Fish was a good quality batter was nice and light. Chips were freshly cooked and tasty. Curry sauce wasn't great and they dont do a kids menu which was a little frustrating and adds to the cost considerably. But i would still recommend chippy chips for the quality of the food

If anyone reads my other reviews they know I love my fish and chips. We were cycling the seafront cycle route from Goring to Brighton and had reached the pier. We looked for fish and chips and most places were what I call the tourist fish and chip shops. A quick Google search and I found this place. A real down to earth fish and chip shop. No frills and superb quality product. All cooked to order. We had the medium haddock and chips. Good portion sizes. Chips super and non greasy. Haddock really good flavour and lovely crispy batter. Well worth a visit if you want to have enjoy your food.. Only about 200 metres back from the seafront so easy to enjoy your food hot whilst sitting on the front,.

Says open until 9pm i come at 840pm and is closed. Ruined my night.

I have visited here over the last two years and it has been very good. However, tonight I ordered large haddock and it was much smaller than usual. It was also very oily and the batter was not crispy at all. I will not be going back as I've had large haddock at two other nearby shops and it's much bigger, much better cooked and cheaper.

I use this place regularly for fish and chips, and it's usually spot on. My partner and I decided to have battered sausages and chips for a change. The chips were good but the sausages tasted and smelled like they had gone off 🤢 They went in the bin! Disappointed 😔

No frills neighborhood Chippy but the freshly cooked fish and chips were as good as any I've had in Brighton and Hove and better than many. If you want good food to take to the beach (though you can eat in if you wish) this is a great option.

Absolutely disgusting service how your 52 yearold worker speaks to a young girl over a battered sausage. Intimidating me saying he heard me say just a sausage. Needs to learn some manners was awful avoid at all costs. Very angry man

Definitely a Great Fish and chips!! Cod, medium size ( my choice), Met the Father/ owner and daughter- nice family and yummy fish and chips. Had a little conversation with owner/ Dad and Daughter, what nice people. Highly recommend ( as my host who lives close by to Chippy Chips highly recommended this joint as Best in Hove/ Brighton- she should know after living here 25 years+)!!! Good jumbo battered sausages and chips

Great fish and chips which we bought to eat on the beach. Very patient server (sorry didn't get his name) while the grandchildren made up their minds what to have. Decent portions too.

As a hgv driver travelling all over the country Thursday is treat day. Parked on Shoreham docks for the night it's quicker to walk to Chippy chips in Hove than to a fish and chip shop in Shoreham. And well worth the walk it was. Fish is cooked to order (large cod and chips) so a 10 minute wait to have my tea on the seafront all worthwhile. One of the best fish and chips I've had in my life. Great guys who run the place, yes you'll turn up and think oh could do with a lick of paint on the outside but don't let that put you off. Go in, order and go sit on/by the beach (weather permitting) and enjoy. 100% will be back.

It's not the nearest chip shop to my house but it came highly recommended by the girls at "Off yer head" hairdressers just along the terrace so decided to give it a whirl. Been twice now and love it. Pleasant staff, food cooked to order, lovely and clean and the best chips I have ever had from a chip shop. I'll be back for sure!

Bank holiday Monday with family. Whilst waiting to be served a lady going in said that they did very nice fish and chips and she was right. The fish and chips were cooked to order so had to wait 10 minutes but it was worth it. Not soggy like previous reviews. And they were very pleasant. We will return when we’re in the area.

So disappointed with Chippy Chips, they’ve stopped serving Cod Roe. They say because they wasted some of the tin each time they opened it. They’ve lost my haddock and chips orders, my sons sausage and chips, my daughters cod and chips too. A family order is a family order. We now get our deliveries from Woolfies in Hove.

Absolutely wonderful chips & a falafel wrap, which is also reasonably priced. A proper fish and chip shop. My 20 month old granddaughter loved it; as did I. Whilst I was there, another customer came in and stated that this place does the best fish and chios in all if Brighton & Hove. They've also tried to keep their prices down.

Great for takeaway on the beach

Don’t bother with this place. Chips were dead and the fish was a bit too greasy for my liking. Also, had to wait too long for what was a disappointing meal.

