Melody's in Portsmouth

Had a lovely brunch, with my family, at Melodys today. Portion sizes were very generous, and the food was delicious. So nice to see a genuine independent cafe, still run by a local person who cares for her community.

What an awful unwelcoming place. Very rude service so we turned round and walked out and went somewhere more welcoming. I've never been to a cafe with a more ignorant server and bearing in mind the lovely other choices available in Southsea I won't be bothering with this terrible place on any of my many trips to spend time in lovely Southsea. It's a blight on this lovely town.

Melody prepared high tea boxes for our W.I. Afternoon tea. In each box was a selection of sandwiches, savouries like sausage rolls, scotch eggs, mini quiche and cocktail sausages. There was also a fresh cream eclair, some delicious Victoria sponge and a scone with jam and clotted cream. Some members shared a box, others managed the whole lot. All the food was delicious and freshly made. We would definitely use Melody’s again.

Recovery swim club had an event and used Melody's services. Very good quality. Loveky spread, Very much recommend for events ans functions

Really friendly and welcoming staff who served a great lunch. Will go back and reccomend. Also a great place for a coffee and snack. Was surprised at the low costs

I recently moved house and do not have a working kitchen so I am having to eat out a lot. Melody’s cafe is down the road from me and I have bought lunch here a couple of times since the move. The food has been incredible and tastes fresh. The staff are wonderful, they have provided me with 5* customer service so far. I am really impressed and would 100% recommend!

I ordered the Savoury Mixed Platter today for my sons 17th birthday (23/2/21) for four of us, as all stuck indoors due to ‘lockdown’.It was lovely & so much better than I could have expected. Lots of it, great selection of sandwiches, savoury bites, sausages rolls and bhajis etc. All good quality ingredients and fresh. Melody delivered it & supplied plates & napkins at no extra cost.I asked for no tomatoes and that was not a problem.Reliable and fantastic value for money. Would definitely recommend and order from her again.

He estado en Melody's varias veces y su café con leche de avena es mejor que el de las grandes cadenas. Hablando con Melody, ella sabe lo que hace sobre el café y claramente se trata de brindar un excelente servicio y excelente comida al cliente. We had some afternoon tea boxes for my mum's birthday get together. 8 of us in the garden with individual boxes. Scrumptious sandwiches, sausage roll, sausage, scone and delicious jam (and cream). Highly recommend!

Highly recommend Melodys catering service. She assured that my dads party buffet was stress free, her honest approach to suggestions of menu choices and budget was met. Cannot go wrong with Melody's, the breakfast + tea/coffee deal is affordable and of great quality. The servers are always polite and bubbly, and happy to modify our order to suit dairy intolerances. Its become our go-to for breakfast!

Nuestra estancia en Southsea / Portsmouth fue de 7 días y después de parar en Melody's para tomar un té y un pastel el primer día, encontramos que el servicio era tan bueno que volvimos otras tres veces, dos veces para el desayuno. Encontramos que la comida era excelente y buenas raciones para el desayuno a precios razonables.Melody y el personal fueron amables y eficientes. No dudaremos en regresar en futuras visitas a Southsea.

Having had breakfast here several times I have to say the breakfast is outstanding always freshly prepared and severed with happy friendly staff ,I decided to use there catering service for my partners surprise birthday bash ,wow the buffet was outstanding so much food and choice all delivered with plenty of time for it to be displayed,Melody’s is the best breakfast and catering service by far

Absolutely lovely place. Staff always friendly and polite, good choice of home cooked food freshly prepared, good range of cakes. Also do excellent catering for outside events. Would definitely recommend.

El mosaico de estilo Metro lo dice todo. Es un café para gente apurada de la ciudad en un concurrido Albert Road, frente a uno de los mejores locales de música de Portsmouth. Melody’s le ofrecerá una buena variedad de alimentos, desde café con bocadillos, para cuando esté en movimiento. O una comida de consuelo adecuada salpicada de sonrisas y cuidado. Y si pides el tesoro que buscas, recibirás. Un sobre dorado con una pista especial en su interior, pero date prisa, ¡es solo por un corto tiempo!

