Lovely little spot next to the canal tow path with easy parking. Good range on the menu and nice outdoor but covered seating options. However it definitely feels like your classic captive audience cafe, being that there are few other options nearby. We had a brie, chutney and bacon panini (around £9) and a bacon bap with added sausage (also around the £9 mark). The food was hot and tasted good but for £9 somethings felt lacking. The bacon fat wasn't trimmed, there was no kind of garnish and for close to a tenner I'd expect a better quality bread roll. In truth, it looked like something you might find in a lay by than in a cute cafe, but it did taste good and both bacon and sausages were good quality. Similarly, the brie was good and the panini was tasty. I think small touches could hugely elevate the offerings to reflect the cost, as our two sandwiches and two coffees cost £22, which seems a lot.

The cafe is just next to the canal and if you are lucky you might see someone using the locks which are just a few yards away. There are some outdoor, some covered and some indoor tables. The staff were really friendly; the food is simple cafe fair but very nice, I had a slice of Victoria sponge cake which was delicious! A great little cafe in a lovely spot, I could happily have spent the whole day relaxing there by the water!

Visited here last weekend with some girlfriends to try their grazing platters. We had a real good selection of platters & they did not disappoint: presentation was great and they were all really tasty especially the whipped feta & honey, so delicious. Really pretty tranquil location with friendly tentative staff. Will definitely come again as thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

Googled tea rooms with parking. Looked promising. Fantastic outlook over the canal. Waited a while to be served, no hello, no smile. Bearing in mind it was only 2.30pm, tea room serving afternoon teas etc. No scones available, very limited selection of cakes. Opted for toasted teacakes, last 2 as it turned out, the customer afterwards was left disappointed too. When it came to the table, the butter was so hard, totally unspreadable. I asked for some softer butter, to be told that was all they had and the lady opened the packets and just squashed it onto a saucer. Best part of the visit was the entertainment supplied by the local sparrows

Lovely location but felt the evening platters had been misold. Ours was nothing like the facebook advertisement and also was missing things that were listed on the menu. ( this was a pre order too so really no excuse) Service was very slow, had to go into to ask for drinks and table was left uncleared for ages. Would pop in for a takeaway icecream or drink but think there are far better places for an evening out, that are also better vaule.

I’ve now been here twice. The first time we had to wait over an hour for a sandwich and the second time, which was over a year later, we waited 45 minutes for a scone and pot of tea. What makes this worse is that the quality of the food just doesn’t justify this crazy wait or the high prices.

What a gem! A good dog walk along the canal to the tea room. Really accommodating for our dogs (dog cakes as a treat for all three), good food, superb, friendly service and thundering good hot, hot chocolate. What more could you want? They even serve alcohol if you are that way inclined. Sandwiches, paninis, jacket potatoes and more, and the cakes looked scrumptious!

Just returned from a lovely walk (2/9/20) by the canal and a great Gluten Free stop at the Tea rooms. We are fortunate to live near these tea rooms, and they always have a fantastic range of gluten free options both sweet and savoury. The milkshakes are a great addition on a warm day, coupled with beautiful scenery. The one way system is set up perfectly for the current situation and they have done well to adapt, probably one of the best we have seen.

Just back from a walk along the canal and called in for a snack. The sausage roll was one of the best I have had and my husband loved his pasty. The coffee wasn't bad either! The cakes looked very tempting but we didn't have room! Perhaps next time. The detail to safety was first class and there was plenty of room around the grounds and canal bank.

Love this place, they started doing take away’’s in June all in accordance with government guidelines with a well sign posted one way system, social distancing waiting area and well organised food handover routine. Once you have your food/drinks etc you can use the lock side grass and seats of the canal lock. Now that cafe’s are open they have created a safe seating area on their grounds.Called by during a leisurely cycle ride and enjoyed a fantastic brownie sundae with crumbly yet gooey brownie, chocolate, vanilla and salted caramel ice cream, toffee sauce, marshmallow and squirty cream. Absolutely yum, perfect for sharing, couldn’t eat a whole one.

called in for a tea & light bite today. should have realised there was a problem with heating as the staff were wearing scarves. We ordered our food & drink, took a seat, partner was served a good while before me, no tea just an egg roll, then came the rest of the order, teacake was so cold the butter didn't melt at all, tea so so. While we were eating, drilling started, on a wall next to the kitchen,is this hygienic? i understand works have to be carried out but there was no indication or staff didn't inform us it would be noisy as we made our order, . we would not return.

We had two teas and cake here. I went to use the toilet after having tea and cake to discover all of them were out of order. When I asked a staff member if they had a toilet I could use she said no we don’t even have one for us.I asked if there was one any where near she just shrugged and said no. It’s a long way back to Taunton wanting the loo. I said maybe you should tell people before they order a drink that there is no toilet available. The staff were unfriendly and I wouldn’t go back. I thought if you had indoor seating and sold drinks and food you had to have a toilet or one near for customers to use. And I would think you have to have one for staff. Obviously not the case. I’ll ask next time before ordering a drink.

