Very poor choice and expensive. £26 for two burgers with wedges and two cold drinks. Burgers were horrid. Seasoned wedges barely lukewarm. To add insult to injury there were no condiments or sauces. Won't be eating here again

Staff are nice and efficient, Jon was particularly good. The menu was nice and I enjoyed the food and wine. I found it good value and great for pre show and interval. This is my second visit and I'll be back. Very easy to book alongside the concert tickets, phone and reception staff are excellent.

Pre show dinner, good location. Sold out of the 2 meals we had chosen ie beef stew and the pie. We both had the bacon and cheese burger. This was luke warm, the bacon and cheese were like a piece of rubber. The burger was so reconstituted, it didn't look as if it had seen any beef, and it was dry and tasteless. Chips were ok but also luke warm. Also the wine is far too expensive, the cheapest being £22 a bottle. On the plus side, the concert was fantastic.

It started well as the waiting staff were friendly and seemed helpful and it was lovely to have the table for the evening to enjoy coffee and desserts during the interval. But the cooking was poor, I had pasta that was still uncooked in places and had little or no dressing. It is, very understandably, not a huge menu or a particularly complicated one but given this you would expect the kitchen staff to nail each dish. I had prepaid after the meal for interval drinks and desserts and one of the drinks had been forgotten. This was provided when reminded but it limited the time to enjoy the break. So the overall experience was disappointing.

Didn't expect a gastonomic experience but failure of kitchen to supply what I'd ordered totally spoiled the meal such as it was. I advised the waitress that I didnt want greens or brocoli on my meal. So was disappointed to receive a meal with those vegetables on it and a separate plate of peas and carrots which they charged extra for. When I complained they replated the meal but the greens water had already soaked into the mash and the pie so meal ruined for me. Issue referred to management by waitress and only change to the bill was to remove the unordered item. Having the table for the night is a good concept but not one I intend to ever experience again.

We’ve visited this restaurant a few times before solely because the location is good and you can relax prior to the show. The staff are really friendly and helpful. The only downside is the food which is okay but not the best. I chose the burger this time which was overdone on one side whilst the other was hardly browned. One side of the burger bun was also burnt. One of the desserts we chose was the apple and berry crumble with ice cream but strangely there was only a teaspoon amount of crumble in the dish so I’m guessing they ran out. I mentioned this to the waitress who said that she would pass on the feedback. I would still return here as I like being able to book a table online, to be able to dine at the venue. I just hope that the standard of the food improves.

A sensibly priced good quality dining experience before a show. We arrived at 5.15pm and had a leisurely dinner before a 7.30pm show. I had mushrooms on toast, pork belly and apple/blackberry crumble. Absolutely delicious. Service was by enthusiastic youngsters kitted out in G Live uniform - very professionsl. Price about £30 per person including coffee and a glass of wine.

We have been here quite a few times since it opened. Unfortunately, it has not improved, which is a shame since it a very nice place. The food and drinks are reasonably priced, but for example he main course was warm at best and “chunky chips” was perhaps 15 of them. Please take this as an encouragement to improve because the place has a lot going for it.

Nice resturant to have a meal prior to seeing a show. Has the benefit of letting you keep the table for interval drinks which can be preordered. Have to say that this was not our first visit but was without doubt the most disappointing. The majority of one of the meals, curry, was inedible with no sauce. The remaining meals were acceptable but not enough to want you to go again.

We had a bad experience the last time we ate here but decided to give it another go. Things have improved. The service was very good (certainly a huge improvement) and special mention must go to Billie who was great looking after us. Thank you. The food was a bit hit and miss again but better. However, the pearl barley risotto was dry - the squash tasted burnt and it lacked seasoning. The plate went back to the kitchen half eaten which should always start alarm bells ringing for them. The bean and kale burger was ok but just not very imaginative. It is a shame. This restaurant has so much potential. It's really convenient to eat there before a concert and you can return at the interval for a dessert. It has improved but still has a way to go.

