Much improved since my previous visit many years ago, and I understand it is under new ownership. The takeaway food was really nice, however the staff were really unfriendly and unengaging - barely even a thanks when I left. I'll be back, but they really need to work on their customer service skills!

Went in for a meal for my friends birthday. Granted there had been a few in but everyone left had already eaten. We ordered our starter and main course, and waited. Waited some more and then waited. The service was terrible. Food which is usually good, was far from the usual standard. Varied across the dishes in terms of temperature and taste. Naan breads were pale and greasy. Rice flat and congealed. Girl behind bar spent most of her time leaning over the counter. No atmosphere st all. Waited not interested. Place looked like it could do with a good clean. This USED to be the best Indian in the local area. Now? AVOID!!!!

My husband and I have been going to Lazeez for a number of years on and off. The food is really, really good. It's just a shame that very often (as per some previous reviews) the staff are very bad! It's true that the restaurant has very little atmosphere, but it's quite smart. We have encountered one or two nice staff but it is hit or miss, I really wish they could get some continuity with the staff as it lets them down badly. Having said that we still go back as the food is really good!

First off the food was excellent - four of us with a variety of starters and mains, vegetarian and non-vegetarian optionsNO alcohol licence, despite what it says on the window... but Spa is just across the rosd and you can bring your ownDecor is spartan... not a lot of atmospereWe would have put up with that because of the good, reasonably priced food - but the service was idiosyncratic to say the least. No welcome, had to get our own menus, generally disinterested attitude. We tried to engage with the waiter... perhaps he was having a bad day... but he was having none of it. A shame.

We've been several times and booked for an anniversary meal. Arrived to find no table ready. Table laid then got moved again. Finally order taken and food arrived. Good as expected. Tried to order dessert, several members of staff (young and enthusiastic) involved. Majority of desserts listed not available. Very convoluted discussions! Coconut Ice cream when it arrived was crystalline in parts! Very disappointing. Never did get an answer whether the liqueur coffee listed was available. A great shame that the starter and main course food was let down by the service and ordering. Yes we'll probably go again, but with slight apprehension!

We don't often have curries as I tend to make my own however when we do we normally use the Lazeez. However the last two meals we have had have been dreadful. There isn't any particular element that is wrong it is just all wrong, colour flavour greasy and with an odd taste. We both ended up binning most of the last meal swearing never to go back. It's s real shame as before the last change of ownership it's was a very good takeaway buy low it's really hit the bottom of the ladder and I think many of the recent posts echo this. Back to making my own again I think we won't be back which is a shame as we like to support local businesses rather than travel and go further afield.

I have eaten at Lazeez for several years and always found it one of the better indian restaurants in the area, until tonight when I was basically treated as terrible inconvenience by one of their newer members of staff. When i want a couple of Naan breads, as I have in the past I just pop my head round the door, as for them and then pop back ten minutes later or wait until they are ready and then pay for them and leave. When I send my son around to pick up a couple I do not expect the the jobsworth little pipsqueak serving to tell him that he has to go home and place a telephone order and then come back to collect them. What level of stupid is this? I would recommend going anywhere other than Lazeez now if you wish to be treated as a customer and not as an inconvenience to someone more intent on updating their facebook instead of working

Booked a table at lazeez with family, have been to this restaurant many times before and has been superb!! However not the story last night... The four of us arrived on time at 7pm, seated at our table and looked at the menu, we sat invisably for a very long time without even been offered a drink, we even considered ringing up for a takeaway and asking them to send it too the table by the window! At 7.45 the waiter finally came over to take our orders and we asked if we could possible have a drink and a bottle opener as u are able to take in your own alcoholic beverages, again we seamed to wait a long time, in true wigton spirit fellow diners offered us use of their bottle openers and spare glasses! Eventually the waiter brought over some drinks which kept the dehydration at bay while we had the never ending wait for some food, popadoms arrived and we savoured every bite for the long wait ahead.. We even contemplated hovering around other tables to catch any crumbs of their left overs to keep us going. When our food eventually arrived the order was wrong, we ordered 2 chicken kormas and 2 chicken merkhanis, what arrived i cant even describe, the only thing we could describe them as were possible the left overs we were considering eating earlier mixed in a bright orange sauce with chedder cheese on too.. Strange looking korma! We said to the waiters there must be a mistake they rudely had a conversation with each other in indian then told us this is what we had ordered, we told them again what we had ordered and they insisted this horrible looking dish was a korma, nervously we tasted the sauce and was inedible.. No resemblance to a korma, at this point from advice from fellow diners we stood up and left wishing we had taking the family naan with us which was the only thing that looked edible, a horrible expirience ending up in a last minute drink in the nearest pub to get other it on an empty stomach and a kebab at the end of the night!

