Been coming here for years so can seriously say meal portions have decreased, (substituted with lots of onions so not overly noticeable), prices have gone up, pickle tray is now the worst I've ever had regards to being watered down and staff not as pleasant as they used to be. Shame

This restaurant is in our village we have had takeaway’s but never eaten in , we will definitely be going back as we had a lovely meal and a great evening with banter from the staff who were lovely and also efficient. It was a Saturday evening and the place was very busy but luckily we had reserved a table . We also took our own alcohol so no need to pay silly prices for drinks . Definitely recommend

Takeaway. We ordered the set meal for 2 special they do on Sundays to Thursday. For £22 I wasn’t expecting much. However when he handed me the bag I could feel the weight of the food. Got home and laid it all out on the table, there was enough for 4 people. Everything was fresh, every dish was so tasty. What more can I say, thank you for a lovely Sunday evening meal. I’ll be taking the left overs to the office tomorrow.

Excellent food and service, the starters were served quickly and were very fresh, the mains were the best curries we've had in the area and the staff were really nice. the mango lassi was delicious and much cheaper than elsewhere, brilliant place.

Really nice experience , the food and service absolutely on it, we called Saturday early evening and the place was half full which is a good sign we thought they had a bar service which they only had soft drinks or non alcoholic as they didn’t have a licence, which wasn’t a issue as the coop was next door to get your own.

I Booked a table at this restaurant with three friends based on good recommendations regards quality of food and value, which was on point, unfortunately that was the only good thing about my experience. The welcome was awkward and functional, no warmth, politeness or attentiveness. We ordered food, tried to engage with staff by complimenting the food, I received a forced thank you. The restaurant was half full with plenty of empty tables, my friends and I felt rushed to leave our table and I welcomed. I would not recommend this restaurant and will not be going again.

We arrived having heard good things. Four professional women, with a couple of byo drinks. The first thing a waiter said to us was to let us know that we weren't welcome to bring our own alcohol free drink. The service all evening was aimed at getting the table free. Waiters were rude and misogynistic. Don't go, not a nice place

Booked in advance for Saturday night for a girls trip away - so glad we did ! Very popular restaurant by the looks of how busy it was ! The food and service was amazing ! Big portion sizes too. Would highly recommend and hope to visit again ! Fab restaurant lovely atmosphere

Great food, we didn't book but they found us a table, we didn't expect to have to book midweek but it was full. The food was excellent, we had the chefs special curry which was delicious, the set menu looked very good value as most things on the menu were included with a small extra charge for fish but we were not hungry enough for the full menu adn we are not keen on poppadums which were included. What we had was delicious and the naan was very good too, it's bring your own alcohol but we also had some mango lassi which was tasty.

Excellent food, service and value. Really good quality and you are not still tasting the curry for the next 2 days, lot's of large pieces of chicken in each of our curries, the breads are fresh, light and fluffy. Great that you can buy lassi by the glass as many places now you have buy a jug which is a bit too filling. The best place to eat in Meltham and the staff are very friendly.

Excellent food and service, full on Friday and that’s because of the high quality of the food and service, funny how they’ve suddenly started getting poor reviews from ‘new’ reviewers since Lu’s Place became desperate to overtake them on Tripadvisor!!

Great food but rushed all the way, staff very aloof, took friends plate away before I'd finished, such a shame as a really nice curry, don't think I will be returning as they are in too much of a hurry to give you your bill !

Our favourite Indian restaurant, always fresh, well cooked dishes, wide choice of dishes, one of the few places where the takeaway food is as good at eat-in as often takeaway can become a bit greasy once the food starts to cool but our takeaways from here are delicious, always busy which is a sign of the great food here.

Called in for a takeaway as in the past we have had some tasty food from here.However on this occassion my Lamb tikka madras was mainly all sauce with some tough pieces of lamb in it. I only had six pieces of lamb in total swimming in sauce.I would say the lamb had been cooked seperately then the sauce poured over afterwards.Not that good for the price charged.

A great night for our group of friends, the food is always excellent here, the dishes are good portions, really fresh and a good price, the naan breads and chapatti are light and fluffy, the staff are very friendly.

The very first time in 7 years of having an assistant dog that I have been refused admission to a restaurant Meltham Balti, despite acknowledging that this was against the law

We dined here on Monday the 3rd of April and I was horrified to witness a gentleman in a wheelchair being refused access. He had what was clearly an assistant dog with him yet the waiter wouldn’t allow them in??? How is this acceptable behaviour from anyone in 2023 let alone an established business who should surely be aware of the law. Shame on you Meltham Balti, we’ll be dining elsewhere in future…

We had a large table for a family birthday meal. The food was excellent and service very fast considering the number of different dishes we ordered. The staff are friendly and do their best to make your visit enjoyable. It's BYO alcohol so makes for a very reasonably priced night out.

