nowhere near an arepa, i had many arepa in my life and this just is not anywhere near where it should be, the quantity is for baby, is flavouless, and by large over priced for what you get, i was not impressed that who prepared it was indian, when arepa come from no where near india, autenticity is just not there

We had the rice boxes, and they were delicious. Everyone in the group (there were 20 of us) loved them.

Pinto beans Arepa was fantastic and juicy. However the chicken Arepa felt a bit more bland. The cassava fries were very interesting although serving it with a sauce would be better. The corn balls with cheese was a must, thought they were excellent. Overall i loved it and I’m not sure why the ratings are so bad.

Came here to eat with family in 2018, very pleased to see such a variety of cuisines and cultures.

Absolutely disgusting, raw corn bun and watery beans straight out of the tin. All the water just made it all mushy and impossible to eat. 10£ downed the drain.

Arepa with too much tomato but any avocado

Not good. I have had arepas before and have usually enjoyed them, but this was poor. Ordered a "two little pigs" arepa which comes with pork, goats cheese and "caramelised onions". Unfortunately the onions were actually just a bland, pale, flavourless mush which made the arepa extremely soggy at the bottom. This also meant that the dish lacked a sweet/acidic punch to cut through the goats cheese and pork, resulting in the whole thing just tasting extremely salty. Also ordered some cassava fries which were very dry/stale. Service was poor, the staff seemed almost annoyed at us making an order (despite being the only ones waiting).

Jackfruit arepa was not good. Jackfruit was not marinated nor shredded, instead it was bulbs of jackfruit. This is like jackfruit 101 to not serve it this way. Bread became soggy quickly and lacked flavour. Pickled veg were nice.

These people need to sort themselves out. Spent £25 for two arepas and fries. Staff were cold for no reason. They didn’t even bother to give us any proper arepa sauce and wouldn’t give a thimble extra full of salsa for the fries without trying to change me. Took ages as well. Don’t bother with this place.

I’ve order the “Two little pigs “ £12 as they said the only meat left was pork, not a problem, meant to came with pulled pork goat cheese and caramelised onion. What I’ve got was only pulled pork, I came back to the chef and said they run out of everything…next time maybe tell your customers before they order no?

A pesar de las 3. 9 estrellas que tienen acá en Google maps decidí darle una probada. Especialmente porque los demás restaurant venezolanos no están abiertos durante los días de semana. Pese a la buena atención recibida, puedo decir que la arepa de carne no tiene nada que ver con la sazon venezolana. Es una lástima. Quizás ha sido adaptada al gusto británico pero para venezolanos no es.

This people is not honest how is posible then charge you twisted two times for and arepa 14.50 plus and other 14.50 outmost 30 pounds for and small and stinky arepa the service from the lady was awful disgusting I was claim my money back they say they will return me the money in at list 24 hours wish that’s not true never happen I hope they give me my money back otherwise this situation is going to escalate more ho and in stead to fix the situation easy they couldn’t just give me my money back or don’t charge me two times now I really need to go back to this place it was my first time in this Mercado metropolitano but never never again in my life I will go back to this place except for pick up my money that’s not serius I have really bad experience and a bad impresión from this Venezuelan restaurant they make my experience really awful in this Mercado metropolitano it was awful when it should be a good experience,I want my money back and I hope to the people write this I can help them to don’t go into the same situation cus this can no happen to people.

Not open when they say they are

Everything was super dry and tasteless in general. The yucca fries were stale and dry whilst the arepa was super undercooked and chewy. The filling (mine chicken) was also dry and had no seasoning whatsoever. Overall very dry and disappointing experience, would not recommend! :)

What happened to this place?? I order a two piggies arepa. Firstly, the girl took ages to prepare it. Then arepa was not well made. The pork was absolutely dry and the arepa was without flavour. No sauce at all. The fries were not fresh! You could tell they were several days old and dry as hell. Honestly appalling 🤮🤮

Something went very wrong with my smoky bean arepa today. I've had this a few times over the years and loved them but today's was insipid. There's so many ways to add flavour to beans but all were missing. Very disappointed.

Really disappointing. I had the jackfruit bowl which, on paper, promised so much. The black beans were straight from the tin - I would have expected them to be ‘pimped ’ in some way. There was no chilli sauce to be seen, something which was promised on the menu. The famous bread was undercooked and bland. Finally, unbelievably, the jackfruit had been scraped from a tin and dolloped on top. Jackfruit needs love and attention with spices and cookery! The quinoa was over seasoned too. All in all the dish was a salty, yet flavourless, bland combination of ingredients chucked in a bowl straight from the tin. Avoid!

The service today was dreadful, the lady had a lacklustre approach, a lack of enthusiasm and the food reflected this poor service.

I had heard from many people that the best arepas in London were at the Mercato, but this was my first chance to try Guasa. They have definitely lived up to the reputation!