We've eaten at the Mezzanine a few times and have, until now, always been pleased with the quality of food and service, not to mention the fact that being G-Live's in-house restaurant, it's so handy for concerts etc. Our chicken and herb terrine starter was delicious, though rather small, the salad leaves were sad and limp and as to the two tiny strips of accompanying toast being sourdough? Somehow ! don't think so, either from taste or appearance! We now wish we'd taken a photo of my husband's Katsu Curry - although it tasted "just alright" it came as a congealed brown lump and its appearance was very unfortunate to say the least. My Hearty Chicken and Leek pie was good - the accompanying vegetables were not. Both the peas and broccoli were undercooked - and I say this as someone who really doesn't like overcooked veg - and the carrots were rock hard. I commented on this to the restaurant manager and was offered replacement veg, but really, it was too late by then. The final insult? We decided not to risk dessert but to end up with coffee. I asked for decaf. only to be told I could have ordinary black or white but they didn't have anything else. We're members of G-Live but won't now be returning to the Mezzanine, it's not even worth the discount. Such a shame, given our past experiences - on the plus side, the wine was good!

We'd pre-booked, so our table was available to us for the evening, including during the concert interval. As we walked through other diner's plates of fish 'n chips looked inviting, so two opted for that. Another chose ravioli and the other venison sausages/mash from a limited menu. And we shared a bottle of the recommended white wine. Our waitress was pleasant and helpful. The meals were served promptly but the venison sausages were tepid and needed to be sent back. The dish was returned piping hot, with apologies. The sausages weren't particularly tasty hot or cold however. We declined a dessert/further drinks so didn't return to the table. We later noticed that we were charged £2 for the table water we'd requested. That seemed a bit underhand. So three stars only because of the sausage and water issues.

The centre of Guildford is replete with restaurants of various ethnicities. I have visited many of these and the food quality ranges between very good and excellent. I believed that the days of food mediocrity in restaurants were long gone. That is until I had dinner at the Mezzanine restaurant at Glive, which is very convenient if one also attends a function. My starter comprised a very thin slice of what was described as a terrine but was completely devoid of taste. It was accompanied by a few green leaves that one could describe using many epithets, ‘fresh’ not being one of them. Dressing was conspicuous by its absence. The main meal reminded me of the school canteen, and consisted of a piece chicken breast, undoubtedly emanating from a pack, with a dubious curry sauce, from the jar, and a handful of rice no doubt coming from a sachet. The dish had a catchy name I cannot recall. The coffee is not for the discerning. I will be extremely surprised if any food is prepared or cooked on the premises; it is purchased pre-packed and just reheated in a microwave. The service was fine and cheerful but personally I resent being addressed as a ‘guy’. This may be the modern way of addressing people, but bearing in mind that the mean age of the customers when I visited was >70 years of age, the management might wish to reconsider. To surmise, this is an appalling restaurant that demeans Glive. There is a wide choice of restaurants at a stone’s throw from Glive that offer far better quality of food, and a far, far better value for money.

The menu has a limited choice of 3starters, 3mains &3desserts but the food we ordered:- Brazilian chicken skewers followed by tortellini with goats cheese &minted; peas + gourmet fish pie were excellent. We have eaten at this restaurant several times before concerts and have always sung their praises. Unfortunately, tonight was a disappointment. Waited 15 mins when we sat down. Eventually a waiter asked if we wanted a drink but as we hadn’t seen a menu we took a stab in the dark - they took the hint and brought us a menu. A prawn and crayfish starter with spicy Marie Rose sauce was lacking any sauce or spice and as one of the most expensive starters at over £7 was a poor value. The prawns and crayfish (?) if the latter was included, were the cheapest and smallest of ingredients a “chef” could buy. Forest mushrooms on sourdough bread was equally disappointing. The bread had been placed in a toaster and then served. No dressing or oil on the bread and the slice was toasted on one half and raw on the other. No attention to detail and no care. Main courses were disappointing. Maybe the evening could have been saved by the staff endeavouring to look after us. However a 20 minute wait after we had finished our main courses and before the plates were cleared didn’t help. Our waitress, when challenged, said they were busy. We ordered a cheese plate and a port for the interval. I have never seen such a small measure of port (served in a Sherry Glass) and 3 small perfunctory bits of cheese. Smacks of cutting costs, no pride in what they are serving and real disdain for their customers. Very disappointing.

The Mezzanine Restaurant is at the G Live Concert Hall and is primarily intended as a pre-show dinner venue. It doesn't have much pretension to be anything other than a quick meal Bistro, but does have a certain nice style about it. It's a bright, modern, open plan facility overlooking internally the foyer and externally the upper high street. The menu is straightforward and the food is fine. Not great but perfectly OK. Service is generally swift by a bevy of young, friendly and enthusiastic girls. Never a manager in sight but they mange well enough. Wine list is short and inexpensive. You can opt to defer dessert and coffee to the mid show interval. Perfectly Ok for a preshow meal and saves rushing in from an external restaurant at the last minute. We go often and so should more patrons. It's a good facility.

