Miah's of Pangbourne in West Berkshire

I ordered food at 1845 and was told it would arrive in 30 minutes - the food arrived more than 90 minutes later close to 2030. The order was incomplete and the food was cold. The price quoted was £59 - I then received a call saying there would be an extra charge for delivery of £3 as I was out of area (despite my village being listed on their website). When the delivery arrived the driver demanded that the £3 be paid in cash. When I check this morning the charge to my card was £69. I have therefore paid £13 more than quoted for an order that was incomplete, late and cold. Not good.

This place is a little gem. I've tried lots of different dish's over time, all have been of good quality with good portions

On this visit the food was excellent as usual but a 35 to 40 minute wait between ordering the food and it arriving at the table was appalling. Also, once we had finished and were ready to pay it was some 10 to 15 minutes before we could get anyone’s attention? Unfortunately another reason for a lower rating. I suggest paying more attention to all paying guests that eat in, in both parts of the restaurant!

Another good visit. It’s never a disappointment and dull moment. The food and service is always good. We are always looked after very well.

Fantastic customer service and even better food. I tried to order chicken pakora without realising it wasn’t on the menu but the manager had it made specially for a very very reasonable price. I look forward to returning.

After spending a day out we decided to order some food and collect it from Miahs on the way home. I ordered online and paid with PayPal as that was an option. We got to the restaurant only to be told that the computer was down and no orders had gone to the kitchen. These things happen, but we couldn't wait and order again so my wife asked for a refund. The staff in the restaurant said they didnt know how to refund in PayPal so I put in a claim for a refund when i got home. No reply. Had to raise a claim with PayPal and they still didn't reply. PayPal have now refunded my money because Miahs wouldnt engage in the process. Needless to say we will not be using them again.

I came here with my Mum and Dad for a Saturday night meal. We'd only had a takeaway from here. We came in and we were amazed by how pretty the restaurant is and the cleanliness. We were greeted on time and in a professional and welcoming manner. Our food and drink came piping hot, as expected and with great customer services. We were very happy when we left. We will be back :)

Staying locally and fancying an early evening meal out, we decided to give this restaurant a try. Pleasantly surprised to find they had an early week special deal (Monday/Wednesday ) a selection of starters and mains for £13.95 including rice and naan. We added some poppadoms and pickles and an extra veg dish plus two drinks for a reasonable £42 total bill. The food was fresh and tasty and plenty enough for us. Parking is tricky on the streets, but their recommendation was to use the Dentist carpark over the road as they were closed - that worked for us.

Best Indian by far, absolutely stunning meal we had, so fresh and made to order, would highly recommended, will only ever now use this place.

Ordered at 6:15 for delivery at 7:15 but didn’t get the food until nearly 9:15 after 7-8 phone calls. And it was cold. Tasted ok but atrocious quality of service.

I used to use Miahs establishments across the Berkshire area , however what started out well was ruined by the Miahs Pangbourne Experiance, the delivery portions got smaller and smaller , yet there prices went up , also as a regular customer and being friendly with Dipple the man who answers the phone , this drastically went down hill even further , I rang to make my usuall order and was told by Dipple they had no delivery drivers available , however after getting my partner to make the order from a different location , all of a sudden they were able to deliver , I took this up with DIPPLE , who then after being caught out with lies became aggressive and rude , obviously no body likes to be caught out , shame on Miahs I will never use again as they lie the food is pathetically small portions and as for quality well that varies like the weather Andy

Family Sunday out. Went for Sunday dinning. The food was cooked all fresh and the waiter help us choose the dishes and bought a mixed starter out as we were 8. Good value Good service Good atmosphere Good music Amazing food 👍

Visited for the Sunday buffet started with a warm welcome then poppadoms with dips which were so good we purchased a selection to take home . All dishes were cooked up fresh to order and a great selection. You order the dish then select the meat and choose the cooking style got to say we both thought this was possibly the best Indian meal we have ever had the bill came too £43 that included a beer and a small bottle of prosecco so incredible value as well a must visit

I often take colleagues and clients to Miah's and never disappointed. Amazing food, friendly service and lovely atmosphere. Especially love the portion sizes, just enough but not too little that you don't feel well satisfied at the end of the night.