Popped in here rather than pay the ridiculous price directly on the seafront. To my delight this was some of the best fish and chips I've ever had in Brighton and Hove, quickly cooked from fresh and served by a friendly chap, all at a good price.

Looking for a quiet place on a Friday night in Brighton, this one seemed to fit the bill. The Famous Sichuan offers a combination of traditional Chinese dishes and Thai, but the menu was a bit confusing until we worked out the system. I had hot & sour soup which was fine. My chicken dish, on the other hand, was less than interesting. I would be very surprised if it was freshly cooked. Relatively expensive for what we got, and the service was not very welcoming, in fact quite blunt.

We went to Earth & Stars as one of our party is a vegan and this pub seemed to combine both vegan food with a good steak. We went in the evening mid-week. All very relaxed with a definite "Brighton" feel to the place. The food was excellent. No starters or dessert available but the main was very tasty both vegan & non-vegan. Also a good range of beers including an excellent vegan beer (I am not a vegan but I understand that vegan beers are in many cases tastier than normal beers as I really liked this one). All in all a good dining option if you like your pubs relaxed and your food tasty.

Walked in to a shop that's bit dirty and tatty, Tryed to order chip.cob but don't do cobs so just had chips. Portions were small and chips slightly under cooked not impressed. Shame

I ordered large cod (£8:50), chips and mushy peas. Upon opening at home, the cod was a small medium size. The cod was not fresh. Mushy peas in a tiny container (not the standard size). Additionally the owner was rude, this is not the first time I've noticed his poor manner. I will not be going back.

First time trying this place today. We ordered two portions of chips, curry sauce and drinks. Unfortunately the chips were quite obviously reheated as they were hard and chewy, very disappointed. Won't be back. Much nicer places in the area!

Chippy Chips is our family’s favourite fish & chip shop. Tastes amazing and is very liberally priced. We regularly receive great service, even we are the last customers of the day. Highly recommend as a local 💛🧡❤️

Fantastic place - fresh fish and crispy chips. The owner was very friendly and we were able to tailor our order accordingly. You can eat on the premises, take the food to the beach or have it delivered. Top quality Fish and Chips. Most recommended.

Nice chips, fish ok, sausage not good at all they taste very very cheap, sausage is the same used in there battered sausages and could not finish, tasteless didn't taste of pork at all. Disappointed had to throw in the bin

Expensive and they charge you £2 for a small bottle of ketchup instead of providing it free or for a small charge. Rip off! On the plus side, the fish was fresh and tasty.

I wasn’t keep for fish & chips but one of my friend recommended them to give it a go. No doubt best fish & chips I enjoyed after long times. Perfectly fresh cooked. A minute from the seafront so I just takeaway n enjoying my sea view as well as having tasty food. Must recommend.

Fast, fresh and friendly. Cooked to order & helpfully split our chip portion for us as we were sharing with our small cods. Perfect portions…sat on bench by the beach…in November and it was yum!! Gave you the thumbs up as we walked back past!!

I’ve just called here on the way home for a small fish n chips. All fresh with crisp chips and batter. Managed to take a photo before I scoffed it but only just. Well Done. Too hungry to put it on a pretty plate but at least I remembered to take a photo 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

Quality chips, homemade fish cake nice and peppery. Fairly standard fayre. If its fish and chips you want you could do a lot worse. Friendly staff. Very well situated for the beach (and Dave Gilmore's house).