The coke arrived....but no milkshake even though ordered?..then it took 40 minutes for the sandwiches which were £6 quid for slightly stale bread, slightly gone of crisps and small salad without dressing really? £6 quid for a sandwich!...overpriced for what you get. No need to charge more than £4:50 really. Scrappy service and overpriced food. Looked on the menu Cream Tea for two £9....yet again overpriced, thats two scones and small pot of jam and small cream and small pot of tea....go for a walk along the canal but avoid the cafe. Today I have had the most delicious stem ginger cake followed by an apple cake. The apple cake was warmed and served with clotted cream, and every mouthful was a mixture of apple-y caramelized flavors and luxurious clotted cream – exquisite. The tea rooms are 20 meters from a free rustic car park, and next to the beautiful Taunton to Bridgewater canal. Walks around here abound and I think I will try and do some more. This place is absolutely recommended. I liked the conservatory (there is an outdoor area too) and reading the country file magazines which were there.

I've used this tearoom a couple of times during my walks along the canal. It's a lovely and pleasant find and certainly needed if you are walking long distance. I was walking to Taunton so definitely needed a break here. Ideal for both walkers and cyclists. The cakes are fresh and tempting that go well with a nice brew or soft drink. They also serve light lunches. It was a gorgeous sunny day and they were selling ice-cream which was lovely. I've received good service there and do not have any dietary needs so therefore this place catered for my needs. There are also toilets nearby. You get a lovely view of the canal and little cottages. However,I have visited three times in the last 12 months and never once have they had anything gluten free. When challenged confusing answers,on the one hand told they do not stock it as low demand for it, on the other if we stock a GF cake everyone buys it because it is so good so it sells out!! Further to my last review where we had delicious soup, on the second visit a couple of weeks later we found that the price had increased from £3.75 to £4.80 That is a huge increase of over 25% way above inflation and a smaller portion. I went out of my way to visit this tea room, but will not be doing it again as in my opinion they have priced there selves out of the market. 2 soups 2 drinks and 2 pieces of mediocre cake well over £20. Love to walk along the canals n this one in particular. Occasion arose to visit when a super family member visited with her beloved Rottweiler. A walk along the canal in spring sunshine was ideal so off we set. Altho' I'd turned on the cooker on leaving, decided to have lunch in this delightful spot. We ordered toasties n coffee n the former came with crisps m salad - looked delectable. However, having consumed crisps n toast is n started on salad only to discover dark green slime nestling in the leaves - quite, quite horrid. When I remonstrated with, presumably, management- I was thanked for bringing it to notice but no apology was forthcoming. Will be a while before I trust again n any food, if ever bought which is unlikely at the mo, will be inspected quite thoroughly. Certainly never leaves ever again here...unpleasant memories..

We don't live far from Maunsel Lock but had never heard of the place until about a week ago! The staff in the tearooms are very friendly and accommodating and we our enjoyed coffee, cakes and toasted tea cakes before going off on our canal trip. The pace is slow, time to enjoy the sighting of swans, ducks and moorhens and to watch the dragon flies on the water.

We stumbled across these tea rooms by accident. We like to stroll along canals wherever we are and saw signs for the canal centre on the Taunton-Bridgwater canal. Staff here were very friendly and helpful. They even rushed out with a bowl of water for our dog, and that was before we had placed an order. Very pleasant setting and a good number of picnic tables outside as well as an inside area. Always a good indicator was that the toilets were nice and clean. We would stop here again if in the area.

This is the loveliest of historic houses and a charming setting for a celebration. We had been to a private dinner here with a disco afterwards but didn't stay overnight. The house was warm and welcoming, the food delicious, the staff polite and helpful and we had a lovely evening. There are cosy places to sit and talk quietly, if one turn on the dance floor is sufficient (which it invariably is for my husband!). No immediate neighbours to offend if partying gets rather noisy and the grounds are simply laid out (so you won't trip over too many urns) and delightful. The charming (exquisitely dressed) eccentric owner is usually about too and enjoys his house with its guests. Highly recommended.

I would urge anyone who walks the Bridgwater-Taunton canal to call in here! The location is gorgeous (near North Newton, just 10mins off J24 M5 vie North Petherton )and these tea-rooms are a great find - light lunches only but the cakes are ace, the staff very friendly snd you're helping support the canal charity at the same time - if you don't go it just means more cakes for me!

We have been to these delightful tearooms on several occasions and have always been very pleased we did. The location is superb and very soothing next to the canal. The food is fresh and tasty although I would like to see a little more variety for lunches. The staff are very nice and jolly and all in all it is a very pleasant experience.

Excellent food and lovely building! We came here as part of a trip to Cheddar for my partners 40th, glad I trusted the reviews and chose The Bath Arms. I had the mushroom and celeriac strudel which was delicious and different from the usual veggie options you see elsewhere. My partner had the steak pie, which he said was very good and filled up with meat. The chips he had also looked incredible! All in all, a very nice birthday meal!

I’m so happy to see this pub supporting the LGTVHD+ community!! I was having a meal here recently and the chirpy chef with the fish tattoos was wearing a pride hat, so courageous to be walking around your place of work so openly!! Massive respect for the place being so supportive, will certainly visit again!!
