Family visited for Easter holiday weekend And I take them to a indian and Bangladeshi restaurant in maryport To treat them in a Award winning restaurant they said that it was a best Indian food they ever had it was a best service and compliment to the chef and to the owner of the restaurant 😋 👌 😀

Sorry....not impressed. Meat was fine but the sauce was just like slop... little substance or any distinct taste.....

First visit to maryport Tandoori booked a table for 6 pm, arrived at 5.45, and made very welcome. Ordered drinks and was shown to our table. Can't fault the service very polite and courteous. The meal was excellent, the best chicken korma I've had in a long time. The only let down was there, Peshwari Nan. Honestly, I have had better with more ingredients added.

What a fabulous place, this is our second visit with family. The welcome was warm and friendly, we were made to feel really special by Ali and his dedicated team you are all amazing. The restaurant has a lovely ambience it is beautifully clean and comfortable. The food is the nicest Indian food I've had since being back in West Cumbria . Everything was lovely and fresh and tasted like it was meant to, the vegetarian options were fantastic, we can't wait to go again soon and I can't recommend it highly enough.

It was Saturday night 13th of January we went to Maryport tandoori for a meal the restaurant was extremely busy inside and takeaway sides it was a little wait to be honest the food was amazing best curry we ever had we travel all over the country and this was one of the best 😍 the table was next to our table they put a nonsense review I wouldn’t do that when the dishes was empty plates were wiped if your expect free meal just ask we sit on table no 7 and they sit on table 8 me and my partner saw every thing what they planned Maryport tandoori is awarded few times they won the biggest award in the country and nominated again best restaurant of the year 2024 good luck to the owner man he is very friendly to all his customers my request please don’t put negative reviews when enjoying your food we have seen it thank you all 🥣🥣🥣🥣🥣

Very poor. Wanted to visit the restaurant due to the apparent nominations this restaurant has received and on recommendation of a friend. Had to wait 1 hr 30 mins for table and then packed into a small table elbow to elbow with other customers. Pickle tray was dreadful. Raw cut up onions and a watery mango sauce. Veg Samosa tasted store bought and lacked any flavour. Ordered two mains off the chef signature dishes, not good. Both had far too much oil and lacked any flavour. The rice was the only thing authentic we ate. I’ve never developed stomach ache while eating the meal. I regret paying for it without voicing my concerns but felt so ill I just wanted to leave.

We staying over a caravan park and were on the look out for some delicious food after a long 300+ miles of journey. Found this one pretty close to our place so without a second thought we rushed as it was already 9pm and most of the restaurants were closed or about to. We got a warm welcome, they even told Kitchen closes 9:45 but we would wait till you enjoy your meal which is so kind of them. We ordered some tandoori king prawns, tandoori chicken and hara bhara kebab. Tabdoori’s were so delicious but not too much happy with hara bhara kebab as to me it was like omelette(never seen this before). For the mains we did some kulcha naan, garlic naan, chef’s special shylet chicken and chicken mosala and bhindi masala,they were all soo good specially the shylet chicken given with boiled egg. I would definitely recommend to someone at Maryport or near maryport and do try there kulcha naan that was awesome and for four people it was just £96 which I say it is cheap.

On arriving without a booking, at 17.30 with a party of 6! we were welcomed even though they were fully booked from 7pm the staff were so helpful and friendly. The food was delicious the spice wasn't overpowering from the sauce the chilli's just added to the flavour of the dish, I would definitely recommend thank you.

The best Indian restaurant in Cumbrian and perhaps the UK. Service was excellent from the moment we walked in until we left. I am disabled and use a walking stick, so hubby drove the car up to the door. A lovely member of staff went and opened the car door for me. Little touches like that make you want to go back. And now the food...wow and another wow. Plentiful and absolutely delicious. Staff checked that everything was OK a couple of times. There were four of us and we all agreed that the food was brilliant and that we'd definitely be returning. Thank you.

Incredibly disappointing. Please be aware it is cash only. We were on holiday for a special occasion and looking for somewhere to eat out for a milestone birthday. We spotted this tandoori whilst out on our first day and noticed they were closed for a few days due to award nominations. Reviewing them online, fab reviews, award winning in the past. We never had a bad experience at an Indian restaurant so it seemed a sure bet for a good night. How wrong we were and we really paid for it too!!! Our booking was a Wednesday evening at 7pm for 7 people. The restaurant is crammed in, our table was right behind the door where take away collectors congregated and little room to the window tables, making it difficult for servers to get past. A table of 6 were seated next to us but it was so close we may as well have been dining together. Service for taking order and receiving drinks was quick but getting the food was incredibly slow, 40 minutes for starters. It was all very fraught and stressy amongst the staff. We asked for a jug of water for the table 3 times but didn't get it so in the end i ordered a £2.50 still water expecting it to be a large bottle but it was a small highland spring. It was poured into a glass with ice, which we didn't want, on stating this a fresh glass was fetched and the water poured from one to another. The cobra beer was flat, the drink wasn't finished and bottle beer ordered instead. As for the food. Popadoms were a bit soft, tasting a bit stale really. Everyone was happy with starters, I didn't have one as at point of ordering was not hungry (after such a wait i dipped in to my sons prawn puri which was nice). I had one of the specialty mains which was incredibly salty and most oily dish i ever had. The saag mains were very dry. Jalfrezi had red peppers, no chillis and was wetter than we have had before. Only one in the party enjoyed the meal. The after eights given with the bill had white marks on the chocolate so either out of date or had been in hot environment. 4 of the party were very ill the next day with food poisoning (sickness, diarrhoea and sweats). Not the end to the holiday we wanted. If we were local, we definitely would not recommend or attend again.

I was on holiday camping and I thought I’d give this place a try and order a takeaway. In my experience Indian Restaurants in tourist areas are not that good and takeaways never seem as nice than when eating in. I ordered a Naan, madras’s, rice and onion bhajis. They were all spot on in terms of flavours and by far one of the best meals I’ve had. The curry could have done with less oil apart from that everything tasted fresh. The Service was seamless from taking the order, having it ready as scheduled and being welcomed into a lovely warm atmosphere. Thank you again

We were visiting the area and after reading all the reviews, and paying over £30 for 2 curry's 2 rice's and 1 naan, we were looking forward to a fantastic takeaway. The rice and naan were very nice but the Curry's were not up to scratch. They did not taste freshly prepared and I am fairly sure the chicken was pre diced, pre cooked, it tasted as if it had been soaking in brine. The sauce was also extremely salty with a strange aftertaste. We were very hungry but ate less than half of the Curry's. We have no axe to grind with this establishment, and with all the good reviews, I can only think that the food in the restaurant is of a different quality. Very disappointed !

Well deserving of his recent award, Ali and his team are very welcoming and even fit us in last minute on Fri night; early though so plenty of space, staff are attentive and friendly. It can get a bit busy and seem a bit congested if your seated by the door as takeaway collections are constant, but if your looking into the eyes of your loved one or engaging in conversation at your table it shouldn't bother you too much. Good location with handy parking across the road. We had pre-booked for a group of 6, the restaurant was busy when we arrived and waited just a couple of minutes to be seated. Fantastic and friendly service from the staff. A very good menu selection. The food itself was delicious with big portions. Service was quick and efficient. Will definitely return in the future.

Well what can I say, my wife and I have lived in Cumbria ( from london) for 9 years. WHY Didn't we come here sooner. By far the best food I have eaten in many years.
