Lakeland Spice in Allerdale

Had some fantastic curries here last year, so booked in twice for this week, as brilliant as ever! We tried the specials on the specials board, ( how often have you seen a specials board in an Indian Restaurant ?) , a slow cooked Lamb bhuna, a house chicken curry , a chicken tikka masala and a lamb pathia. All absolutely delicious and full of flavour! Excellent attentive and helpful staff, they really go the extra mile. Thank you for a great night, and for remembering us on the second occasion even though you were really busy.

We came here whilst in Keswick and we have been here previously, We prebooked a table and got seated straight away , we had a quick look over the menu and went with poppadoms and pickles , chefs special starter then mains of lamb bhuna and a chicken and mushroom balti with garlic naan. The food was hot and tasty and we were very happy with our choices , the service is great and dishes came out straight after each other, A couple of beers and we were fully stuffed and happy , We will deffo be back next time when in Keswick

We all enjoyed a really good dinner at Lakeland Spice. Excellent service despite the fact that the restaurant was really busy and some staff were off. Shiraz was extremely courteous, hard working and very kindly offered me some great culinary and medical advice by introducing me to Chat Masala! Thank you.

We booked a table for five on Sunday night, having been tempted by the spicy aromas coming from the restaurant as we walked past it the previous evening. I'm so glad that we did as the food, surroundings and atmosphere were all excellent. I really enjoyed my main meal (Koria Masala) as did everyone else with their choices. Lakeland Spice is one of the best Indian Restaurants I've been to in a long time. Friendly staff and ice cold Cobra served in authentic pint glasses all made for a highly enjoyable evening meal.

The food at this restaurant was delicious, I’m not usually a fan of Indian food but it was beautiful, my partner said it’s one of the best curries he’s ever had. Staff were very polite and attentive. I would highly recommend!

We visited here whilst on holiday in the area. We were greeted by friendly staff on our arrival who were attentive throughout our meal. We had delicious food at a reasonable price. The service was very good.

Absolutely outstanding food Presented in a modern way. Staff also outstanding very alert and aware, and it’s Ramadan so stress levels will be high… I am not one to write an outstanding lightly this place is a gem and outside of the big cities

We were on holiday over Easter and decided due to reading the reviews that we would try here. We were not disappointed in fact we have had the best Indian Curry we have had in a long time. Beats our local! The quality and quantity was perfect. Thankyou!

Walked in and was offered a table even though it was very busy they accommodated us with an hour time slot. which was very nice of them and are food was made quickly. The service offered was excellent and they were very nice and friendly. We had a starter and main course which was absolutely delicious. Will definitely be visiting again.

Wow! Hadn't booked and just walked in. It was really busy but they said they would find us a table if we came back in 20 min. When we came back we were seated straight away and ordered poppadoms and sauces. The starters arrived and the presentation was great. The flavours were fabulous and we finished every last bit. I ordered lamb jalfrezi for my main and it really delivered in heat and taste. One of the nicest curries I've ever had. The peshwari naan was gorgeous as well. Wish I lived closer so I could try some of the Bengali dishes that were on offer! Highly recommended and the service was impeccable.

Food was great but awful service. We had booked ahead of time for a table of 12 and were just completely forgotten about while we were there. Sat down at 1830, didn't get our food until 2100, some of it being not what we had ordered. I appreciate they were busy but if you can't handle that many people don't book them in.

Consistatly perfect, we love eating at Lakeland spice whenever we're staying around keswick it's always 👌spot on perfect food, fantastic quality and great flavours. Thankfully it's not gone down hill ( as some our local restaurants have) in its quality & portion size, they are still delivering outstanding flavour perfection in a dish. We had Onion bhaji & shish kebab starters a King Prawn Jalfrezi each with garlic & coriander nans , 2 rices mushroom /veg all of which was delicious 😋 thx

This was superb. They don't have white fish- cod or haddock on the menu, yes salmon but I'm not keen on salmon. Monch, went next door to Booths and got a pack of cod and they did a bespoke fish curry for me!! That's what I call going the extra mile. Excellent.

Very friendly staff.. Accommodative of all our special requests.. they give local tourist suggestions as well. Do Not miss their Mushroom rice..

We visited Spice lounge for the first time this weekend and it was by far the best food we have had in a while. We recently moved up north from the Midlands and have struggled to find a curry house as good as those in Birmingham and we have finally found one!! We just got into town and everywhere was no longer serving food, I tried a last ditch effort and called Lakeland spice and they said sure come over. Food was amazing, service was great, and they were so nice and welcoming.

