Maryland Chicken in Nottingham

This place is so unhygenic my whole friend group felt sick for several days after. The oil used to fey the chicken has most likely be used for several days before (if ever) it got replaced and the chips are nearly always soggy. Avoid at all costs, our health is the most important thing we got!

I had an incredibly disappointing experience at Maryland Chicken! The food was absolutely inedible—not even fit for human consumption. The chicken was stale, and the sides were tasteless. It was clear that no care had been put into preparing or serving the meal! On top of that, the quality was so poor that I couldn't even finish my food. For the price, I expected something at least edible, but this was beyond unacceptable! I won’t be returning, and I strongly suggest others avoid wasting their money here!

Absolute no go destination again. I wss just hungry after having pub crawl around city center on sunday night. This is the nearest one that I could get. The lady in the counter was rude. The chicken was completely dry, not so tender. The same like the chips, completely tasteless. Unfortunately, I won’f go here anymore. Enough for once

I've been to Maryland 2-3 times to get food, but every time I go, there's a guy cooking in the back who has curly hair, When ever he do cooking , he always sneezing at chicken while making chicken, I have told this to the front staff a couple of times as well, I will not go anymore there

Don’t get my wings ordered 15 gave me wings instead when my kids don’t like the wings. They told me get a refund and tried to make me spend more on another delivery and told me they were sending the strips out but decided not to 😊 lovely customer service

Most of the order turned up. 4 pieces of chicken was missing. Chicken was nice but prepared the Bbq sauce which came in sachets. Chips looked sodden/moist still nice with Bbq sauce. Disappointing

I always venture into this place after work in the very early hours. 5 strips for £3.50 absolute bargain. The staff are always super friendly and very welcoming. I highly recommend it. David.

Nothing like what it used to be, the strips half the time are trash because they've been sat there all day or they're from the day before. It's alot more expensive, which I get because everything's gone up but the quality has gone down. The guy just stands there on his phone all day, not even bothered about the customers..even asking for some sauce is like its doing him a disservice, probably because you're disturbing his phone call. Just doesn't care at all and the food reflects that, won't be going back after this.

It was alright he did it quite quick which is quite suspicious, would recommend if you’re on a budget but either than that it’s okay I guess

Chicken is OK but the thinks that stop me is that all the time I go there with different staff all the time and different price, one person charge u 3quid for 4 wins and chips and some of them charge u 3.50 lol, the owner should have a meeting with his staff to keep the price same and no one day 3quid and another day 3.50

The man behind the counter this afternoon around 15:45 was extremely unpleasant. He acted annoyed to repeat things and was just generally unfriendly. He also swooped up WAY LESS fries than I’m accustomed of getting for the £3.50 6pc wing + chips. They are getting increasingly stingy after having increased the prices a couple months ago. I’m disappointed.

Initially tried to overcharge me by 40p even after being in the night before (10th June) for the same meal, then after saying it was only £5, they try charging 6 so I walk out. Appalling new staff and scummy business. Completely attempting to take advantage of people that know no better. Cut off my regular visits and will be speaking to the supervisor when available.

Maryland chicken's still the same as 12 years ago! They still make low quality fried chicken . They were closed down twice for hygiene purposes by the council but they still cook without gloves or any higher food hygiene standards then 12 years ago. I still get food stomachache if I haven't been to it for sometime. However, the prices have altered tremendously. A chicken burger meal that used to be £2.50 a year ago (NOT 12 MONTHS AGO) has gone up now to £5 minimum. The food is the same as 10 years ago, the food hygiene and how it is prepared is the same as 10 years ago and workers including the chef's PPE is the same as 10 years ago. They still cook and prepare food for customers as 10 years ago! Even though, they were closed down twice for refinements for the same unhygienic practices. As customers, we urge the management to do better and look after the locals, we might look after you! Good luck.