Estoy seguro que está en el Top3 de restaurantes Venezolanos de UK. Un pequeño espacio en una esquinita del mercato metropolitano (un lugar recomendado para visitar y tomar unos gins). Personal muy amable y resolvieron una eventualidad de la mejor manera posible. For sure in the top3 of Venezuelan restaurants in the UK. It is a small place in a corner of the metropolitan market (recommended place to visit and drink some Gins). Very kind staff and they fixed an incidence in the best way possible. 5stars!

We tried the Vegan teriyaki jackfruit Arepa and were sadly really disappointed. It didn't come with anything else like lettuce or pickles like they show in the pictures of non vegan options. The actual dough was really chewy and stale tasting. Not like the crispy outside and fluffy inside we love of Arepas we've had in the past. Definitely not worth £9.00 at all! Sadly we wont be recommending this place. A huge disappointment.

I’ve ordered many times from Deliveroo and the food it’s great and delicious but there’s always an issue with the order. Always something is missing and someone if left without food which is not nice.

I came here yesterday for arepas, as I havent been able to get hold of harina pan since lockdown to make some. And well, it was delicious. The guy working was very friendly and reccomended the buffalo beef filling, which was really tasty and tender, and the arepa crispy. Ill definitely be returning in the future. Thankyou

Just had a papelón, super refreshing for this hot weather, HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! I only wish they sold a pint size serving because it's soooo good! Everything else looks delicious and the service was just lovely. I'll be back!

Not as expected, arepas are well made but the content is not really venezuelan is more like mexican food inside an arepa, the fried casaba is with a season powder that delete the casaba taste and finally the guasacaca is mire like a guacamole

The restaurant participates in the Karma app for reduced price meals that are to be thrown away otherwise. I payed to pick up a meal (that the app guarantees is reserved for you) only to lose my time going and be told they are out of the food already!? AND they wouldn’t give me a refund, told me to handle it on my own within the app. Scam place!

La configuración profesional, rápida, aunque necesita una gran área al aire libre para todos los equipos, pero merece la pena. Amazing, booked for a party we where having in our home and it was amazing. The where professional, quick set up although you need a large outdoor area for all equipment but totally worth it. My guests loved the food and all wanted to book for their own party’s. 100% recommended! Thanks Guasacaca for a great party!

I had the beef arepa and it was really damn good. I didn’t think it would fill me up but the arepas themselves are made of cornmeal so are quite stodgy. Their texture was unlike something I’ve had before, thick and soft but very crispy on the outside. Like a really thick South American pita bread if you must... but made of corn! The filling was very tasty and make sure to get both the sauces, the chilli and the avo! Price wise, it isn’t cheap but it’s very standard for where you are.

SOY DESIERTO, SELVA, NIEVE Y VOLCAN... One bite and you are transported to Venezuela. Although Mercato Metropolitano is quite hip and tasteful, it gets crazy busy sometimes, but even when not a soul can fit there, I would go just for Guasacaca.

Falta de seriedad. Pedí una empanada y dijeron que lo hacían al instante. Les dije que ya regresaba de la frutería hasta que me lo preparen. Cuando regresé la puerta estaba cerrada y había gente adentro. Trato muy malo a los clientes.

This place is a stall in food market. It’s a very nice market with lots of stalls and craft beers including indoor and outdoor seating. And not as crowded as others like borough and Camden lock market. There was somewhat of a waiting time, but they give you a beeper to let you know when your food is ready, so you can wander around, find a table, have a drink, etc. The actual food was delicious! We had the buffalo arepa and the dominoes arepa. My personal favourite is the buffalo. The cheese sticks (tequeños) are some of the best I’ve had. If you like Irn Bru make sure to try the ‘Kolita’ - it’s a Venezuelan soft drink, that’s similar but far better :)

I sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo wanted to be amazed. But no. Poor service. Hardly any guasacaca and the fillings were fairly tasteless. You would get a better arepa anywhere in Venezuela.

really disappointing - ordered from the patanoster square market - when i got back to my office (1 min walk) it was stone cold - meat and plantain were like they came straight out of the fridge!

Nice arepas and tequeños, flavoursome and the size of the arepas was good.

La atención es muy buena, la comida divina, recomiendo probar las yuquitas fritas, son deliciosas y no son nada grasientas. Probé la arepa de pollo esmechado y estaba muy rica. Lo mejor es que puedes acompañar tu bebida con una malta o una frescolita. ¡Pronto volveré por más!

From never having tasted an arepa a few years ago, I am now fully obsessed. They are my go to if at Mercato or near a market where these guys have a stall. All the fillings are delicious (beef is my favorite), the avo sauce is yummy and pico de gallo is super fresh. Great and friendly service too. Also try Frescolita.. so much better than Iron Bru!!

I would just like to say had the Cheeky Chicken at the Isle of Wight Festival. It was so nice to find somewhere to have gluten free food and it's was absolutely delicious. Well done.

