MIKO'S Ecuadorian and Spanish Kitchen in Southwark

A bit disappointing for me but my fellow eaters had a better experience. I got the humita, the maduro con queso and the tuna and onion soup. So the humble humita was actually the best: delicate flavour with a bit of cheese inside. A very good portion size for the price as well. I also enjoyed the maduro it was nicely caramelised, with the soft cheese a subtle offset. My husband and his friend both enjoyed their expansive meat dishes. My husband did note it wasn’t the best flavour he’s ever had which I’m not surprised, being Ecuadorean myself. Now for the negatives… My glass of chicha tasted like SOY sauce. My husband agreed… it definitely WASN’T the chicha I had in Peru and Colombia. This is definitely my fault but the huge bowl of tuna and onion soup was too… fishy. More like a boullabaisse. There is an extensive weekend menu that unfortunately wasn’t available Thursday night so I want to come back for the prawns in coconut sauce. On service, it wasn’t great, like in many places in the U.K. The lovely Brazilian waitress had, like it seems every server in Europe has, tunnel vision, and cannot cope with multiple tables at once. That said it was quite busy last night and it seems staff is limited.

I tasted Chicha de Jora for the first time and I loved it even more when the owners told me they home-made it. I know for a fact that making Chicha is a a bit tedious and a long process. So they deserve more than 5 points for such an effort.

Excellent food lovely ambience and friendly staff. Great music would highly recommend. Come on South London support this great eating place.

I went in feeling happy to get food from Ecuador, looking forward to a cultural home expirience, home away from home, and left feeling very disappointed. The food I couldn't eat as it was too watery and salty, and the coffee was disproportinally big and watery, all I taste was the water in it. The service was terrible beginning to end. All I enjoy was the music. When I said I couldn't eat the food or drink the coffee I was made to feel like they were doing me a favour, I am the customer, although I didn't eat anything or drink the coffee they asked me to pay. The can see I didn't eat or drink anything but asked me to pay anyway. No apologies, not a faint smile, I was bothering them. How sad and dissapointing. I will never ever visit again. So embarrassing to bring my friends here. No one eat. I have never visit a place like it here in London, I have never received such treatment before. OMG I am still in shock.

We came around this restaurant by accident, the food was awesome and the drinks were great. I would definitely recommend it to people and the prices are good. Desserts were so nice and I would really recommend Macaroons.

No no no, definitely no. First off, waiters are like statues, no smile, no pleasant acknowledgement. I ordered a soup, which usually is a safe choice, not this time. The chicken in the soup was dry, old. almost flaky. The price was much higher than what I normally find in similar places. I'm a big fan of south American food and I eat it quite often in small restaurants in Old Kent Rd where the food is fresher, bigger and CHEAPER and the owner welcomes you warmly.

We’ve walked past MIKO’s multiple times and thought the aroma was amazing each time so we thought we’d try it. We got the £15 deal (which included soup, a main and a drink) along with another main (the seafood paella). In the deal we chose the chicken soup, grilled fish and a ‘sex on the beach’ cocktail. The chicken soup arrived first and was easily the most disappointing part of the meal. It was a chicken stock with a bone still at the bottom, with tiny chunks of potato and chicken floating around the bowl. Later on we were served a different paella than what we ordered (beef, chicken etc.). When asking for the seafood paella, the waitress told us they didn’t have the ingredients for seafood paella and asked us to pick a new main. We settled on the king prawns and decided to share the other main. During the time when we were ordering, the waitress informed us we could order a cocktail as a part of the deal. However we were later told that it wasn’t included in the deal, but the waitress was kind enough to include it for us and we continued the meal. Overall the service was good, but was overshadowed by the poor starter, a lack of options and a poorly valued deal

Fuimos a comer con mi familia y para empezar tuvimos que llamar para que nos atiendan te tiran las cosas incompletas y pedimos entre los platos una sopa de marisco y nunca había visto una sopa así en el caldo del encebollado le agregaron un poco de mariscos descongelados y unos trozos de pimientos del guiso de carne, no sabía a nada estaba horrible no pude comérmelo y se lo devolví diciéndole a la camarera que le dijera al dueño que esto no es una sopa de mariscos y sabe muy mal y muy caro, y el dueño no fue capaz ni de acercarse a la mesa a decir nada tan solo nos miró y pasó completamente, otro plato que mis hijos y mi marido se pidieron fue la bandera y fue igual fatal incompleto tirado el mismo marisco descongelado y ya sin ningún sabor a nada y la bandera lleva ceviche no mariscos descongelado. Pagamos casi £80 y salimos con hambre

We went to a Latin festival nearby and we decided to eat there ... Mistake ... They let us waiting for a table ages when finally we got one not enough chairs for all of us, food took ages, it was grease and salty, they charged us something we didn't order, we complaint, they took the item out but then we pay by card the machine was faulty I have to pay again but when my bank statement arrived I was charged twice ... They wanted to get more money no matter what or how ... Terrible all in all ..never come back or recommend 👎

Lovely south American vibe...nice staff. Most food is deep fried and tasteless. However £19.00 for 2 glasses of wine is unacceptable.

I have never left a negative review in my life and I do realize that this is not a Michelin starred restaurant, but dear me, I also think that you can expect some sort of standard when you go out to eat. The worst customer service in London. All the team in front with the owner have been unprofessional and rude. if you allergic to an ingredient they will not care. I have been told them about what I’m allergic and they still give me and told me don’t have.

I always try and give the benefit the doubt to restaurants, but our experience here was terrible. I phoned up and made a booking, which they then forgot. We still got a table, and our order was taken about 15 minutes, and 40 minutes later we hadn't got anything. The waiter admitted he had forgotten to out in our order.

I do not recommend it to anybody as i had the most disappointing experience. Food is overpriced, not fresh and looks like left overs. Unfortunately I order a takeaway so I didn't realise what awful was going to be until I got home, due to the distance and luck of time I didn't get back to demanding a full refund so all the food in the bin. Disappointed and disgusting

El restaurante parece bonito pero el menú no tiene nada de Ecuatoriano creo que mucha mezcla de tantas comida está mal bien es Ecuatoriano or no? No confundan a la gente ..

This local cafe serves real Ecuadorean food in the heart of Elephant and Castle. I asked for a chicken sandwich and was delighted to get a real chicken breast in between two slices of bread. Really tasty! Recommended.