We were staying close by and decided to have take away one evening. The food was amazing! The Biriyani was exceptional. It was not busy when we went to collect our order and the staff were apologising because we would have to wait another 5 minutes - not a problem at all especially given that this was because everything was being cooked fresh. Very nice staff. You won't be disappointed if you eat in or have take away from Miah's at Pangbourne!

We had a lovely meal here last night. Good atmosphere, friendly helpful staff and the most delicious selection of pickles with our poppadoms. This will be my new go to for a curry.

Having passed this restaurant many times, on our way to Reading, we finally decided to stop one Saturday evening and give it a try. It was absolutely fabulous! The menu is varied, with lots of specialities. All of the dishes, were beautifully presented and full of flavour. It was a very relaxed atmosphere, with attentive staff. We are definitely adding this to one of our favourites and would highly recommend it.

The first experience of Miah's for most of our party. Excellent value and fabulous food. We were not rushed, which made the evening even better. Highly recommended!! ☺

I've heared great things about this restaurant for years but never made it there, but tonight myself and some family were on a boating weekend and moored at Pangbourne for the night so gave it a try, and boy was it impressive. The service was impeccable but also friendly, the atmosphere warm and inviting and the food out of this world. I don't think I've ever had such a delicious Indian meal. The portion was too large for me so I've even come back to my boat with enough to have for lunch tomorrow. I cannot recommend Miah's highly enough.

I ordered a £15 selection meal which was just lovely! The order came within half an hour and was enough to feed two people! After speaking with the manager who couldn’t be more helpful I felt it right to write this review! In these unpredictable times I for one like to watch the pennies and when spending out on takeaway know I’m getting a valuable meal, this ticks every box! Just had a delicious midweek evening meal at Miah’s. Every single member of staff was polite, friendly and really attentive. The food was amazing. I had sizzling hot chicken tikka wings, a really tasty lamb rogan and vegetable curry. Couldn’t fault any of it. The only pity is that the impact of Covid 19 has taken away a lot of these guys' normal custom which is such shame. Outstanding all round, you must go!

Me & my family came to Pangbourne and haven't tried Miah's,So my partner placed an order over the phone for pick up. I asked for a free bottle of coca cola to go with my £50 order which was laughed at by the manager and insulted us by saying "Are you serious, Is this children playing around?". The manager was extremely rude over the phone & has no telephone manner what so ever. I then got to Miah's and asked for my food in a calm & polite manner.I then asked who I spoke with on the phone as I was not happy with the way we had been treated.The manager who is a short Indian man with short hair then came out to the counter and started raising his voice telling me " Your not getting food, I will throw it in the rubbish bin for no reason. I told him he can keep the food as the service I received was appalling.I then proceeded to walk out of the restaurant with my two young family members when he came to the door shouting " I am going to get something", Like it was some kind of threat so id better go. He then came running at the entrance of Miah's screaming things like "I will f**k you" " Motherf**ker" etc. All of this was in front of 1 waiter & 2 of my family members. Very embarrassing and unprofessional behaviour!! Would 110% never order from this place & I will be advising everyone around the community to do the same! I then went on to order delicious Indian food for the family from TASTE OF TANDOORI in Tilehurst which was tasty! :)

We went for a Monday evening 'special' - this consisted of poppadoms & chutneys, starter, main course, rice or (choice of) naan and a side dish for £15.Our waiter was so cheerful and friendly throughout, offering us extra samples for free and showing genuine interest and impeccable manners. He was an outstanding example of someone who seemed genuinely keen to ensure we enjoyed all aspects of our meal. In a nation where restaurant service charges of 12% seem to be added automatically, with no requirement to actually provide any service, this was completely the opposite.On top of this, the food was delicious. Highly recommended.