We were led here by the good rating, but I'm afraid we were quite severely disappointed. At first sight it looked like they had all the COVID-19 guidelines down really well. There's a sign that says entry with mask only, and there is a table to enforce distance in front of the counter, with sanitiser. This impression changed however when a group of adolescents with no masks went in, all huddled together, to pick up their order, and the staff made no intention to challenge them. At that point we also noticed the staff weren't wearing masks or gloves themselves, and there was no NHS QR code to check in, while all the businesses around them had these, and the little bakery down the road insisted we scan the code even for just getting a takeaway coffee. We queued outside, as there were several people waiting. The staff inside didn't really take notice of us, so when another group of people went right past us to go in, we didn't even have time to point out there was a queue, and they were served first, putting an order for 7 people in front of our 2. When we finally got to order, the man at the counter was brusque and not very interested. He asked for clarification on a large cod with small chips and plaice with small chips ordered one at a time several times. Payment was cash only, although it says contactless payment is available on Maps. We were lucky to even have cash with us, but in hindsight I think it would have been more lucky not to have any and to abandon the order. While we were waiting outside, the same member of staff came out of the shop and went into the off-licence two doors down to get milk, still not wearing a mask. We went back in to finish up our order, asked for lots of salt on both and vinegar on one of our dishes, and seemingly got neither. What we did get however was a very large amount of grease. The fish was drained in batter so heavily, it was fishy batter rather than battered fish, and it smelled and tasted of used frying oil. The grease was collecting at the bottom of the Styrofoam box in amounts large enough that it could be tipped out. While the fish was very soft inside, it tasted of practically nothing, apart from old oil, and so did the chips, which managed to be incredibly soggy yet devoid of any vinegar at the same time. We were quite impressed that some of them managed their way under the box inside the wrapping paper. All in all it was a hot meal, but not an enjoyable one. The ordering process and the wait were stressful from a COVID-19 perspective, and the food was terrible. I would not recommend this takeaway.

Good tasting chips, even if a bit soggy. Only complaint really is the cheese portion. If I'm paying £1.30 for the extra cheese then atleast out more than a few sprinkles on, please.

Visited on Sunday 29th November. Ordered a large, open chips. The guy serving was very grumpy and when my partner mentioned that we had requested them open he rudely replied “well I’ve wrapped them now”. It soon became apparent why he was reluctant to serve them open as they were stone cold. If they’d have just bunged them back in the fryer for a short while they would have been delicious! Shame that they can’t master the basics.

Always good quality fish and chips from this place. Its a great location for chips on the beach, there was a huge que last time i went but they handled it all very well with the social distancing and taking orders

Quite possibly the worst fish I’ve had in a long time. Batter was thick soggy, greasy and tasteless. Chips were ok. Staff could have been friendlier. Look elsewhere for your fish & chips to eat on the seafront!

Manager told me he had refunded me 20 pounds instead of taking it from my card and demand I now had to pay him 20 pounds and then pay for my order even though my account did not show any money received. I said "get a policeman, I'll wait." I left with no food and without loaning him 20 pounds from my bank account.

Bloody lush! Though, kindly saying some organisation of the 20 people gathering outside, because it's so yummy, but no social distance, I am a bit bold and say, can u get 2 meters away pls? But other parent, but thank you chippy chips! Unfortunately, I got home with half of my take away, and endeavoured to heat it back up, my daughter turned the oven on for me a wee bit high, the polystyrene plate melted with the food! Soooooo, I'll b back sooner than u think! Xx

I visited here last week as it my local fish and chip shop i ordered large chips curry sauce and two buttered rolls. Chips were chewy and overlooked , curry sauce half a portion and watery, wasn't impressed at all my advice go somewhere else and spend ur money on decent food.

This is the best Fish and Chip shop in the whole of the South Coast. Proper fish and chips, and proprietor is very friendly.

We ate here for the first time this week and we had the best experience! Firstly the chips were superb, just as they should be. The batter on the fish was crispy and delicious. The portion size was huge~ we bought the Thursday promo of a small fish and chips for £5·50, Neither of us could finish our portions. We then tried for the first time a battered mars bar! Whether you agree with them or not there is no denying that melted, gooey caramel and chocolate in crispy batter tastes great! Lol The owner was very friendly and chatty and I watched him show a genuine act of kindness to another customer. We really enjoyed our meal here (you have the option to eat-in in the small dining area~ which was very clean and was maintained regularly) . This is definetly our new number one fish and chip shop!

Great fish n chips, yummy curry sauce. Situated 1 minute walk from the beach, perfect. My only feedback and reason for not giving 5 star would be to please change or just be rid of your styrofoam trays which cant be recycled. There is no real need to actually use. Just wrapping in paper is perfectly fine and better for the environment. Thanks!