Agradable y barato todo lo que puedas comer chino. La sección de postres se encuentra en la parte trasera de la habitación, que también está incluida en el precio.

Popped in here whilst on a wander down the Albert Rd as we'd not tried it before. We ordered from the breakfasts, one full English, one scrambled eggs, both were delicious and as a bonus the toast was made from 'proper bread'. Very clean and the staff were really friendly, we appreciated the table service. Great value too. We'll definitely be back

Mel catered a fully vegetarian buffet at our request. The food was incredibly fresh, beautifully presented and absolutely delicious. Our wedding guests raved about the amazing buffet. We can't recommend Mel highly enough. Thank you so much! Lucy & Amy x

Had a wonderful baguette here. Fresh bread and the ingredients were very tasty loved the jalapenos I was able to add made it extra special.

I would highly recommend Melodies for a catering event. She provided an excellent afternoon tea style buffet with a great variety of sandwiches, scones and cakes. All the food was freshly prepared, with some extra details which made the buffet more special. We were thrilled with the food and many of our guests commented on how lovely the food was.

My friend and I visited Melodies this morning for breakfast, not only was the service exceptional and everyone was so friendly but the breakfast was AMAZING. Everything was really fresh and only cost £6- absolute bargain for your money.

Great cafe, yummy food, very reasonable prices and super friendly people. What more could you want?! This place deserves to be much busier, but maybe people just don’t know about it, because we didn’t.

Fui a la melodía para ver si ella podía hacer una variedad de sándwiches y tartas para una merienda del día de San Valentín para mi novio. Melody organizó los pasteles y los sándwiches a la perfección en un maravilloso plato de tarta como en un restaurante. Fantastic service and food from Melody and her team. Buffet was delicious, prices were super and she threw in extras which were much appreciated. Food delivered on time, fresh and well presented. Cannot fault anything or recommend her highly enough!5 stars!

Nos acercamos a Melody para pedirle que ofreciera un buffet para una velada, ya que habíamos escuchado cosas muy buenas de amigos que habían utilizado sus servicios de catering. Un pequeño lugar maravilloso que vale la pena visitar.

Este es un pequeño restaurante frente a las famosas Wedgewood Rooms. (¡Donde celebramos la recepción de nuestra boda hace 32 años!) La cafetería está limpia y tiene un personal amable. Hay una buena variedad de alimentos y la dueña se complace en servir lo que sea que pidas siempre y cuando lo tenga en su cocina. Hay un baño para que los clientes usen.

Apareció aquí con un amigo en una lluviosa tarde de sábado buscando un almuerzo ligero. El servicio fue amable y muy eficiente. Pedí una papa chaqueta con tocino y queso con una taza de té. Mi orden llegó puntualmente y se sirvió caliente. La papa estaba perfectamente preparada con una gran cantidad de relleno. Mi amigo también disfrutó de su baguette de salchichas y ambos sentimos que tenemos una gran relación calidad-precio. La única decepción fue el hecho de que era tan tranquilo como el lugar merece ser mucho más concurrido. Sin duda volveremos aquí si estoy en la zona.

Melody's catered for Sub Aqua Club Christmas party, the food was delicious and had good vegetarian options. The service was great and they were very helpful both on the night and organising beforehand. Would definitely recommend.

It wasn't busy but I guess catering orders/deliveries were being prepped. The cafe was empty besides us so a little disappointing. Service was okay and food was average.

I asked Melody to cater for my daughter's christening celebration party. Melody turned up on time with beautifully made food. The fingers sandwiches were fresh and very tasty, the freshly baked scones just heavenly with the clotted cream and jam. The selection of cakes gorgeous and tasty. All the guests were happy and had plenty to eat. I would definitely recommend Melody for any catering needs. Very good value for money!