Este sitio no se merece ni una estrella...ayer fuimos mi familia y yo a comer...esperando algo aunque sea bueno....y no fue asi...mis hermanas pidieron la arepa con pernil...y el peor que hemos comido...parecia puerco hervido...yo pedi la arepa del.menu con pollo...y sabia a sopa de pollo con cubito....Lo unico bueno fue la frescolita...porque los tequeños estaban pasables....pero tampoco buenos....Señores.....por esto Venezuela esta como esta.....

A Venezuelan friend brought me to Mercato as I had never tried an arepa before. It was delicious!! I have since been back quite a few times and know they have other stalls around London which I hope to visit soon. The buffalo beef is a favourite with tequeños. The staff are really great too! Highly recommend!

I love Mercato Metropolitano in Elephant and Castle and recently went back to visit Guasacaca serving some of the tastiest Venezuelan food in London! This is exactly what I love about places like Mercato Metropolitano because you can come here and try something new every time. We had rounds of delicious food, each dish with different flavours but all so tasty. Round one – Tequenos (deep fried cheese sticks) This was probably the most exciting of the rounds purely because we were given two very contrasting sauces. The first was Guasacaca’s signature sauce, guasacaca, which is made from avocado but less thick to make it a better consistency for dipping. The spicy cheese sticks combined with this sauce was a real savoury treat. Then we had the plain cheese sticks with a sugar cane and orange sauce and it became an indulgent sweet treat! I love how versatile these cheese sticks were and how extremely moreish they were too! Round two – Yuca Frita (cassava fries with guasacaca and habanero chilli sauce) & Tostones (toston cups filled with shredded beef, pico de gallo and llanero cheese) All I can say is that these sides really blow the standard sides of chips and salad out of the water! These cassava fries were super thick, almost the thickness of a croquette rather than a chip and they were salty and left you craving more. The toston cups were savoury crispy plantain and were so tasty, filled with succulent beef. Round three – Arepas (stuffed gluten free corn pockets) We decided to go for the £16 option where you can get 4 smaller sized arepas which means you get the opportunity to try ALL the fillings! The fillings are shredded chicken, shredded beef, roasted pork leg or the veggie option, black beans, fried plantain and llanero cheese. What I love about arepas is how crispy they are on the outside and how fluffy they are on the inside. The fillings in each one were full of flavour and we had and we had no trouble finishing the lot. As a Londoner I want to spread the word about Venezuelan food. It needs to be recognised as much as Mexican, Thai, Indian and all the other global cuisines us British love. With such a varied menu bursting with flavour you are guaranteed to find something you love!

Fantastic food with really friendly staff! I opted for the pig box and I was not disappointed. The crackling on the meat was perfect and the salsa with the black beans was so fresh and tasty. The avacado sauce is a perfect accompaniment. The bread they offer was also crispy on the outside and doughy on the inside. A must try!

I was taken to the Mercato Metropolitano by some relatives and highly recommend the experience; despite being a partially open food court, it was surprisingly warm in there on a cold evening. We all tried food from different stalls, and I was very pleased with my choice of Venezuelan food from this stall; the service was friendly and most efficient, and the Buffalo Beef Arepa was delicious, and more unusual than much of the food on offer elsewhere. You can get Polar beer, but I preferred the choice of craft beer at the next stall.

Being Venezuelan and eating this arepas makes you feel back home! 100% recommended whether you have ate it before or you are just giving it a try for the first time.

I think about this food in Mercato Metropolitano that an incredible street food. The people are super friendly, the location of the Guasacaca London it is between Borough and Elephant & Castle in NEWINGTON. The place is excellent and the food much better. The Arepa is your typical food - It´s white corn flour. (Gluten-Free). I also tried the Tequeños, similar a cheese stick, have inside usual Venezuelan cheese and even ate Cassava Fries, identical to the potatoes fries. I will go again..

Delicious, freshly made arepas with freshly made filling. Perfect every time!

The personal is good, good quality of foods, the problems are only in the menú, they make only three differents type of arepas. But this is just a little market and you can buy everywhere what do you want, but if you want eat a Venezuelan foods, it's not bad to go.

Been coming here since they opened at Mercato Metropolitano! There is nothing more delicious than their "Two Little Pigs" arepa. I also love they're always so smiley when they're serving you! Definitely part of my weekly routine!

I have tried other arepa places in and around the UK and Spain...I must honestly say, I've never tried something like this. Full of flavour and very filling! And the girl at the counter was ever so nice!

In the Guasacaca stall in O2.. I've been waiting for over 1 hour and still in the middle of the queue....

Although the food was tasty, the Arepa food box for £7.50 was not worth it from their food stall, little bit of onion & tomato, some beans and chicken with the corn bread - left still hungry and £7.50 down, will be checking out other Arepa vendors around London with better priced products, won't be back

My first time trying Venezuelan food was a delight I ordered the cheeky chicken which is gluten and diary free and does not disappoint it's simple yet delicious food that is worth the mown and in this case the wait as it was a takeaway order, must try for food lovers.