Last night we made our first visit to Miah's of Pangbourne and would like to share what a lovely friendly place it is! The staff were fantastic and very attentive. The food portions were large and delicious! We could eat it all so took away a pretty large doggy bag to enjoy later!We will definitely be back

Amazing flavours in each dish. The service was good. Fantastic food expertly prepared. This isn’t just cooking by numbers you can see lot of pride and love that goes in making the dishes. Went in Monday with my brother and found they do a £15 midweek banquet (Monday to Thursday). The banquet menu was of good value 3 courses you can choose from and you can even choose a side. Would go back on weekdays again.

To start, I’ll address how they dealt with safety regarding COVID. In this regard, they were pretty shocking. Face masks were worn by 1 or 2 staff but were pretty much on their chin or only over their mouth the entire time. Menus were reused without being wiped and there was no social distancing whatsoever. As well as only one hand sanitiser in the whole building. If you’re vulnerable or concerned about COVID, do not visit this restaurant. In terms of service, it was slow and not particularly friendly. We had a table for 4 booked at 7, turned up 10 minutes late and still had to wait 10 minutes for our table. We waited just over an hour for our food, which by that time we were getting relatively restless. I do however, sympathise slightly. It was a bank holiday Monday and there seemed to be a single waiter, so he was doing everything he could. However they should have more staff serving. Finally, the food. I ordered the murgh garlic, which I couldn’t fault. I also tried the keema alla channa which was also pretty nice. The biryani was great, the rice was good and the popadoms and everything they came with were very nice. The only down side to the food was the vegetable balti. The vegetable balti was almost certainly made with paste and wasn’t anything special, so that was disappointing. Overall, it was a relaxing environment with good food overall. The service, however, was pretty inattentive and the hygiene control was completely lacking. This is how I would rank the following: Food: 7/10 Service: 3/10 COVID safe? : 2/10

Visited tonight and had a lovely meal and good service. The highlight was the pickles that came with the pompadoms really excellent.

Menu offers something different to the standard fare. Was full for a Monday evening, glad we booked. Staff were a bit pushed as I don't think they had planned for so many. Absolutely fantastic food, and the staff are so friendly and attentive. Brilliant service. The vegan curries we had were some of the best ever tasted, and were definitely on a par with the ones we had on our travels around India last year. Couldn't have picked a better restaurant on our first visit to this area...if you are ever in the area, you must try it!!!

I visited here a few weeks ago and loved it. Definitely the best place for a rogan josh in pangbourne. They also made my family and I feel very welcome.

All of the old staff have gone along with my favourite curry house. We've been eating here for over 20 years but no more. The restaurant was cold and they were playing 80's pop over the sound system, all charm gone. Last time they cocked up my meal choice, this visit it wasn't available. can only think the chef can't cook it. Ended up with a very bland CTM. Really sad to be writing this.

I ate here last Saturday. The food was outstanding, such flavour. We did have to wait a while to be served as they were short-staffed. They ensured we had complimentary drinks to make up for this and attended to us very well. We will return for another family meal.

Ordered a take away for four people Sunday evening. My daughter Recently moved here, the food was delicious! Everything tasted freshly cooked, chicken was tender and moist. Saucing was yummy too. Sadly, only one pot of onion salad for the 4 poppadoms we had, but that was an oversight. Young man that delivered was very charming too. Thank you all for a great dinner

The food and service never disappointing Stared with poppadums and chutney (dips). we wanted to try the salmon skewer they were doing during the christmas period and they were happy to cook some for us for starter which was Amazing (I wonder why they don’t have it on regular menu) For main we had Tandoori mix grill / naga chicken , special rice , chilli and cheese naan. All delicious Highly recommend

Brilliant! Went for a birthday meal. Service was excellent. Just a word of advice for anyone who lives in Tilehurst. We live there. Travel a bit further down the road to Zyka and go to Miah’s. Worth it! Excellent staff. And the food is next level!

We visited for a birthday treat on recommendation and were pleasantly surprised by the cleanliness and contemporary decor. We pointed out that our daughter has a nut allergy and to advise of the best dishes without. The waiter advised that if there was a dish she liked, he would ensure that nuts were not present. She choose a dish which was cooked to order and very enjoyable. All our dishes were cooked to perfection and our only mistake was ordering too much with sides etc. Which they gladly boxed up for us. The staffs were very attentive and will definitely pay return visit. THANK YOU