We came across this little gem while looking for somewhere to get a bacon roll in Albert road ! Not an easy task. The staff were helpful & their is a good choice on the menu. The portions were great & the food delicious. The seating area is light, spacious with modern decor. The prices are reasonable & the little extras like homemade balsamic dressing make this place standout.

Mel prepared pulled pork and lamb with freshly baked baguettes. All served with home made mint sauce and barbeque sauce as well as potato salad and coleslaw. Excellent food for ypth birthday party. Thanks Mel.

I happened across Melody's while killing time and thinking about breakfast and I'm delighted to have done so. Great breakfast served in an open, friendly atmosphere by staff who care about both what they do and their local area. Highly recommended :)

Melody y su equipo hicieron un extraordinario buffet dedo para nuestro grupo reciente. Ayuda me los dieron con la variedad de comida, horarios, etc., todo muy servicial cuando hay mucho que organizar. Por la noche las mesas estaban muy bien preparados, con manteles, etc, y la comida llegó, todo embargado y distribuida en fuentes! Había algo para tentar el paladar de todos los huéspedes 90, independientemente de su edad. Se hicieron observaciones sobre innumerables la comida (todo bueno) y no dudaría en recomendar a cualquiera que necesite de Melody catering.

Fuimos después de leer acerca de la oferta de comida en la ventana. Tuve baguette, bebida y pastel. Baguette era fresco y crujiente. Tarta era para morirse! Personal amable y feliz y el propietario (Melody) es una señora encantadora. Muy bien llevado, muy limpio. Sin duda volveremos de nuevo! !

I often drop in for lovely fresh sandwiches with a choice of many fillings - the tuna is my favourite. The home baked cakes are also well worth a try - I do, especially the bread and butter pudding and staff are very helpful and good fun.

We ordered a buffet lunch for a staff training event. Melody's were very accommodating with the selection of food and we were able to tailor it to our requirements. The food was delivered on time and freshly made with a lovely selection of sandwiches, mini sausages, quiche, cheddar puffs, sausage rolls, onion bhajis and pakoras and a selection of cakes. All the staff were very complementary and I wouldn't hesitate to use Melody's again!

Taking some friends from Southend for a mooch around Albert Road we happened upon this cafe and were so pleased we did. Excellent friendly service, great value, fastidiously clean (including the loo) and great, cheap really fresh food - My friends were so impressed... I will return !

My Husband and I were recommended Melody's catering service for our recent 50th birthday party.We were very impressed by the service,professionalism and quality of the food.There was a good choice which included a vegetarian selection as well.We had many compliments on the night and would definitely recommend and use Melody's again.

After a busy today we decided to pick up a late lunch so we gave melody's a try for the 1st time.well I'm glad we did the chicken tikka was really tasty and the baguette was fresh and crusty.went for the meal deal which was a reasonable price and we also received great customer service.despite being no chicken tikka baguettes made up the server didn't hesitate to go and make us some fresh ones.will definitely be returning gonna give the garlic chicken a try next time.

Melody catered for 60 people at our Ruby Anniversary, the food was very tasty and plentiful. We chose menu b which was a selection of traditional food and Indian food, there are plenty of choices so something for everyone. Mel and staff then came along to the venue and set all the food up, after that they then offered to cover other tables in the hall with the rest of the paper they used for the food tables, how lovely is that?? So to wrap it up....food excellent, service excellent, thank you very much Mel and team

Well, what can I say. The staff are always friendly and helpful, the food is superior to anything in Portsmouth. Mel the owner made a birthday cake for us in 2 hours when we had a major problem. What a fantastic cake and fantastic service. Will be returning when ever I am in the area.

Mel provided the food for my father in laws wake. Delicious sandwiches, wide variety of fillings. Nibbles to tempt any appetite and a wonderful range if cakes. Just what we needed after the service. Mel and her team, couldn't do enough for us, catered for a range of allergies and food preferences. Food was fresh, tasty and lots if wonderful compliments. Thank you .