My husband and I had booked to see a show at G Live and decided to book for a meal at the Mezzanine Restaurant beforehand. We arrived on time for our 6pm booking. The waiter was confused as to where we would be sitting and we ended up walking up and down the restaurant a few times and standing in the middle of the restaurant until he decided where to seat us. We should have realised that this was a bad omen because from here onwards it only got worse. We ordered our starters and main course and waited and waited! On two occasions the waitress tried to bring us our main course,on both occasions we explained we hadn't had our starters yet! Eventually after a 45 minute wait the waitress appeared with two starters of game terrrine - not what we had ordered - she apologised saying this was all they had left it was this or nothing, but we could have it 'on the house'. As by now we we're starving we decided to take it. Now my husband and are are not fussy eaters, but this game terrine was absolutely disgusting, and we couldn't eat it. We called the waitress over and explained. She was really embarrassed and apologised, so we said don't worry just bring us our main course, Well this arrived, and it was soon evident that they were the same meals they had tried to serve us on the two previous occasions and had obviously been sitting on the side for some time. My vegetables were stone cold and my husbands lambsteak was cold and so over cooked and tough he just couldn't eat if. We called our waitress over again and explained that the meal was so bad we were refusing to pay anything and with that we left. My husband then had to go the bar and buy some Pringles and nuts as he was so hungry. All in all a totally horrendous experience that we will not be in a hurry to repeat!

What I thought was very poor was the tiny starter of salmon. Quote honestly it could not have been smaller or poorer in taste and texture. Of course I could not weight it but I estimate it was near 20 grams. The taste was so stepped in gin it may as well have been any cheap meat. Nicely presented but not good in taste or value.Secondly and I only bring up because of my overall feeling about being given poor value was the soft drinks. Advertising 300 ml and serving in a half pint glass filled with ice does not meet in my experience a 300 ml measure. Has cost containment started to ruin this establishment. I doubt we will return. I took my teenage daughter to watch ,”Lord of the Flies'” at Glive and we wanted to have a father- daughter night out starting off with a meal at The Mezzanine Restaurant and then head straight to watch the live show. My daughter and I were really looking forward to the evening out together. When we arrived at The Mezzanine, we were warmly greeted by both the waitress and the Manager of the restaurant. We were well looked after throughout the courses. Each course we had was a delight and appetising to the pleasing of our palate. It was good to see my daughter was enjoying her food and each taste of the course of our meal, we both said at the same time, “Wow! “ The food was well cooked, appetising and tasty to exactly how we hoped for and it was very filling indeed I was so stuffed by the richness of the starter and the main course that when the show started and just into the first 15-20 minutes of the start of the show, I just nodded off into a short quiet nap only to be woken up to the sudden loud music on the stage. When the first half of the show ended for the interval break, we headed back to The Mezzanine to finish off the dessert that we ordered. When our dessert arrived, again both my daughter and I with the first spoonful of the taste of our dessert, we said to each other, “This is SO Good.” I was by this time, REALLY stuffed and manage to watch the rest of the show without nodding off.Our overall experience at the Mezzanine, has been one enjoyable and a pleasant evening out. We came away after the show with much satisfaction that the whole evening with a father- daughter night out was all worth it. The food, the warm hospitality and excellent service of both the waitress and the manager set us up for a lovely evening for us to enjoy. I will return again to The Mezzanine, but this time a night out with my wife for one good meal and a good show to watch without me nodding off.Well done, to the staff and the manager of The Mezzanine for the excellent service and food.

Service was great but the starters were all a bit strange, something I would put in a pack lunch rather then have as starter and lot of pastry no butter with the bread so was bit dry. Main meal I had the Lamb and they kindly swapped the ratatouille for me to winter vegetables. the lamb was very tender very much enjoyed. I had the crumble for the pudding and it was very poor could have done with lot more custard very dry. Was lovely that when you booked the table you have it for the whole evening so in the interval you could sit and have your drink. would I go back yes if i was seeing a show.

We booked dinner prior to a show and liked the atmosphere which was busy and pleasant. Staff were attentive and service was good. The food was enjoyable rather than memorable but overall the environment and lack of hassle made up for it. Enjoyed being able to return to the table and our wine in the interval. Will do again for a special evening out as it is not especially cheap. Amazing how many people turned up last minute without table bookings - the place could have been filled twice over! Tables were not crammed together which made a pleasant change, the Mezzanine feels spacious yet warm.