Lakeland spice After looking for the better part of a hour we finally decided on Lakeland Spice Cuisine. We visited on Saturday 23rd at a busy time and we were welcomed by a polite gentleman who took our takeaway order which was, Lamb biriani, chicken tikka Bhuna, peshwari naan and a portion of chips, all of which could of easily fed 3+! (Although it was that nice we didn’t waste much) And all costing £30 which we thought was great value for money! Another gentleman told us it’d take around 30 minutes so we left for a small walk around Keswick. When we came back, our food was piping hot and stayed hot for our 20 minute journey back to our lodge at Keswick reach. Every part of the food was gorgeous, the only downfall would be the chips as they got soggy from the drive, no mistake of their own. We would definitely recommend here and we will definitely be back!

Nicest I’ve ever tasted , the bhuna masala was to die for

Having telephoned to see if the restaurant could make some vegan dishes we were pleasantly surprised at how helpful they were and we collected a wonderful vegan meal this evening which was delicious. Lovely helpful staff and fab food. Vegan friendly

Came here as it was the highest rated Indian restaurant in Keswick, according to Google. And we were not disappointed! The food was lovely and the service was genuinely the best we've ever had. Super friendly and polite, and really went the extra mile to make our 3 year old's first curry experience a huge positive. Highly recommended.

Popped in midweek whilst restaurant was less busy. Enjoyed the food & service was polite but when presented with bill two items were more expensive than printed on menu & bill total wasn’t added correctly. The staff corrected their mistakes but worth checking if you visit.

Had a take away and enjoyed it a lot. We ordered on the phone and collected. Was ready so nice and quick. Was busy inside. Returned another night too! Really busy with an event but they still served me and only took 15 mins. Nice food. Nice staff

Best desi food i’ve had in UK. Tried tarka daal and bhuna which was amazing. Halal food is also available with Pakistani/Indian dishes.

Booking in here if weekend recommend as very popular and we saw why, the food was great, very tasty dishes, full of flavour and definitely worth a visit for your own experience, we would definitely eat here again, well done guys you didn't disappoint enjoyed our meal emencely

We always eat Indian food wherever we go on our travels. This was really good quality food, lots of Indian restaurants make really basic sauces but these guys were far from that! The Pathia was top notch quality. We will definitely be returning.

A warm welcome on arrival in a lovely setting, we were even brought a seat when there wasn't enough whilst waiting to place a large takeaway order for 17 people. This was handled promptly and on collection we received excellent customer service and two staff members politely helped to take to the car. The food was exceptional and no complaints from the whole party. Piping hot and delicious! All the children enjoyed their Kormas and adults divoured an array of other Indian cuisine. None of us would hesitate in going back! Fabulous!

Food was absolutely gorgeous, the best sit down meal we have had in ages! We had finished in a spa and fancied some nice food, turned up they accommodated us straight away, the service was brilliant and the food was even better! If you are anything like us and become abit apprehensive about places when you stay somewhere new then try here because you won’t be disappointed!

One of the top Indian restaurants I've been too. The flavours are amazing. Everytime me and my partner stay in Keswick, we always book to go here for dinner. A 100% must buy is the garlic nan!

Been going to Keswick for at least 40 years, and walked past this restaurant dozens of times and never been in. Big mistake! Fabulous food ,great friendly staff, and top class service,will be back soon!

This was a lovely stop off for some dinner with the family. Popped in literally waited 2 minutes and they accommodated us with table the service was good and fast the food was brillant as we wanted things a little more spiced they listened to...

Staying in Keswick for a week we've eaten here 3 times, as we've done on many previous visits to the area too! We have a hobby of trying the local Indian restaurants wherever we go and Lakeland spice remains on top for the UK for us. The taste of the food is strong with each dish providing a unique experience built upon a BIR classic. Would strongly recommend trying the Salmon Tikka! We look forward to returning soon

The lakeland Spice is a really nice restaurant. We loved the food and the friendly service. Never rushed, yet never having to wait long between courses, the food was served on hot plates and was of excellent quality and quantity. Outstanding.