Melody's is a friendly warm business with excellent food and drink . My mum is disabled and in a wheelchair and they always find time to help and give their time to make sure we are ok . The food is top rate , Mel even offers food which is not on the menu and cooks it there and then , you wouldn't get that service any where else . Will be going back again and again . Had a beef salad roll, supposedly fresh, and when i got back to work, i looked at the roll more closely to find the salad was limp with black spots on the lettuce and dry edges on both the tomatoes and cucumber, the roll was stale and the beef dry, clearly yesterdays food, a real shame as im loath to spend my money in the subway 4 doors down. there good people but sadly the food has slipped !massive let down

Great food. Plenty of it and at half the price the venue was offering! All the guests commented on the lovely ploughmans. No fuss service an payment. Melody was nice to deal with and I really liked her easygoing approach.

Went to Melodys for this special lunch. The Haggis, neaps and tatties were served hot with a delicious gravy. The meal was just what we needed for a miserable January day. Followed by delicious coffee, we, were, sadly, too full for the tasty looking cakes and puddings on offer. Will definitely return.

Terrible customer service. had to call twice to chase delivery order. Rude on the phone and at delivery point. Customer service skills need work. Could have been recurring business however have chosen to go elsewhere.

Melody's sent a lovely selection of homemade quiches and other delicious salads and platters. The cakes, which we served to our meeting at tea time were excellent! Also, we had some specific dietary requirements - none of which were too much trouble for Melody's.

I have been to a lot of café in my life. When going to Rome for the first time I absolutely loved how they prepared their food.I have to say at Melody's it reminded me of that. We didn't have anything adventurous however what we did have was lovely and I would recommend for anyone to try.The staff in there are lovely and friendly and have a good rapport with the local community.Choosing for somewhere to go down Albert Road is difficult and I will definitely be returning to Melody's!Thanks!

The brides breakfast that Melody did prior to my daughter's wedding was superb, beautifully presented with a wonderful selection of filled mini croissants - a wonderful start to her special day..

What a delightful feeling you get walking in to a bright, clean and well presented cafe. The service is prompt and efficient with nothing too much for them. Food is varied and reasonably priced. Sets a high standard for others to follow.

One is hard pressed to choose between the variety of food on offer. Everything is fresh & tempting. The staff are very pleasing & Melody is delightful. I highly recommend the filled mini croissants...if there are any left !!!!

Was looking for a sponge cake for one of my residents birthday at a residential home that I work in and could not find anything that wasn't just chocolate down elm grove or Albert road, was in a rush to get a cake and my dad suggested melody's as he goes there nearly everyday and claims that they do the best food and the staff are really friendly. I went in and explained that I was looking for a sponge cake for one of my residents birthday that could feed 13 people, melody explained that she would decorate it and deliver it to the care home by 12 (45 minutes later), the staff could not have been any more helpful and friendly, it was delivered by a man who was also very friendly and the presentation was beautiful I wish I had taken a picture, all of them loved the cake and commented on how fresh it tasted, they truly played a role in making a wonderful mans birthday treasurable and I could not thank them enough! Would highly recommend this place, again thank you!xx

There is an abundance of choice for coffee shops along Albert Road in Southsea from the basic to the pretentious - but Melody's hits the spot when it comes to all round quality and value for money.You are always greeted with a warm welcome, proper coffee, a wonderful range of hot and cold snacks (made on the premises), all in a spotlessly clean and bright surrounding. Special mention must go to the owner - Melody - with her bubbly, engaging and yet professional style. I'd highly recommend Melody's and the team. :-)

I have had healthy Chicken Salad and a smoothie one week, then last week Jacket potato, with baked beans and coleslaw, after,s a gorgeous Bread & butter pudding with lemon curd. mmmm. Really good value for money.Also had a buffet for a charity night, really nicely presented ploughman's for 75, would recommend.