This was our first time visiting this venue, and overall we were very pleasantly surprised. We were attending the Steve Harley and Cockney Rebel concert, supported by the Mona Lisa Twins who were also excellent. We had elected to book a table to eat before the concert in the Mezzanine Restaurant on the upper floor, and by doing this were guaranteed the table for the interval drink which you could pre-order. Service from the restaurant staff was excellent from the manager down! Efficient and friendly, have never seen so many staff smiling in one place. The food wasn't great to be honest but was eatable. We got the feeling it had been microwaved, as it was quite dry. I had a vegetarian curry, and my husband the beef cobbler with dumplings, followed by icecream for me and profiteroles for him. Didn't want to complain as it was a birthday evening out for me and the staff were so nice. Menus are available to see on line. We probably would eat there again but hopefully by the time we attend another event there the food may be better :). Well worth pre-booking though, as saves the rush at the interval, and queueing at the bar.ideal rating would have been good rather than very good, but experience overall was better than average.

We chose to eat here prior to an event, and thank goodness Jools Holland gave an awesome performance otherwise our meal experience would have ruined the evening.Booking was fine online and we had no problems with pre-event timing or the service, which was all very quick, friendly and efficient.Having looked at the menu online what we had offered on the night was quite different and there are only 4 or so choices in each section. We went for the Fish and Chips and the Venison Burger. Expensive for what we got at £14 each.My wife's piece of fish, although cooked OK, was tiny and you could count the number of chips because they were stacked ever so neatly in a little square at the edge of the plate - very pretty. Shame it was barely warm. She ate it quickly given the time and size of it, but we did mention it afterwards to the waitress and she apologised. My venison burger was delivered on a piece of slate board. Why on earth do chef's think customers want this - I'm not eating in a builders yard! - If it had said so on the menu I would have asked for a plate. My chips were in a little wire basket, so not easily able to count them, but more like a childs portion. The Burger was not very tasty, but I am willing to put this down to the fact that it was vension and therefore not a meat I eat often - maybe its meant to taste like that. The prentious presentation seems over the top for this type of restaurant, which is just the landing of the theatre and lacks any atmosphere. I would think most people just want a reasonable varied choice of well cooked, inexpensive food prior to the event they are attending.Still hungry we went for dessert. I had 3 small profiteroles for £6 and they were OK, but a little stale perhaps. My wife had 3 small scoops of ice cream for £6. Neither not really worth the money. We decided to order tea and coffee for the interval as we were told that we had the table for the evening and could leave our coats there. Great, although it was a shame that nobody mentioned that the interval was actually 25 mins after the start of the show! - We were expecting it to be in the middle and that at least the interval would have been announced in the theatre. Nothing was said and so we actually missed the interval and the drinks that we had paid for. After the show we returned to an empty restaurant, no staff in sight, and although our coats were there all the tables had been cleared. Not even a cold cup of coffee, or the unfinished bottle of water we had left there as well, Not impressed. In the past we have eaten in the Glive cafe downstairs and found it good so we will do that next time. There are also a lot of restaurants down the High Street that I think would be a better choice. We wont eat here again.

Our first visit, and booked table for 6 pm. The show timings we were given were: support act starts at 7.30, ends at 8.00; interval to 8.30, and main act starts. The menu, we had previewed online, looked imaginative, but we were a bit concerned about some TA reports of service delays. However it all went well for us. We had the sharing starter board, followed by lamb rump and a venison burger. All the food was very well presented, tasty and good portion sizes. The wine list is pretty short, just 3 Reds and 3 Whites and I think a Rose. The Chilean Cab Sauv was perfectly OK, and priced at £18. The staff were friendly and attentive. We finished our 2 courses about 7.10, and selected one pud and an espresso to be served in the interval - and settled the bill. We were invited to leave our coats at our table. It was very convenient to return to our table just after 8 pm to complete our meal.So overall it was a really excellent pre-show meal experience. We thought the prices are very reasonable for this quality of venue and food - given the restraints inherent in venue dining.Without hesitation we would eat here again.