We have visited Lakeland Spice numerous times and never been disappointed in the slightest. Once was as a walk in and they made room for us up stairs. I asked for Keema Rice as it is not on the menu and the waiter was delighted I had asked for it and explained they cannot list all options on the menu. We have found the staff really friendly, helpful and professional. Of course the food is superb and well priced. We have no hesitation in recommending Lakeland Spice to anyone visiting Keswick

If we could, we would give it 7 stars!!! From the moment we arrived, we were treated with genuine welcome and care. We spoke with Shiraz, who was in charge, and he helped us with questions we had. He recommended a customisation of one of the dishes to suit us. Whilst waiting, we were offered snacks on a complementary basis. When the food arrived, we were told to taste it and if we don't like it, we could have alternatives. The food exceeded our expectations. The best Indian meal we had, ever. One word, three syllables darling. 'De-li-cious'. As good an Indian meal as I've ever had.

We booked last minute for a 6pm table tonight (Sunday). Was greeted and shown promptly to our table. The waiters were attentive and the service was fantastic. The wait for our food was short. We started with the pickle tray to share, which was nice, however just be aware it doesn't actually have pickle included, but that was no problem for us. For main I had the tikka masala which was delicious. My parter had chicken madras which he highly recommends, he says it had a nice amount of heat! We were about to ask for the bill when we were each presented with a small plate of complementary sweet traditional Indian deserts which was a nice surprise. Our bill came to a reasonable £64 which included on top of the starter and curries, two portions of bhaji (we didn't realise you get two to a portion, so ended up with four!), two rice's, chips, a nan and two bottles of cobra. We will definitely be going again. It's was full too so I would recommend booking.

The food here was amazing! I had a prawn dhansak and it was one of the nicest I’ve ever had! We also ordered the tandoori mixed grill and some sides which were also great - would recommend!

Tired of having fish and chips and with limited options for Halal food, we decided to give Lakeland Spice a try, and we’re so glad that we did! Everything was delicious, especially the Saag lamb and the garlic naan is one of the best we’ve had in the UK. The salad was exactly like what we make back home, so nostalgic! And service was brilliant - they were happy to accommodate our group (10 people) even though we walked-in and the food was brought out very quickly for a freshly cooked meal! Give it a try, you’ll enjoy a heart meal! :)

Overall a wonderful experience! The food is spectacular (I met my partner in India and we are not shy to good Indian food… this was some of the best we’ve ever had!), the service was great and the atmosphere is really nice, clean and welcoming. It was quite affordable too! It’s a shame we don’t live nearby or we would be here a lot. Thank you for a great experience :)

Not bad - had worse, but had better. Curries tasty, but very ghee heavy. Pretty good portion sizes. Onion bhaji was tasty but somewhat dry. Prices are certainly not out of the way. Restaurant is VERY bright. Background music was annoying as it kept skipping...

First visit and surely the last. Vastly overpriced rubbish food. I had Chicken Tikka Masala and my wife King Prawn Tika Masala. Have has this in our home town and it is usually the colour of tomatoes and the spice mix, there would be onions, red peppers and other vegetables added.. Here it was just chicken of prawns with sauce, laced with so much artificial food colouring, it should have come with a health warning. The sauce was so sweet it must have had tablespoons of sugar added I asked if this was how it is eaten in Bangladesh, he smiled and said "no" We had this with plain boiled rice and 1 plain nan. I had a small beer and my wife had 2 J2o fruit drinks. I was so sure the waiter had made a mistake with the bill, I had to check it before I paid it.

Very tasty food!! They don't have all of the veggie options on the menu, but said they'd make any of the dishes vegetarian. Fantastic service, very friendly and attentive. We ordered a starter and it wasn't what we expected so they offered to swap it for something else. Highly recommended.

If you want an average curry in Keswick, this is the place to go. Food was ok, with the usual selection on the menu. Just a bit meh.

I never normally write reviews but I wanted to review this place because honestly the food was just beautiful. One of the best Indians we’ve had hands down. The staff were so lovely as well, they seated us next to a fire door which leads to the upstairs so obviously people were walking past all the time and one person banged the table so they moved us (without us having to ask) and even gave us a free drink at the end for the “hassle”. Thank you :)

Was put on a dinky table behind a door were people was passing every two minutes slamming on the table everytime they walk through it whilst trying to eat our food extremely over priced for mediocre food 14 pound for 6 pieces of dry chicken tikka and on top 6.95 for a bhuna sauce would never ever go back

Excellent service. They customised a chicken curry based on our taste requirements. It was very good. Tarka dal was homelike which we loved. Only recommendation is to put a whole wheat aata based chapati/roti in their menu.

The best restaurant for gluten free options, my husband was amazed & very happy. They are even inventing a g/f naan bread! The staff were very friendly and helpful, we would go back to Keswick just to revisit.

Fabulous meal the staff were really attentive. Book to avoid disappointment as it was full within an hour of opening. Not surprising considering the quality of the food and service.