We took our own drinks with us which was a plus factor as they do not hold a licence. The menu was quite different to other restaurants with lots of dishes I had never heard of. The poppadums and pickles were fresh and the mixed tikka starter was superb and a huge portion. Service was timed just right and the staff were chatty and freindly. We went for a family meal for a birthday last night. We are so local that we have frequent takeaways and occaisional meals in. I have never been made to feel so uncomfortable by the service. We were shown to a table and our order taken quickly..no smile just hurried. Our daughter has autism and the reason we go there is because she spins on one of the chairs used for takeout customers, it's her way of coping with noise, people, smells. Last night she was removed 3 times from the chair. She was stared at in such a disapproving way by a customer on next table so frequently that I just wanted the ground to open up. Meals delivered again hurriedly, I was too stressed to eat much. Food quality isn't what it was. After yet another visit outside with my daughter...we came back in and although they gave her a free ice cream, which she gratefully ate, we paid the bill and left. Sorry Lazeez, you are so local, we have had many nice meals there, but you are not child friendly anymore and your food quality has gone downhill. We will be using Mango tree from now on.

I first went to Lazeez, a few years back when I moved to Wigton. At the time the food was delicious, the service excellent and the prices reasonable. Fast forward to yesterday...The restaurant has been in the hands of another owner for a while now, so we decided to give it a go, and ordered a takeaway. We were duly told it would be 20 minutes. 25 minutes later i wandered in and was asked to wait for 5 minutes - no biggie just the grim prospect of sitting in a tired, atmosphere less room listening to the waiter trying to force another naan bread on to a table of customers. Starters - veg pakora. To be honest, despite being stone cold they were quite tasty. The selection of salads that went with the popadoms were good. However when asked if we wanted popadoms, we said yes and despite the order clearly being for 2 people we were then given 5 at a cost of 50p each - naughty! Mains consisted of a coconut rice and pasanda for the wife. She appeared to quite enjoy this, however it was incredibly sweet and that then became overriding taste. I had a Chicken tikka Korai and pilau rice. The rice, well it's rice! The chicken Korai had, and no word of a lie, an entire onion simply cut in to quarters, and a whole red pepper cut in to halves. Curry supposed to be a mixture and fusion on spices that is designed to fire the synapses and take you on a taste journey across India and this is where I genuinely feel let down. It tasted of nothing, and I mean absolutely nothing. There was a vague aroma of tikka but then I think that may have been my brain trying to remind me of what it should have tasted like. In panic, I grabbed the cauliflower bhaji desperate to stimulate my taste buds in some way, but once again nothing. For the first time in my 35 years, I had to add salt to a curry. At nearly £30 for two, I feel robbed, cheated and let down. Save your money and go to CO-OP or if you are unfortunate enough to be going for a meal take some salt!!Never ever again will I darken their door, Mango Tree for me...

I think this is one of the best Indian resteraunts in the area, better than most in nearby Carlisle for sure, takeaway or sit in normally hits the spot, theres an excellent selection of mains and sides, the family naan is amazing, if sitting in it comes on a bit metal hook which is fun for the kids and is e ough to feed a family of 4 easily. The currys are tasty and theynwill cook them to your desired heat levels which adds even more variety. The staff are very friendly, and even when its busy they serve with a smile and in good time. Whats alsogreat is they don't serve alcohol but allow you to brinh your own in, but provide openers, glasses and even ice, makes it a very good value night out. Dishes to try are the lazeez naga chilli, the balti exotica and the murghi massla. Must say this place is great and can be amongstbthe best, but every so often you do get a bad one, some experiences I wont even mention, but thats rare and theyndo their best to make up for it so, well worth a look if you like curry and happen to be in town.

I don't usually write reviews, but this was honestly the worst indian i have ever had. I opted for a balti exotica which was watery, and what better to compliment a watery dish than the famous 'el paso' tortillas. Smelling packet fresh it was thinner than air, but the kind of food where you lose calories as you eat. Hoping it was just my meal that wasnt up to scratch, I turned my attentions to my vegan friend who muttered the words "There is a baked potato in my curry" as well as "They've poured tin carrots in my meal". I proceeded to ring up the restaurant to ask why they had given me tortillas, but they denied it and asked which indian restaurants I had eaten at before. So, all in all it was a really bad Indian but quite possibly the best mexican restaurant ever.

Called twice after we were let down by another place, and were given a reservation and confirmed, in 20 minutes time. Drove into Keswick to be told that actually they had big bookings coming in and so they couldn’t seat us and could we wait for a table to finish. Possibly 30-45 minutes. Seems to me that they possibly just gambled on a table becoming free but didn’t care that we might be let down if not. Ended up wandering around Keswick desperately trying to find a table somewhere else, with two hungry kids and a grandma. Deeply unimpressed.