We were a three generation party during the covid 19 of 8 eat out to help out. The restaurant was fully booked and the staff were rushed off their feet. We had to wait outside for about 10 minutes as the restaurant was full of diners. Once we were at our table service was slow owing to the eat out/help out but the staff were rushed off their feet. The food when it arrived was excellent as were the prices, we ordered six set meals plus extras for the younger children. Bring your own alcohol kept the prices down but we ordered soft drinks from the menu. The total bill was £60 with HMG paying half, otherwise £120 for 8 people still excellent value. If you are in the area stock up on alcohol if you want it, there is a co-op next door and enjoy excellent Indian food at Meltham Balti without breaking the bank. Highly recommended

Having tasted many different Massalla dishes from takeaways across the hudds area i can safely say ive not seen or tasted anything so vile in my life. I entrusted the task of ordering to my neighbour who was collecting a curry i awaited my curry and took one look at it and a single finger full. It was disgusting. The neighbour phoned to request another which turned up exactly the same. Both went in the bin. £6.10 that ill never get back. Having then looked at the menu i was HORRIFIED to find Cream and almonds in there. Nowhere else that i know off adds this kind of Jazz. It was sickly sweet, gritty, and generally nasty. I wont be back.

After spending a night in meltham we decided to pop into meltham balti being curry lovers.This place was busy with locals and the staff worked non stop but still took the time to give some recommendations on good choices.I've got to say my other half loves hot hot and hotter food. Usually adding his own chillis that he'll bring, however we both had the same dish although he was advised to have Asian hot which he opted for and he's not stopped talking about how good it was..I can't remember the name other than it was a kind of mixed balti and started with Bad which we nick named the bad boy balti.I thoroughly enjoyed mine as much and the starter chicken chaat was divine.Thank you guys for a fab experience.Food was great and we'll be back when we next visit the peaks;)

We are regular visitors to the Meltham Balti but rarely take time to review so this is well overdue.The guys always manage to fit us in even though sometimes its a last minute decision to go. All the staff are super friendly, polite and helpful showing a genuine interest in their customers.Food is always excellent, we have several favourite starters and mains which never fail to disappoint us. We always have the set menu and ask to take home anything we cant finish. Rice and bread is always great too. We visit as a couple, with family, friends and in groups and hope to be going for many more years to come.

We visited yesterday as a family and the meals were excellent without exception. Every course, every platter was a credit to the kitchen chefs.The service was exceptional especially as it was from several different servers. Once again this restaurant delivers excellent food, customer service and ambience. I love curry and have been to numerous restaurant's but Meltham Balti is probably the best of the lot.

We paid £14.99 for 5 courses.. and it was absolutely banging! Food is top notch, won't be beaten in Huddersfield!

Dined in with family, food was excellent, lovely warm environment. Very friendly staff, especially the one in the blue shirt, who was very friendly and helpful. His recommendations were on spot, everything was absolutely delicious. Would recommend to family and friends and hope to visit again.

Booked in here at late notice and got a table for 8 people. Got seated at the table to find they don't sell alcohol but not a problem Co OP next store so go and get a few bottles of wine to find on the table when we get back wine glasses for us. Ask about corkage and got told just enjoy yourself and relax. Ordered of the special £15 menu which was five courses. Well couldn't believe the quality of the food it was brilliant. We will be coming back to Meltham and will call in here again. Thanks to all the staff at front of house and not forgetting all them in the kitchen you did a brilliant job

Can only give 5stars to this very clean very polite restaurant who’s food is a delight it’s our 4 th visit and we always try something different and that’s what you get each dish is different not just the meat but the sauce

Meal out for three, friend over from spain for a few days greeted and shown to table, they do not have a alcohol licence here so bring your own, or the co-op is next door. nice meal not rushed, great service, just a little mild for my taste, but im sure that next time if I asked they would spice it up reasonably priced

We visit Meltham balti a lot and always have a great curry! A bit disappointed on Xmas Eve we weren’t told about the price increase of the set menu until the bill was brought out which was a bit cheeky! Other than that it’s good value for good quality food, the venue could maybe do with a bit of a face lift to go with the good food quality

I order from the takeaway about 3 times a month sometimes more and have been doing for several years. I like very spicy so they make mine extra hot for me even with the Bombay aloo. Only downside is they don’t deliver which would be handy on occasion, but the staff are so friendly I don’t mind dropping in for a chat as I pick up my order.

sometimes the food from here is very good & sometimes not so good but service is a bit hit & miss too (cooking the wrong dish) also never on time for takeaway collections and what i find absolutely unacceptable is the staff abusing me & threatening to kick my car because i was blocking a delivery van from reversing out onto the road i was travelling on (my right of way) this restaurant needs to get its service issues sorted the would be a place to go to again

OMG, we were just visiting the town and numerous people tells us to go here, the food was exceptional the tastiest we have had in a long time, the staff very friendly and even threw in some onion Bhajis free of charge, very reasonable cost. Decided to try a takeaway and it was one of the best we have had. We rang probably at the busiest time of the week, 8pm on a Saturday night so the wait was 45 minutes which is acceptable as when we went to collect the place was packed.

