to other chippys (fine-ish though for £3) and disappointing chips. 80p is steep for a pickled onion though! Noticed a great drink selection and pleased they avoid animal derived oil.

Excellent experience, wonderful food and great service! My coeliac daughter was blown away by the chance to have gluten free battered sausage and chips and they were fantastic. Highly recommended and look forward to visiting again

I was very disappointed when i unwrapped my cod & chips to find a small piece of cod which fell apart & soggy chips! The cod was edible but the chips were just not fresh! I will not be returning

What happened to Wolfies. Used to be great but now is terrible. Today was really hard over cooked chips, it was 3.30pm so hardly busy but clearly not fresh and had been sat for a long time. Sausages in batter used to be the best around now they are greasy and just not nice. Did they change ownership??

New review: I have debated whether to post an updated review but unfortunately the last 3 or 4 times I have visited wolfies it has rapidly gone downhill. The prices for the portion sizes have become absolutely ridiculous, the fish is greasier every time, the wait times are long. The staff can’t handle a busy night and clearly aren’t cared about enough to care about the business. Service is friendly and kind but sloppy and slow. Friday night my friend and I waited over half an hour for 2 large cod and chips (1 gluten free) and no one seemed particularly bothered about sorting the problem quickly. The person I presume is the manager eventually found out and told the young staff to give us free drinks but didn’t address us directly or communicate how long it would take to fix the problem. I was embarrassed to bring my friend from out of town. I hate to write this, I’ve loved wolfies for years, but I won’t be returning after this. I hope it gets better. Original 5* review, summer 2022: Favourite Chippy. Couldn't possibly go anywhere else as it's just that good. Prices as with everything have gone up quite a bit over the years which does make for an expensive takeaway but if you can afford to, it's worth it. Staff are always fun and friendly.

Has this place been taken over? Used to be brilliant, but now it's just another bang-average, expensive chippy that is deluded over the quality of their food. Summed up by 30p for a sachet of tartare sauce (sachets of tartare sauce in a chippy?!) and...

We went in yesterday to buy 2 regular portions of chips. In these times of value for money it needs to be shared that they were miniscule portions of flaccid chips for £3.00 each and were actually cold. Disappointed and won't go there again.

Excellent fish & chips. Aways perfectly cooked fish where so many other places over cook it. Friendly and efficient. In my top two fish and chip take aways in the whole of Brighton & Hove. You won't be disappointed.

Wolfies has always had some issues. Chips are often cold (they bag them up and leave them on the side while other things cook), and I've often got home to find items missing, for instance. Nevertheless I have persisted as they serve Hake, which other local chip shops don't do. However, today was the last straw. Opened my fish to find a yellowy ooze in the paper and the fish pinky/grey, and tasted like rubber. Had to bin it and make do with a plate of cold chips. Won't be going back.

Ordered numerous times and had either chips/ sausages or sides missing. last order 2 days ago, through Deliveroo app, i wrote a note asking for them to double check my order when packing as i had items missing last time i ordered. And guess what?...

Rubbish place. Cold food and missing items. Avoid!

Absolute joke of a chip shop, 3rd time now items missing! I even wrote a note stating this and for my order to be double checked as I was missing items last time ordered. Clearly not read . And clearly don't care because once again items missing and I cannot get my money back as the restaurant is closed and deliveroo are unable to do anything about it. AVOID place is a joke. I ordered pie, mash and liquor. Plus sausage and chips. It arrived cold. The pie is dry, pathetic and barely has any filling. No mash but another portion of under cooked chips. See the photos. Awful. Avoid.

2 portions of chips, one fish, one sausage. 1 portion of chips, the fish and the sausage ready after 25 minutes. Other customers served (with chips!) so then another 10 minutes for second portion of chips. So half food too cold and last chips too hot. The worst bit was the really sarcastic 'thank you for waiting' That was just rude. Don't go for a quick supper. Not good enough for the money.