I havent ate in maryland in a long time and today reminded me why i bought a homeless man food and when i walked in there was a man waiting to order whilst the staff was just stood there on his phone then whilst he was packing his order i asked him how much is a chicken burger meal and he ignored me the staff was so rude I definitely would not recommend especially as people know they was selling pigeons just a couple years ago and never have i ever seen anyone washing their hands there like a human phone has so much bacteria so for him to go from touching his phone to touching ppls food is disgusting

I specifically asked for a veggie burger with lettuce and bbq sauce only. They give me one with mayo on which I am ALLERGIC to. I tell them and they just shove the same burger back in the fryer. They then give it back to me clearly still with mayo on. 🤢

The chips, wings and strips are pretty good for a standard takeaway in Nottingham. If you're in a hurry for quick and fast food at a lower price, this is a place to go. But, I wouldn't say it's outstanding or really good.

Lovely place nice after a few pints . Not as good deals on just eat as the shop itself more dearer. Plus bucket chicken deals less chicken and costs more . Food quality is very good never had a problem here

I went in this place yesterday, and I noticed nobody was wearing face masks or gloves at all . And I ask the guy why , he completely ignore me . The guys who was doing my burger was coughing while was doing my burger and not wearing face mask . So I just put my burger in the bin . Because I already pod for it and the guys was so rude . Very disappointed and waste of money . He just ignore me gave me the burger and told me to go ..

No other chicken place in Nottingham quite matches up. There's something about their spice mix that makes me trek across town on a night out just for one of their strip burgers. I just wish they delivered!

I like Maryland chicken and feel privileged that Nottingham is one of the few cities that do it. Sad that they've temporarily shut down that location because it's ideal after a night out.

Very clear the corniness is not good and customer service is very poor and the signage needs to be changed were very difficult to understand the staff needs more customer friendly .rather than it says in small letters.either a drink or fries or if you want both it’s extra on the bill ., also there was a guy asleep on a table but the staff were doing nothing about this . Also the place looked dirty as it had dirty tables and litter around the front of house and the staff looked like they wernt bothers the food was very quick in coming how long had the chicken being cooked for ?? The whole place needs a refurb and staff training

Is it good quality? No, not particularly. Is the service exceptional? No, its alright though. Is it cheap? Yes crazy cheap. Does it taste good? Honestly, it tastes amazing. Get drunk before you go and I'm sure you'll have a great experience.

Cuando llegó aquí, nuestra bolsa de comida estaba empapada, así que la sacamos, pero no sirvió de nada, ya que también estaba empapada en grasa. Abrimos nuestras hamburguesas de filete de pollo y encontramos una sustancia blanca que no era mayonesa en la base inferior de uno de ellos. Las papas fritas que habíamos pedido estaban viejas y empapadas, uno de los peores lugares que hemos comido y definitivamente no volveremos a elegir. No lo recomendaría, ya que he leído muchas cosas, como personas que encuentran objetos afilados e insectos en sus alimentos. Personalmente, nunca encontré ninguno, pero aún era el peor lugar que he comido y me ha hecho sentir incómodos a mí ya mi amigo.

I've been a customer at Maryland Chicken on Lower Parliament St. for ten years, and not once have I ever had a bad meal here. In fact, I feel confident in saying that this establishent is the best fried chicken shop in U.K., let alone Nottingham. A frequent buyer of the meal that includes five chicken strips, chips and a soft/still drink, I can confirm that the chicken has always delivered through its succulent flavour, while the chips raise the bar in size, shape and taste. I left Nottingham to live in Leeds for three years in 2012, and on my travels in the North I failed to find a fried chicken shop that could provide real value for money on fried chicken meals – and I promise you, I did try. Now living in London, the thought of visiting Nottingham excites me each time because, aside from seeing friends and family, on the top of my list is visiting Maryland Chicken. I may have changed from the unsteady journey from teenager to adult, but that great Maryland taste hasn't left my mouth, and neither will the memories. Thanks lads.

I brought a 3 piece chicken and fries for my 9 year old daughter. It was shocking when she bite the chicken strip and found a sharp piece of plastic in her mouth.

I used to really like it but now they don't keep any veggie option.

If I could I would give 0.1 star as I ordered 2 steak burger plus fries times two and requested to put chilli sauce in two and I end up with 4 steak burgers with no fries and no sauce so I am very dissapointed as usual