Having booked to take a 90 year old friend with very limited sight to a Glive performance, and concerned about finding a parking space close by, I was delighted to find the Mezzanine took bookings from 5.30pm - we thought we would have a leisurely meal and chat, maybe even time for an extra coffee. Our drinks arrived quickly, but after about 20 mins the manager approached and said they were out of the starter we had ordered (how so? we were one of the first to arrive) neither did they have the alternative: we decided just to have the main course. 1 1/4 hours after we arrived, and following several complaints to staff - our main courses arrived ... my elderly friend was almost too stressed to eat - and having to allow time, for someone who is virtually blind and uses a walker, to get to the lift, down to the stalls and find our seats, we didn't have time for dessert or coffee. After further complaint to the manager that our evening had been ruined, he offered to deduct the cost of the drinks - one small glass of wine and an apple juice! he then asked did we want to add a gratuity / service charge (we didn't). I thought this was going to be the easiest option for a pre performance meal - and the box office highly recommended it - how wrong can someone be. We will eat elsewhere in the future.

Beautifully presented and tasty food, served by very attentive staff. Dishes are not cheap, neither is the wine, and I was disappointed in the range of choice of main course, but the restful atmosphere and the ability to enjoy your dessert or just a glass of wine in the interval at your own private table was a welcome compensation (on top of the free bottle of wine I received as reward for being a GLive Friend). Not sure if I would book every time I attend a show, but was worth the experience, if only to check how competitive against the many other eateries within 100 yards of the venue.

For our 50th Wedding Anniversary we decided to have a treat, to see Michael Flatley's Lord of the Dance. So to start off the evening in style we had a lovely meal in the Mezzanine Restaurant. It was the hottest day for over 10 years, the air conditioning had packed up apparently, and most of the windows could not be opened due to a fault! But at our age we have faced worse things than this, and our evening began with a lovely young man showing us to our table. Perfectly offering us drinks, we ordered our meal and all the delightful young ladies and gentlemen that looked after us made our evening unforgettable.

The staff were excellent, very efficient and helpful. The menu was limited and that isn't a bad thing! The starter, of a goats cheese salad had been sitting, ready for a while, as the cheese, which had been piped, had changed colour and overall, didn't look appealing, but tasted better than it looked! The bean lasagne was delicious and looked great! Portion sizes were just right. The idea of being able to return to your table during the interval for drinks and dessert, is a wonderful idea.

From the moment we arrived, the staff couldn't have been more friendly or attentive. We decided to book early so that we could have a leisurely meal. The food service was so prompt we had plenty of time.I like that the table is yours for the evening - we ordered interval drinks and they arrived as we sat down.Limited menu range - but that's sensible when you're catering purely for pre-show dining. If I were to be a little picky, I ordered the goats cheese and pepper mousse, which was lovely, but looked a little dry around the edges as though it had been piped on the plate much earlier. Everything else we ordered was well-presented and very tasty. The only other minor issue is the layout. Pre-show and interval drinks had been arranged for a special group who then block access to one end of the dining area - so you're constantly saying 'excuse me' - & those attending the drinks can think you're rudely pushing to the front.

We booked this online as we needed to eat before the UB40 concert. We booked for 6.15pm and had a leisurely meal. The staff were helpful, efficient and very friendly. They explained how the meal worked with the dessert in the interval etc. The only negative I would say was the limited choice of food, about 4 items in each section. However what we had was excellent. We had the soup and the goats cheese with pepper mousse. For mains we had the lamb burger and the fish and chips. The lamb was very tasty with gorgeous sweet potato chips. They were both beautifully cooked. We returned in the interval for our sweets and had lemon posset and icecream the posset was quite sharp but very good. The amaretti biscuits provided the perfect amount of sweetness to counteract the sharpness of the lemon. It was gorgeous.Everything was presented in a very contemporary way and looked really attractive. The portions were a reasonable size and it was all good value. This is an excellent and stress free environment to eat before a show. I would thoroughly recommend it.

We had a lovely time, the staff were very helpful and attentive (we were a party of 12). Two small things made the mark down from 5 stars to 4. Five items on the menu were already sold out (at 1pm) and the food came out bit by bit with one person not getting theirs until some of others had actually finished their meal. Also the 2 children's meals were nearly the last to come out - it would be good to get the kids eating first, or the adults can't concentrate on their food. Otherwise we had a lovely time and we will be visiting again.

What an absolute gem! I was staying for business and didn't arrive until late. I was welcomed by smiley and incredibly helpful staff. After a quick checking in process, I was taken to an exsquisite room beautifully appointed. I slept like a log in a big and truly comfortable bed. Breakfast was hot and tasty. I would definitely stay here again. Why stay in a large, impersonal corporate hotel, when you can stay here. Highly recommended!