If your ever in Meltham stop here and have a meal. We came here in a Monday night greay value for money. They do a 5 course meal Monday to Sunday for £14.95 and it well worth it it's not a set menu so you can order what you want you get pompadoms and pickles you choose a starter a main and it's ends with either ice cream or coffee. If I lived near here I would defiantly come again. And on a positive not you can bring your own beer.

We had the 5 course £15 option and it was excellent, lamb chop starter, chicken tikka jalfrezi for me, and a spicy duck speciality for my wife. We brought our own wine and a jug of iced water was provided without fuss. We had plenty to eat, nicely spiced food, just a pity we live too far away, but will return if we revisit Meltham.

We called in this evening for a curry and instead of asking for the first thing that sounded familiar we ask advice from one of the very polite staff who explained the different types and flavours. We had a really enjoyable meal at a very reasonable price and the service was excellent. Thankyou

Me and my friend came in to the Meltham Balti for a meal. We chose the 5 course meal for £15 each which is great value. As it’s a bring your own alcohol restaurant and on a hot evening we requested water with ice to which the waiter didn’t seem impressed. Starters were great, food was nicely timed and good service. However did find the lamb to be slightly chewy in one curry and the korma lacked a lot of flavour compared to other Indian restaurants tried previously. We were also disappointed with the Naan which was very thin. But for the price and amount of food it was worth paying for and was an ok meal.

We are regulars at the Balti, we visit here as a couple with the family and with friends. The staff are always friendly and the food is always fantastic and great value. The kids often choose to eat here too!

Very Disappointing evening spent at the Meltham Balti tonight. One of our starters of vegetable samosa served meat samosa's to a vegetarian. 3 Garlic Nann ordered one delivered told them we were short and they eventually brought another. We told them no we ordered 3 so he checked the order pad and as we had almost finished eating they brought the final one out. Sitting next to the bar we saw all females leaving the balti with a lovely rose. Just before the 8 of us left they removed the remaining roses from the vase, telling us there was none left We thought they were kidding and asked where our roses were. They refused to give them to the ladies in our party . Talk about discrimination. I certainly didn't leave a tip after all that . Wont be in a hurry to return there either. Pink Elephant here we come for our next Indian meal

We found ourselves unexpectedly child free and was able to escape for a CURRY! ( our daughter doesn't do spicy!) we knew where we were going... The Balti. The place was quite busy for a Wednesday and we hadn't booked. Not a problem as the staff are always friendly. We shared the mixed starter for 2 which was delicious and mine was followed by the Saag Paneer, that too was very nice. I can't remember the name of my partners dish as it was from the specials. It was suitably hot! As in spicy. Weekend booking is a must and its take your own booze.

This has become our regular curry house. We go often , friendly staff and great food 😊 would recommend to others , The current meal deal is very good value 4 courses finishing with a choice of coffee or ice cream☕🍦.

Evening meal for us was taken here ,a warm welcome ,service first class and the food was spot on then came the bill ,what a bargain will visit again when in the area ,a very nice experience.

We have a takeaway from here most weeks (as well as eating in regularly) its the only Indian we ever use as the food elsewhere is not a patch on Meltham Balti, great to have such high quality Indian food on our door step, we are really spoilt in Meltham having 2 places serving amazing food (Meltham Balti and Quirky) we will never be able to lose weight!!

Busy place had to wait for a table but not for long. They don't serve alcohol but we took our own. A very decent meal the starter was a bit bland but the main was very good. The restaurant has a very good menu with a wide choice of dishes. Overall a most enjoyable evening.

A very smart and lovely decor with a nice ambience to the place. The staff were very pleasamt and helpful when deciding on our choices. The food was served timely and hot, fantastic flavours and plentiful. I would certainly visit the restaurant again when in the area.

My wife and I, decided to visit the restaurant and found it clean and tidy with pleasant staff. Out starters were quite tasty. Then came the wait! Some people that came in after we had finished our starters were served before us with their main meal (regulars I would assume). We waited for nearly 45 minutes between the courses.

Had another excellent meal at Meltham Balti, the food here is the best Indian food for miles around, always busy so need to book Fridays and Saturdays, service is always with a smile and quick no matter how many of us there are, can highly recommend. Bring your beer makes it a good cheap eat.

We go here all the time never had a bad curry the pickle tray is the best ever. We tried the raji in golcar the other week as we use to go there but after going to meltham balti will never return again. Lovely service and people we have been to curry houses Birmingham London Bradford and meltham balti is still the best
